Guest Reviews
- 301lisa33 (8/5): Quirky rooms - The rooms at this hotel are quirky (or incredible). In our room there was a painted ceiling and an impractical round bed. The hotel prides itself as being a place of art and indeed there are many items on display. May not be to everyone's taste but it is interesting 'non-corporate' approach
- 3Siam (10/5): Beautiful experience at Suite d'Autore! - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Suite d'Autore in the interesting and spacious Fluidita room. It was very clean and quiet Ettore (owner) and staff were kind, gracious and took such good care of us, including great restaurant recommendations and booking private transport to and from the town ! The view over the Duomo was beautiful and the breakfast was delicious, including fresh croissants and ricotta cheese. The town itself of Piazza Armerina is quiet and beautiful and easy to get around on foot. Ettore was also our guide of the nearby excavated Roman mansion with incredible mosaics and also took us through the town. We would love to come back to stay at this unique and beautiful hotel in this special town!
- Geoffrey (10/5): - The staff at Suite d’auttore were so nice and helpful and pleasure to interact with. They recommended a fantastic restaurant (also very friendly) and showed me everywhere I should go in the city. The location could not be more central. I recommend giving them a call beforehand on where to park (very close) and the best way to arrive.
- Judy (10/5): - The owner and staff at this hotel are wonderful. They wete kind and generous. The location opposite the duomo next to a bar and restaurant was perfect. The rooms are funky and fun. There is a kettle for tea and coffee in the room, which was terrific. Fabulous place to stay!
- michele (8/5): - Vista duomo
- Lottie_sdc (10/5): Pop Art and feeling like home in a medieval town - Accommodation full of art and quirky art pieces on the top of the hill in Piazza Armerina. Beautiful views,
Comfortable stay, clean, and unique rooms in the heart of the historical centre. Lovely service, delicious breakfast on the rooftop.
A place I strongly recommend while visiting the area.
- monig320 (8/5): Little gem in the centre of Piazza Armerina - Stylish and unique rooms in an excellent location. The hotel has a great rooftop with a Cathedral view.
Ettore and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I recommend the visit to Villa Romana del Casale.
- Giulio Damiano (4/5): - Materassi e cuscini parecchio scomodi.
Panda
- A3093CAsteveg (10/5): Perfect location, exceptional staff!!! - Perfect location, exceptionally gracious staff. The view from my room overlooking the Basilica was exceptional. The owner Ettore was the most helpful host you could ask for. He organized everything and knew everybody. He watched out for us. We will be back!!!

- Q3709OAtanyas (10/5): Fun and colourful unique hotel stay - Perfect location overlooking the Duomo/ Rooftop terrace where you can eat breakfast, they also have a jacuzzi and deck chairs to sit and tan with 360 degree views of the town. Each room has it’s own unique design and artwork.
Walking distance to all the main attractions and restaurants in town. We stayed there when it was 40 degrees and the whole hotel including our room was very well air-conditioned. Breakfast buffet has some delicious homemade sweets and cakes. Staff were very friendly and helpful and overall a very fun, trendy and unique hotel to visit.
- Sara (10/5): Beautiful place - What an amazing place to stay. We were made to feel at home. The staff were incredible they made sure we were very comfortable they insisted on helping us with math is like finding a PCR testing center for our next trip they made really lovely gestures to make us feel at home. They gave us directions to get to town and get to the cold shops the lady who is in charge of the kitchen was just adorable she made tarts and cakes on a daily basis and they were sizzling hot in the morning and tasted incredible. This is basically a boutique hotel that’s just beautiful and has a very intimate lovely feeling I think the staff should be very proud of Themselves
- vincen (10/5): Central art hotel - Excellent stay, the staff is very helpful and went all the way to help us find parking very close to the hotel. The hotel is in the main square facing the cathedral, every room has a direct view on it. Also each room is unique and furnished with of art pieces. This place is build on passion and efforts, well done i would definitelly reccomend.
Personale molto cordiale e disponibile.
Buona la colazione, dolce e salata.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Unique and fun rooms. A problem with the hot water when we stayed, but it was fixed quickly
- JohnWill1076956 (10/5): Great art hotel - Fantastic position in the centre of the old town. Each room has different art which makes it very interesting. The staff are friendly and efficient. There are many good restaurants close by and a bus service just outside to the temples.
- 508jmw (6/5): Nicely placed in front of the Duomo, but average quality. - The hotel is nicely placed on the top of the city in front of the Duomo. Hotel has a special look as part of an art gallery. Each room is decorated differently - this may be fun, but not adding too much services. Rooms are a bit noisy - you can hear other rooms, also night activity in the place in front of duomo can be heart very well. Service is friendly, but overall quality is average. If you want to be in city center, it can be a good choice. If you want higher quality and coming only for visiting the Roman villa (which is outside of the city) other hotels probably provide better quality level
- jem314 (10/5): Very helpful, fantastic service. Quirky Arthouse hotel - We were stranded in Piazza Armerina when the buses were cancelled due to a snowstorm. We could not have found a better place to stay overnight. The rooms are decorated in a quirky and interesting fashion. We had a fantastic view over the snow covered Piazza Duomo. The room was warm and the bed comfortable. The receptionist spoke good English and was very helpful. He suggested where we could get a meal nearby, lent us a phone charger and arranged for a car to take us out to the Villa Romana del Casale the next day. We had been unable to find anyone prepared to take us out there due to the snow. Breakfast was included and was plentiful and tasty. Even after we had checked out the staff continued to be helpful - when we found that the buses to the coast were still not running and couldn't get any taxi companies to answer their phones, we rang and asked if the hotel could arrange transport for us, which they did.
- Charles (8/5): Base to see Villa Romana Casale - Excellent location with free parking and choice of eateries nearby. Friendly staff and pleasant breakfast. Room a bit tight and basin drain leaked, though staff responded well when it was mentioned. First rate base for visiting Villa Romana Casale, which is certainly one of the “must sees” for anyone visiting Sicily. The finest Roman Villa in existence with magic mosaics.
- Daniel (6/5): OK place. Great location. Helpful staff. - This is a great location. The rooms and hotel are clean, but be aware this is an old building in an old part of town. Quirky, creative, artful atmosphere. Nice breakfast. Room had a stunning view of the Duomo that everyone else walks up and up to see. If you stay here, it's all about the location. Parking was available in the piazza in front of the Duomo (just several meters from the hotel). No hotel specific parking spaces. We didn't have a problem, but be aware this could be a challenge. Overall: best location in the city/town; oldish feel to everything. Nice people. I suggest removing the cherry incense from the room. This isn't pleasant for everyone.
- Anthony (8/5): - checking in was very difficult
- ele (6/5): - grazioso, colazione basica, posizione ottima vista duomo
- Verified traveler (8/5): Toccata e fuga a Piazza Armerina - Posizione incantevole, migliorabili i bagni.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A funky kind of hotel with every room having a different theme. Would not appeal to everyone as bathrooms were modern but rooms (on purpose) feel old. Good location right across from the duomo. Great breakfast and wonderful cappucinos
- dalepaints (4/5): "Art" is in the eye of the beholder - We stayed at this hotel one night November 2017. The owner was exceptionally welcoming and took time showing us the rooms available. The very nice fellow who served us breakfast speaks English well and was interesting to chat with.. The location of the hotel is perfect ...high up on the hill across from the Duomo....a short walk to the old town center.
Driving to the location via GPS is close to impossible we ended up on the narrowest streets with a lot of difficulties turning around. We found parking in the street right near the duomo.
I cannot say anything nice about the rooms....dirty, toothpaste splashed bathroom walls, mold on the tiles in the shower. Holes in the sheets on the bed, the duvet in the closet was losing feathers everywhere, dust caked in corners of the room... overall, very run down. The "art" idea was a good premise but it needs a total overhaul. The hall rugs are filthy. There are few outlets and they are over filled with electrical plugs.the duomo bells ring from 6 am to at least 11pm every 1/2 hour. I could not wait to get out of there.
- GRC667 (10/5): Fantastic and unusual - We arrived late in piazza armerina with nowhere to stay and were beginning to get desperate an hour or two after dark. We stumbled on this fabulous hotel, that can't be praised enough. It has only 7 rooms, all individually themed with distinctive names. The decor is truly imaginative and funky. We had great service and felt it was excellent value for money. Fantastic views onto square and cathedral. Stylish and tasty breakfast.
- AM1146 (10/5): Interesting decor and excellent service - The rooms in this hotel are individually decorated, each with a different theme. The decor is very unusual and fun. Other people took photos, so you can see what it is like. The room we had was very comfortable with all the amenities. Our balcony faced the duomo square, which was lovely.
Breakfast was good and was served on the top floor, with views to the countryside.
I would like to particularly mention the excellent service. Both Hamed and Mamadi, who manned the reception desk, looked after us extremely well.
Piazza Armerina is a good overnight stop for visiting the splendid mosaics at the Roman Villa nearby. It is a quaint old town. If you are driving beware the narrow streets.
- motush (10/5): What a suprise a funky fun hotel - Each room at this hotel has its own artistic motif good fun and well done. We also had a spa bath .There was a small but pleasant little sitting area off the breakfast room and a cafe and good restaurant next door. The little balcoy overlooked the square and duomo. The town is very hilly anf nearby are the wonderful mozaics of Castello Romano not to be missed.
- Verified traveler (4/5): great location, but too much stress - 6-30 am, shower handle breaks.
Consider the stress level.
No one on front desk. Will the bathroom flood?
Take luggage to lobby, realize that, the lobby door to street is locked.
Haul luggage back into elevator.
Drag luggage down a flight of steps, to "night entrance door"
Realize that, it needs a key to open from inside.
Climb up stairs.
Take elevator back down to lobby.
Get key left on counter.
Take elevator back up to 1st floor.
Climb down stairs again.
Open door, drag out luggage
Stash key.
Run over cobbles with luggage, to meet waiting taxi.
Call Hotel staff. No answer.
Call again, "the water is still running in the shower"
Shower door knob fell off, first day. Never was repaired.
Glad to leave that overrated place. Its not 4 star. And, if they made available a "do not disturb" door sign, I wouldn't have been surprised by staff opening my door while I was in the room.
No room safe? TWO remotes to operate the TV? Nope, its not 4 star.
