They think of everything ri - This small boutique hotel was exceptional from the moment you arrive until you left. They take care of the finer touches to make your stay pleasant. The afternoon, tea and sleep ritual was most enjoyable. We had a unique that was once a wine cellar. The infinity pool was most welcoming as was the hot tub. There’s a nice outdoor covered seating area as well. The staff are amazing and very accommodating. NA

Diane (2/5): Problematic and not worth it. Do not use Booking.com if you need help they are a joke - Nice water views This place was unprofessional. A few days before I arrived I was emailed to say my booking was no longer available for the 5 days that I booked and they gave me the only option to move my stay to a different property on the opposite end of the island for half my stay. This was a huge inconvenience and not what I had booked for. The way the accommodation is presented in the photos does not live up to the real life experience. It seems run down and tired and the food was terrible. I made this booking through Booking.com and this was a huge mistake. Booking.com did nothing useful to assist me to find a resolution.

Aleksandra (7/5): Nice location on the water but didn't make it to 5 star - The view was wonderful. They had a small room that was used for massages and yoga which was lovely and the breakfasts were good - it was nice to be able to sit outside and dine. The staff tried to be helpful but was always a step behind. This did not feel like a 5-star hotel on the service front. Also, the bathroom was super small and quite dark. The only mirror was above the single sink in-between two walls at the end of the narrow bathroom - no counter space and the floor beneath the sink kept flooding. Several things in our room didn't work and by the time any of it was fixed, we were leaving.

Clinton (10/5): - Singular's White property is absolutely beautiful, including the views and pool, and our guest room was unique and quiet, and had a very very comfortable bed (and we also got the room with the big tub - which was special!). The staff is truly excellent; they accomodated us on any special requests and provided great recommendations. The food was tremendous, both at the White property and its sister SB resort (compliments to the chef!), as were the friendly and hard-working servers (particularly at White, where we stayed). The location of White is convenient to many attractions via short car rides, so we recommend renting your own car (which we did and loved the experience and freedom) or otherwise coming prepared to pay for all of your rides around the island (i would note that there were a couple of beaches close to White which may have been walkable, but we did not visit them ourselves since beaches were not on our agenda - however, if you prefer a beach on location, you could check out the sister SB resort). The only ding I can think of is that there were a few dead insects found in our room throughout the stay; this was not an issue for us personally - since they were dead and we understand the reality of them being from SC, USA - but it is possible that a particularly demanding guest might whine about it. I wont go into the details - but they will be hopefully fixing it. Meals: A little inflexible on the menu. I dont think meals are prepared onsite. Staff: Many staff members were great. There was an issue in our rooms - but the property will try to fix it. Additionally, the suites are very noisy if other guests decide to have drink at the fireplace (which is their right). You can hear guests in the other room above the suite.

Jackie (1/5): RIP off. Go elsewhere! - The outdoor area is nice if the weather is good Our ‘suite’ was dark, dismal and uncomfortable. It had no door to the bathroom - just a curtain.The toilet leaked. Hot water took 10 mins to arrive to the shower. No comfortable chairs. Extreme minimalism. We called it the dungeon. Food was OK but limited choices. We tried to eat out but very poor restaurants nearby.

Cheryl (8/5): Very good - The hotel is in a quiet yet convenient location to explore the island of San Miguel. There is a lovely infinity pool and patio area with opportunities for outdoor dining while listening to the crashing waves below. We were able to reserve a secluded jacuzzi which was a relaxing way to end our day of exploring the island. Joao was extremely helpful in giving us information and directions of where to go on the island, how to park and activities available. The hotel advertises itself as eco friendly but we felt like a lot of the design issues were more for show than for comfort. The cost of a nights stay was steep and because of this we had expectations similar to other hotels we have stayed at with similar costs. Our room was quite large which was appreciated but it faced an unattractive building and was located above the fan units for the hotel. Our biggest issue was that none of the staff seemed to be enjoying their work and made us feel as though our presence was a burden (with the exception of Andrea at breakfast). And lastly at no other place in Portugal was a tip included before asking if and how much we wanted to tip. This hotel got many glowing reviews but it just wasn't what we were hoping for.

We loved the reservable private hot tub and enjoyed relaxing in our room while we watched and listened to the ocean. The dinner was so delicious. The bed was a bit too hard and the door knobs are difficult to manage. But they were minor inconveniences.

Rainorshine (10/5): Exceptional - Unbeatable view. Perched on the edge of the world. Utterly sublime. Food was subpar, so we opted to go out to eat most of the time. Normally this would be a dealbreaker, but everything else was so fantastic it was worth it.

Michael (10/5): - A lovely small complex where the staff are very friendly and are very helpful. They provide advice and information to get the best out of your visit. The location was quiet though still close to Ponta Delgada. It is right on the sea front with great views out to see. The room was spacious and the breakfast delicious. Sao Miguel is a beautiful island with many great locations to visit.

Irina (7/5): Beautiful hotel on the cliff. - we liked the location and service unfortunately a few things we didn’t like. The room was very dark as there is only one light above the table and two lights on the bed’s sides, and we had to use the flashlights to read. Also, the hotel is advertised as the adult only hotel, but family with younger children stayed above us and disturbed our sleep.

Dorine (7/5): Good - Amazing view from the hotel, you can see and hear the waves from the ocean in your room, which is an amazing experience. Breakfast was tasty and staff was friendly and incredibly helpful in arranging excursions. Breakfast choices were limited, as were vegetarian dinner options (just one main course). They were out of espresso/ cappucino for one day which is not what I expected from a four star hotel. Also there wasn’t really anything to do within walking distance, and there weren’t any restaurants nearby, so I wouldn’t recommend staying here for more than two-three days if you don’t have a car. The swimming pool was a bit cold and there were things in the pool that really resembled worms… so unfortunately that wasn’t very appealing.

Delia (8/5): Beautiful place, perfect for relaxing - We loved our 1 week stay at this lovely boutique hotel. The staff were truly professionals, friendly and kind. They checked on us regularly and communication was easy via WhatsApp. They all deserve a 10! The hotel itself is beautiful, tastefully designed and with a tranquil vibe. The pool, though small, looks over the ocean and offers the perfect relaxation with an alcoholic drink. Though the room wasn't what we were hoping, it was nice to have a small kitchen - we find it very useful. We also appreciated the evening ritual where they brought some nice herbal tea to our room. Breakfast was lovely too. I might sound picky but we paid for the room what we would normally pay at 5 stars luxury hotel, and I am afraid it was nowhere near; The room (J2) was very narrow (and long!) and you could barely walk near the bed without bumping your foot into the bed frame. It had very limited space to put your clothes. It had no window, which we found very disappointing as we like to sleep with an open window and hear the ocean, hence why we chose this place. Basically, the entrance door was made from glass and functioned like 'a window' too, but clearly we wouldn't sleep with an open door. It also gave the entire room a dark look as it simply didn't have enough light coming in. The bathroom was tiny with a weird sliding wooden door that gave no proper privacy. We also could have used a trashcan in the room, especially that there is a kitchen in the room. As mentioned, the hotel itself is gorgeous and we enjoyed its public spaces, but it could use a treatment against cockroaches. I totally get its summer and they are outside, but it was unpleasant to see so many of them running around outside the room at night. Finally, the restaurant had very little vegetarian options. We would have dine there more often if the menu was richer. That said, their sister restaurant at their other hotel is really good and we enjoyed our dinner there. Despite the above, we did enjoy our time very much and would probably come back, and just choose a different room.

Although the hotel was very good we didn't think it was good value for money. The food was not exceptional and although we would be happy to pay extra for the more personal service the actual price difference was too great.

Jordan (10/5): Best hotel on the island! - Everything about this hotel was amazing. It's quaint, quiet, located right along the sea and was an overall relaxing experience. The staff was amazing, the food in the restaurant great, and the room was very comfortable. Plenty of free parking if you have a car. Try the hottub overlooking the ocean! If you're going to stay on Saint Miguel, this is the place you should stay. I don't really have any negative comments. Be nice if there was a beach. But the hotel doesn't control that. Other than that the perfect place.

Sao Miguel is amazing and the people of the island are lovely. We came tired but left relaxed and energized. The entire staff at White Hotel was super friendly, welcoming, and made our stay memorable. Cannot recommend this hotel enough!
