• Hawkins (1/5): My stay was cut short by bugs in the bed. - There is nothing to like about this property. I did not like the staff, the amenities, the location, the room and the cleanliness.
• Beebsperez (4/5): Upgrades Badly Needed - Staff was helpful & friendly, heat worked well on a freezing night, pillows were comfortable. Room badly needed upgrades, all was older & worn. One electrical socket was hanging out of the wall.

• Timothy (7/5): If you’re going to be in Yoakum for a week and want to keep your budget conservative, this is tps. - I didn’t h Try the breakfast. I didn’t even know about it. The building is dated, but they keep it relatively clean. The bathtub was spotless. That means a lot in my opinion.

• Luis (4/5): - Carpet inside the rooms are super dirty and smelly, the overall Condition of the hotel is in dire need of a remodel! Pretty cheap for one night, you decide if you dont mind the ghetto!
• William S. (2/5): - Fifty-five years ago, I stayed in this motel the night before I married my wife. It was a great stay! But this weekend was 100% turnaround. The room was awful. The door was difficult to unlock, an ironing board was in the room but no iron, the fridge was hardly working and dirty. The microwave was dirty, maybe a drip from a Hot Pocket, and I had to clean it before my wife would use it. The bathtub had heavy mold in one corner where it met the tile, and the shower curtain just grazed the top of the tub so when when the shower was used, the floor was a lake. The entire tub stopper had been pulled out and was sitting on the rim of the tub. Even if we'd wanted to, taking a bath was out of the question. The website indicated the place has a Restaurant. It does not. So no breakfast There wasn't even a morning cup of coffee available in the lobby area, and there was no coffee maker in the room. Before we went to bed, we walked to the Circle K across the parking lot to buy coffee to heat up in the microwave to drink in the morning. Neither was there an ice machine on the property. Also, 90% of the supports for the upstairs walkway were rotted. Besides being an eyesore, they were probably dangerous. On the plus side, the mattress was firm and comfortable (can't say much good about the pillows), and the shade did a good job of keeping the parking lot lights from flooding the room, but those things could never make up for the inadequacies of this place. We will never stay there again.

• Ben (2/5): Hotel unacceptable - I had a job location about 15 miles from hotel that lasted a week. I decided to try it out the room, the owner said i could get a deluxe for $5 more so i agreed. The room was disappointing when i took a shower i reached up to move the shower head and it fell off!! But what really got me was the huge water roach that came out under my bed! Pay a few dollars more and get a better hotel thats in the area the owner doesn't care just wants your money.

• Danielle (10/5): - This is a very clean and comfortable place at a great price point. The best thing is the really sweet couple running the place. It's an old property but for the price it is safe, clean and what you need for a couple good nights of sleep. I came here for a marathon in Shiner so it was a good location. It's near HEB and a few interesting towns like Luling and Gonzalez on the fringe of hill country.
• Teresa (10/5): Don't judge the book by its cover - The room was exactly as pictured. The room was very clean. The bedding was soft and smelt and felt clean. The bed was comfortable considering we stayed away from home. The outside of the hotel looks run down; however, everything else was great. The receptionist was very friendly and professional. I would stay there again.
• Timothy (6/5): - My body aches after a days hard work and I just need to soak in a hot bathtub. The property was dated, but the price of the room was reasonable and the bed sheets were clean. The hot water was wonderfully hot. Now that might seem a little odd, but the water in my room at another hotel in Yoakum Texas was just barely warm. This alone made my stay great. It was Godsend to soak in a hot bathtub. The room was dated and really could be renovated. That said, the TV worked. The bathroom dated, but clean. The AC worked fine. The bed was good and the linen clean. But best of all- THE WATER WAS HOT. And the staff was great !

• Margie (7/5): Unusual odor in room - Quiet, restful. Beds were very comfortable. The cleaning agent they had previously used, which was bleach, irritated my eyes. It was extremely clean but u could definitely smell that agent. I went out and purchased lysol and fragrance but still there. I reported it and he told me it was and immediately sent someone to mop the floor w plain water, she did and eventually the odor went away after several hours. I sprayed what I purchased and the odor diminished. After that I was able to fall asleep.

NASTY!!!! - nothing at all!!!!! property has bugs, doors do not close all the way! very unsafe, unclean sheets, floor has multiple dead bugs you have to push the door in with your body as if your breaking into a door. stained sheets yellow and brown stains all over covers bugs in the shower/tub sink and toilet dead !

The front front desk employees were cordial and inviting. No real complaints. A little paint on the façade would’ve gone along way, but for the price I’m just glad it had a facade.

• Patrick (10/5): These folks go out of their way to make sure that their guests are 100 percent satisfied. - Overall, I had a great experience with the Woodfield Inn; Mr. Henry and his staff were incredibly helpful, and the amenities were great. The room was wonderful, clean, No complaints, I will stay there again! Good honest people .

From Bates motel appearance, stale smelling room to a creepy feeling.  Very 1st thing was being told I booked smoking.  She'd gladly move me to a nonsmoking room for an extra fee. I should have pulled up the reservation.  Later I had time I found NO I indeed booked nonsmoking.  The owner was walking by so I let him know the error.  Basically I got a "you should be grateful" speech.  On how they gave us a good room, pet deposit down the road was higher, how his security cameras are on.  I knew then instead of a simple mistake, it was bait & switch scam.  They DO NOT honor the price on Expedia.  It's just $ so it wasn't worth the hassle trying to talk further with his supposed "limited English and understanding".  15 minutes later the Owner knocks on door with our bill asking for signature.  He didn't remove the $, because they "gave us the best room".  Still not worth a hassle I sign and keep our copy as proof. 7:30am as I was in bed waking up, the door unlocks only stopped opening by the chain AND peeping in is the OWNER! He saw me awake & shut the door.  My husband & I decide to get out of there!  As we packed our car right outside our doorway I tell Owner "our door was opened" His reply was " he'd check into it". EXTREMELY CREEPY!! I began watching my credit card, I do not trust the integrity of this owner & wife, so I have cancelled my card from bogus charges. Obviously "GOOD" reviews are staged.   Our "clean" room left our socks BLACK on the bottom. 
• Amy (4/5): - The only good things I can say are that it was affordable and available when nothing else was. The room was in horrible condition. Paint torn from the walls. Rusty fixtures. Peeling paint in table tops. It was noisy and we wondered if people lived upstairs. The manager was nice but the whole place was a wreck. With no other availability in town it was suck it up here or sleep in the truck. The bedding appeared clean. But the mattress was rock hard.

The property looks both like it was hit by a hurricane and had bed bugs at one time. Paint is chipped off the walls. The bathroom had mold EVERYWHERE. The microwave didnt work and people were literally living in this hotel. The person didnt speak english hardly at all. His machine wasnt working to run my card forever. This is the worst stay in Yoakum PERIOD

• Marsha (10/5): - "You can't judge a book by its cover" is definitely true of this motel. The exterior is alittle rough around the edges but the rooms are extremely clean !!!! The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the surroundings were quiet.

• Verified traveler (2/5): Just don't do it. - First, I'm not usually one to leave a bad review because everyone needs to make a living. However, I booked this because it had an 8.0 review. I have never been this disappointed with a stay. The hotel had rotten siding. Which is not in our room but, it does show a lack of responsibly. There was even a rotten beam broken in half that was supporting the 2nd story. ENOUGH ABOUT THAT, the room was fairly nice if it didn't have a slimy coating in everything. The toilet had been left where someone had used it and did not flush it, it also had hair on the seat (not head head hair either). There were only 2 towels and 4 of us. The freezer was frozen up. There were only 2 pillows on each bed. Rust on the furniture. But, my DEAL BREAKER was THE ROACHES. Now I have to leave my bags outside for a week to give them time to vacate my bags. I will NEVER stay there again! The only good thing was the night staff was friendly and accommodating to our late check in without attitude and the shower had hot water. I hate to write a bad review but, I could even walk around in the room without shoes on and then I had a 10 yr old and a 5 yr old with me to have to keep clean to boot. Hope this helps someone, the hotel to clean the facility or others looking for a room. God bless!

My wife books my hotels and had called ahead to request my A/C be turned on ahead of my arrival. My room was clean and cold, and staff was friendly and helpful. Will stay again.

• Shelsea (6/5): Okay stay - The outside of the place is rundown. When you get there you think you might be at the wrong place or in a nightmare. Once you go inside your room it is nice. Not super nice but okay for one night. Somebody knocked on our door at around 2am and woke us up. The area is a bit effy.

• Luis (10/5): Excellent hotel stay on my visit to Spoetzl Brewer - Upon arrival I was skeptical about staying here due to the exterior appearance. The night person on duty which I believe is the owner was very courteous. Once I opened my door thinking it would be old and outdated due to the exterior appearance I was delighted and amazed on the interior appearance. Although the tub was old and refurbished everything else is brand new and and very clean. The picture on the website are accurate and true. Very spacious rooms, very clean and no odors. This place was recently renovated. You also receive a delicious free breakfast. From the time you arrive until you leave the owner is extremely courteous! I highly recommend this place if you are in the area, especially if you are visiting the Spoetzl Brewery, only 9 miles from Shiner, Texas.
• Jennifer (10/5): Wonderful Stay! - From the moment we checked in we felt right at home. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the family who owns and operates the property is super friendly. Our pets were welcomed with no hassle, which after dealing with "pet friendly" hotels that are less than thrilled to follow through with this claim across the country all week, was a huge plus for us. A complimentary hot breakfast is served in the attached restaurant that is nearly worth the stay in itself. I really can't speak highly enough of this place!

Outside apperiance is old and outdated. The service was great very positive people. If you need a good clean room this is your place.
