Guest Reviews
- Stephen (4/5): Flagged for a Night - The stay would of been longer, except while I was there, the hotel only then decided to tell customers they are starting renovations and all rooms had to be vacated..Thus,I lost my last night's stay and was not compensated for it at all,as hotel said it's not their policy to do so..So I'm out of pocket 1 night stay and had to book other accommodation..Even after many emails and consulting,no refund was given..
Very poor effort by the hotel when it was clearly their fault..Major disappointment as I am a very regular customer to this hotel.
- Arnold (6/5): - Air conditioner didn’t blow air as fan roller full of fluff and needs cleaning.
No ceiling Fans which made it even hotter with air conditioning not functioning properly.
But overall we did enjoy our stay, easy book in and staff were friendly 👍
Will be back again to stay ✔️

- Andre (4/5): - I didn’t arrive eat because off the weather I will arrive there soon.
- anjamareih (10/5): Definitely our favourite place to stay in Darwin - Best receptionist we ever met, very friendly and helpful. We‘ve stayed here for the second time now this year, we loved the clean rooms with the pool view, excellent meals at bar next door, shaded pool area. We definitely will be coming back!
- Tameka (8/5): - Good
- Charles (8/5): - Friendly staffs, clean rooms
Stay there for 4 nights
- Charles (8/5): - Good size room, friendly staffs, big thick tender steak.
Clean swimming pool
- Michael (10/5): - Good for the price
- 755wesb (6/5): Thought it was ok until I reviewed my bank statements - Staff need retraining to deal with conflict resolutions. I turned up a day early to be told I had NO booking, until receptionist looked further. After checking bank statements found a deduction of $228. Rang hotel to be told it was for 2 days booking from the 10th. Jetstar flight to Darwin left Melbourne on the 10th and I stayed elsewhere. ?????¿¿??¿?
- Michael (10/5): - Clean
- brady (2/5): - Had a group of drunk aboriginal people screaming and fighting in the next room and in the hallway. Kicking doors and screaming so loud the night staff took over a hour to remove them from the property. I would really suggest giving my money back for my stay.
- Michael (8/5): - Clean and tidy
- Lawrence (8/5): - The friendly atmosphere
- paular0sal (8/5): Happy hour from 4pm is great. Dog friendly pub outside area with doggy water bowls available. Meet the locals. - A punters, sports bar, pub restaurant style outdoor / indoor seating area downstairs (ground level) which features a cool band on Friday nights. They do cover songs with over 200 in their repertoire. Frontier offers pub meals & pizza menu.
- bethanyt907 (6/5): Pretty Average - This hotel was located in a convenient location. It was very close to the CBD and near Mindel Beach. Average parking space and good size. The gym was mediocre and in need of a touch up. First night in the room was hot. We could feel heat coming through the wall near the window and air conditioning was not working properly. We thankfully were able to switch rooms at no extra charge. The bathroom was cramped but overall clean. Room was neat and beds were comfortable. There was not much light and there was only one working ceiling light and wasn’t even in the centre of the room. We found a beer bottle and sock under the double bed. Friendly and helpful staff but overall a comfortable stay.
- Adam (8/5): - Nice spot. Bar staff were excellent and food great
- Michelle (8/5): - Friendly staff
- Christiane (8/5): - This hotel is a good place to stay. The facilities are a little tired but it has a lovely pool and outside area. I had asked for a quiet room which meant a view onto the car park but this didn’t bother me. If you want a pool view you may get noise from the bar where they have live bands playing. It’s up to what your personal preference is. Note: there is no breakfast. And another thing: the light in my room was extremely poor. No ceiling light in the main section of the room so I had to move the bedside lamps to the desk in order to write and work on the laptop. They really need to offer better room lighting for sure. They also do maintenance until late at night so beware of this!
- JasonL488 (2/5): Don't Trust Them - Do not trust these people, as they are quick to falsely advertise and then blame the others for their deception. They advertised a pick-up of items they were selling for between a particular time frame, which we stuck to, but they had already sold it all before the time frame and said bad luck first in first served, even though they went against their own statement. This is out and out deception and fraud
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Old but safe a fine
- Robyn (8/5): - When i arrived late at night i was given a room on the ground floor, windows facing onto carpark (no privacy), smelt of previous smokers, noisy air conditioner, music blaring in the corridor outside, showerhead spraying everywhere, and no overhead light in main space - just tiny lamps, so dark. The next morning i asked to change rooms and was immediately given a much better room in terms of window outlook and quieter aircon. Still no overhead light (??) and the bathroom has seen better days. But the swimming pool is lovely and in the end i had a good holiday here. Staff were very friendly and accomodating.
- James (8/5): - Fairly standard 3 star hotel. Pool was nice, building is a bit old, but well maintained. Staff are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the room windows don't open, but air conditioning is supplied.
- RobK2395 (2/5): Never stay here terrible! - Worst hotel I have tried to stay in for decades. No fresh water in rooms, taxis unavailable to hotel (or staff not trained) no breakfast in hotel. Run down to really unacceptable levels. Access to what is restaurant and bar is same as going to a public toilet in North America. Horrible do not stay here. First day here, if it improves I will add to comments but this is a dump.
- Elizabeth (6/5): - It would have been good to have breakfast facilities
- Mark (10/5): - Quite happy with stay
- Daniel (6/5): - Lack of building maintenance. Main hallway carpets not cleaned. 3 star is appropriate.
- Lisa6260 (2/5): Gristle - Steak was all gristle as was the manager. Frozen chips . We asked for the manager’s opinion as to the percentage of gristle and she immediately launched into a tirade that we should have mentioned it to the bar before we ate the steak that it was all gristle.
- Violeta (10/5): - I truly enjoyed my stay! The staff was awesome and very friendly. Great pool area, nice bar, close to Mindil beach market, and most tour operators pick up at the hotel. Thank you!
- howitisuno (2/5): Wouldn’t recommend - Walked into room 10 and was overwhelmed how noisy the Air conditioners fan motor was (even on lowest fan speed). Went to receptionist straight away and reported, was told she could NOT help!
No Room Move …nothing! Was just plain rude. Will not stay here again!
- Sheryl (8/5): - Great staff & service. Obviously an older property. The area around the pool & the bbq could be freshened up a little. Otherwise the place met our needs & we thank the staff for their hospitality.
- Belduck (2/5): If you value sleep and security - just don’t stay here! - Very disappointed. I didn’t have high hopes to begin with, but sadly this place didn’t even live up to them. Stayed 3 nights and two of them were disturbed by fire evacuations at 2.20am on the 1st night and 1.30am on the last one. The first one resulted in somehow ending up in the holding area with what appeared to be refugees that were being housed on the top floors. Everyone including the minders had masks on (except us), so a bit concerned still, then we got sent back into the building to find another exit??? With an active fire alarm still going - WTF? The 2nd night had randoms knocking on all doors on the 4th floor - no restricted access so could have been anyone - I wasn’t brave enough to check who they were and was about to phone police but they had moved on by then. No breakfast available. Poorly maintained rooms. Barely there lighting - so don’t expect to work in the room after dark. Good points were attached bottle shop - very much needed to dull the senses! Have advised my company to remove this facility from there list.
- Simon (10/5): - Lose to city, front bar
- Mike (6/5): - Don't expect much and you will be ok. Rooms are old and run down, but comfortable.
- Erica (4/5): - The room smelt of mould, the curtains were extremely mouldy, there were huntsman spiders, exposed electrical wires from a broken lamp. The door was broken. Just overall very unsanitary and I probably won’t stay here again. You get what you pay for I guess.
- David (8/5): - A good budget hotel with good food & great staff. The room windows overlooking the pool could have done with a clean. They were not that bad but noticeable. 24 hour reception. Will stay again.
- Tavia (10/5): - Always a pleasure :)
- Cheley (10/5): - Food was 5 star service friendly and amazing!
- Paula (2/5): - One of the worst accommodation experiences I’ve ever had. The shower was like a gravity fed farm shower. Only had one key to the room door and they wouldn’t give us another one. The music from the band in the dero bar down stairs kept us up. The after hour door code did not open the door. There was no deck or window in the room that could be opened. The hallway smelt like roast lamb and cigarette smoke.Very bad accommodation and would not recommend. I’ll never go back.
- Tina (8/5): - It was a standard room with tea/coffee facilities, ironing board, lockable safe and big TV. The room was clean, I felt safe. It is an old building with dated furniture however still provided what was needed.
Unfortunately the hallway and room smelt like stale cigarette smoke. Parking was available but not allocated so you could miss out.
The staff were very great 👍
- Trisha (6/5): - TV didn’t work
- Steven (8/5): - Quick check inn, clean and comfortable affordable accommodation that’s quiet and well located
- Jason (10/5): - Clean, comfortable and convenient. Exactly whats needed for a weekend in Darwin
- Mark (6/5): - Check in easy…. Night manager was very good
The morning reception needs to smile !!!! Would have thought that working in this role empathy or friendliness would have to be a key factor in this role
- Skevos (4/5): - The water was dirty no milk i
- Elias Jr (8/5): - It was all good except for unsecured parking spaces.
- Joshua (10/5): - Easy and reasonable price
- richardor2024 (8/5): A place to stay. - We are actually locals and looking for a change in our everyday routine, i found this place online which is really affordable, we stayed here for tonight and i would say that its a wise choice for me, the room and the swimming pool are big there is a nice touch of nature around the pool which me and my wife loves it. I recommend this hotel to other tourist, it's not new but value for money.
- Tavia (10/5): - Always a pleasure staying here, staff are friendly, rooms are super comfy:)
- Deborah (4/5): - Car park large pot hole. I fell in and twisted ankle.Staff not friendly
- Downunder222 (2/5): Horrible - First a bath with no plug, when asked we don’t have one in the whole building. Aircon that doesn’t work. Room underwhelming. Pub down stairs looks like a dungeon and ran by a very rude Manager. Gaming room dark and horrible. Staff smoke out the front in front of patrons. Let’s say this place has no class especially management.
- Adi (8/5): - A well appointed room for the price. Good pool and easy to access. Unfortunately the air conditioner both dripped and spat out a lot of ice when it was being run. We had to put a towel down to collect it but it was soaking, and black and wasn't removed during towel replacement.
This property was easy to find and had a restaurant attached. We found out that you got a discount at the restaurant after our meal. It would be good to be asked if you were staying at the venue.
- Chris (6/5): - Good value for the money .A bit tired in places . A reasonably short walk into town . Quiet . I would consider staying here again in the future .
- Sirui (2/5): - So dirty inside the room, never come again.
- Bruce (6/5): - Very noisy, bit far from CBD unless you have a vehicle.
- lynnette (8/5): - As unable yo purchase breakfast it would be nice to have some crockery and utensils in the room. 🙂
- 904pennym (4/5): Awful, awful entertainment - Please make the singer on Saturday night go away. He is terrible!!!! Seriously you cannot expect people to listen to this garbage. He is out of tune and screams. We have a lot of talent in Darwin, he just isn’ up to it
- Brian (2/5): - Bar manager is appalling, rude, horrible, toxic, venomous Person reception were complete opposite rooms are dated. Only good for fifo workers. Couldn’t eat there had to walk to town which was very inconvenient. The lowest in Darwin city .
- W7659AFaaronw (2/5): Based Manager - I was kicked out of the downstairs pub by the manager because I had smoked medical marijuana for my chronic back pain. I was in the middle of a conversation with my co-worker. Not very happy with this treatment
- W1245XNmartinw (2/5): Needs a lot of work and TLC - The hotel is rated above its true value. Rooms dirty windows has not been cleaned for some time. The cleaners do not vacuum as a cockroach is still there after 3 day's. Receptionists not bad. Would not recommend this place to my friends. Sorry Darwin
- Jeffna (6/5): - The rooms are clean however they don’t have microwaves or a landline to dial reception
The pool is lovely not the gardens around the pool. They are unkept and very very dirty
Theirs no garden attention
I want to know why?
Why don’t they maintain the basics of garden pool area
Their were branches all over the ground, weeds and it looks like nothing had been done for years
I wouldn’t stay here on those principles
- sophiabK2119AQ (2/5): Not satisfied with my stay. - Did not receive the bond money back when I was told ( full refund) that the funds were refunded. I rang multiple times and had no help whatsoever. I was Kept getting put on hold. Won’t be coming back here again.
- Katie (8/5): Average - Good hotel for sleeping, room was clean. A little bit of a walk to downtown but doable. Some cosmetic damage to toilet/shower but still functioning. Can easily hear noise in halls. A bit wary of the lock on the door, you can't lock the knob and all you have is a flimsy deadbolt. Definitely would not feel safe with that if I was traveling alone.
- 258maggiet (2/5): Poor communication - blatantly lied to us - We got asked to pay an extra $100 at the desk upon check in so that they can hold our card in case of room damages. We checked out on a Monday morning and got told that the $100 would be back by Tuesday as Monday was a public holiday. After days of not having this money back we called only to get told that it actually takes 10 days to go back into our account, which is very different to what we got told upon check out. We understand having to keep a card on file to cover any room damages etc but blatantly lying to guests is not great, if we had of known this prior to booking we would not have stayed here as $100 is a lot to lose on a holiday. customer service said there is nothing they would do as they never took our money from our account and released it when they promised, but they didn’t explain that the turn around is actually a full 10 days. Every other hotel I’ve stayed at has only ever charged a $1 card holding fee.
- Keith (8/5): Good for short stay - Old hotel, ok for a 1 or 2 night stay. Good value for the price.
- Eddy (8/5): - Clean and quiet
- Tavia (10/5): - The receptionist allowed me to check in at 10.30 am, which was great!! I often stay here, staff are always friendly, rooms clean & beds are super comfy :)
- Ron (10/5): Great pool - I stayed for 12 nights and great pool bar and food was nice too
- Arnold (10/5): - Me and my wife have stayed at the hotel a few times before and will continue to do so in the future. Booking in is easy, staff are friendly, good spacious rooms, good parking and great location 😁
We are regular visitors to Darwin so will be staying there again 👍

- pauline (10/5): - Situated in a quieter area. parking was a concern but ended up safe.
Price was economical for a quick trip and not needing nightlife.
Easy access to drive all over Darwin. Close to Botanical Gardens for walks.
- Tara (6/5): - Staff member was friendly but room air conditioner wasn’t cold and bathroom had a leaking tap. I reported to the receptionist desk upon check out. Place is run down but room was a good size. I canceled my booking for the following week.
- JeffS758 (8/5): Just relax and have a laugh - Ok so this hotel is not romantic and is dated. But if you’re not expecting too much it’s fine. This time the aircon in my room was dripping water so they moved me.
I’ve stayed here a lot and I believe it should be cheaper, but it’s ok. Free parking, good Aussie pub downstairs and you can grab a scooter and ride into town.
Compare prices to other nearby hotels and you’ll soon see it’s on the cheaper side, so unfair to compare with 4-5star in a bigger price bracket.
In peak season nothing is cheap in Darwin.
- Albert (4/5): Getting old - Had issues with condition of room. Had toilet seat rocking around every time you sat on it, loose mounting. Reported to reception. Having shower and cold water tap came completely off its spindle, reported to reception but had been reported previous week when partner stayed in same room. Condition of tiles around shower breaking up, chipped. Couldn’t get in on late back into hotel at front door, security code wouldn’t work at all, both of us tried but ended up ringing reception to come open, seemed like we woke them up from a huge sleep.
- clare (8/5): - I always like staying here. It was an overnight stay just to recover from 19hr flight - hotel is cheap and comfortable and good for just sleeping.
- Linda (10/5): Good spot - Easy checkin. Great location
- Bradley (8/5): - Shower was poor it was too slow
- Ian (6/5): - Matenance of room having broken fitting in bath needs attention
Overall average and too expensive for the standard
- Arnold (8/5): - Definitely will stay there again, great location close to shops ant eateries
- Oldson1 (4/5): Barely adequate - Booked this for its proximity to the Botanic Gardens and museum. Did NOT know about the topless barmaids and yahoos in the bar. Aircon worked well but rooms are run down and need a thorough clean. Cracked and broken tiles in the bathroom, paint chipped in the main room. Carpet was very worn. Mattress was saggy and pillows are flat. Very noisy with people coming and going in the corridor at night.
- Frank (8/5): - Poor access to the pool and hotel/eating areas.
- KamBen5 (2/5): Rip-off!!!!!!! - Went there with my partner for a romantic stay. Hotel was:
*Unclean
*In need of repair and Maintance
*No security at night - anyone off the street could enter the hotel and have full access to rooms on all floors, by simply using the unlocked and open door in the bar downstairs - this means that drunk patrons from the bar could have easy access to all areas of the hotel afterhours - my partner felt unsafe there at night.
*Went downstairs with my partner for dinner - was not told that downstairs bar/restaurant is a topless bar on certain evenings - Would have been extremely embarrassing and disturbing if there with parents/ family/kids - as it was, we ordered takeaways, and went back to our room.
*Noise from the bar downstairs kept us awake during the night
*Not enough lighting in the room - dark even when all lights on at night
*Room not cleaned or rubbish removed everyday
*Cost was $280 per night - was worth less than $50 per night
* Have since been told by thers, that they too had similar experiences at the hotel and that they felt mislead by the advertising.
- Albert (6/5): Average facilities but could improve. - Good early check in. Bed comfortable, only 2 pillows fir 2 people, requested more but never arrived. Was allocated ground level room for 1 night stay so was good. Had next to no toilet paper left on roll, had to request more as no spare roll in room anywhere after searching. Late arrival back from night out and supplied details fir door code worked good and explained well on document sheet. Was quiet location at night even though part of hotel complex.
- Sharon (10/5): - Quick overnight stay after a night in town with family. Beds comfortable, room clean. Staff friendly.
- Priscilla A (8/5): - .
- Kathleen (4/5): - The Frontier was relatively inexpensive and convenient to the beautiful town gardens. But, the place feels like it has been neglected. It, as a whole, and the rooms need a real facelift! As for the reception staff, they were helpful enough, but seemed disinterested and indifferent to me as a guest: warmth and a generous spirit were lacking.
- tikaneve2016 (6/5): Ok hotel for brief stay - Long walk to town but close to the botanic gardens. Rooms could use an update but sit outside at the pool. Loud live. Suicidal on weekends. Laundry room and well center. Overall a bit overpriced for the location.
- Janet (10/5): - Friendly helpful service. Convenient location Comfortable room.
- Delwyn (8/5): - room was very clean and comfortable with direct access to the magnificent pool area. Outdoor bar area was great and my partner loved topless barmaid . Very well priced
- Caleb (4/5): - Very overpriced for an old run down hotel.
- Patrick (8/5): - I liked the proximity of the property to the CBD. I disliked the hardness of the single bed.
- christine (6/5): The pool is good- otherwise just ok - The hotel had an ok reception area but rooms are very dated. Acceptable in terms of cleanliness I suppose. Nothing fancy or modern at all, being 15 mins walk to cbd and the pool are the best features.
- Des (4/5): - Very basic accommodation with limited breakfast options close by. The hotel needs a major update as pictures of the hotel and rooms must be 20 years old. Its more on the fringe of Darwin's city centre and can be a bit of a walk for seniors to the hub of activities at Darwin's Waterfront or even main eateries in Mitchell St.
- Tracey (8/5): - Great location . Clean tidy.. due for a Reno. Freindly staff. Pleasant stay.
- Shelby (6/5): - The rooms were dated and in need of renovation - peeling plater, dirty grout and poorly maintained. Staff at desk most helpful, early check-in was appreciated and staff friendly. Staff smoking at entrance was a poor first impression. Pool area needed attention, with a large area requiring landscaping and thus fenced off with plastic tape. Lots of midges near pool area and bites were plentiful. Citronella lamps/lanterns would be a great addition to this space. At night the noise in hallways from guests slamming doors and yelling out between rooms was annoying but did subside by 11pm.
- Stephen (8/5): - Room dated and needs some TLC
- Earl (10/5): Fast WiFi - Staff are excellent. Secure accommodation with fast WiFi.
- Bridget (6/5): - The hotel needs to clean the rooms thoroughly and modernise all the outdated amenities.
- Kym (10/5): - Brilliant place to stay
- narelle (8/5): - Fair price walking distant to most shops transport close
- Ashvin (6/5): Holiday Trip - Hotel isn’t located right in the heart of Darwin but it is within walking distance.
Room service was a hit and miss - sometimes room would get serviced and sometimes not. At times, I would only get 1 face washer and sometimes none (like they nothing available). Have to get tea/milk from the reception.
Showers, toilet are quite old.
Restaurant is a pokie bar.
Overall, it was ok.
- Carmel (4/5): - Unfortunately the room was not clean Only 2 towels were provided when I had booked for 3 people Asked for another towel at reception but they had none Ended up being given a pool towel The shower is over the bath and when you step into the bath to shower you immediately slip Very very dangerous Had to lay a towel on the floor of the bath to stand on to prevent anyone from slipping Meant 1 less towel to use! Told reception of issues but got a simple sorry
