Guest Reviews
- Nicky (1/5): N/A - N/A The Wootons Inn was closed. There was no communication from the Inn or Booking.com to say that it was no longer operating. I tried calling the day before to understand why it said closed but I had a confirmed room. No answer. I had to find somewhere else to stay the evening before we were due there.
Really poor and meant our stay there was not what we had wanted.
- James (1/5): Closed - Closed. Boarded up. Not open
- Hillsdon (1/5): The place was completely closed! - The place was completely closed with construction gates all around the property when we arrived. We received no notification at all from either the property or Booking.com about it being closed. It was completely closed! Couldn’t get in with construction gates surrounding it.
- Catherine (1/5): Bad -
- Clifford (1/5): Hotel closed. Terrible way to treat anyone. - Nothing We arrived after a 5 hour journey, only to find the hotel closed, and had been sold weeks / months previously. We then spent considerable time, money and effort to find accommodation for that evening.
- Denise (1/5): Bad - The property was under construction and wasn’t even taking guests so despite only booking the day before the hotel had been closed for 3 months. We were left having to find somewhere else to stay…..
this needs to be taken off booking.com NOW!
- Geoffrey (8/5): Will stay again in the future - Friendly staff grate bar located in a beautiful area Shower was not working in the room but made do with a bath
- Christine (5/5): The Wootons Inn is not somewhere we would stay again. - Breakfast was good. Location was good. The waitress who served the breakfast was very friendly and helpful. We couldn't book into the hotel til 3pm, which we know does state on the booking form. However previous places we've stayed we have still managed to put our luggage in. Also as it was a Hotel we thought we would be able to get a drink when we arrived but the Bar was also closed. Being kept awake til 01:30 in the morning from the noise in the bar and people leaving in their cars on our last night put a dampener on the stay especially as we had a three and a half hour drive home.
- Green (9/5): Superb - Friendly staff who went above and beyond.
Extremely comfortable bed and very deep bath. Very clean.
Very good location with great access to sights such as Tintagel Castle.
Lovely breakfast with a good choice of options
Thank you for having us!!
- Edit (10/5): Exceptional -
- Irene (8/5): We had a pleasant 5 nights stay there. - The breakfast was fresh every day, and a good selection to chose from. The staff were very friendly and jolly, we couldn't fault them or the breakfast. The location is perfect for walking round cliff edges with stunning views, as well as shops, old church and nice places to eat. The twin beds were comfortable and a nice size room. The water flow from the shower was little more than a dribble, as was the sink taps. There were a few repairs that needed doing, and some decorating that needed touching up. Also the hall carpet should be replaced.
- Carole (8/5): Family weekend - The location is excellent right next to the castle entrance, close to cafes and other eateries. The water was not very hot, and shower pressure was low
- Liam (1/5): Awful. Never stayed in such a worse place. - The location and ability to use carpark Our family room was directly above the bar/pool table. We wanted to get our heads down at 8.30/9pm (we have a small child and had been walking all day!) but all we could hear was sports and pumping adverts on the TV below, the loud chatter and swearing from the bar and the constant strikes of pool balls as the pool table was directly below our bed. I think the noise settled around 12.30am. Also, there were loads of 5 star reviews, but after looking closely we think they’ve been changed by the Wootons owners as the written bits are complaining but the star ratings with them are 5*. I dont know how they’ve done it but would explain why it has so many high star ratings. Super deceptive!
- Emma (8/5): Very good -
- Kathryn (9/5): Comfortable and clean room and very friendly staff. We’d definitely book again. - Delicious breakfast - all served fresh.
Room was warm and comfortable with a lovely bath.
Location is central in the village, but also quiet.
Staff were very friendly. Nothing comes to mind
- Terry (9/5): We had the most amazing time meet lots of lovely people and had lots of lovely walks with the dog. - Great place to stay very central to the town and castle. Amazing freshly cooked breakfast what a great way to start the day. Evening food was freshly cooked and very plentiful.
- Rinat (7/5): Good -
- Bergthor (9/5): Superb -
- Katarzyna (9/5): Excellent weekend getaway. - Great atmosphere, welcoming staff, good food, good location. Water pressure in the shower was a little weak, but the temperature was great.
- Philip (9/5): A gem - Clean, great location, free parking, good breakfast, staff very relaxed, cheerful and experienced - 10+ The lock on the bathroom didn't work neither did the pop up plug in the sink, easy fixes.
- Logeshwaran (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jo (7/5): Good -
- Linda (5/5): Passable -
- Phil (10/5): Exceptional - Always a pleasure staying at The Wootens, great staff, great rooms, great food. Having to come home.
- Mitica (8/5): Very good -
- Hatton (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dorota (10/5): Birthday treat - Room 12 very big, spotless cleaned and comfortable. Plenty of tea, coffee, etc. Plush cushions and blanket excellent choice and bathroom foot mat very soft. Staff very friendly and accommodating. The TV could be a bit bigger for the size of the room and bathroom sink tricky to fill the kettle.
- Gary (9/5): Really enjoyed our weekend friendly and welcoming - Really friendly welcome, stayed for out wedding anniversary. Room good size and comfortable.
- Kevin (9/5): Superb -
- Agerico (8/5): Very good -
- Leanne (7/5): Was lovely and we wouldn’t have minded about the party if we had a heads up about it. - The location was perfect and the staff were lovely. The staff never mentioned to me and my partner that they had a party happening until gone 11pm Saturday night. We couldn’t sleep, the room was shaking the noise was horrific. I understand it’s a pub but it was honestly soo loud, we had to have the tv on so loud to be able to even hear anything. We had a long 3 hour drive home Sunday morning and was very tired. Was not happy.
- Andreia (9/5): I hope I come back again - Lovely place, great and nice staff. Very clean
Good breakfast, I really hope to came back.
- Sally (8/5): Very good - Good location, comfy bed, great breakfast, friendly staff.
- Lucy (4/5): Ok - Location Noise from other rooms
- Toshikazu (5/5): Nice location with parking - The location is perfect. Parking space is available.
Full English breakfast with nice view was fantastic. Shower has some problem with insufficient water pressure. Water temperature didn't reach an acceptable level.
Free Wi-Fi is very weak. Mobile network is not available in the room either, and we have trouble accessing the internet.
We had a twin room. The bed width is a bit too narrow for us.
- Ria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vanessa (9/5): Would return - Staff was very accommodating
Lots of towels, tea and toiletries.
Food was great location was great
Clean rooms Just a caution
The bar stays open late and you can hear the pool table if you’re in the back of the hotel.
My kiddos sleep through everything so it was fine.
The water pressure and temp of water was lacking. The pressure is less than a garden hose.
- Julie (8/5): Nice place to stay - Great location, walking distance to all the sights. Nice breakfast. Friendly staff. Water pressure in shower wasn't good.
- Grant (10/5): Would stay again - Lovely building right by the track to the castle and Merlin's cave . Great food and selection of beers
- Gordon (9/5): Superb -
- Sandra (10/5): Ideal place - Location .staff ,breakfast ,facilities all excellent.
Would highly recommend it’s not the ritz but it’s a great place . Nothing
- Karen (8/5): Absolutely loved our stay and would definately return. Especially loved how dog friendly hotel is. - The breakfast was lovely and there was no problem catering for us as im vegan and my son is vegetarian. Lovely choices on the menu.
- Lauren (8/5): Really enjoyed it - Amazing location, breakfast was amazing and staff were helpful and friendly. Room was a nice size and bed was very comfortable. The shower flooded as the screen didn’t have a seal to keep it fixed to the bath
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Pihlajaniemi (10/5): Super location, awesome breakfast and pet friendly! - Beautiful room in a great location, just next to the start of the walk to go see Tintagel Castle. Right on the main road by all the shops and other pubs if you want to visit them. The breakfast was amazing and very customisable to what you would want on a particular day.
Good sized car park to leave our vehicle in, filled in and out as people visited the pub but we didn't really move the car during our stay so no issues with parking!
We brought our dog with us who loved her stay, there was a 10 GBP surcharge for pet cleaning the room which was communicated to us well in advance and it was all good! No major complaints, the new towels were a bit frequent and we weren't sure if we needed to deposit the used towels somewhere so we just had them stashed in the room until the end of our stay. Hoping this was ok and didn't cause an issue!
- Leah (8/5): We had a wonderful rainy night in Tintagel! - Great Value for money, ideal location close to pubs, shops, and the castle (absolutely amazing magical place), the staff were really friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. Wide selection of drinks and a pool table . Will definitely be back. Shower could have done with more pressure.
- Wayne (10/5): Exceptional - Clean , tidy , friendly , good breakfast , helpful staff Shower pressure too low (a trickle at best) . Noise from music downstairs is very audible upstairs
- Jane (5/5): Fabulous location and lovely staff. Breakfast was great - Breakfast was fab. Location was perfect. All staff very nice. Room extremely dated. Shower cold water didn’t work so it was boiling hot! Fabulous location and great parking. Booking.com states 4*. It was not 4* I didn’t like that Booking.com advertised this hotel as 4* and it wasn’t. It meant our expectations were MUCH higher than was delivered by the property. Shower temperature control didn’t work, was boiling! Heard others complain about this. Paint peeling from the walls in the very dated bedroom
- Preston (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicholas (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (8/5): It’s cheep and cheerfull nice pub garden - Good location value for money good breakfast We have stayed at the wootons inn a few times now it’s starting to go down hill a bit needs a bit of money spent on it now painting ect they stop serving food at 20.00 hrs
- Ellen (7/5): Great location good food and a comfortable bed. -
- Chris (8/5): Best location in Tintagel and excellent value for money - Fabulous location at the head of the village with wonderful views.
Excellent value for money.
Friendly staff Decor a bit tired but in the context of price it is offset by location and cleanliness
- Stephen (8/5): Very good -
- Rory (8/5): Very good -
- John (9/5): A great start to our holiday en route to South West Cornwall - The full English breakfast was epic! Location is perfect for visiting Tintagel Castle: access a few minutes walk.
All other pubs & shops just along the high street. Can’t think of anything
- Bogdan (8/5): Very good - Perfect location, good breakfast. Shower didn't work except in hot and very hot.
Beds super small.
- Zakrevskis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (7/5): Good - The breakfast was good. Nothing dislike.
- Diane (5/5): Budget accommodation in a delightful village. - It was in a lovely little village right beside Tintagel Castle ruins. Wonderful staff that were extremely helpful. Dim lighting. Too hard to read. No hot water for a shower in the morning.
- Dorothy (8/5): Very good - Breakfast was very good and staff especially Tom were extremely friendly and helpful Grab rail in bath
- Kieran (8/5): Very good -
- Susanne (7/5): Good -
- Debbie (8/5): A true Cornwall experience - Beautiful location and a fantastic breakfast N/A
- Karen (9/5): Superb - Excellent customer service, very helpful in making sure everything went well, calling a taxi for us when we kept. Good food!! No twin beds available
- Vanessa (10/5): Perfect stay for us on our travels across the UK. - From the moment we walked in we loved it. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable and had a beautiful view of the church on the hill. The breakfast was devine and so filling. The Wootons Inn was perfectly positioned for the Tintagel Castle walk and handy to shops. Nothing. It was perfect.
- Emma (9/5): Superb - Staff were friendly and accommodating. Good selection of beers. Good choice of food. Breakfast was well cooked and generous.
- Mrs (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karolyn (8/5): Very good - Location perfect to explore the town and castle.
Staff were friendly and food delicious. Great breakfast. The bed was very small and old. Bedding could do with updating.
- Robert (8/5): Mostly great, just a couple of little bits that didn't go great - Breakfast was tasty, the bar was fun. The staff is really friendly and nice. The location is fantastic, it is just outside of the entrance to the castle ruins and on the little high street in Tintagel village. Lots of other things to explore within walking distance. The bar was a bit loud at night if you are trying to sleep, but I am a heavy sleeper so it wasn't a problem for me but was for my partner. The wifi is not good but I'm not sure that can be helped much given the remote location. Finally the fridge in the room did not work.
- Sofiia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brynden (8/5): Nice and central to all activities, with off road parking. - Location was very central to everything in Tintagel. Had fairly easy access to off road parking on premises. Breakfast was very good.
- Jody (6/5): Pleasant -

- Danny (10/5): Yes - The hotel was in a great location
- Gail (7/5): Had a nice visit and enjoyed the surrounding area. - Great location and parking, Lovely room, comfortable bed and clean bathroom, nice breakfast. It was very noisy in our room from the bar below.
- Manoo (8/5): Ideal place for a weekend break - Ideal location for village and perfect for Tintagel Castle
- Manov (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patouille (7/5): Good - The location is perfect, the road to The castle is right behind the hotel. The restaurant/breakfast area is quite nice. The room was not really clean. Also, the beds are quite small to fit a normal size couple...
- Nicholas (8/5): Top location, great staff and very nice food & drink with ample parking. - Excellent location. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. The Inn was perfect for drinks and lunch/dinner. The included breakfast was very nice and was catered for your own preference, which was very much appreciated. We very much enjoyed our stay! The rooms were clean and tidy but the water pressure in the shower was really poor. The bathroom in our room was in need of a revamp.
- Lisa (8/5): Very good - Amazing location!
- Michael (8/5): Excellent. Already made a recommendation to family and friends - The breakfast was excellent. Wonderful food and fast service. I loved the way it was organised, with the menu organised each day with a full and varied selection and your room number pre booking your table. That was a really nice touch. The location was perfect. The staff were extremely friendly and could not do enough to help. We especially appreciated all the help from Paula and Gary. Well done to all the staff and thank you to the chef. Nothing.
- Jane (8/5): Very enjoyable - Staff excellent and very helpful. Food good
- Nicola (8/5): Very good - Location and the family room for 5.
Kids had bunk beds which they loved. The staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. Nothing we didn’t like
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Scott (8/5): Very good -
- Jenny (7/5): Pleasant basic room, very clean. Staff friendly and it was very dog friendly. - Rooms were very basic but clean and comfortable. It was a bit pricey for the standard of the room but it was bank holiday weekend so to be fair it was to be expected
- Kurt (7/5): Good - THE WOOTONS-INN IS FROM OUR POINT OF VIEW WITH THE VERY FRIENDLY SERVICE PEOPLE , A GENUE ENGLISH FINE BREAKFAST THE PERFECT STAY TO VISIT THE HISTORIC AND TRADITIONALLY FILLED TINTAGEL !
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - Convenient for exploring Tintagel. A bit noisy on the street but things quieted down at a reasonable hour.
- Reid (8/5): Very good - Location was perfect and the food excellent. The room was large and very comfortable Our room No # 1 had a very bright emergency exit light inside the room which made it difficult to sleep
- Julie (6/5): Pleasant -
- Lama (10/5): Exceptional - Well location for Tintagel Castle and friendly customer service 😊
- Ria (10/5): Lovely cosy stay with fab food :) - It was central and had everything we needed as a family :)
- Greta (7/5): Good -
- Kristin (7/5): Good -
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - Rm was lovely and clean. Bed was really comfy. Breakfast was awesome. Friendly atmosphere. Welcoming and a relaxed pub with yummy pizzas and chips. Shower was too hot. But they were aware of the problem.
- Lauren (2/5): Appalling, avoid at all cost! - Not a lot. It’s only redeeming feature was car parking and location . On walking up to the front door, it was a mess through the windows, and once in front door it was just a dirty depressing mess. No reception area to speak of, just a bell. Staff member who greeted was nice. Carpets filthy, bar area etc very uninviting. When we got to room, it was just as bad. There is absolutely nothing redeeming about this property whatsoever. Once in bed, the noise from the bar was terrible, it literally sounded like there was a huge party in the next room. We also had the noise of chairs continuously scrapping on the floor above us. The next morning we left before 8am as we couldn’t stay a moment longer, and we’re not willing to wait until 8.30am when the breakfast service started. We had to unlock the front door ourselves as everything inside was dark with no sole to be seen.
- Antonio (8/5): Fantastic location, friendly and helpful, will definitely go back! - Great location, it does what it says on the tin. Room was comfortable, staff were very friendly and helpful. There was an issue with the shower that could not be fixed, I had an apology and a drink on the house :-) nice! Food was good and portions were massive. Excellent breakfast to set you up for a day of exploting. We had a bit of an issue with the water pressure in the shower but, understandably, it could not be fixed on the spot.
- Nicola (7/5): Good -
