Lovely touches in the room including a nespresso machine and L’occitane minis. It was walkable to the centre and located on a very pretty canal. Also close enough to the metro station if you’re in a hurry. Lovely coffee shops local too.

- Robin (10/5): A perfect home base for our Kyoto adventure! - This property is beautiful! It’s located on a quiet street with a stream right out front. It’s a 5 to 10 minute walk to Nishiki Market and all the Kyoto shopping you could ask for. Five minutes to the train station and bus stops. The beds were very comfortable. There’s hot water pots, microwave, and refrigerator in the room, along with tea, cups and tea. The staff is exceptionally helpful. They even went to the trouble of shipping me a small container we left in the room. Couldn’t recommend this more highly. We loved everything about it!

Il persone gentilissimo, colazione in camera (da pagare extra), stanza molto ampia, ma la vera chicca è il bagno tradizionale in legno che funziona come una sauna (separato dal wc e dal lavandino). All'interno della stanza troverai un kimono a testa, ciabattine, macchina del caffè, bollitore. Tutto incredibile! La posizione è un pochino scomoda, non centralissima. Ma è solo un piccolo dettaglio, è davanti a un fiume che scorre, quindi è comunque una struttura molto silenziosa. Non ha tanti ristoranti intorno, importante tenerlo a mente
- Lindsay (10/5): Exceptional in every way - As all the previous reviews mention: this place is exceptional! Absolutely every detail has been thought of with care. We ended our two week travels of Japan here and were so happy we did. While loving traditional ones a, having a private cypress tub was beyond my expectations. They were able to accommodate our vegetarian request for breakfast, and we found it just perfect. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. You won’t regret booking additional days here if you can!

- Lauren (10/5): Great location - Great location - lovely quiet street but close to train stations and walkable to main attractions around the Gion and station area. Staff were very attentive and breakfast was good. The room was brilliant - very spacious with everything we needed. The bathroom with wooden bath was lovely too. Would definitely recommend staying here if wanting to be in the Gion area!

Angefangen bei der Lage des Hotels, weiter beim super freundlichen Personal an der Hotelrezeption bis hin zum sehr geschmackvoll eingerichteten Zimmer hat uns alles sehr gefallen. Im Badezimmer wird einem alles zur Verfügung gestellt was man für die Körperpflege benötigt und das Zimmer ist traditionell mit einer Holzbadewanne ausgestattet. Es war sehr sauber und wir konnten eine schöne Zeit dort verbringen. Wir werden dieses Hotel bestimmt wieder buchen. es hat uns nichts gefehlt.

- Zhi Cong Donald (9/5): I’d stay again the next time I visit Kyoto. - The staff were amazing and the highlight of our stay. The room was beautiful and the sandalwood bath was the cherry on top of the cake. It’s a short bus ride from Gion or Shijo, sometimes the bus is really crowded though. Still have to walk about 10mins after the bus stop, which is actually a plus point in the spring because of the beautiful street the hotel is located, but I think the walk will be tough in summer or winter.

- Sabine (9/5): Perfekte Basis für Kyoto - Die Unterkunft ist sehr gut gelegen, Parkplatz, Restaurants und viele Sehenswürdigkeiten zu Fuß erreichbar. Gleich Nebenan gibt es eine sehr gute Kraft-Bier Bar. Die Fenster können geöffnet werden und auch die Hygiene Artikel sind in großer Zahl vorhanden. Besonders hervorzuheben möchte ich die Kommunikation vorab. Alle Fragen wurden prompt beantwortet und auch ein Restaurant wurde vom Personal reserviert, perfekt. Das Personal war sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich. Jederzeit wieder.

The location was great, close to two train stations and a bus stop, making it easy to get around the city. The room was large and spacious, and the bathroom was well maintained, including creams and body care products. The shower and toilet were in separate areas, which made getting ready in the morning much more convenient. The staff were kind and thoughtful, providing umbrellas at the entrance on rainy days for guests to use and return. They also efficiently handled our luggage shipment, which helped us save valuable time on our way to our next destination. Highly recommended — we truly enjoyed our stay. none:)

- Rosalind (10/5): Peaceful hotel in a great location - We had a great stay at Kyoto Takasegawa Bettei! The location is brilliant, super close to two stations but on a very peaceful street with a canal running down it. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was huge, and the star of the show was obviously the wooden bath tub, which we used to relax at the end of every day. So special. We really loved our stay here and hope to come back again one day!

- Hassan (10/5): Kyoto - The hotel is amazing!!! The location is perfect. The room is AMAZING , spacious, incredibly well designed and comfortable and the hotel staff are very helpful. That I had to leave.

- Trent (10/5): A really pleasant stay with a solid location and very clean rooms - The front desk were very pleasant, friendly and spoke great English. The room was spacious and extremely clean. In room breakfast was a nice option to have since most places don’t open until 9a or so. Motion censor lights in the bathroom with the exception of the shower room
- Seth (9/5): A lovely place in the heart of Northern Kyoto to stay for a night or a week - The Japanese Breakfasts were wonderful. The cypress wood tub was stunningly comfortable and we made a point to use it every day. The staff were incredibly attentive and impressed with their ability to forsee issues. They also consistently recalled prior conversations we had with them and prepare documentation or complimentary goods for our examination and usage. The only thing that I could really call out as a negative is that there are few places to be able to organize your travel supplies and luggage. There is a closet, which is useful but you must be comfortable with pulling fresh laundry from your suitcase on a daily basis and with all of your travel detritus (phone chargers, coinage, tickets, brochures, etc) covering all of the surfaces of the lovely room, making it less lovely. I'm also on the taller side and I found the water closet constraining enough to be challenging at times since I don't like to clean with bidets.
- Matej (9/5): A charming traditional ryokan with thoughtful modern amenities and excellent service. - A great experience overall. The ryokan has a beautifully traditional feel, complemented by thoughtful modern touches. The amenities are excellent and well-equipped — we especially appreciated the free umbrellas, electric shoe dryers, quality bathroom cosmetics, and the included coffee and tea. The staff were incredibly kind and accommodating throughout our stay. The location is also ideal — convenient, pleasant, and easy to explore on foot. One downside was the breakfast. We had the Western option three days in a row, and it started to feel quite repetitive. Since breakfast is served in the room, there isn’t flexibility or choice. On the fourth day, we tried the Japanese breakfast, but unfortunately it wasn’t to our taste. There were four of us, and none of us particularly enjoyed it — we found it a bit bland, especially compared to the incredible Japanese cuisine we’ve experienced elsewhere.
