Guest Reviews
- Lauraandluketravel (6/5): Upgraded from 1 star to 3 stars bc they let us switch rooms - This is a tricky review. As we walked to reception to check in we noticed a foul sewage smell. Once in our cabin (cabin 2) the smell intensified. The cabin itself was very run down and dirty. I was obsessively reading the reviews to see if anyone mentioned this and there was nothing. The place is not good at all! Chipped cabinets, dirty walls and chairs, etc. The smell was getting so intense and bad we had to ask them if the sewage system exploded. They said they noticed the smell too. They moved us to the bottom unit closest to the parking area and it was better. I’m giving a 3 bc the second unit was updated and cleaner (especially the bathroom) but we could still smell the sewage. They were apologetic and kind but yikes at that cabin 2! We would have had to suck up the cost and find a new accommodation or sleep in the car if they were fully booked.
Also.. beautiful view
- 691tulint (2/5): Be serios Garsnes Brygge - We visited Garsnes brygge to drink coffee and eat something sweet. we ordered 3 pancakes with ice cream, jam and 1 chocolate mousse.
the waiter came with the food after 20 minutes. we were served cold, not fully cooked pancakes that were bought from a store. pancakes were served with 1 cube of ice cream, literally cheap jam and 1/4 strawberry. the price is 115 kr.
the chocolate mousse is also from a grocery store. It is a very disappointing experience. I call this coffee visit as a cold scam.
- Mikko (8/5): - Nicelocal cambing cottage. Great cook but long to wait.
- fabiobM3560AO (4/5): Nice but... - Very nice place, but they didn't respect the agreement of serving the breakfast at 8 a.m., well, they didn't show up at all, notwithstanding we paid for it. We call them on the phone but we got no answer and they never called back to apologise. We don't know what happened.
- Petri Marko (6/5): - Kyllä Nykypäivänä huoneistoissa pitäisi olla micro uuni.vanhemmat kalastaja huoneistot 2 kpl.keittiön kaapiston ovet putoamassa irti, ikkunoiden avauskahvat irti.Piti itse kiristellä kaikki ruuvit.
- Kevin (2/5): - There was no information about our booking. The hotel is fully booked. Sent us to a nearby motel
- HelenDudley1973 (8/5): Charming chalet - A wonderful chalet next to the water. The accommodation is well designed. Good kitchen, living and dining area. We stayed for 1 evening as a stop over so unfortunately didn’t have time to properly explore the area and in hindsight I would have liked to have stayed longer.
- Petri Marko (10/5): - Kaikki vaan on niin hyvin hoidettu 10 .
- Mandy (8/5): - Großes Ferienhaus, schöne Lage. Leider ging der Herd beim Kochen oft aus, vorallem wenn man alle Platten gleichzeitig benutzen musste.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fantastisk natur og sted - Utrolig flott og fredfylt sted.
- VADGEI (10/5): Excellent food - Location of Garnes Brygge must be visit personaly, cause photos for this establishment dont give enough creidit. The rastaurant has excellent good food and a staff more than execellent. The resturant have also an exquisitely atmosphere.
- Gro (10/5): Nydelig plass - Fantastisk flott plass, har sjelden sett bedre. Vi var der en natt, .Men kunne tenkt oss lengre opphold.
- vanderh0rst (8/5): Lovely place worth a cisi - We had a 6-8 person chalet to ourselves during our stay (just the way the booking worked out). Very nice staff. Gave us free use of the hot tub as it was our honeymoon. Chalet itself was very well decked out. Smart and clean. We ended up eating at the restaurant which they opened for us as it was the off season, which was kind. In hindsight we should have cooked for ourselves in the well equipped kitchen in the chalet itself. Only gripe was that the food was nice but overpriced but we now know that’s just how it is when eating out in Norway - everywhere is expensive! Views from chalet were very nice as well. Would stay again if we were in the area.
- PetriLeh (10/5): Great accommodation with superb restaurant - Garsnes Brygge is great location for a stay. We stopped here on the way to Lofotes. Garsnes Brygge is located by the Fjord over water. Our ”hut” could accomodate up to eight people in three bedrooms. The living room is large and it had great outdoor patio with view to west. There is kitchenette with fridge, air conditioner, TV and wifi. There are additional services available (jacuzzi, boat rental, bike rental etc.) for additional fee.
Garsnes Brygge features a superb restaurant (rumour says that it is full on weekends, so make advance reservation). We tried two different starters, two differwnt main courses and desert. All the different portions were superb. For a Norwegian restaurant, it was reasonably priced.
On the way to Garsnes, there is nice small forss under an old bridge. Definately worth a stop
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property has a wonderful view secluded from civilization.
- TravellingTerrier (10/5): Beautiful scenery from the balcony - It is a pleasure to stay in this large and clean and luxury cottage. Beautiful scenery from the landscape windows. And also from the balcony adjacent to the kitchen. The shower room and shower place is spacious. Very service minded staff. Not ideal surroundings to walk your dog but the view is fantastic everywhere. The nearby restaurant was not open on Mondays and Tuesdays during our stay. Nevertheless we were able to have a meal on the Tuesday evening. Wi-Fi is fast and password protected. No extra charge for our dog.
- MLH190479 (10/5): North Norway. Peace, quiet and open air - If you're going to North Norway, this is a wonderful place to visit. These cabins are situated on the water, neat and modern, and the view from ours was stunning.
The restaurant in the main house provides a nice breakfast, and the lunch and dinner is tasty and delicious. You can rent a boat and go fishing - just ask the helpful and nice staff - or sip a glass of wine on the porch enjoying the view as I did.
- oliverd (8/5): Cabins right on the water in a quiet location - Great location, with all of the cabins situated right on the fjord. Was perfect for taking photos of the aurora. Staff were very friendly and good choice of food in the restaurant for adults and kids. Would have been a 5-star review, but when we opened the door to our cabin it smelt - despite the "no smoking" signs everywhere - that the previous guests had spent their entire stay chain-smoking cigars in the cabin! (We should have said requested a different cabin, as we ended up having to wash all of our clothes, but it would have been obvious to the cleaners there was a problem.)
- simsam2016 (10/5): Epic view - Just to clarify for @Bolander_001: The AC works as a heat pump also, so thats the reason. Garsnes offers a stunning view, epic dinners and a warming staff. At present moment they have 3 new cabins with 2 apartments in each.(8 totally) All of them have the same "down to the water"- view. I have stayed here several times, and highly recommend the mid-summer period with midnight sun and trout/salmon splashing just outside your doorstep.
- Bolander_001 (6/5): Your experience will depend on the day of your stay - Good location on the edge of the fjord, with great fjord views; only two cabins; outside of town, so generally quiet (except for Saturday evenings, as noted below). Close to the road skirting the fjord, but traffic is very light and road noise is not an issue.
Bright and clean and well stocked with basic groceries for self catering.
Equipment is a mixed bag: washing machine and dryer are very helpful and the cabin has an air conditioner (why???), but no microwave oven or dish washer or ironing facilities. Small refrigerator, with no freezer compartment.
Bedrooms are basic Norwegian cabin style, but spacious enough. Blinds in the rooms are inadequate to keep out the midnight sun, and the cabin remains bright throughout summer nights.
The big issue with these cabins is that the restaurant / bar plays VERY loud live music, on the open deck, literally next to the cabins, from 23:00 to 02:00 on Saturday evenings. Sleep / rest is not even remotely possible.
Please warn your guests about this at the time of booking, and give us a choice to accept it, join in or find other accommodation. In my case I booked months in advance (with no warning), checked in on a Friday (no warning) and was asked to pay for the full stay immediately (no warning). The first warning came 3 hours before the music was about to start on Saturday evening, when the owner knocked on our door to tell us that there will be live entertainment, and to offer ear plugs (which are of course useless with live music 20 meters away).
My experience has to be split: Saturday = 0/5; other nights = 4/5, which I will generously average to 3/5. Highly recommended and good value for money if you stay when there is no live entertainment. Absolutely avoid on Saturdays if you want peace and quiet (which I was under the impression I was booking).
- Joehenri (8/5): Relaxing stay at a great place - The cabins at Garsnes Brygge are spacious, bright and with huge windows for enjoying the view of the Sagfjord also from the inside. The scenery is not as spectacular as what you get in Senja and other locations further west, but nonetheless truly beautiful and most likely one of the best you get in this area of Troms. There are only two cabins here, giving the venue a truly exclusive and relaxing feeling.
Jacuzzi, bikes and boat for fishing available for hire. The included Wi-Fi is fast, a lot of channels on the TV and washing machine and tumble dryer located on the bathroom. The bathroom is located adjacent to the bedrooms and is not sound isolated, so doing laundry after the kids have gone to bed is a mistake you only do once. Unfortunately, sounds from nightly toilet visits also carries well into the adjacent bedrooms.
There is a restaurant at the premises, but we did not have the opportunity to try it this time around, but definitely will next time. Pricing is absolutely reasonable by Norwegian standards. Observe that bed linens are not included in the price, so advisory to bring your own, especially if you are many people staying for a short time.
We truly enjoyed our stay, and will most likely return if ever in need of lodging in this area again.
