Seaton (3/5): Don't stay here - Location Carpets looked they were never cleaned, paint peeling from doors, TV didn't work on one room, sink clogged in the first room, walls dirty. Had to leave early by one day asked for one day refund - property never responded

Richard (8/5): Good, clean bargain. - Rooms were very clean. Nice covered patio area in back. Very friendly staff. Very good price. Back away from highway so not too much traffic noise. Bathroom vent fan didn't work and one of the electrical outlets was missing the cover.
Roger (1/5): I wouldn’t stay here again if they paid me to. - The property is close to town. The tub spigot leaked constantly, the sink filled with water when you just tried to wash your hands. There is no phone, no alarm clock, no information packet, an old microwave and an old mini refrigerator. If you look at the picture of the bed and zoom in on that burgundy sash, you will see a big yellowish type stain right in the middle of it! You can’t see the leak in the tub, but it is there! Their so-called breakfast is toast or bagel, raisin bran or frosted flakes, and instant oatmeal. That’s it! Coffee in an air pot. Not even any half-and-half! Two nights in a row at 1 o’clock in the morning, the occupants from the room next door were chitchatting with whom I believe was the overnight employee. They stood at the door smoking and stinking up the entire area, even though it’s supposed to be non-smoking and talked and giggled and made all kinds of noise. I finally had to get up my last night there and open the door and tell them to stop making so much noise. Of course, then my room smelled like cigarettes just from opening the door. I cannot believe this place is even a two star. It shouldn’t even be rated. Of course, when you are the only motel within 15 miles of Salem, there’s no competition so you don’t have to be any good. If there had been another motel in town, I would’ve left that place immediately after arriving there and gone somewhere else. It was absolutely horrible!
Paul (8/5): No problems - They had plumbing issues in one area with little to know hot water. Informed front desk and they kindly moved us to another room and all was well. This is not a compliant. Only a suggestion I understand they are a small regional motel that caters to workers and a few travelers ,Tourists. It would be nice if they had a limited hot breakfast, ie waffle or pancake maker, microwave bacon etc. currently only bagel Toast and Cereal. But I understand stand they aren’t a large chain.

Lisa (1/5): This place is absolutely disgusting. - The fact it was close to my parents. The fact that the first room I was given was absolutely disgusting. The beds were already slept in but made as if they weren't. It was a double queen room. One bed had dirt in it and the other bed was used for sex. It was gross as hell. Plus their tv didnt work in there. I was put in another room after showing the hostess. That room had no wipe down at all. There was soap scum with hair stuck in it on the shelf above the sink. Hair on shower walls and on the floor. Soda can rings and something sticky all over the tables. Broken tile all around the jacuzzi, which I wasn't about to use. I wanted coffee the next morning but the lobby where it was supposed to be was still closed. I left at 8:30 and it was still dark in there so I left without letting them know I was leaving. Never again will I stay there. You shouldn't either.

SADRUDDIN (1/5): VERY HORRIBLE!!! - NOTHING AT ALL!! BATHROOM WAS DIRTY AND HAD MOLD, MICROWAVE WAS DIRTY, FIRST ROOM HEATER WAS NOT TURNING OFF, THEY MADE ME CHANGE ROOMS AT 1:AM!! THE 2ND ROOM THE PHONE WAS MISSING AND MICROWAVE & FRIDGE DIDN'T WORK AT ALL!! I CHANGED TO THE 3RD ROOM THE NEXT DAY TABLE LAMP AND MICROWAVE WERE BOTH MISSING!! MOLD AGAIN IN THE SHOWER KNOBS & T.V. DIDNT WORK!! CHANGED 3 ROOMS IN 2 NIGHTS AND STILL WAS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE AND FRUSTRATED!!

Coni (5/5): Dog - Staff was friendly A dog kept scratching at our door. The dog came in our room several times when we were watching TV. It was a large Husky. I went out to smoke, and it pushed the door open and went in on my wife. There was a lot of dog poop out front that got stepped in. Very nasty. The snow was dee, and after 3 days from the storm it still hadn't been cleared.

Could use a couple driveway markers for folks coming in after dark (wife missed the turn twice, but that's not unusual). Didn't have a coffee pot in the room, but I think they serve some and there's a small coffee shop pretty much next door.

Sherri (1/5): I didn't stay I slept in my car. - It was a nice hotel until I went in and turned on the light and roaches ran to hide. When i turned on the lights and roaches ran I knew I wouldn't be staying there. They wouldn't give me a refund when I asked for one. The desk clerk was very rude and would argue with you, very unprofessional. She told me how a company was just out that day to spray the hotel. Well I'm very sensitive to chemicals and believe me if they were there they better get their money back because if they sprayed I had no reaction to the chemicals. I own my own business and my employees will not be going there instead they'll be staying at the Crown Lake Resort, while they're out there it's a much nicer place. To bad for Cottonwood Inn, they lost a bunch of money seeing my company employees will be traveling out there a lot!! After seeing bugs I knew Cottonwood Inn wasn't a place for me or my employees.

Michael (8/5): - Our third stay at this property...looks like a new crew is there...Tami and Haley were working their butts off ...the King room we were in was improved with new shower and tub and large tv....place was clean...air was ice cold. Bed was very comfortable and the ladies were super nice...the price was awesome...for a quick stop over you can't complain.

Ken (1/5): Bed bugs - The woman who worked at the counter was very kind........The location is good. I'm sad to give this review because when I stayed here about 2 years ago it was very nice......Seems to have spiraled down in a hurry since then......The A/C did not work well and the breakfast is pretty meager compared to the last stay....I can overlook some things like that because I'm not overly pick........But I have to now rate this place a 1 because there were bed bugs in my room......I felt badly for the employee because I called around 12:30 at night and probably woke her up. She was very sweet and let me change rooms. But it was very dirty (hairs all over the floor and what looked like blood stains there as well) and in the morning I noticed more bed bugs. I can get over a few bites if I later see them appear. But the frightening thing is that they may have gotten into my luggage or other personal items.......I would not expect a full refund since I did spend the one night-but think I should have been offered at least a partial one. However......the employee may not have been authorized to do that so I don't blame her and as I said she was very nice........Sorry to have to give this review but maybe it will spur some much needed positive changes.

The rooms were not the cleanest the ones they tried to put us in at first had been smoked in and they were supposed to be non smoking. One room they tried placing us in had an adult toy in and the only had dirty sheets.

Kristen (10/5): Great option for a low price! - I grew up in Salem and there’s not much of an option available. Came into town for a funeral. The Cottonwood has a history of not being the best. But I was pleasantly surprised! For the rate you are paying it was actually pretty great! Room was clean and ready at arrival. Linens were nice, bed was comfy. I chose the room with a kitchenette and it suited my needs. Breakfast provided, small but adequate. I would gladly stay here again.

We went staff and showed them the bugs and they didnt want to believe us at first , they did finally admit it was indeed a bedbug and switched us to another room. We had no choice but to stay there as there was no other openings anywhere and nothing under 40 minutes away , let alone it was after 10 pm in the evening . We had just finished a full days travel and were exhausted. We were highly disappointed

The ladies were busting their A**es . Also recommended an excellent restaurant for delivery to the motel. The shower head was approximately 4-1/2 foot on the wall. It's not very practical for anyone 6 feet tall . Every time our neighbors closed their door, the bed would shake. We had to listen to what they were watching on TV. I'm not complaining, just stating the facts.

Cox (4/5): Good but could use improvement - The staff was nice. A blonde lady did a great job taking care of us at the front desk. Other guests obviously felt very comfortable! We often saw groups of guests at the outdoor tables having conversations. We stayed in room 24. Smelled strongly of smoke when we first entered the room. Whoever cleaned our room while we were out moved our belongings that were on the beds and end tables. Put things that were out into bags. Felt very exposed and like they had gone through my things. Shower had some stains and the drain looked pretty gross.
holly (2/5): Beware!! Bedbugs and cockroaches!! - Thankfully, I always check rooms at all places my family and I stay in prior to taking in any luggage, etc bc my kids and I were unable to stay at the cottonwood inn as planned due to a huge presence of flies throughout the room when we walked in, bedbug feces on both boxsprings and a cockroach crawling on the wall behind the door as we were leaving before even being in the room for 5 mins. I have rightfully so asked for a refund and even tho I have pics to prove the presence of the bedbugs and the cockroach, I have been denied a refund from hotels.com bc the owner of the Inn will not respond to any messages or calls sent by hotels.com or myself to verify that a refund can be given bc it’s at their discretion, although the woman working when we left said hotels.com would have to issue the refund. Do yourself a favor and don’t book a room at this place and if you do, check the room out WELL before taking anything in! Due to the room being infested, my kids and I had to drive an additional 30 mins after driving all day on our first day of vacation to find another hotel, which cost me another $150 I wasn’t planning to spend on our family vacation.
Tessiah (8/5): - Beds were clean which is my main concern. Was glad about that. Rest of the room could be cleaned better. Under the beds were pretty dirty. Just some more fine tune cleaning and bits of updating would be what could be better. Front dest lady was awesome! Very kind and helpful. Would stay again for the price.

Verified traveler (4/5): Not the best, had better hotel stays before - The first room we were put in, the refrigerator was barely cooling our perishable items. The air conditioner was barely cooling the room. Bathroom was dirty, with stains in the tub, and the floors throughout the room was dirty. There was a smell in the room. The door was hard to open when we first went in, and it didnt fewl very secure, with only a chain to secure the door. The bottom part automatically locks when you shut it,but it still didnt feel very secure. Stayed 2 nights, but after 1st night, we contemplated getting a refund & finding a different hotel. Thwres not many options in the area. We talked to 1 lady working that day who was cleaning rooms, mentioning the poor conditions. We slept poorly 1st night &woke up sweating because of the a/c. It looked as if it was broken on vent. The curtains hung down from the window above it, partially covered the vents. I made sure to move the curtains out of the way. The other rooms she showed us werent much better than the 1sr one. Some had no refrigerator at all, & others had refrigerators that were the same as the 1st room. Finally found one that was better, but stilll was not that great but the a/c worked much better and the refrigerator worked a little bit better as well. The showerhead was really low and made it uncomfortable taking a shower, it drained slowly and the water pressure wasnt great. The breakfast was not great either, not much of a selection:bagels, toast, dry cereal, oatmeal packets, milk ,OJ, and coffee

Taylor (10/5): A 412 Mini Heaven - The extra large and deep jacuzzi was heaven after being on my feet for 12+ hours! & the staff were incredibly helpful from helping give me directions every 20 minutes or so bc i wasnt local round there and my gps just gave up on me! I will definetly be back to these clean beautiful and absolute treasures these rooms andntheir staff are ! And i love thatbits up on a hill, kinda. Feels more honey somehow, idk! hezzy_t (10/5): Hidden Gem in Arkansas - We were lucky enough to find this motel to stay in for the 2024 eclipse. They were the only hotel in 500 miles that weren’t gouging prices and were in the path of totality. We had an absolutely fantastic 2 day stay. Everyone that worked there was friendly and the rooms were clean and had nice amenities. The outside covered patio was really nice to sit out on during the afternoon and evening. Great location and within short distance to a few restaurants and a grocery store.

Verified traveler (2/5): Disgusting - Horrible room!! So not believe the gods reviews. Large black spiders, a fist sized hole in the wall, carpet filthy and torn, the smell of the room was nauseating, one light didn't work, the tv wouldn't come on and stains on the bed. We left without staying.

Monica (1/5): Bad - Barely made it up the hill into the motel parking lot. Hasn’t been cleared from the foot of snow that we got. Four wheel drive and driving hard on the vehicle to get up the hill thru all the snow and ice. If you’re going to rent the rooms then you should be able to afford to clear your parking lot. Got checked into the room and the toilet tries to flood everytime you flush it. Got a toilet plunger and it still didn’t fix the problem. About the only positive about the place was the staff that checked us in was very nice. Asked her about the parking lot being cleared and she just simply said the motel doesn’t do it. That’s poor customer service. You know your on a hill and it just dropped a foot of snow and you cleared absolutely nothing. Will have to think twice before we book here again as we travel thru this area often and stay. Very disappointed about it. And the direct tv was out and wouldn’t work at all.
