I asked if it was possible to have one of the rooms overlooking the pool. Kai advised that I had to request that prior... didn't know you had to request those rooms, seeing that it's the rooms we see on the website? Rooms 6 feels like its either the tour guide of bus drivers' room - no real view, on the street area Our bathroom didn't have a hand towel, if we stayed longer, I would have brought it to the host's attention

The other guests at the Inn were noisy well after 10PM on 3 of the nights we spent there. Thus, make it difficult to fall asleep.

We were there for 3 nights and were put into a tiny room whereas guests staying for one night had a lovely garden and pool view. The bathroom towel rail broke the first day of our stay. Upon request we got allocated another room. The breakfast set up can be refined ie place juice in tumbler and not just leave the bottle on the counter.

Elsje (3/5): Would not stay again - Our experience at the guesthouse did not meet expectations in terms of hospitality and service delivery. The reception was not welcoming, and communication from staff both telephonically and in person lacked professionalism. Despite arranging a later check-in and arriving on time, we were left waiting at the door for several minutes and only gained access after phoning the number displayed outside. Language accommodation was also an issue, as the host appeared dismissive toward non-Afrikaans-speaking guests even after clarification was provided regarding our group’s language choice. In addition, certain staff presentation standards were not upheld, and noise from videos played loudly on a mobile device detracted from the environment. Shared facilities, such as the braai area, were not adequately cleaned, and one of the rooms smelled strongly of smoke despite the guest being a non-smoker. Furthermore, there was audible rodent activity in the ceiling during the night, which affected rest quality for multiple guests. The establishment has strong potential given its layout and offering, but improvements in guest interaction, staff conduct, cleanliness, and attention to detail are required to elevate the overall customer experience.

Zimasa (10/5): Peaceful and Restful sleep - We were welcomed warmly by our host and everything was clearly explained. He was very accommodating. We could smell cigarette smoke in the morning. Maybe another resident was smoking.

Andrew (5/5): Not bad, not great - Breakfast was nice but no coffee. Good access and parking. Staff sitting around all day and smoking outside the room, felt unprofessional. Ashtrays all over the place. Pool is cold. No coffee available (ran out two days of three). No bars on windows so sleeping with windows closed. Room could be cleaned better in some places (spider webs etc), few maintenance items needed (broken towel rail etc)

Kristina (5/5): - The location suited our visit Compared to all the other places we've stayed in South Africa over the past 3 weeks, the Outeniqua was the least well kept (ex. Corners in bathroom and bedroom had years of grime, towels were stained, sheets were worn). That being said, we did enjoy the daily breakfast (basic but good) and the pool area was a welcome relaxation place.

Nyiko (5/5): Passable - Breakfast, pool was clean and the location The basin was leaking at the back, the towels had rust stains and there was no privacy. The entrance was very small and I noticed some cars had scratched it. If you have a larger vehicle, this may be an issue. The shower was not exceptionally clean, the bed was not comfortable and the duvet was old. It is not dirty but it is evident that it is worn. Please note that this is a converted house that has been turned into a bed and breakfast and is not soundproof. It is passable for a night but would not be recommended for a longer stay.

Mehlomakhulu (9/5): - It's closer to all the amenities and the main road. We were allocated rooms that were far from our daughters, despite having requested adjoining or nearby rooms. Meanwhile, other families who arrived after us were given their preferred room choices. The room assigned to us was located along the main road and was noisy throughout the day. Housekeeping only attended to our room after we raised the matter with the owner, as there appeared to be little concern for our hygiene. Additionally, the breakfast offerings were repetitive and unchanged each day.

Abhishek (4/5): Disappointing house portrayed as “Hotel and Conference Centre” - While I pay detailed attention to several aspects before booking hotels, especially if I am travelling with my family, I did make an oversight with this particular booking. I don’t have anything positive to state except that the person who was managing the property offered us the beach towels when we were leaving for Victoria Bay beach. Usually, pictures on booking.com do provide a good overview of the properties. However, I was misled by property pictures the very first time. I was travelling to Cape Town with my family and wanted to book some reasonable accommodation in George for two nights. I knew that we would be out for sightseeing most of the time and were just going to come to the hotel for sleeping. Hence, I was not looking for higher-end hotels. At a quick look, this one appeared to satisfy the need. However, all of us felt very disappointed when we arrived at this place. This is a mid-size house converted into a hotel. Our accommodation was in the “out house”, with one big and one small room. We could somehow manage with that. But, unfortunately, everything looked very untidy and dirty. We could not dare to use the towels as they were very filthy with spots on them. There were bugs in the bathroom. They stated that there is a kitchenette with a stovetop, which is incorrect. The so-called kitchenette didn’t have a stovetop. The corner, which they define “kitchenette,” just had a microwave, an electric kettle and a small refrigerator with a couple of spoons and cups. There was nothing like a “garden view” as there is no garden. The property seems to be managed by only one person. He appeared reasonable.
