- Kristina (8/5): Comfortable stay in central location - It was a simple, but clean and comfortable stay. The staff was friendly, and like everyone in Sri Lanka, they would go out of their way to help. The location is very central, easy to walk to all the main points across town. The breakfast was very generous. There is a Barista coffee shop right next to it - perfect if you need that second coffee in the morning like me :)

Les équipements de la salle de bain étaient étonnants, l'évacuation d'eau (un trou dans le coin de douche) et d'air (une petite ouverture en haut du mur) mais rien de trop contraignant, plutôt surprenant !

They can arrange taxi service for you at a very very reasonable price. One morning, I had to leave the hotel at 5:00am, they were so kind to prepare take away breakfast for me early in that morning. Nothing! Just remember to prepare cash to pa for the room

The room was medium size but enough for two people and super clean. The shower was very hot which we appreciated as the weather was cold. The manager was very helpful and helped us book a car to Haputale on a short notice and good price. There was another guest smoking inside, and staff should make clear to enforce no smoking indoors.

- Ali (10/5): - We truly enjoyed our stay in Carnation rest. The room was spacious with a separate living area that make it very comfortable. The staffs were very efficient and friendly. They even offered to wash our clothes which was very nice. Breakfast served in a cute little room and was more than adequate.
- Isabella (10/5): Our happy place! - We stayed just one night at Carnation Rest in Nuwara Eliya and it was a truly wonderful experience. The property, surrounded by beautiful, well-kept plants, feels like a mountain chalet: unique and charming for its atmosphere. Since this is a cooler area of Sri Lanka, the property offers all the comforts to best enjoy the lower temperatures. We were welcomed with excellent tea and biscuits, and the morning breakfast was absolutely delicious. The staff, very kind, also recommended a restaurant that turned out to be an excellent choice. A wonderful place, with a unique and evocative atmosphere, that is definitely worth experiencing.

- Laura (8/5): Prima verblijf voor enkele nachten - Schattig, houten verblijf. Kamer was erg groot, met ook een woonkamer incl. koffie/thee faciliteiten. Fijn om daar even op de bank te kunnen zitten na een hike. Host is erg aardig en behulpzaam. Ontbijt is ook top (westers, en erg veel (toasts, yoghurt, omelet, fruit en cake). De muren zijn erg dun, je kunt letterlijk het gesprek volgen van de andere kamers. De kussens van het bed roken erg vies (beetje schimmelachtig), die moeten vervangen worden.
- Yorick (10/5): Go here or go home - Great acceuil with tea and cake, with the best tea we had in Sri Lanka. Very cozy, nice wood smell everywhere, nice decor overall great vibe. The shower had warm water, albeit with low water pressure. Good location at the doorstep of Nuwara Eliya.

- Annemieke (8/5): Fijne uitvalsbasis voor uitjes in Nuwara Eliya - Prima uitvalsbasis om Nuwara Eliya te verkennen. Personeel is super vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Kregen heerlijk ontbijtpakket mee voor de wandeling naar Horton’s Plains en ook het ‘gewone’ ontbijt de volgende dag was lekker. Toen we aankwamen regende het en het was koud. We hebben dankbaar gebruik gemaakt van het kacheltje. Fijn dat alle bedden in de familiekamer een klamboe hebben. Je kunt vanaf het hotel lopend naar het park en verschillende restaurantjes. Hier kan het hotel niets aan doen, maar we moesten even slikken toen we aankwamen, vanwege het aanzicht. Achter het hotel staat een hoog niet afgemaakt gebouw dat er wat eng uitziet. Maar bij een zonnetje de volgende dag was het al beter dan bij aankomst in de regen. En gelukkig zie je het vanuit je kamer niet. Onze kamers waren wat vochtig, maar het bleek al twee weken geregend te hebben. Wellicht is dit dus niet altijd zo.

Place was under renovation, which made the place dusty and noisy. Some rooms had no hot water. The walls were too thin so could hear in other rooms and noise from the street.

- Susan (4/5): Carnation Rest Nuwara Eliya - 10 mins walk to town. Very close to Pizza Hut & Dominos. Dark and gloomy property which appeared not to have received any investment for many years. There were a lot of flies in our room and in the dining room. Laundry was being dried in the dining room.

La salle de bain est nickel. Le petit déjeuner est copieux et complet.Le personnel est adorable, aux petits soins. Nous avons été accueillis avec du thé et des petits gâteaux. Grand merci !

Good quiet location about 10 minute walk to the main part of town. The supermarket is a 5 minute walk the other direction. The breakfast was very good toast, omelet, mixed fruit plate, yogurt, marmalade, cake, and tea or coffee.

- Justina (10/5): - Wir haben 2 Nächte in diesem kleinen Hotel übernachtet und waren sehr positiv überrascht. In unseren bislang 4 Unterkünften auf Sri Lanka war dies mit Abstand die Beste. Das Haus wird mit Liebe geführt, es ist sehr schön dekoriert und es gibt überall tolle Pflanzen. Die Lage ist ruhig, aber alle Sehenswürdigkeiten sind fußläufig zu erreichen. Unser Zimmer war groß und schön, hatte einen kleinen Schrank und einen großen Spiegel sowie genug Ablageflächen, die in anderen Unterkünften häufig nicht vorhanden sind. Das Bad ist sauber, und gibt warmes Wasser. Die Betten waren super bequem, wir hatten in unserem Family Room zwei Doppelbetten und ein Einzelbett. Es gab extra warme Decken und wir haben - trotz kühler Außentemperatur - nicht gefroren. Das WLAN ist super schnell. Zudem war das Frühstück wirklich toll, es gab sowohl Dhal als auch Omelette, frisches Obst, Jogurt und Toast. Am zweiten Morgen gab es statt Dhal Coconut Pancakes ;-). Die Besitzer sind super nett, der Sohn spricht sehr gutes Englisch und hat uns netterweise noch mit seinem Auto zum Busbahnhof gefahren. Wir können die Unterkunft wirklich besten Gewissen weiterempfehlen!

Whilst the bedrooms are humble the buildings architecture is well done and the breakfast area is particularly wholesome. What really stood however is the staff who were warm, generous, friendly and accommodating. Thank you for making us feel at home :)

The hotel is clean, quiet, and close to the centre. We stayed in 3 different places in Nuwara Eliya, and for the last few years, maybe few dozens. So far, the best place. We stayed in their apartment. Nothing at all

The breakfast room is a glass house and gets hit by the sun just right in the morning. Very cozy. The breakfast was in-line with what we had so far but not extravagantly so. We wanted to have an early start but despite agreeing on the breakfast time the night before (7.30am), they only started serving it at 8am.

My husband I were not well when we arrived and they took such good care us, sent us to the doctor, asked about our health everyday and very sweetly packed us a breakfast to go on our very early morning train. We will stay here any time we come back! Also loved the abundance of hot water and lovely shower pressure. Sometimes those little things make such a difference!

- Alexandra (9/5): Superb - The room is cozy though quite old-fashioned. But we had all we need including pretty big place for rest and tea (cattle with tea and coffee in the room). Hot water in the shower with wall between it and toilet 🙊 Very attentive and helpful personal. We took a driver there for the trip to waterfall and a tea factory. And it was not a problem to keep our backpacks at the reception after checkout time. Two things: 1) transparent curtains 2) Old-fashioned carpets 🙈

- Verified traveler (10/5): - We stayed one night, and would recommend it! The hotel staff is extremely nice and helpful. It’s close to the main roads where you can find good restaurants and shopping within a walk. We didn’t get to do a whole lot but there was a lot of sites to visit.
- serene (10/5): Home away from home - Location was about 1km away from the city centre where food and shops can be found. You can easily take a tuktuk there! The hosts were really friendly and the room was great! Floor was carpeted and their fleece blankets were thick so it kept us really warm during this cold period (about 12-13 degrees). The TV had many channels like sports channels, animal planet, discovery channel and etc. We could even watch World Cup in the comfort of our rooms! The host even woke up earlier and made us breakfast to take away on our 5am journey to Horton Plains. We are thankful for his sandwiches, bananas, fruit juice drink and water that kept us feeling full and ready for the trek. Thank you for being such great hosts!
- Dominic (2/5): Very different to the description in their listing - The room was largish and somewhat comfortable but the listing said “balcony or patio with hill views” but the closest it got was a foot-wide ledge outside the window (i.e., I would have to climb out the window) with views only of surrounding hotels. The listing said “day bed and desk” - there was no desk and only an armchair with an uncomfortably thin seat. It also said “flat-screen TV” but it was an old small TV and even the part of the listing that says “free toiletries” is a lie. Staff didn’t know what I was talking about when I complained and I can’t find any photos online that suggest that any of their rooms match their description. The bathroom was alright except for a very narrow shower stream and a broken toilet seat. The wifi was fast and reliable, so there's that. Breakfast was eggs and fruit - does the job but it’s the most basic hotel breakfast I’ve had in Sri Lanka. Staff were often hard to find. It probably wasn’t the worst hotel I stayed at in Sri Lanka but Carnation Rest is the most out of step with the price and with their advertising.
