Guest Reviews
- William (10/5): -
- Amanda (7/5): Great find, good value for money and great size - The property was a good size, great central location with first come, first served parking on the street outside, which we managed to secure both days.
The property is comfortable, well stocked with what you need for a short break.
It has three bedrooms and will sleep 6 comfortably. It also has two bathrooms, which is great for a larger group.
It's probably in need of a lick of paint and a few updates here and there, but it was perfect for what we needed.
The owners were responsive and helpful, and I would definitely recommend this property and stay here again if I was in the area. It was very warm and we couldn't work out how to change the thermostat!
- scottywoody (7/5): get what you pay for.. - cheap looks quite a bit different to the photos supplied
- Jason (8/5): Nice stay, the down sides were only small points so we were happy enough. - Quiet area and off the Main Street Floor up stairs very noisy, hand held shower head not turning on.
- KAREN (8/5): - Lovely house in a great location, warm and comfortable, Could do with a fresh coat of paint and new carpeting
- Kym (8/5): It felt like a home from home and would definitely look to return! - The home was beautiful and very cosy with a lot of space and in a great location. There were a few little things that just need a bit of tlc.
- Vicki (8/5): Comfortable stay - The beds were very comfortable, location was just off the high street in the centre of town with easy access to the main roads, nice warm cosy house, kitchen well equipped, washing machine and tumble drier a bonus when travelling, large dining table for our family of six, good price. There was some cosmetic upgrades required to the house, upstairs toilet door although locked with hook the door didn't close properly, WiFi was temperamental

- John (8/5): We had a really relaxing time had everything we needed - The property was in a nice quiet location about 10 minutes to sterling town
- Lena (8/5): - It was a nice place to stay, comfortable and everything i needed was available like an iron which is a must for me. The only problem i had was the bed was too soft which made it very uncomfortable for me to sleep in but other thsn that it was a nice little house.
- Adam (10/5): - It was easy to arrange, and communication was easy. We arrived and easily gained access to the property, and it was ideal for our family. It's so much better than a shared hotel room with everyone having their own space. It was clean and tidy, and all the amenities we required were there N/A
- Laura (4/5): - Great location with good local amenities. The housekeeper was lovely. The property is in a fairly poor state of repair and in real need of some TLC. Unable to use upstairs bathroom as the downpipe is leaking and chucks waste water over the front door. Was not happy about my young children using upstairs due to very rotten floorboards.
- Emma (5/5): -
- CE (8/5): - Goede lokatie om de omgeving te ontdekken en het huisje is fijn ingedeeld. Het kan schoner.
- Alan (9/5): Good base for looking around the area - Great location
Nice village
- Shaz (5/5): Great location otherwise disappointed - Location Broken equipment i.e. tumble dryer, oven and lamp stand. No iron. Poor maintenance in general. Water drained from bathroom sink upstairs down outside wall at the front door. Carpets need cleaning and a good spring clean in general as there was animal hair all over. No utility bins in rooms or bathrooms. Main bedroom mattress is in desperate need of replacing.
- Angela (9/5): Nice house in a lovely town - Situated in a lovely town with easy access to main cities. Large, comfortable house furnished with everything that was needed for our stay. I suffer with osteoarthritis in my back, hips and knees and found the bed too soft for the support I need.
- Janice (7/5): Good - Nice house that needs a few things replaced but had everything we needed & we was out most of the time. Bedding, oven etc all clean . Needs a bit of TLC , parking not great but we was aware of that ( host advised us prior to arrival)
- Lynda (8/5): Very good -
- Harvey (7/5): lovely little home - was a lovely little home.
spoke to owners via text, acommidating and friendly.
quiet little village, loved it! some fixtures need updating and changing.
a good lick of paint and itll be good to go.
- Amy (10/5): This was a very pleasant trip - I really liked the house it was comfortable, clean and central to nice walks, doune castle and the woodside restaurant. Aswel as Blair Drummond Sufari park which was a really fun day out and I highly reccomend to anyone thinking of going. I enjoyed my stay it was very pleasant. There wasn't a view as such from the windows but you just need to walk a short distance to see the beautiful landscape. There was a slight issue on the last day but the host was very accommodating and fixed this straight away. I would reccomend this property to friends and family wishing to visit doune. It was very plesant we all had a wonderful time.
- Moira (10/5): Exceptional - Very cosy in the heart of Doune.
- Allie (8/5): Very good -
- Kathryn (10/5): Exceptional - Very homely and comfortable Parking can be an issue
- Crann (8/5): Value for money, comfortable & ideally located. - It was comfortable, and we had everything we needed.
The communication with the owners was brilliant.
The location was lovely, perfect for 3 friends to meet up for a quiet catch-up. It isn't a matter of what we didn't like. It's more that the place needs some TLC, a redec, some finishing touches, windows cleaning, and new bedding. It's just tired.
- Taylor (9/5): The stay was good and we enjoyed it immensely - All of was fine The treatment I got from Booking.com who made mistakes. I had to phone Amsterdam and New York. They gave me the wrong phone number to confirm. The number was of a caravan Park who don’t even deal with Booking . Com the stay was
- Jody (10/5): Exceptional - Location
- Lauren (6/5): Could do with some TLC - Good location with great pub nearby. Well placed for our travel plans. Facilities met our basic needs. Other comments have summed it up fairly comprehensively. The property is a bit tired and in need of some TLC. Bed, bedding and pillows could definitely do with replacing and stairs very creaky.
- Jennifer (7/5): Good - Well equipped and comfortable Could have done with some info on local attractions/take aways etc
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (3/5): 2.0 rating - The couches were comfortable. It was dirty. Lots off things damaged such as the windowsill in the Living room, the Stair banister broken and many other things in need off repair. Stains on carpets , Bed mattress stained and damaged in Double bedroom. Mice or rat droppings found on window ledge. Tv not working in the Twin bedroom. White bath towel with a big hole in it. Alot off damp areas&mould. Garden a disgrace.
- Andrew (3/5): Poor - Couches were comfy Shower room upstairs not good. . Shower curtain to long for shower The whole place needs a good paint .Tv in living room keeps going off and on with signal Tv in bedroom downstairs did not work no Ariel . Kitchen the cupboard doors weren't straight.Carpet at door did not meet strips .Damp on hall roof . Window sill in living room loose .and stair bannister loose Garden gate rotted and shed rotted and garden needs weeded So not very Happy
- Kelly (6/5): Value for Money for a Pleasant Family Stay - The location of the property is great, the village of Doune is lovely and the park located to the back of the property was great for the kids. The house itself was clean and we like the touch of having the Firestick to use with the tv.
Handy for going into Stirling, Blair Drummond Safari Park and also Dunblane. The property is a little rough around the edges, could do with refresh, painting the skirtings and could be carpets replaced as some had frayed edges. Just a little more TLC with fixtures and fittings would go a long way.
- Ally (7/5): Good - Choosen for closeness to Blair Drummond safari park Property not very clean cobwebs everywhere draws in bedrooms had debris in could have done with a bit of spring clean
- Alison (8/5): Unexpected good weather gave us an excellent week in a good location - Location and suitability for 6 people. Didn’t like us too harsh. The addition of a couple of kitchen utensils (chopping board, potato peeler and cheese grater) would have assisted us although we improvised.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (8/5): Very good -
- Hamza (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jody (10/5): Exceptional - Location
- Sally (1/5): Don’t be fooled by the photos. Not recommended, glad to leave. Also it is in Doune town not Blair Drummond. Misrepresent - Nothing The whole place needs a deep clean and hasn’t seen a coat of paint in years. The downstairs shower was broken and leaking. The washing machine was grimy and the tumble dryer full of hairs and fluff. The patio area was not inviting, filled with empty bottles and plastic.
- Jody (10/5): Exceptional - Location
- Frances (8/5): Very good - It was exactly what we were looking for a place in countryside with amenities close by. Slightly disappointed that box with empty bottles were left on garden table.
- Ann (7/5): It is a nice property and I like the fact my dog could stay as well - The cottage was as per the advertisement. The parking was ample as I have only a small car. The oven and trays needed cleaning.
The sink plunger in the downstairs bathroom needs looking at as when you press the plunger down, it releases the water; also in the upstairs bathroom, I think there has been a leak at some point on the floor in front of the shower. I did not feel very safe using this bathroom, as the floor was a bit spongy in this area.
It is a lovely property, central and has a good feel to the place. The neighbours are friendly.
- Ellen (6/5): Pleasant - Everything you needed Could do with a deep clean and upgrading
- Kimberley (10/5): Exceptional - The house was clean and perfect for our needs. The hosts were incredibly accommodating after leaving something in the home. N/A
- John (4/5): The stay was what we made it.. the accommodation was very tired and not the best quality even for the price - The location was nice
It was warm in the evening The lack of maintenance
The bad workmanship of fixings and fittings
Is wasn’t very clean
The bedding was shockingly cheap
Brocken lamp in living room should be in bin
Outside space was in a mess
Furniture needs a bit of updating
I could go on…
- Peter (4/5): Definitely in need of some attention - It was warm The kitchen was very ill equipped, the beds were uncomfortable and the general state of repair was poor.
- Mark (4/5): Although we enjoyed our activities outside of the house, we only used it as a base because it was dirty and uncared for! - N/A First impressions where not good, but upon entering I couldn’t believe it. The windows looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in I don’t know how long, the beds weren’t much better, odd handles on the doors light shades on upside down, non of the doors closed properly, my daughter had to put a shoe in front of it to stop it opening when she was changing, the upstairs toilet wasn’t even screwed down and the seats on both of the toilets didn’t fit right so every time you sat down the whole thing moved. The bath mat was absolutely grimey and dirty. We had to wash any cutlery and crockery first before we used anything as the drawers were full of crumbs and dirt. Walking through the house everywhere there was cobwebs, from the dirty windows and from corners in the house. Brown stains on the ceiling as you walk in and paper hanging off in the corner. As this was just a base for me and my family we made it work as we had been looking forward to this holiday for a long time, we wouldn’t book it again as it was such a disappointment. The house could be such a lovely place with some TLC.
- Gareth (5/5): Overall good. - Shower was good, beds comfortable. House was nice and warm. Location great House needs re decorating.
- Mairi (6/5): Disappointing - Waited 30 minutes trying to get into holiday home using the code sent to me for the key safe the day before arrival. . Had to phone the property owner eventually to be told that the code had been changed a few days before.
- Elizabeth (8/5): great location, amazing restaurants, not fancy but good value. - location and surrounding area. perfect for our visit. couple of large spiders that made our girls unsettled and the upstairs toilet was leaking ( informed the owner)
- Philip (8/5): Very good -
- Jody (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kay (7/5): Good - Nice spacious home had all that we needed and good location. The bins outside were full and over flowing.
- Squawk (10/5): Very comfortable and well equipped - Our 2nd stay at this place within a space of a few days.
Very comfortable which is why we came back.
Nice rooms 2 twin rooms and 1 with double bed. All proper rooms with proper beds.
Comfortable lounge/diner. Good kitchen with good set of utensils.
Washer and dryer. Difficult to park right outside but could find a space not too far away.
- Squawk (9/5): Superb - Really comfortable house. We rebooked a 2nd stay here. Nice beds. Well kitted out kitchen with enough pots pans etc. Dishwaser and washing machine both working well. Conveniant location to get to nearby attractions and access countryside. Not a big problem but no mobile coverage around this property, so could not communicate with the owner. But the instructions e-mailed were enough to get in.
Parking right outside almost impossible, but could find space not too far away.
- Ewan (9/5): Lovely cottage - Great central location in Doune
- Christine (6/5): cottage reasonable comfortable and spacious inside but has some drawbacks - Easy access to the centre of Dourne and shops
Good size of rooms
Helpful provision of appliances, wifi and smart tv confusing info between host and booking agency
evidence of snail/slug in lounge
upstairs bathroom noisy plumbing
broken table in lounge
- Jody (9/5): Superb -
- Ildiko (10/5): Nice area - Location great, specious comfortable house. Not as clean as I would expect.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (10/5): Lovely spot and great value for money! - The house was cosy and in an idyllic setting. There communication with the host was easy and frequent. A lovely and clean house close to shops as well. Strong WiFi and lots of hot water. Great value for money as well, would recommend if staying in the area. Nothing, it was a lovely house.
- Tosh (7/5): Good -
- Moira (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage was really comfortable. It was ideally located in the centre of Doune.
- Susan (8/5): Very good -
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional - Beds very comfortable and a good sized bath.
Was in Doune as taking part in the Rob Roy for Macmillan. Second year in a row we've stayed here.
Perfect location for us.
- Judy (8/5): Very good - Basic, clean and very good value for money. Owners easy to contact.
- Nathan (9/5): Superb -
- Wayne R (8/5): Cozy cottage in the heart of Doune - We found the cottage to be cozy and centrally located. Ok, so the stairs creaked ever time you went up or down but it’s a little old cottage so that just added to the atmosphere. Having 2 bathrooms was a bonus as was the dishwasher in the kitchen. In fact the cottage had everything we needed for our 5 night stay. And with M&S and tescos in nearby Dunblane shopping was easy. Doune itself has so many interesting places nearby that we easily filled in our days. We would stay in the cottage again for sure and will recommend it to our friends.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cute cottage - Perfect place to make as your base, cafe, pubs, shops, castle all within walking distance. Easy drive to Glasgow and Edinburgh, plus lots of villages and lochs.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wee Gem - A wee gem of a place, clean, well equipped, comfortable beds, warm and a supply of essentials to get started.
Thank you Blair Drummond Holiday Home.
- Family2+2 (8/5): Quiet spacious holiday cottage. - This is a quiet and spacious holiday cottage with 2 bath/shower rooms and 3 bedrooms. There is a nice pub and an Italian restaurant within walking distance which both serve excellent food. Lots to do locally or is a short drive from the Trossachs for walking and biking opportunities.
