Guest Reviews
- Blandina Theophil (9/5): Excellent accessible and clean - Easy to reach
Perfect location Nothing
- Andrea (9/5): Villa Leone, an excelent hotel in Nairobi - la ubicación y la comodidad de las habitaciones todo me gustó
- Andrea (10/5): excelent attention, fairly reasanoble price - I have stayed several times the last few years, alway good service at a very reasanoble price.
- Andrea (10/5): A nice place, walking distance from UNON - the hotel is very nice for the price they offer, the service is excelent.
- Fatima Elena (10/5): Totally recommended. - Friendly staff, quality service, nice breakfast, strategic location, beautiful garderns and pool, quiet and perfect to experience African quiet afternoons and Nights. Everything was good
- maría (10/5): -
- Amos (9/5): - This facility is very secure. The breakfasts were great. The staff was friendly. The facility was nice a clean. Wifi was very spotty.
- Tommaso (10/5): Excellent staff, clean rooms, and great locations close to the UN compound -
- Adam (2/5): Avoid this hotel - Garden was nice We did a late booking and when we arrived, the staff made us wait 15 minutes outside the gate, while verifying our booking.
Inside we quickly discovered that booking.com had "upgraded" our room from double with balcony, to a twin without balcony. A mistake that could easily have been corrected, since the double room was still available and listed at booking.com at the same price. However the host refused unless we paid twice the rate.
The room was VERY disappointing as well. Very small and sparsely decorated. WiFi was too weak to be functional and the water wasn't hot. The TV was the size of a tablet and useless unless you were standing right in front of it.
Through decades of staying in hundreds of hotels around the world, Villa Leone ranks among the worst experiences I have ever had. There are hotels in Nairobi for less than $20 a night that provide better service than this.
- David (6/5): -
- Ilga (8/5): -
- Alperen (10/5): - İnternet bağlantısı daha iyi olabilirdi.
- Angela (7/5): - Everyone was super friendly. When I got to my room, there was no toilet paper and then I couldn’t reach anyone at the front desk (I arrived late in the evening).
- Anssi (9/5): -
- Muhammad Farooq Sabir (8/5): A safe location near UN offices - Good Location, caring staff and high security facilities in room, breakfast
- Stephen (8/5): A welcoming place that has what you need. - The staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are large and comfortable. The place is quite secure. Breakfast is standard. There was a problem with the shower when I arrived but it was fixed on the same day.
- Miguel (9/5): Excelente opcion cerca de ONU - Personal en extremo amable, limpio, seguro Internet fallaba a menudo
- Erdenesukh (9/5): - Chris is the best staff member who made all the differences during my stay.
- June (7/5): - Great deal via booking.com that was honoured. Great view from my room facing the garden, on the first floor. The grounds staff are always kind and welcoming. The ladies (staff) are attentive to your needs. Close to the UN venue but not really walkable. Safety. The shower on first floor doesn't have much hot water, I hope that gets fixed. It would be good to keep mosquito coils in the room.
- Hipe (8/5): Great value for money. - Staff are very friendly and always offering assistance. Property is very secure. Very kind gesture of front desk staff offering a pail and dipper (timba and tabo), usually requested by Filipino guests. Dining staff are also very courteous and assisting. There is a variety of food in buffet breakfast everyday. Very accommodating on request regarding late check out. Very spacious room. No water kettle in the room. Probably, if an electric fan can be provided when weather is sometimes hot.
- Yvonne (9/5): -
- Faith (4/5): Disappointed - The breakfast and the staff What I expected based on the photos on booking.com is not what I found on ground. I really was disappointed in the room I was given. We were 3 customers on the premise, of which 2 of them were a couple and so, my assumption was that what I was given was one of their best rooms for a single occupancy. They were also making renovations and so I was always asked to alight the cab from outside the gate and then walk it. I assumed it was because of the renovations but the team at the gate claimed they were under instructions to have guests alight from their cabs from outside the gate for security purposes. All in all, I really didn't like my stay although the staff really tried to make it comfortable.
- Turcu (10/5): Very good! - Everythig Nothing bad to report.
- Amauri (10/5): -
- Marston (10/5): Jamaican visitor - Premises were well kept, clean and comfortable. The host was very helpfull and accomodating. Staff were also very friendly. Food was good.
- Kapetanovic (8/5): -
- MVE BEH (8/5): - La discrétion et le calme La cuisine est est un limité en termes de choix
- Cole (7/5): - Staff are very nice and helpful. No shampoo or cleaning items. I was rationed with half a toilet paper per day which i felt strange.
- Jan (8/5): -
- Kwizera (10/5): I would do it again. It felt like home ❤️ - The location, the security, the serenity! The staff… very friendly and hospitable. The chefs make really tasty meals. Everyone is very kind. The tv 🥹 could not allow much. Not internet connection.
Food is nice but the portions are a bit small
- Andres (8/5): -
- Juan (9/5): Excellent - all facilities
- Ivar (8/5): Very good -
- Daniel (1/5): Angry manager locking gate on gusts! - Great location. Nice pool, old big compound with big dogs roaming. Feels haunted at times. Reception and ground staff were friendly. Food not so good! Management with no sense of hostility! Hotel for some reason didn’t get my payment from booking.com, unwilling to resolve the matter manager (who doesn’t stay on the ground) ordered the gates to be locked and accused me of cheating - I paid again the full amount as I didn’t feel safe and knew I won’t be let out. Booking.com refunded me since by cancelling the booking.
- Ana (9/5): Superb -
- Nick (7/5): Good but, with a bit of money spent on upgrading the facilities, could be really excellent - A nice site and the staff were lovely. Rooms fairly comfortable. A nice outdoor pool and some nicely landscaped gardens Some of the facilities are a little tired and a bit of maintenance is needed to electrics and plumbing. Nothing major but just needs a bit of work.
- Triinu (10/5): Best place in Nairobi - Lovely place in a quiet and safe area. Great pool, good breakfast and warm welcoming staff. Thank you all! You made our stay enjoyable!
- Sonja (4/5): Disappointing - Nothing The staff were extremely unfriendly and made our host wait outside for about 2 hours.
- Mohammed (7/5): Good -
- Ngozika (8/5): Very good -
- Bereket (7/5): Good -
- Steven (8/5): Very good -
- Alma (10/5): Improve noise isolation - People are very nice. Just I think that a small detail that can be improved is noise isolation because it is possible to hear everything from one room to the other one.
- Nanda (10/5): Comfortable and extremely friendly environment - Exceptional service, efficient staff
- Pankaj (8/5): Very good - Everything was excellent Maybe providing a water kettle would be great, which I missed most.
- Juliesette (4/5): Disappointing - breakfast was good flooding , dusty lot of mosquito
fan not working , no heater
only one iron available
lack of toiletries
- June (9/5): My favourite place to stay in Nairobi - Chris, the receptionist, Isaac(?) from the breakfast buffet, and the guards were wonderful. They, and the location were the highlight of my stay. I came back a second time, because of an unexpected delay (Kenya airlines...) despite the hotel being far from the airport - that is how much I felt cared for during my time there. I've read some of the negative comments about facilities but I think, overall this is very good value for money, especially if you want peace of mind, and a safe place (guarded facilities). There were even monkeys from the neighbouring forests!
- Ali (8/5): Very good -
- Ali (8/5): Very good -
- Katherine (8/5): A large villa compound with friendly staff in a good location in Gigiri - Villa Leone is a good option for those who need to be in Gigiri. The WiFi was poor but it was not the hotel's fault, there were wifi issues related to the extreme rain/weather and country-wide issues as well. I also personally didn't prefer the sense of being in someone's house (the owners live on site and their large living quarters, personal vehicles, etc dominate the front entrance area, and the house is also usually barred shut and dark) but that's just a personal preference.
- Francisco (10/5): Epic and memorable - Timeliness of the response from the reception staff.
The rooms were well arranged and maintained Traffic arriving to the venue
- Karol Lisette (10/5): - The best place to stay if you go to the UN Compound. I love it and everybody were so gentle. Thanks!
- Montemayor (9/5): Superb -
- Alexandra (8/5): Good value and great location. Staff is wonderful! - I liked the location and the staff. Chris was absolutely amazing - the proprietor should do his very best to keep him on. The cleaning team went above and beyond every day. The cook staff could have had a more variety in the breakfast menu but they were always corteous and helpful. I hated the internet range - there were issues because of heavy rains that took days to fix - despite the best efforts of Chris and company. It was uncomfortable to have to insist on fixing and no compensation was offered.
- Shirin (6/5): Pleasant -
- Anna (6/5): Pleasant - The staff was lovely and the grounds were beautiful, dinner was very tasty. The room was clean and I made excellent use of the flipflops! The bed was hard, the pillow too big, breakfast unsatisfactory, shower was a choice between hot or pressure and wifi was weak. But mostly is was not quiet - any conversation going on in the grounds carried right into the room and made it difficult to sleep.
- Amilcar (10/5): The Villa Leone Bootique Hotel is a place that I would recommend everyone to visit and to be. - The breakfast was very well served, the buffet was ready on time and the food was healthy, the please was adequate and welcoming. Everything was fine and within hotel standards
- Janet (10/5): - This is a typical guesthouse. It has a warm and friendly staff and a nice property. They will go out of their way for you! But typical for a guesthouse, you must leave your key when you go out. Bring your own shampoo, etc, and hair dryer.
- Agnes (8/5): I'll definitely come back! - Great place to attend meetings at UNEP, within walking distance, but also Karura Forest. The room is cosy. The staff is great: kind, helpful and smiling! A few times I did not have hot water for the shower depending on the time (I noticed in particular late at night). The breakfast is quite basic.
- Mohamed (7/5): Good -
- Thin (7/5): Good -
- Isabella (1/5): Bad -
- Veby (7/5): Homey but need to be upgraded. - The breakfast menu, highly recommended to serve local menu everyday along the western. Homey atmosphere of accommodation. The staff are friendly. The facility of the bed sheet should be upgraded. I found some hairs on the bed sheet which I need to clean by myself. The key obliged to keep in the receptionist when you need to leave the room for a day. The furnitures are old fashioned.
- Zoe (7/5): Not great value for money. - The hotel is very secure and the location is convenient for the UNEP and US Embassy campuses. The staff are mostly very friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable. Overall it didn't feel like fair value for money. The breakfast was quite disappointing (very limited selection, not very appealing) and if you are in a hurry in the morning then you might not get much at all. The internet was very patchy. The bathroom was tiny, no hot water, poor quality shower, and not terribly clean. I was left without toilet paper for a day. You only get 1 small bottle of water in your room each day. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, no hair dryer or iron, and very limited plug sockets (in inconvenient places). My room backed onto the dining room so I was woken up every morning when the staff arrived, put the TV on and started cooking. Dinner was US$15 which is a lot for what you get (it's tasty, just that is not a fair price.) They only sell wine by the bottle (fair enough) but the price is US$20 per bottle, which is unreasonable. I had friends staying in other hotels and they all sounded like better value for money to me.
- Daniel (7/5): Nice staff, nice hotel; the bathroom could be improved. - The staff were very nice, the location was convenient and the hotel in general had nice gardens. The lighting in the bathroom was insufficient, and the water from the shower kept getting out of it no matter what I tried. Plus, the staff forgot to leave me clean towels a couple times when they took the dirty ones.
- Eeva (9/5): Superb - Friendly and helpful staff, effortless communication, also about rides to and from the hotel
- William (1/5): Noisy, hot, no fan, no mosquito nets, many mosquitos, awful shower, no sleep. Dreadful. Nice driver - Very helpful driver named Godfrey. Pleasant receptionists. Nothing else Just about everything but, most importantly, the rooms must be fit for purpose, namely, sleeping. They were not (we even tried moving room). Very hot, no fan, no mosquito nets, awful shower (with temperature adjustment out of reach for all except tall people), very noisy (road, dogs). Not what I was hoping for or expecting.
- Leida (8/5): Kind of near UN. Very nice staff - It was nice, tasteful and green Breakfast a bit poor
- Liesel (5/5): Passable - Most staff Facilities were poor standard and only option of instant coffee.
- Georg (3/5): I left the hotel - It was quite The equippment in the room was not adequate. No hangers, shower took long to get warm with only little water flowing. The breakfast was poor with a very limited variety of food, instant coffee.
- Kristin (10/5): I would highly recommend anyone to stay here. - The staff was absolutely amazing! Very clean room and comfortable bed.
- Gillian (5/5): Passable -
- Katerina (7/5): In Nairobi close to the UNEP headquarters - I chose this villa for the location in the vicinity of the UN headquarters. All staff I met is very friendly and helpful, especially Anne and Gideon, also with arranging taxis or helping with airport transfer or (any) other issues.
Room was spacious and not too hot, balcony close to the room was nice. The premises are kept very clean and room-maids, gardeners do their job very well. I chose this villa for the location in the vicinity of the UN headquarters. Sadly, the roadworks did not allow for daily walks in the morning. Maybe next time.
I was not so thrilled about the breakfast choice and I did not like the shower in my room - it was difficult to regulate the temperature and also directions of the water flow. Would have strongly preferred to have a hand-shower rather than the "rain shower". And I hoped to see the pool, but there was none...
- Section (8/5): Very good -
- Bipul (9/5): Superb -
- Msbank (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter Paul (10/5): - Nice quiet secluded property just about within walking distance of the UNON campus and Village Market mall. Lovely staff, from the breakfast cooks and reception team to the gate security guard, everyone is super friendly and helpful. Clean comfortable rooms, proper mattresses and good shower.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Merante (8/5): Very good -
- Mele (8/5): Very good -
- Mele (8/5): Very good -
- Kinley (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff and nice quiet place ideally located to the UN office No toiletries apart from small soap and toilet paper.
- Khalvandi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ma. (7/5): I had a pleasant stay - Breakfast is good and the staff are nice and helpful. Always have bottled water in the room. The hot shower is not functioning well. The facility should regularly check those things. The door to my room sometimes locked me from the inside, or there was a time I couldn't open it from the outside.
- Amr (7/5): There are better options within the same price range - The staff are very friendly Rooms are very basic, no AC or fridge
- Sofiene (9/5): Superb -
- Penny (5/5): Passable - Staff was very helpful and friendly The shower was cold and water had very low pressure. There was no tea/coffee making kettle as advertised
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Very nice staff, flexiblenwith our late arrival. Room was nice. Hot shower difficult to sort, and breakfast was ok but a set menu - a waste of food.
- Alfonso (7/5): Good -
- Bikul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephanie (8/5): - It's an excellent place
- Joana (1/5): Very poor for the room price - Location is close to the UN Very old rooms without any natural light. In the bathroom is not possible to shower because there's no pressure in the water and it's cold since it's an electric shower.
- Edwin (9/5): Very comfortable stay! - The location is in a secure part of town. The host was very gracious and the staff very welcoming. The food was very well prepared. Excellent facilities too!
- Eleanor (8/5): The comforts of home - The welcoming friendly and helpful staff made this a home away from home experience I would like to see the introduction of full suite type accommodation at the property to accommodate longer stays.
- Joni (8/5): - Staff was friendly and very helpful. Food was decent. Although amenities like ironing boards, irons and blow dryers were available I was not able to have kept these items in my room for the duration of my stay.
- Gillian (8/5): - Excellent boutique hotel. St
- Marion (8/5): - The staff of Villa Leone is wonderful and very helpful
