Guest Reviews
- Janet (9/5): -
- Janell (7/5): Decent Stay - I love the location of the hotel! I enjoyed the decor as well. I thought that the bathroom and the rug in the hotel could've been a little cleaner. The worst part was the level of noise we heard from the guests above us. There was constant stomping late night and early morning the next day.
- Samantha (9/5): -
- Antoine (10/5): -
- Pintip (7/5): - The price was higher than what the experience justified.
- Matt (10/5): -
- Anya (7/5): - Good location, excellent facilities, helpful staff. Parking was difficult and expensive but that seems to be the case everywhere in Philly.
- Alejandra (10/5): excellent - The stairs. There was no mentioned of the stairs on the description and my mom find them a bit difficult.
- Maria (9/5): Loved the stay in a nicely renovated space. Walkable location in old city Philly for restaurants and landmarks. - Walkable location to restaurants and landmarks. Nice city view from the Louisa room. Well thought out amenities available to use: robes, coffee/ tea( not the wasteful keurig kind). Washer/ dryer, if staying longer.
Kitchen stocked for cooking/ dining in. Unfortunate windows did not open. At times Stubborn lock system. If you have trouble climbing stairs or have heavy bags
This is not the place for you, steep staircase.
- richard (6/5): Loved room itself. Didn’t love the access code not working properly. - Room was great. Very nicely decorated and very comfortable beds. Huge space. Extremely steep steps, no elevator. No one on site. Door code didn’t work and we got dumped on with rain talking to offsite staff to get in with code to a hard key. Shower set up was ridiculously complicated and took 10 minutes of screwing around just to get desired water temp.
- John (8/5): -
- Karen (10/5): - The location was excellent. Very cook vibe. Easy to walk to restaurants, shops, markets and historic sites. The room was very quiet considering me were in the city. I think I heard someone above us once. The guidebook they provided was very helpful. The Lokal staff were very responsive to our questions.
- Marc (8/5): Great stay overall. - Great location, close to the reserved restaurant, many accessible and walkable areas. The walk up situation - it isn’t prominently advertised. Would be more honest to say how many floors/stairs are in the walk up when the room is assigned. Unusual to have people sign a contract to approve their stay. Would consider making some lights adjustable/dimming-capable. Pretty high cost for a non-concierge hotel, even by Philadelphia standards. Would rate it as a high-end Airbnb rather than a hotel.
- Jose (10/5): - Amazing space! Felt like I was staying in a small studio apartment in a great quiet neighborhood! I am coming back
- ARNAUD (9/5): - Charming place, nice design, super nice neighbourhood A slight smell of moisture
- jennifer (8/5): -
Hotel is quiet and homey feeling
It is well stocked in kitchen with high end appliances.
The entertainment system is good though we didn't not use as much.
There is no elevator so travel light as you will have to carry your luggage.
Location is great!
For running, close to front street/water front with a Cool breeze
Plenty of options with restaurants especially coffee and cafes with local vibes
Neighborhood more local than though close enough to tourist spots
Receptive hotel owner with Easy communication. Personally contacted me when there was an issue and willingness to resolve the issue immediately
Overall great stay! If issue resolved, we would stay again
- Joost (10/5): Leuke uitvalsbasis ik Philly. Leuke buurt en heerlijk plekje - Leuk appartement louisa! Echt heel leuk verblijf Niets
- Amanda (10/5): - We booked this spot last-minute during an unexpected overnight layover in Philly and were so glad we did. The location in Old City was perfect—super walkable and felt very safe, even walking to grab a late-night Philly cheesesteak after 11pm on a Saturday. It was a little chilly, but still such a fun way to experience the neighborhood.
The property itself was beautiful—exactly as pictured, but honestly even better in person. It was spotless, stylish, and incredibly comfortable. We saved it to stay again if we’re ever back in the area!
The only small downside was the stairs—being on the top floor meant a bit of a climb, especially with luggage, but the space, view, and location made it totally worth it.
- India (10/5): - Excellent stay. The location was perfect for a quick weekend getaway with my husband. The room we stayed in was just perfect. Self check in was seamless and easy. I was grateful to Lokal for allowing us an early check in due to my having a migraine when I arrived. I felt very accommodated and will absolutely be back. The room is an entire vibe. I can’t wait to come back!
- Jewel (8/5): Wonderful. - The pictures do not do this property justice. It’s beautiful. Very clean. Stocked with every thing one would need including: washer and dryer, mini fridge, dishes, and all of the essentials. Any concerns were taken care of immediately. Its location is old city so the parking is atrocious.
- Josephine (10/5): Wonderful Stay - Location was great. Street Parking and a garage was nearby. Had an issue, but property resolved the issue promptly. Great customer service.
- Amit (6/5): - Short trip to Philly. Room and layout was fine with nice view. Overall, comfortable but, bathrooms were not very clean. The floors were dirty and need to be properly cleaned. The grout in many place was BLACK with mold. Faint smell as if an exterminator had been there. Also, the coffee mugs could use replacing, there was a lot of old coffee residue.
- Lanre (9/5): Superb - Overall, the space is excellent and clean. I would definitely stay here for a longer time if I needed to. As with everything, there are downsides. As many have noted, there is no elevator, so if you are elderly and have trouble with stairs, this is not the place for you. Also if you were to come here, you would need to think of it as a glorified AirBnB and not really a hotel since hotel staff really doesn't exist. Neither of those things bothered me or my wife, but keep in mind when you are booking.
- Verified traveler (10/5): One Night at Lokal - Was only here a night but will be back! TV casting is my preferred method so I love that it came with that. iPad for controls & everything you need info on. Bathroom is beautiful! Bar cart could use a couple more options but 10/10. Be mindful that this is stairs only & The Ben is on the 4th floor!
- Dina (8/5): Very good - Location was excellent. Breakfast was not provided.
- Chris (10/5): - Loved this hotel!!
- Sally (10/5): Very pleasant stay - Everything was as expected from pictures and descriptions. I texted staff regarding a question about an appliance but did not get a response.
Beds were a bit uncomfortable.
- Andrada (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lucinda (10/5): Beautiful loft mini apartment nicely appointed in great neighborhood. We took two units for our family of 5 with a coupl - Great location in the old city; Cafe Ole next store was fab! Stylish and had everything we needed. There is no elevator - it’s a walk up. Just be aware!
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Scott (10/5): Nicely furnished suite in easy walking distance to transit, tourist attractions and business center. - Excellent location. Easy to follow instructions for check in and check out.
- Dave (10/5): - Beautiful place but the area is kinda dead and not much to do in that neighborhood
- Heather (9/5): Lovely Lokal - Location. The interior design. Easy of entry. Close to the restaurant's and theater. historical locations. one tiny thing. the room had very little space to store clothes away. living out of the suitcase isn't my preference. it's a big enough space that the design could have included a dresser.
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Sxd976 (9/5): Superb -
- Brigid (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful spacious apartment Nothing!
- Cynthia (9/5): Superb -
- Alison (7/5): Great location, responsive staff, comfy place for a couple of nights. - Location was great, lots of places within walking distance for food, coffee etc Would LOVE arrangements in place to
work out nearby ! Guest could agree to fee and have passes available upon arrival.
Bottled water would be nice!
Also felt the building and room were a bit tired — a coat of paint and other freshening touches would go a long way.
Also didn’t realize there was no elevator — my brother was unable to manage the stairs when he came by.
- Aidan (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (9/5): wonderful, would stay there again - loved the apartment style feel with the big windows and prime location a small couch or love seat by the TV
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jody (10/5): - Excellent place to stay, we will be back!
- Nicky (9/5): Uber cool hotel and we would definitely be back again. - The hotel was fantastic and we would stay there again for sure. Loved the view to the street and the room was very well thought out. We loved everything but one thing was the bed squeaked and it was impossible to move without it making a noise. Otherwise the bed was super comfy with beautiful bed linen and LOVED the blankets and throws.
- Agata (9/5): Superb -
- Kurt (10/5): Best spot in Philly - It was fantastic awesome area safe n quiet
- Victor (7/5): Good - They need to disclose that the guest must want to be up early in the morning because the room doesn’t have proper curtains
- Jonathan (7/5): Good - old style steep steep stairs; lugging suitcases up was really unpleasant
- Renata (9/5): Superb -
- Valerie (8/5): Clean place in a nice location, expensive parking and beds were not very comfortable. Expensive. - Clean, more spacious than a typical hotel Uncomfortable mattresses/beds. Difficult to figure out TV and other appliances (microwave and stove top). Door entry battery died.
- Macie (10/5): Comfortable, clean, and enjoyable stay. - Absolutely GORGEOUS!!! This hotel was outstanding we walked to get breakfast and coffee every morning! It’s in a very clean safe neighborhood! We would stay here again 100% Our room offered everything! A kitchen, coffee maker, hair dryer, refrigerator it had it all! We even had a pretty view of the bridge! I just loved it. It was not an issue for us personally but I would not recommend this property to anyone who is handicapped i.e. wheelchair, walker, cane etc. the stairs to the rooms are very steep! But this was my only qualm!
- jeffrey (10/5): - This is a very special and unique property, in a location that has everything.
It is challenging to park, but otherwise we would definitely recommend and come again!!
- Julie (10/5): - Great experience
- Jennifer (8/5): - The room was beautiful and well appointed. I agree with some others that the curtains need to be darker bc the sun blasts into the room in the morning on this side of the building (we were in the Will room). Refrigerator was making some kind of high-pitched whining when we got in after our concert (after midnight) so we had to wear ear plugs to sleep…and the wooden bed frame is very creaky when your partner rolls over. It was very comfortable though and the amenities were terrific. Getting room access was super easy once we located the entrance door. Loading zone was taken when we arrived, but we were able to pull in at the next block to unload.
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional - The Lokal hotel is beautifully maintained, incredibly well located, and the team running is so accommodating.
- margaret (10/5): - Exceeded all expectations! I’m sad I’m only here for one night. This place is terrific, check in was great, couldn’t recommend it more.
- Bianca (8/5): Very good -
- Ansell (9/5): Very, very nice - Beautiful and cozy room. Man, the thin white curtains made the light in the room so beautiful in the morning, however it was SO bright and wish we could have slept in a little!
- Cox (8/5): Exactly what we needed, perfect stay. - Loved the location, it was out of the town and near to the historic sights. The street the hotel is located on has lots of lovely independent shops and nice coffee places. Really couldn't have asked for a better location. The stairs are STEEP.
- Luis (10/5): - I only stayed one night but it was perfect, close to many attractions and cafes
- Jie (10/5): - Easy self-checkin process. Excellent area of town and thoughtful amenities. Would definitely book again for a family stay.
- Beverly (10/5): - Very cool spot! City vibes , neat furnishing and very clean. Great location. Went to Phillies game..got uber..there in 15 min.Definitely stay again.Highly recommend!!
- Michael (10/5): - Great concept, high design, convenient location to historic sites. Parking was easier than expected and overall just a really cool place to stay. Wish you continued success
- Richard (10/5): - Loved the comfortable simplicity
- Patricia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Margaret (10/5): Cool Unique Place in Excellent Location - The location was perfect to visit the Old City. Unique and beautiful decor. Washer and dryer in the unit. There are at least one flight of stairs to get to the room. May be a problem for those less mobile.
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Goulet (10/5): Exceptional -
- Venable (10/5): Convenient and cool spot right in Old City. Fantastic! - We loved the decor, and the space. Great concept. Great location. We liked pretty much everything.
- Alexandra (10/5): - This property was SO well designed! I loved feeling so "fancy" while staying here. There were lots of clear directions for all the amenities. I loved how walkable it was - close to lots of food and entertainment!
- Andrew (10/5): Beaufiful Apartments in a Great Location - Check in process was incredibly easy. The rooms are wonderful, the toiletries locally made and great. Very nice stay.
- Tara (9/5): Superb - Great location very cute rooms Lots and of stairs
- Bofeng (10/5): - We stayed at Lokal for our wedding weekend. It was absolutely perfect - the room was pristine and beautiful. There was spotify included in the in room iPad as well as in unit w/d. Check in was easy and we even got a complimentary bottle of prosecco! We highly recommend Lokal for any special occasion!
- Peacod1 (10/5): Great location. Great Room. Wonderful Concept! - We LOVE this concept! The room was really cool (redone old building in Old Town Philadelphia). We were able to walk to all the nearby tourist sights. We love the neighborhood (I spent more on shopping than on the room). The room is clean and has a TON of amenities (we like the liquor cart - even though we didn't use it).
Although the room is AirBnb-ish, the ability to order food and groceries through the iPad was cool.
We highly recommend this stay to anyone coming to Philadelphia not wanting a chain and wanting to be in the local neighborhoods. Very steep steps to get to room. If you have a lot of luggage - good luck.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Our family was overall very pleased with our stay in Philadelphia - comfort and accessibility stairs 😁
- Diane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shana (9/5): Cozy spot in Old City - The space is beautifully designed and you can tell a lot of thought was put into making it intuitive and comfortable for guests. We loved the location and wish we'd had more time (and better weather) to explore the area nearby.
- Michael (10/5): we visited as a family for a short visit to Philadelphia the hotel us located very close to the historic sites and was e - awesome space with lots of extra comforts in a beautiful part of the old city
- Gjergj (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carlos (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Morgan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jeremy (9/5): Cool - Very stylish and nice area. Great place to stay if you are there for a few days
- Carly (10/5): - Such a special special special place. Gorgeous interior design and so my heart and thoughtfulness in the rooms. Super cool overall hospitality concept. Every detail was thorough and perfectly placed. Luxe without feeling stuffy. Lived in and homey while still being organized and subtle. Neighborhood was great and the in room guide was like your best friend giving the “lokal” scoop on where to go/eat/see. Couldn’t have been happier…unless an elevator could be added for carrying my kiddos belongings up the narrow and steep stairs. All part of the period-appropriate charm!
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - The room is gorgeous and had everything we needed. The little touches, like he old books, delicious tea and fabulous tea kettle made it even more special. It was also the perfect location for walking to all of the sights in Philadelphia. We walked....and walked.....and walked. A small ask would be for some sort of mirror in the bedroom. The only mirrors were in the bathroom.
- Michele (10/5): - I love the whole "self check-in" option. I received all the info needed to access the building and room ahead of time and getting in was no problem. The "room" is bright, airy, and spacious; a cute studio apartment basically. We only stayed a night but it has everything you'd need for a longer stay, including a W/D. Located in a great part of town, with parking and lots of places to eat within walking distance. Would definitely stay again!
- Dave (8/5): Very good -
- Sabrina (9/5): Superb -
- Uzw (10/5): Tranquil, comfortable and wonderful stay. - This is the 3rd time i've stayed here - love Lokal and the staff are SUPER helpful and responsive. The 4th floor walk up is not for everyone, but the space is absolutely beautiful (Ben) and worth the walk - very tranquil at the backside of the building. There were some very minor repairs needed and the bigger bluetooth speaker wasn't connecting (and there are no bedside lamps) - minor things - but just to be aware.
- Neil (10/5): - For the self-reliant quality discriminating traveler seeking a fine home away from their home to live in style while traveling.
- Christy (10/5): - Great place to stay! Clean and close to alot of the sites and restaurants. Would stay here again!
- Tessa (10/5): - Very cool setting, comfortable room, and awesome location
- Robert (10/5): - Thoughtfully equipped and lovely small hotel convenient to Philadelphia's historic district. Highly recommend.
- Laura (10/5): Urban chic, convenient hotel - We stayed in the Louisa room of this uber-cool, beautiful, and conveniently located hotel. Looking forward to booking again with Lokal!
- MacKenzie (10/5): - Super cute place! Check in was really easy!
We enjoyed it very much!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was so wonderful
- Verified traveler (10/5): A charming apartment in Old City - In the middle of shops, restaurants and history is this cozy hotel with rooms to spread out in. Stay here with confidence.
- David (10/5): - Fabulous location and great local restaurant recommendations from the owner. The room was beautiful
- Kristy (10/5): Hidden Gem - One of a kind experience where you don’t have to check in with any concierge, but touch pad to get in. Beautiful decor, super informational with booklets around the room to show what’s good in the area and ontop of their customer service. Highly suggested to anyone!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Perfect location with absolutely everything you could ever need. We would definitely come back to stay here again. The staff were so lovely and accommodated an early check in for us as well. I can’t fault the Lokal Hotel at all.
- Katie (10/5): - We loved our stay here and wish it could have been longer! The room was so perfect. It was beautiful and had everything you could need to make it feel like home: from blankets, to a selection of teas, to shower products that I’d actually want to use. We went to the Sassafras market to pick up food to make for dinner, and the kitchen was fully equipped for what we purchased. I was so impressed by this place and we will definitely be back!
