Guest Reviews
- peter (2/5): Garbage - Absolute rubbish the hotel has been closed down a month
- Nikki (10/5): Great place to stay - The staff were very friendly and attentive.
The room was comfy also accommodated our dog, had a nice view of the garden. Breakfast was good. Even had a meal in the restaurant of an evening good choice and food was to our liking.
Would definitely go back when in the area.
- Susan (8/5): - Friendly welcome and room very clean. Had evening meal which was delicious.
Dog friendly and able to bring dog to meals in a separate area, perfect!
- Lynn (10/5): Highly recommended - We decided to book a night at the ladt minute and came to the half moon. Owners were so welcoming and dog friendly, we decided to stay an extra night.

- Eleanor (10/5): Excellent value and service - I spent 2 nights here whilst working in Alford for the weekend - I had my 8 month old son and my Mum with me.
From the beginning, the staff were so friendly and helpful.
Nothing was too much trouble.
Breakfast was great, and so was the evening food in the restaurant.
Excellent shower, and a comfortable bed too. What more could you want?!
Will definitely stay again, and recommend to others.
- Norbert (10/5): Excellent staff - The staff is really friendly and helpful. They always had a time for us, doesn't matter how busy they was at the moment.
- Julie (10/5): Excellent hotel - Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel has free parking and lovely grounds/ garden. The breakfast was also great. Excellent hotel!
- David (8/5): Half Moon, Alford - Friendly family run pub / restaurant/ hotel booked at last minute. Room clean but a bit dated which probably sums up the hotel as a whole Beds comfortable. Breakfast enjoyable, served to table. Didn't eat any other meals as visiting family in Mablethorpe and this was mainly a place to sleep. Would happily revisit in the future.
- David (10/5): Hotel at short notice - I can recommend the half moon 100% friendly and helpful staff.
- Jeremy (10/5): - The hole experience was a pleasure love hotel great staff owners always on hand and very helpful.
- Angela (10/5): - We stayed here for one night with our two young children and couldn't refommend enough. The owners and all the staff were so friendly and the room was lovely. Breakfast was also to a very high standard.
If we are ever in the area again we will be sure to stay!
- Esther (8/5): - Fantastic hosts. Very friendly
- Peter (10/5): - It was far beyond our expectations and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay after the dreaded extended covid lockdown.
- Christopher (6/5): Nice hotel terrible food - Hotel itself was nice, clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly a little too much, and interrupted us a lot and hovered. The food wasn’t very good, smash mash gravy like water and hard undercooked chips for the price we were not very happy about this. Free breakfast is a nice touch small portion and no yolks in scrambled egg is just strange though. Overall the garden was nice and hotel itself is fine just avoid the food if you can
- Colin (8/5): Should have been a bit better for the price - There on Business for one night the accommodation was adequate. Food a little expensive for standard pub type fare that came out. General could could try harder
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice stay - Pleasant staff. Quiet location. Garden.
- Ben (10/5): Great place to stay! - Brilliant staff, room was really nice. Great that it's dog friendly. Food was fantastic. Can't really find anything to complain about! Would definitely stop again!
- Rupert (10/5): - Used as a base for work locally
- Rea (8/5): Not worth what we paid - Friendly staff. Hotel room was clean although there was a bin that had not been emptied from the previous occupants. Bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was awful. The stay was definitely not worth the amount that we paid.
- Rupert (8/5): Half Moon Hotel and Restaurant - USed as a base whilst working locally, very happy
- Rupert (10/5): Half Moon Hotel and Restaurant - Used as a base for work locally. Very convenient and comfortable
- Julianne (10/5): - Really lovely Traditional place. Gentleman was very friendly on check in. Very cute little dog escorted us to our room with us!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I stayed at the Hotel prior to attending the funeral and cremation of an old friend. My stay was very comfortable and the staff were more than helpful.
- David (8/5): Nice find - Very nice meal in the evening and an amazing breakfast the next morning.
For the price absolutely first class
- GRAHAM (8/5): Good - Pretty good. Nice breakfast
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I tried to cancel booking by pdidhone and was told that the hotel could not cancel iret themselves and I had to cancel with Expedia.I sent an email but did not receive a reply.
- Anthony (6/5): A bed for the night - ok place, food fine, bed for the night, feel bar area catered more for the local than the guest
Room comfortable but tired

- stephen (8/5): On a main road - On the high street with parking and beer garden around the rear. Restaurant is very busy in a cluttered way lots of old china plates like an old fashioned tea room. Breakfast well presented and nicely cooked and sufficient. If you’re looking for a quiet night I would suggest you ask for a room around the back off the main road easpecially during the summer as you’ll probably leave the windows open. Although a village, the main road going through it is busy at all hours so if you’re a light sleeper you’ll be woken at all times
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Swopped for a ground floor room at hotel suggestion. Lovely room close to car park.
Comfy bed and good breakfast.
Would recommend to friends.
- John (6/5): - Service slow at bar and restaurant. Th room we had was over the beer cellar. It was very noisy and found out next day it was a faulty valve.
Room was clean and tidy.
- Phil (8/5): Ok short stay - Short overnight stay. Hotel and accommodation is OK. Service at breakfast a bit slow. Reasonable value. Will stay again.
- Paul (4/5): Cheap and convenient but don't expect too much. - To be fair, I didn't pay much so I wasn't expecting much (£55). I got a friendly welcome and they didn't mind I was 20 minutes after the last check in time. There was plenty of parking. The room was very tired and dated but had a single and a double bed in it. Bed was ok. Bathroom was ok.
I was asked would I mind waiting till 9am for breakfast, which on this occasion was ok, but normally would have been a nuisance as I'm on business and normally away by 8. Breakfast was included, which was just as well because I wouldn't have wanted to pay for it. It looked like it had been cooked several times, I couldn't even eat the sausage, it was so hard, beans had that dark look when they've been reheated many times. Tea was nice.
Overall, I'd stay again for the convenience of it but I know not to expect too much.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This is a very friendly hotel catering for those who want a casual break with the ability to come and go as you please
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Large family room with comfortable bed.
Although, A very stormy night with wind whistling through the secondary glazing.
- s (10/5): Very comfortable. - Excellent. Attention to detail was noticeable. Easy parking, lovely breakfast and a VERY comfortable bedroom with plenty of space and top quality linen. Would stay again tomorrow!!!!!
- robert (6/5): you get what you pay for i guess - Friendly welcome. Hotel is a very tired and needs investment. Single room was very small, but clean & just above kitchen so fans kept me awake. bed was comfy. kettle didnt work properly kept cutting out. brekky was ok.
i would stay again but not in this room
- Kathryn (8/5): Clean and pleasant. - Lovelly gentleman on reception, carried our bags to our rooms. Staff were friendly and attentive. In house meal was good and breakfasts were great - vegetarian options not a problem.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good option for a short weekend break. Very friendly staff. Good location in the centre of Alford.
- grahame (4/5): - Very tired needs updating needs more of a clean in the room then redecorate very dated
- Peter (8/5): Nice friendly hotel - A warm welcome on arrival, room basic but ideal and value for my needs. Would stay again if in the area.
- David (10/5): Very pleasant stay - Stayed one night before our annual cricket club golf day in nearby Woodthorpe. The hotel is right in the centre of the village. The rooms were clean, the evening meal was good, the breakfast was outstanding
- helena (10/5): Lovely friendly good food. - Close to where we wanted to go.nice town to walk round
- John (8/5): Little business trip - Really friendly nice an relaxed good food and just what was needed to chill
