StAlban123 (10/5): Perfect location to explore - Perfect location to explore lake Myvatn and the Diamond Circle. Our room was spacious, very comfortable with ample storage. The bathroom was large and kept nice and warm. The hotel itself is is simple and styled in a modern fashion. Breakfast however, was only adequate- I believe, this had something to do with them closing 3 days after we left. Food didn’t look particularly appealing and there wasn’t a huge choice but it didn’t leave us hungry. The best breakfast we had in Iceland was at Hotel Akrureyri in Akrureyi- by a long way!! However, we wouldn’t hesitate to come back to see the hotel in high season rather then when they are winding down- I’m sure the choice would be much improved
InTheMomentManhattan (10/5): Convenient Location - The Fosshotel Myvatn is centrally located for exploring the area of Lake Myvatn. All of the major sites are within an hour away by car. This is a modern Scandinavian design hotel. there is a minimalist, eco friendly decor. The breakfast buffet is very extensive. Dinner is expensive, but so are all dinners in Iceland. Service is efficient if not particularly friendly. Lots of parking available in the hotel lot. Once again, a good choice for the area.
tracyrX6709LY (10/5): James Bond looking hotel in volcanic rock region of Iceland - Great hotel on an incline overlooking the Myvatn Lake. Our room had a standing room only balcony (still very good to have). Restaurant... dinners good and breakfasts excellent. Bartender and all staff very helpful and knowledgeable, especially regarding area and roads. Bar area large and comfortable. Rooms are spacious. Restaurant has a VERY large wall of windows to see the sunsets and the lake area.

The staff were freindly and helpful providing good service. The food was good with a reasonable choice. There is plenty to do and see in the area making this a great base for a couple of nights.
sherf (10/5): wonderful stay at Myvatn - We had a wonderful room on the first floor with a spectacular view of Myvatn Lake. The restaurant was also very good both for breakfast and dinner. The staff were all pleasant.

gretchbd (6/5): Wish it had been better - The room was comfortable and the views were pretty, but overall this was not our favorite stop along the Ring Road. There was a completely naked male guest in the co-ed sauna. Breakfast is not included, and so we paid for it and were disappointed with how overrun it was with the bus tourists that were visiting. When we went to check out, they said we had a charge for food and drinks the night before. This was not from us, so we had to dispute it with the reception desk. They did not charge us, but it still left us feeling meh about our stay.
raniparker (10/5): Great hotel - This hotel is beautifully located with priceless views. Rooms very comfortable. Strangely there are not the usual toiletries. There is only one container that is supposed to be body, hair and conditioner. For the price of $300+ we would at least expect some toileteries. Otherwise, great. Don't forget to use the lovely sauna with more priceless views. Service was excellent. Just be sure to take your own toiletries.
Robin (8/5): - Spectacular hotel and views. However felt a bit clinical especially in the evenings with no real atmosphere. Fires in the bar and restaurant never turned on and no games or reading material.

No charging point near the bed . Bathroom is clean and spacious. The furniture is very modern. The staff is cooperative and friendly.

Adrienne Hélène (2/5): BEDBUGS!!!!!! - We were so excited to stay here. The second morning there, we found two LIVE bed bugs in our room - which had already bitten us. Upon check out we brought it to the attention of the staff, they told me “we have traps for those, are you sure” which 1. Indicated to me that they KNEW they have a problem with this and 2. Did not want to do anything about it. For the price - this is fully unacceptable. Sadly our stay was ended with extreme anxiety about our belongings being infested and bites - along with no accommodation for the issue and full disregard of the need to mediate it. Definitely DO NOT STAY in room 301.
Jamie (10/5): One night in Myvatn - Fosshotel Myvatn was just as promised! Modern, clean, spacious and relaxing. We only spent one evening there but loved it. The beds were comfy, and rooms have everything you could need. We chose to have breakfast at the hotel which was an additional cost to our room, but honestly there are not many options nearby so we decided it was easiest. Delicious dinner at Gamli Baerinn just down the road! And totally enjoyed our soak at Myvatn Nature Baths.

LizTNH (8/5): Nice for an overnight stay - My husband and three boys ages 18-23 stayed here for an overnight as we travelled the ring road. We had to adjoining rooms facing the parking lot which was fine because we were there primarily just to sleep. It was nice to have the availability of a room with three single beds for the boys. Rooms were clean. Showers had nice hot water and good pressure. Beds were ok. Not as comfortable as other places we’ve stayed this trip. Two pillows each but they were a bit flat. Convenient outlets on each side of the bed. We had a four that opened out to the smallest balcony I’ve ever seen. Just big enough to stand on. I think this was just part of the hotel’s design. Hotel blends in with the countryside which is nice and overlooks Lake Myvatyn. Room was a bit warm. We opened the small window and door but soon realized all the midges were getting in! I’ve never understood why or how countries can keep windows open with bugs. They also provide body wash and conditioner along with some smaller toiletries like a shower cap and make-up remover. But again room was clean and safe which was most important.

DayTrip14076213250 (10/5): Splurge and enjoy! - The hotel is very well situated in lake Myvatn, offering a gorgeous view over the landscape. The bedroom is very comfortable and the breakfast has a wide variety for all tastes. The sauna is also very pleasant, which we enjoyed every time after a day driving around. Even though it's more expensive than what's around the area, it's worth the splurge if you want to treat yourself with an amazing stay.
StefanieK876 (4/5): Walls and doors are paper thin, I can hear everybody like they talking IN OUR room. - We are just staying at the hotel and while the interior is very pleasing I am extremely (negatively) surprised, how thin the hotel walls are - you basically hear everything and everybody around you (in the other rooms or in the hallway), almost as they would be inside your room. I can definitely understand what the people next to us talk about (in normal speaking voice, not even shouting or so). People walking BY our room sound like the walk THROUGH our room, and on one side is either a dog whining or a toddler complaining, all sounding like it would be IN OUR room. For the price you pay for these rooms this is an absolute disgrace. DO NOT STAY HERE! We are here for one more night - boy, do I wish I would be in a different hotel. What a rip off.

The hotel fits seemlessly into the natural environment-all alone up on a hill - barely noticeable. Accommodations were very updated and seemed new. We had a very enjoyable dinner , good nights sleep and hardy buffet breakfast. Lovely stay 💗 Would highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again. 😊 thank you

Jeffery (2/5): - Very crowded at check in. Got to room and it was over 90 degrees in room. Tiny window with no air flow and no air conditioning. Small fan in room circulated the hot air. Asked for a different room, a second fan, or an extension cord to put fan in window - was told “no”. Unusually warm in Iceland (72 degrees F) was explanation. Also safe and one light didn’t work, but that was the least of our problems. This was most expensive hotel of our ten day Iceland adventure ($460USD) and worst night sleep, simply laying on top of bed uncovered without sheets. Miserable. Got up early and left
Getaway03515561326 (10/5): A great experience in a wonderful hotel - It has been a wonderful experience. My partner and I have been there for two days in which we have enjoyed exceptional weather combined with the pleasant spaces that this Hotel offers us. The breeze has softened the temperature during the day and at night the silence and the comfort of the beds have provided us with the rest we needed. Cleanliness also plays a big role and the kindness of the restaurant staff with the friendliness of Matyas attentive to every detail make you feel at home. The dinner has been at the level of a great restaurant with interesting and very well cooked gastronomic proposals. Even the chef Ugne and Noel have explained one of the dishes accompanied by a spectacular risotto and have solved a doubt I had about an ingredient in a jam! In short, two days well spent in the hotel and its fabulous surroundings.
lissettevillarreal (10/5): The Best Customer Service! - The staff were welcoming and friendly. Every experience at the restaurant, bar or the front desk was 5 stars or better. We had such a wonderful say. Everyone had a smile and were more than willing to help us not matter our need or question. The facilities were all clean and well maintained. The view is fantastic of Myvatn Lake and the sheep super cute to watch grazing.

Lisamarie1138 (8/5): Beautiful views - The hotel stands out on a green hill, surrounded by grazing sheet. The lake views are spectacular. Our family of 4 was split into two small but cozy rooms (one of them even had an extremely small one-person balcony) which also had beautiful views. We found the staff to be helpful and friendly and made good use of the restaurant on site for dinner and breakfast both days we stayed there. The breakfast had a pretty good selection of foods. There is also a sauna and an outdoor sitting area which was very nice. The sauna is kept very hot and sitting out in the cool air was a good way to cool down. The rooms also provided soft robes for going to and from. There is no hot tub on the property, though.

Lovely rooms, very comfortable, well soundproofed and all the amenities you need. Friendly and welcoming staff. Restaurant good, even happy accommodating a few off menu changes. Similar menu to everywhere else in Iceland, but well executed. Breakfast selection ok, but hot food items, such as bacon and eggs were cold, which seems to be a common problem with hotels in Iceland,
davekF5826OW (10/5): A great stay (nearby restaurant tip included) - This hotel feels like an oasis and was a very pleasant stay...really enjoyed the comforts after a long day...sheep nearby also made for a friendly welcome. Appreciate the fans to battle the "heat" of summer. Have to recommend that instead of eating in the hotel restaurant, head five minutes up the road to Vogafjos Cowshed Cafe...I am not kidding when I tell you it is the best burger you are ever going eat (they also have a wonderful lamb shank). Not exaggerating...perfection!

925kimf (8/5): Great stay, would benefit greatly from window screens - For a visit to the Lake Myvatn area, this hotel was a fantastic option. The rooms were clean and modern, the restaurant was very good and the views were unbeatable. There is no air conditioning, which normally would not be an issue as the temperatures outside were 50’s most of our stay. However there are A LOT of flying bugs in this particular area of Iceland so we could not leave our windows open to take advantage of the cooler air and they do not have screens in the windows. There was a fan provided, but still very warm in the room during to how efficient they are at retaining their heat during the colder months.

It’s definitely of substandard compared to the Fosshotel at glacier lagoon. Will not recommend.

workingjapan (10/5): James Bond Hotel feeling - My son and I stayed at the hotel as we traveled through the region. The breakfast was good but we did not try dinner. I would recomend this hotel and it was the best we stayed at in Iceland. It ticked all the boxes for location, look and feel. First place were we felt the Hotel was higher class.

The rooms are modern, cozy, and offer incredible views of Lake Mývatn. The staff was warm and helpful, and the on-site restaurant served some of the best meals I had on the trip. It's the perfect base for exploring the surrounding natural wonders, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone staying in the area!

1556898 (10/5): Book a suite - We made a great choice booking this hotel . Whether you have a room at the front or back it’s still a lovely environment with nice views all around . We opted for a suite 221 , it was stunning, very impressive views and extremely comfortable. Our friends had a lake view room that was also very nice . It’s a beautiful hotel with a real cosy vibe , very friendly atmosphere. We easily got talking to fellow guests and would all be bumping into each other at remote locations across Northern Iceland and having a chat . We enjoyed breakfast , very impressive the choices. Our rooms were spotlessly clean . The hotel was kind suppling towels for the local baths which we made sure we brought back . My husband left all our passports and cash in the safe and I got a phone call the day we had left informing me , they were very kind. I arranged for the items to be collected and delivered to us . This is a really nice hotel and a beautiful place to stay , I really recommend it .
austriantraveller87 (10/5): Great hotel on the ring road - This was one of the 3 hotels/guesthouses we stayed in on our trip, just to have a proper bed and shower after few nights in campervan and what a delight it was! Location is perfect for exploring Mývatn lake area, breakfast buffet was big with many options and the views are priceless. Also thanks to Jurai for his suggestion to do a detour from road 1 and drive by the coast of beautiful Trolls peninsula

Trail52293985467 (10/5): Definitely stay here! - The design and layout of this hotel was unexpected in a good way! It was very clean and updated. The room was heated through the floors which was so nice to walk on! The lobby area had a nice place for us to gather and hang out before bed. The staff here was very friendly and patient with our large group. The food was very good! We had breakfast and dinner here. We wanted to stay another night but had already booked and planned to leave after one night. The views were awesome from every window. The sauna area was very nice and offered a pretty awesome view too.
918charlottew (10/5): Excellent spot to watch the lights - Perfect location for sightseeing in the north. Very close to the lava fields, waterfall, hot mud. Very little light pollution so fantastic spot to see the northern lights. Would definitely recommend. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and had fridge and kettle. Very nice shower. Nothing to fault!

Rooms modern with comfortable bed and scandi decor. Restaurant served very nice food, even though the choices were a little limited. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Wwe had a wonderful holiday.

2TropicsTravelers (10/5): Comfortable stay - We stayed in several Fosshotel properties during our visit to Iceland, and they all were very nice, including this one. We had a larger, corner room, which was nicely furnished, bathroom was well laid out, with plentiful amenities. The staff were warm, welcoming and helpful. We had no waiting for meals, the food selection was varied and the quality was excellent. Breakfast buffet is included and contains a large variety of foods for every taste and diet.
122sarahv (10/5): Excellent Hotel. - This was the best hotel that we stayed in on our two weeks holiday in Iceland. We had a lovely room with a good view. It was very clean. Breakfast was really good and the staff were very helpful. The only thing that i could comment on was it was very hot in our room..underfloor heating, but that was not a problem as we opened the balcony door. I would really recommend this hotel.
Teresa (10/5): Welcoming services on a long road trip - This is our second Foss Hotel we stayed at on this trip. We booked another Foss because the first one was so great. Thus one was even better. Again, a warm welcome and a welcome warmth after a long day on the road. The room was beautiful and had everything we needed.
heatheraW2372EW (8/5): Spacious new rooms! - Booked the standard double room/twin room. The room was incredibly spacious and cozy! Booked through mobile and they had a deal. It is a beautiful hotel in the area and I would highly recommend this hotel. Staff was very friendly and they have a lovely dinner selection of really great food. I do not know if I would recommend the breakfast add on, because they make it a bit awkward every time you go down you have to prove you bought that (I am used to hotels that it’s always included for everyone who stays). My other complaint is I really prefer taking food to my room and eating in bed, warm and cozy when I’m on vacation! They do not allow you to take food “to go” per se and will charge you a set fee (more) if they catch you taking food. They say it’s to avoid wasting food, but I feel like if I paid for the breakfast included I should be able to eat as much as I want where I want. Overall I would recommend staying here, it’s a beautiful spot and locally resides close to the lake and town and not far from hot spring places and even fairly close to akureyri. It is a little more per night than most places, but that might be a cost that could be saved if opting out of the breakfast add on.

The breakfast is well worth the extra fee - a good spread of items (and you’d be hard pressed to find somewhere else to eat nearby). A good launching point for all the nearby sights. We’d stay here again!

They will wake you if there is a light show outside.lots of plugs and they even have some usb ports in the room.

Chun Tung (10/5): - best hotel for vacation in Myvatn, good location with brilliant view. On the first light I was lucky enough to see some northern light at the car park. Room is spacious and easy to access to the sauna and the restaurant at the hotel, and the restaurant offer good quality food so I don't have to spend time to look for a restaurant in the district. Also the staff are friendly and I had a wonderful experience during my stay.
