- amber (10/5): A gem! So many positives to this place. - The staff were so kind. Spoke easy English. Very helpful in planning our visit to art islands and making the most of Uno itself. Location is ideal for train and ferry. Great shower pressure and nice yukatas provided were a bonus. Rooms are small so expect to have to crawl over any bed partners at night.

Dat was heel handig om op tijd te kunnen vertrekken met de ferry naar Naoshima want dan wist men al tegen wanneer men wat moest klaarmaken in de keuken. Ideale uitvalsbasis voor een bezoek aan de kunst-eilanden.

- Barbara (10/5): Fantastische staf en goede locatie - Wauw, wat een te gekke staf, van alle plekken die we hebben bezocht zijn zij het meest speciaal, persoonlijk, super Engels, attent, alert. Kamer voor vier personen is heerlijk, met eigen balkon. De separate maar privé douche toilet is super nieuw en schoon. Je kan wasje draaien. Het ontbijt is heerlijk en de koffie ook. De lounge is erg smaakvol. Locatie perfect naast de ferry voor Naoshima. Personeel geeft je ook tips indien gewenst en hebben goede aanbevelingen voor het diner. Wij sliepen er voor en na Naoshima zodat we een nacht op het eiland konden blijven en twee hele dagen. Dat is zeker de moeite waard! Niets.

There are washers and dryers on the upper floor which were easy to use. Plus it was just a few minute walk to the main ferries. The private bathroom was outside of our bedroom, and we had to use different keys to open the door. But once we got used to it, it was fine.

- juvanas (10/5): PERFECT LOCATION to travel to the ART ISLANDS! - Such a lovely place to stay -- conveniently located if you wish to explore the nearby islands (we went to Naoshima, Teshima, and Shodoshima, which were all accessible by ferry). Uno Port Inn is RIGHT BY THE PORT, so it made planning around the ferry schedule easy and stress-free. We were greeted at Uno Port Inn by Minh, who checked us in and provided easy-to-read food guides of the neighborhood, ferry schedules, and maps of the art islands. The room was small, but it provided all we needed to tuck in for the nights between ferry travel. The private shower room was kept clean throughout our stay. Also, also, ALSO!!! Uno Port Inn is within walking distance (maybe a 5-10 minute walk) of Setouchi Onsen Tamanoyu, which has beautiful outdoor baths that are tattoo-friendly for foreigners! Such a lovely way to end a long day of travel.

The hosts were knowledgable and very helpful with great information on restaurant ideas and how to make the most of the islands. The accommodation is simple and compact. The remote bathrooms accessed down a shared corridor may not suit everyone but the warm welcome and quirky bar area and staff made up for that I think I would have made sure to get an en-suite if we stayed again. Some more storage would have been useful.

With super convenient logistics (train station and ferry terminal right there) and reasonable price, it served our purpose. Rooms were a bit too small. Especially with our big bags, we could barely fit in. But the room size is mentioned on the website - so I guess that’s on us. Walls are thin but fortunately other guests were respectful. AC/heater working fine but it was funny - temp felt fine around the bed, other spot near the entrance too cold (winter time).

- Wanderer921 (8/5): Tiny rooms but conveniently near port - This is a little boutique hotel. Everything is small but clean, the bedrooms are tiny, bathrooms are tiny. It's surprising that they managed to squeeze in all the usual hotel conveniences in such little space. The bathrooms are outside the bedrooms, along another corridor, although you are assigned a private bathroom with its own key. Heavy drapery is used everywhere for noise absorption, and they even provided earplugs in the room, so perhaps noise was a problem in the past, but we did not hear any noise and had very good sleep here. Breakfast is prepared by the kitchen according to your selection, which can be ordered the night before, and is excellent. The staff is also very helpful with travel recommendations and are fluent in English. The only drawbacks I see with this hotel are: tiny rooms, external bathrooms, and lack of the usual Japanese bidet/washlet toilets. (We have stayed at dozens of Japanese lodging establishments, and this hotel was the only one that lacked those wonderful Japanese toilets.)

Het was er te warm, waardoor we de airco aan moesten hebben. Buiten was het koud, dus liever de temperatuur binnen omlaag gezet.

- caroleso (10/5): Welcoming Inn for Art Islands visit - I had wanted to go to the Art Islands for 15 years! and finally made it with my adult son who is living in Tokyo. Not wanting the expense of staying at the hotel on the art island, I found this inn. And wow, what a find! I am very glad we chose to stay here. The staff are friendly and all is organized from the moment you arrive. One of the staff, I believe it was Minh for us, sits down with a map of the area and answers any questions you might have about transportation, museums or recommended restaurants. I have many food allergies, and breakfast food was prepared with attention to those allergies, substitutions made as necessary. The coffee is outrageously delicious. We stayed in a twin tatami mat room upstairs. As is typical of Japanese hotels, a little crowded, but there was a connected balcony. The futon mats were very comfortable. The bathrooms were all down one hall, but they were private, well stocked, and very clean. And there are washers and dryers for a nominal fee! The ferry is a couple minutes walk, and the longish ferry ride to and from the museum islands was one of my favorite parts of the day. We stayed 3 nights, and I am so glad we stayed here instead of on the island, so we could enjoy the ride back after a long day of walking and sightseeing. Friendly, organized hosts, delicious coffee and breakfast, comfortable mattress, clean bathrooms. What's not to love? I hope to return on one of my next trips to Japan. Thank you, Max and staff, for running a welcoming inn.

- jesses53 (10/5): Charming Boutique in Perfect Location - This place is fantastic! The rooms are quiet and clean, and the place has a very relaxing vibe. It's small but very cozy and private, definitely not a corporate chain hotel. We really enjoyed the breakfasts that came with our stay. Location near the ferry and train station is so convenient. Friendly employees speak English well and were very accommodating since we brought a large group. The bathrooms are not attached to the rooms but each room has its own (well cleaned, locked) bathroom just a few steps away, so it still felt private. I look forward to returning.
