Guest Reviews
- Deb (10/5): - Easy access to Camino trail Beds were not the best but fine
- FLAVIO (10/5): -
- Claudia Sofia (10/5): - We were a group of 6 pilgrims.
The house isn’t directly on the path, but the detour is tiny — only 4 minutes — and it gave us the comfort we needed to rest well. It’s in a calm, quiet area with comfy beds.
The restaurant next door is run by the same owners. Really good food with great quality and variety.

- Luddington (10/5): Sweetest home! A slice of heaven! - Adorable home! Spotless and so very welcoming! The restaurant next door was a perfect addition to this lovely stay. I truly hope to stay here again!
- Grant (10/5): Great location with a nice restaurant next door -
- Françoise (9/5): -
- Meagen Mispah (3/5): Find somewhere else. - It was like stepping back in time. We shared coffee and cake in the living room and that was nice. It was pretty clean and the shower had good pressure. A few 100m off camino path so great overnight stop. Overpriced compared to other places we stayed at that offered far superior service. I had to follow up with owner and never heard back. I had to phone the restaurant and they were oblivious to our arrival, but later very helpful once they clarified. There was a strange musty smell which lingered throughout the house. A noisy highway passes right infront of the house, so it’s noisy constantly. The humidifiers helped with the noise and small, but not enough. We wanted a crib, it was there but we had to put it up on our own. The house was cold so we had to call the restaurant to turn the heat up. I wouldn’t recommend staying here and am a little disappointed we payed so much!!
- Marylea (7/5): Clean and comfortable on a busy highway - It was clean and comfortable and out of the way. It’s attached to a nice restaurant that was not open. On a busy highway. The address listed was not correct and communications was not great. My husband speaks fluent Spanish but no one would answer the phone when we were having trouble finding it. It’s attached to a restaurant. I don’t know why they just don’t list that as the address. Made things unnecessarily complicated.
- miao (10/5): - Everything’s great. Super clean and full of convenient details. Beautiful beddings too.
- LILIAN (7/5): Boa - Perto do Caminho e restaurante ao lado. Barulho da estrada
- Brian (10/5): Wonderful - A little off the Camino, but not far to make it difficult to walk to. Beautiful insides enjoyed a wonderful evening in the living room sharing a bottle or two of wine. Near two restaurants that were very accommodating.

- Pedro Adrián (8/5): -
- Beatriz Adelantado (7/5): -
- Juan (8/5): - Casa amplia y comoda Ruido carretera
- Vjola (8/5): -
- Sonia (9/5): Excelente lugar para detenerse a pernoctar!!! -
- Adventure Camino (7/5): Convenient location close to Santiago = Pilgrims can make midday mass. - Convenient location. The Restuarant next door provides an excellent lunch on Sundays. The location is on a very busy noisy road.
- Lesley-ann (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patrick (6/5): Pricy stay at the Camino - Right on the Camino, whole house Location om busy and noisy road . No facilities to eat or recreate after 1600 hours
- Yu (8/5): Very good -
- Sara (8/5): Very good - Restaurant right next to the house.
- Sofia (7/5): Older House Next to Good Brunch/Lunch Restaurant - This is a good option for large groups with the three bedrooms. It worked pretty well for us since we didn’t want to walk all the way to SDC. The restaurant next door was really nice and they served us even though we arrived 15 minutes before their 3pm closing time. The only way we knew how to check-in was by reading previous reviews. (You have to check-in at the restaurant next door). It’s an older property with lots of random furniture and clutter. The wifi signal was very weak and almost nonexistent upstairs.
- Jim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ngiet (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marie (6/5): It was okay. Not much character. - Beds and bedrooms good size. Many bathrooms.
Attached restaurant where we could get a good meal for dinner, but no breakfast. Off the Camino path. Out in the middle of nowhere.
Weird design of house.
- Paul (5/5): Passable - Clean and comfy The hosts were very unresponsive to my messages. No WiFi. The staff in the restaurant were quite unfriendly.
- Simon (9/5): Superb -
- Kaye (7/5): Good -
- Pam (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful home, located just off the Camino. Easy to collect the keys and the restaurant next door has the BEST vegan hamburgers! Liked it all
- Jim (10/5): Exceptional - The old stone house is just 300m off the Camino and is very comfortable...a nice place to stay after a day of walking. With the restaurant right next door, dinner was convenient and tasty. The key pick up is at the restaurant, easy to get.
- Adventure (10/5): A very comfortable stay at San Mateo. - Location
- Emett (6/5): Nice Place BUT No Working WIFI! - cleanliness Wifi not working and they didn't even bother to fix it! The staff seemed not to want to be bothered about the online registration and wifi issue.
- Peggy (8/5): Great, inexpensive stay on the Camino. The location allows a shorter walk into Santiago instead of the 16 miles from Pad - The restaurant on the property was excellent and it is a good location to the Camino. The staff were very nice and helpful. We had 5 travelers. It really sleeps 4 comfortably, (or 6 with 2 in each of the two double beds), the sofa bed was not a great option.
- Coralie (7/5): Functional propert - Spacious house with all amenities you needed. Property is extremely hard to find
- Carmen (6/5): Pleasant - That we have the whole house for ourselves with plenty of space No internet connection (big issue). And we were not able to use the clothes washer (but that's a minor thing)
- Alexey (9/5): Superb - Spacy apartment, nice restaurant nearby, flexible checkin Very low water pressure in the system.
Noisy road nearby
- Brown (7/5): Cozy visit to grandmas home - Handy location for Camino walkers next to a little bar to the left and a restaurant to the right (note that it closes early!) Great to have coffee and tea and milk available in house and three bathrooms. Fully equipped kitchen- but far from grocery store. Zero communication from host. No response about whether we could check in earlier (especially since it was a 5pm check-in). No communication about how to check in… lucky I just searched around the premises and found a key. No response about WiFi password until late at night- and even then the WiFi was non existent. Traffic is VERY loud in the front rooms- so you cannot leave window open.
- Noelle (9/5): Superb - Beautiful house situated very close to the Camino and conveniently in between two restaurants. The owner was gracious enough to let us check in early and they take pride in their property.
- Rachel (6/5): Useful stop on the camino. - Useful stop on the camino between Padron and Santiago. Handy restaurant next door. Staff rather unwelcoming. The house is on a very busy, noisy road and has no outside space.
- Pamela (10/5): Great stay. Good for groups. - Great location just off the camino path. Next to the restaurant so good for food and drink. Nothing.
- Eva (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charles (2/5): Very poor - flies in all rooms
- Kate (8/5): Large well equipped house - Large well equipped house, comfortable and very close to the Camino Portuguese route It is on a busy road which is noisy in the day but it is quiet at night. Difficult to find off google maps much better to follow location for the Resturant using satnav
- Cheryl (8/5): It was an enjoyable stay. The front lock wouldn’t work and the management resolved the problem right away. It was a very - We had the entire house to ourselves. It was next door to a nice restaurant which was part of the property. It was a bit of a walk off the Camino Portuguese. Our group had trouble finding the location. It was located on a main road so there was traffic but not disturbing.
- Fook (8/5): Very good -
- Sharon (7/5): Good - No breakfast…beds were comfortable…Laundy was done for us!!!!!😀 Backpacks put indoors out of the rain…Musty smell on entry and living room
- Kustini (8/5): Nice and comfortably staying - I stayed at the hotel during the "Camino ways to Santiago". I like the ambience, very homey and I didnt find the things in previous review, complaining about "all night barking dog". Overall...I like to stay at this place Wifi. Maybe you can improve in this area.
- Susan (9/5): Superb - Our host could not have been kinder. He washed and dried a large pile of laundry for us and there was milk in the fridge and tea and coffee available. The restruarant was closed (Monday) but we could have a drink at a nearby pub. It was a bit noisy being right on a very busy road but was fine if the windows were closed.
- Pam (9/5): Superb - Lovely house, very comfortable with everything you need.
- Jennifer (8/5): Very good -
- Allan (7/5): Cozy house with old style furniture. - Large house fully equipped with old style furniture - very cozy, very clean and a lot of space. Staff at the restaurant next to (same as owner of the house) were extremely helpful and friendly. Placed in first row at regional road with heavy traffic. You need a car / take a longer walk to find a supermarket.
- Barbosa (7/5): Good -
- Pauline (4/5): great house in a very noisy location . did not sleep due to noise - plenty of room for 7 people to stay at . clean , tidy and a beautiful place EXTREMELY NOISEY pub next door with loud music all night , highway traffic and 3 barking dogs. the dogs barked all day and night
wifi didn’t really work
- Roberto (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marlon (6/5): Pleasant -
- Phyllis (3/5): go elsewhere - no WiFi although advertised as having WiFi, musty smell, windows open and filled with flies and mosquitoes, highway traffic sound and barking whining dogs all night, lumpy beds. do not choose this place.
- Aaron (4/5): A bit disappointed. - Location is ideal for pilgrims doing the Camino as it is a stone throw away from the route We where not notified beforehand that the restaurant next to the location will be closed on the day we where to be there. As it is 10min (almost 1km) away from the nearest shop and restaurants are not available for evening dinner and we where pilgrims this was the least thing we needed. Had to walk one 1km each way to get supplies and bread for dinner.
Also we barely had enough toilet paper in the bathrooms for four people. Also although it was listed there will be no WiFi in such a place being isolated I think WiFi nowadays should be standard
- James (8/5): Menu of the day for lunch was an incredible bargain - Charming location in a small town on the way to Santiago de Compostela. Highlight was the menu of the day for lunch (not available weekends)- 12 euros, 3 courses AND coffee and wine. The BBQ pork was superb! The house is owned by the San Martino restaurant, and access is through the restaurant. They offered free laundering during our stay including drying which was very nice. The house is only accessible when the restaurant is manned and open. They would not turn on the heater during the day and the house is a bit cold. Unit is hard to find- they should say it is next to restaurant San Martino!
- Rasa (7/5): Good - Convenient location, close to Santiago. When I arrived with my friends, I was not welcomed. I showed the Booking confirmation number, but the hostess ignored me. I was stressed, as well as my friends and the taxi driver who brought us, who did not leave us until he was sure that we would get a place to stay. When I provided proof that the accommodation was paid for, we were accepted.
Maybe because the season has not yet fully started, the house had an unpleasant smell, it was not ventilated. Even the clothes in the backpacks got an unpleasant smell.
At 7 in the morning there was firewood being cut or something like that under the windows, so it was very noisy.
- Miguel (9/5): Superb -
- Dave (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (10/5): great location, helpful staff, clean and comfortable house - space, en suite bathroom, close to restaurant close to busy road
- Imran (7/5): Good - Nice house with 3 beds rooms, kitchen and living room. Internet was next to useless.
- Nancy (8/5): Very good -
- Zayas (9/5): Superb -
- Anna (6/5): Pleasant - Restaurant next door No WiFi, very close to d Road, the owner's dog barking till late in the night. Hot water did not work when both showers were being used simultaneously.
- Hildi (10/5): Final stretch of the Camino. Great place to stay so that it is not a lo g wk kn that final day of the Vamino and can get - clean and comfortable property.
- Eugen (6/5): Pleasant - it was not clean and it was very loud
