Guest Reviews
- Pamela (6/5): - Very noisy up to 1.30 in the morning. Check in was supposed to be 12.00 am not te case as Rome weren’t ready.
- Michael (2/5): - When we arrived at the property we were informed someone had cancelled the reservation We had to find alternative accommodation at 12.30am I will not use this chain again
- Cherilyn (6/5): Its ok - Receptionist friendly, nice welcome. Easy to park & great location near restaurants and the port. However, the bed had hairs inside which would suggest it hadnt been changed. Also was super dusty. Apart from that, surface level looked tidy. Good price
- Joseph (10/5): Comfortable and Great Service - Comfortable hotel with great service and excellent value. Close to a unique "Memphis" themed restaurant and an older part of Calais. They also have a nice breakfast, which felt more personal than most other places.
- Bryan (2/5): - After hours it's an unstaffed reception. The self service check in machine didn't work for me, my partner or a kind stranger who tried to use his payment. You caused us time, money and because of the travel day a great deal of stress. When trying to call for help I was hung up on. Typical for the area I hear. Good riddance!
- Paul (6/5): Mediocre - Bed was in a corner so difficult to walk around and shower was badly designed as the water did not drain away correctly
This was supposed to be an accessable room but was not really as bed was difficult to move around
- Luke (8/5): - Easy stay close to ferry, clean good size family room. Would definitely recommend
- Michele (10/5): - Receptionist was so helpful
- Allen (4/5): - Automated check in not for us
- mark (10/5): - very good!!
- John. (8/5): Convenient for le shuttle. - Very near busy roundabout.
Limited choice of restaurants on foot.
Basic room. Shower room in need of deep clean/paint.
Functional.
- Nicolle Le (8/5): - We stayed for one night during a shopping trip from the UK. The room was basic but just what we needed. We checked in using the self check in machine, the security guard ended up helping us as we were struggling with it.
I only took off one star as the bathroom walls were a bit grubby near the toilet and sink, other than that it was great. Would stay here again for a similar trip.
- Ian (10/5): A pleasant stay - Convenient to Port, Tunnel and Motorway.Dog friendly. On site parking.
- Ian (10/5): - Convenient 24 hr check in. Lift and easy parking. Comfortable beds.Quiet. Near boulangerie and McDonalds.
- Abigail (6/5): - Basic. Bed was a mattress on a plywood board. Check in was via a machine, which wouldn’t work as Expedia didn’t provide a booking code. No reception staff so I had to press a buzzer to speak to a central office, who were rude and they eventually let me in. No kettle in the room, just machines you had to pay for in the lobby.
- Seamus (2/5): - We left a day early worst night sleep
- Megan (8/5): - It’s a typical French roadside hotel. Basic. Clean enough, comfortable for a quick stop.
- Mark (8/5): - Value for money. Clean, comfortable beds and good shower. Longer shower curtain to help bathroom flooding can be a benefit.
- Philip (10/5): - Very convenient location just off a main route and opposite an American themed diner. Small room but perfectly adequate for a brief overnight stay.
- Shaun (10/5): Perfect stay - Very clean room, the beds very comfortable. Very easy late check in. Good breakfast 👍 good location , perfect place to stay for night before morning ferry.
- Anton (8/5): Traveler - Our stay was good little confusing when it to entering the building. We did not get a confirmation code in our email at first had to consult with building management very helpful otherwise pleasant stay.
- David (8/5): - Cheap and located conveniently
- Monica (10/5): - All good
- Nigel (6/5): - It was very busy.....car park was full. Lots of doors banging and kids running along the corridors from early o'clock.
But self-service access late at night worked easily and the hotel is very close to the motorway
- Amanda (8/5): - Clean and safe when inside
Parking good
Lots of refugees around the building area from teatime gathered and this was worrying when leaving the building to go for food over the road
- David (6/5): - We were in Calais for 3 nights it was a little far out but we found the buses on last day free to ride around. room is a bit small but adequate was good for stop over free parking
- Ben (8/5): - A good stopping point before long drive down west side of France. Basic but suitable accommodation and facilities for adults and prenagers
- Robert (10/5): A long way to go for a beer. - For a budget hotel it was great for what l needed. Cheap and cheerful with lovely comfy bed and a terrific shower that properly blasted away the night before but, BE AWARE that this hotel is NOWHERE NEAR central Calais. It is basically designed for truck drivers and is out on a limb by the motorway and a 40 MINUTE WALK from town 😥
- Stephen (10/5): - Straightforward hotel fine for short stay
- Angela (10/5): - Safe parking, easy self check in. Perfect for early ferry.
- Wynne (8/5): - Only problem was we were charged again for the booking when using the automatic check in. Now trying to get the money back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Just the job - We needed a convenient place to rest before our ferry trip back to the UK and this place met all of our expectations. Clean, efficient check in procedure & ample free parking. The only small observation is that the parking gate didn’t seem to be secure or locked at night!
- Howard (10/5): ITS A VERY GOOD EXAMPLE OF WHAT IT SHOULD BE. - EXCELLENT HELPFUL RECEPTIONIST ELIZABETH.CLEAN AND PEACEFUL PLACE . GOOD BREAKFAST AND CLEAN THROUGHOUT.
- Sandra (8/5): - The manager was lovely - very friendly and helpful and the kitchen service at breakfast was immaculate.
- Michael (10/5): - We've stayed here quite often and as always staff were good, great breakfast and comfortable rooms.
- Becki (10/5): - Always a great place to stop after getting off a late ferry to start our journey in France the following morning. Rooms are basic, but thoughtfully designed with everything you need. There are vending machines and microwaves in the lobby. We've never had the continental breakfast but always thought it look good and was good value. We have stayed here many times and will continue to do so.
- C M (8/5): - It is ok for a night only stand in our way back to England !
Food on the morning was ok !
- John (6/5): OK for what it is - It is a standard Calais one night stay before crossing the channel 'hotel'. All in all, a bed, a toilet and a shower. As usual, no gel in the gel dispenser. However, no kettle or coffee things in the room.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Useful stop before or after channel crossing. Very basic and rooms not soundproofed at all.
- Vivien (8/5): One night stay - Hi when we first arrived we were shown to a room that had been slept in the beds were as someone had left them that day. Then we was given a clean room which was comfortable but noisey next to a roundabout. Access to motorway was very good so location was excellent.
- Verified traveler (6/5): It’s ok for a short stay - The hotel itself was good. Although we had a bit of difficulty trying to check-in as it was our first time to do self check-in, we thought that it was safer like that. The room is ok although the space is quite small.
We couldn’t properly slept because we hear noisy people outside, the walls are not thick enough.
Another issue was the cloth cover of the shower, it was smelly. They should put at least a plastic one or a door to cover it.
Overall, our stay was just ok.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Fine for a stopover - All you need for an overnight stop. Plenty of places to go out to eat. Clean & tidy. Only downside it can be noisy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff was very helpful and offered me flexibility when they didn't have to (I had booked the wrong dates)
The hotel was clean and quiet, all we needed for a one night stay.
- Caroline (8/5): Iid Budget Hotel - The hotel is a budget hotel, so you get a basic deal. However, the staff are friendly and helpful. The room was spotlesdly clean with light switches and TV remote etc being sanitized. A tick list was left in the room. Easy parking.
- Katie (6/5): Handy hotel for one night stay access ferry. - Hotel was a good location and easy to find. Pretty much as expected. Room was fairly small but comfortable just hot due to weather and no air conditioning. The gentleman managing breakfast was friendly and helpful.
- David (10/5): - Large room comfortably accommodating 4 adults and bikes. Excellent shower, good quiet location. Helpful staff.
- Charlotte (8/5): Great for a stopover - Great stopover after our crossing on the Eurotunnel. Family room well laid out and though small was ideal for one night. Fab burger restaurant over the road which was open late.
- Joanne (2/5): DONT THINK STAYING AT THIS BED SIT - Awful no towel no ac , no soap or shampoo noises outside really bad
- Andrew (8/5): Clean, Convenient and Courteous - As others have said, this hotel serves a specific purpose; a convenient stopover during a long trip. There is nothing fancy about the hotel just a clean and quiet room.
The service was excellent, very polite and efficient check in and check out.
I would definitely return
- Evan (6/5): Close to Chunnel - They have a great after hours automated check in system. Unfortunately, the hotels.com reservation number isn’t the same as the number the hotel assigns and uses to check in. After three attempts to get someone on the after hours receptionist we got checked in without any further problems. I found the beds a bit too hard but my spouse though they were perfect. Place was clean and we would probably stay again since it’s a short 10 min drive to the Chunnel.
- Rick (8/5): - Self check-in was a breeze.
Room was good but very small and nowhere to put anything.
- Fiona (10/5): - The best hotel we have stayed in in Calais, clean and welcoming and good value
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel is 10 minutes from the ferry port. The guy at reception is very nice and helpful. Breakfast very nice.and the location is great. Has a boulangerie, Wine cave, restaurant,McDonald’s within couple of minuteswalking distance.
- Andrew (8/5): Nice hotel. - We’ve stayed here 4 or 5 times. Pleasant enough hotel. Clean, good condition. Plenty to eat nearby and within walking distance of many more restaurants.
On our previous visit the room wasn’t ready for over 1 hour and on this visit we were stuck outside in the rain because the auto check in wasn’t working. That said, we would certainly stay again... inconvenient as it was, these things happen I suppose!
- Adam (6/5): Mixed feelings about this... - It's priced like a 3/4 star hotel but when I turned up it looks more like a budget hotel. When we arrived at 3pm no staff was present except security guards. I tried the self check-in machine but it failed to recognise my hotel.com reservation number (it's own reservation code is only 6 digits), a quick intercom conversation solved this.
I walked up to my family room and the door was wide open and it was very messy presumably waiting to be cleaned. It was fine after I returned a few hours later, not good if you wanted a break in your room after check-in.
The family room was surprisingly clean and modern though it is definitely on the small side for 4 people. The beds were firm and supportive so we all had a good sleep but the TV didn't work, desk was too small, no bins, kettles, cups or any amenities, the living space and the toilet is not big enough for people to move about.
The morning was briefly interrupted by noise from the back of the hotel, a quick glance saw 15 police cars and as many policemen gathering in the car park presumably to meet up, collect their vehicles and go to work together.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a problem and the staff were superb in sorting it out for us.
- Kerry (10/5): Good stay - Basic, clean room, easy check in via the machine.
- Michael (10/5): Mike - London - I always stay here when traveling across to France late. Good price , clean , nice breakfast . Staff always helpful
Recommend
- Theresa (10/5): Great for a stopover - Ideal place for a one nigh trip. Excellent breakfast (including scrambled eggs and bacon) and lovely fresh bread. Friendly helpful staff. If reception is not manned you enter your own details at the checkin screen and the door opens for you so you do have to be tech savvie! It worked well for us and was in easy walking distance of Calais Town Centre. Plenty of places to eat round about.
- Igor (10/5): - Nice place , I will use again. Very clean , nice staff ,good ambient!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location, friendly staff, pet friendly. Breakfast had a good selection.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - As usual with a B&B the room was small and basic, but clean and good value for money. However unusually for the B&Bs we've stayed in (many, right across France) our room here didn't have air conditioning, which, with 4 people in a tiny room, and near a busy road wasn't great in 30 degree heat.
- phillip (10/5): Calais - Good clean friendly hotel
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I found this hotel very good, I requested assisted room and were given one. It was great value for money, with food outlets within walking distance.
Breakfast room very squeezy, breakfast plentiful.
Only negative would be it was not close to city centre but if I wanted that, room rates were much higher
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very poor selection of cereals at breakfast, Luke warm coffee, should invest in a proper coffee machine not worth the 6.50 euros
- Alan (10/5): Very good hotel - Friendly efficient staff . Clean rooms . Ideal position . Recommend
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We have been staying here for many years and it is gradually getting less well cared for. Still "ok" but nothing to write home about.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean, functional and very convenient for the Channel Tunnel
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It is inexpensive but comfortable with all the amenities we needed: free parking and wifi, 3 separate beds, and a shower.
- philip (4/5): noisy neighbour in next room - We have stayed at this B&B Hotel on many occasions in the past when we have been returning to UK as it is very convenient for Channel Tunnel, have no complaints against the hotel but on this occasion we had noisy people in next room who were repeatably opened and closed doors and windows and smoking calling out names through out the night keeping us awake and waking us up again when we finally got to sleep,we had early 7-30 train to catch but were woken again at about 5am and left to catch earlier train rather than hang about in our room
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff member was super friendly and helpful, gave us detailed directions where we wanted to go
- Keith (10/5): - Great place for being central to lots of places
- Andrew (8/5): Clean and tidy but NOT a family sized room. - The room was clean, tidy and well decorated but far too small to be called a ‘family room’ and have an extra 2 beds crammed in.
The automatic check in didn’t work with our code but this was easily resolved via an intercom.
We enjoyed a quiet and pleasant enough night though.
The only nearby restaurant is McDonald’s but one could easily find somewhere else.
- Samantha (10/5): Great Calais stay! - I wanted to get to Calais the night before my trip over the channel and looked for the cheapest option available. This actually turned out being a great hotel - very friendly staff. They emailed ahead of my stay to give me a code for checking in out of hours. Very proactively efficient. The hotel and room was not just clean but brand new - everything was spotless and shining. The breakfast was good - extremely good value for 6€. Parking was free and ample. I’d recommend this to anyone needing a place to crash in Calais and if I’m ever in need, I wouldn’t hesitate to book again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Was a great experience. Check in and out we simple and the staff were wonderful :)
- Geoff (10/5): Hotel left a very favourable impression - Hotel was easy to find, being just off the A16 in Calais. Very handy for the ferry and tunnel. The room, although compact, was clean and the bed was comfortable. Good, free wi-fi. A range of vending machines for snacks and drinks (hot and cold) was in the lobby. I was impressed with this hotel, all for a very reasonable cost.
- Alison (8/5): Perfect overnight stop - Late check-in was easy. Simply furnished room was clean (slightly damp smell in bathroom)
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Central location with very quick access to the motorway but surprisingly quiet at night (with the window open), well heated, excellent breakfast, accomodating staff. Shower/toilet area super clean and recently uprated, bedroom very clean. No tea/coffee making facilities although it did have some UK tv channels!
- John (10/5): Perfect for the Eurotunnel. - Easy to find. Good parking. Convenient, clean and comfortable. Excellent shower. Very close to the Eurotunnel.
- Edward (10/5): Friendly - It was very nice
- Verified traveler (6/5): - As I was arriving after 9pm I knew reception would be closed but as they have self service check in I thought this would be ok. The reference number from Expedia didn’t work so I couldn’t check in. Luckily as it was just after 9pm the receptionist was still there so checked me in. He also gave us an adapted room as he knew my daughters wheelchair wouldn’t fit in the standard rooms. Thank you to the wonderful receptionist there
- Verified traveler (4/5): - We arrived late to find people sleeping in the corridor in sleeping bags.
- Tara (4/5): Okish - The bed was solid and we had a door to the hallway next to us which was rather loud
- Philip (8/5): Basic, functional and great for one night - This hotel really is all you need when breaking a journey between to or from Europe. Getting the check in automated code means you can use a machine when reception is closed, great if your journey overruns. The car park is secured overnight, sadly nescessary for all Calais stays it seems. Yes it’s a basic hotel but clean, the bedding and bed seem ok, on the form side. I’d use again.
- Colin (10/5): - Stopover for Eurotunnel. Clean, warm, just what we needed.
- Niall (8/5): - Comfortable, basic hotel. Not close to many shops/restaurants but conveniently located close to motorway to/from Calais Port. Simple, no-frills hotel but perfectly adequate for a night or two. Only dining options within walking distance are an American style diner or McDonalds. There is a bakery across the road from the hotel. There is secure free parking. The family room had a double bed and 2 bunk beds, all of which were perfectly acceptable for our needs. The en-suite shower-room was functional but would benefit from a larger curtain and higher lip on the shower tray as the floor can get quite wet - and the single floor mat can't really cope with the amount of water that splashed onto the floor. Other reviewers have commented that the rooms are quite small but it didn't cause us any problems. I would happily stay at this hotel again. The room has a television with some English channels as well as a good selection of French channels but no mini-bar, kettle, hairdryer, etc. Apart from the bed and clothing rail, there is only a small table and chair.
- John (4/5): - On arriving that b&b hotel we could not get in the gate or hotel, as the numbers you gave me did not work.
We had to get the on your intercom
as code is on the receipt which we don’t get till we have paid.
- Lesley (8/5): Clean and convenient to port. - Very convenient stop for ferry terminal just off the motorway. The hotel seemed to have been refurbished recently. As we arrived early we needed a code sent in a separate email to obtain the room code.I did not have this as had been in transit however a quick press on the help button and I was given a code to enter which then provided me with a different door code. This second code was also needed to edit the car park at 5 in the morning so make sure to keep it handy. The system works but was a bit of a pain after an 8 hour drive.
- Angela (8/5): PreFerry stopover - Convenient overnight stop before our early Calais ferry . Clean and confortable .. would definitely use again. 1km from Calais centre but McDonalds, a diner and a bakery directly opposite can provide the basics
- Duncan (8/5): - There was only one pillow each on the bed, but a visit to reception rectified this problem & we were supplied with two more pillows immediately without any problem.
The temperature control on the shower in our room was broken and unusable, so a very quick & very hot shower was had!
We'd forgotten our shower gel,but thought it wouldn't be a problem as most hotels nowadays seem to have shampoo dispensers in the bathroom - but not here.
However to be fair one our way to checkout we did spot a poster in the stairwell on the wall saying to ask at reception if you'd forgotten any toileteries - too late for us by then though, but perhaps a card in each room saying that would be more helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A good budget hote, clean and reasonably confortablel. Near a busy road, so noise at night is disturbing with the window open (no air con).
- Dave (10/5): Handy for the ferry. - Good little hotel and very handy for the ferry. Not much around the area but about a mile walk into the town centre where there are many shops and bars. Automated check in was useful.
- John (8/5): - Hotel is value for money and, being close to motorway, convenient for ferry (10 minutes).
- Kerry (10/5): Great hotel - Hotel + Breakfast were fantastic
- Martin (8/5): Excellent - Room was clean tidy, buffet breakfast was very good with a warm element of bacon and scrambled eggs!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Neat, clean, quiet and comfortable - Pleasant situation. I would have liked to have known that it would be a good idea to take a few basic provisions and equipment.
- Hilary (10/5): easy access to channel tunnel - just off the A16
close to city de Europe and cheap diesel
not far from Calais centre
- michael (8/5): Good, clean, basic hotel - Well placed for an overnight stop to or from the port. Very clean with adequate parking and everything we needed including a good breakfast which was in the room price. Very easy auto check in. Would recommend for an overnight stop but not much around within walking distance
- david (10/5): Perfect for traveling - Clean, comfortable bed. Good hot shower, beautiful soft towels. Good breakfast. Excellent for a good sleep while travelling.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean and simple, small, convenient - Convenient location for a late channel crossing, less than 15 minutes from the ferry port and even closer to the tunnel. Local area has a burger bar and a bakery nearby, but the main attraction is it's very easy to drive out and the autoroute access is about 300m. Car park small and busy, not helped by someone parking across two bays, but we found a proper space. Automated check in with the code sent on hotels.com in the day before worked OK despite a wobbly touchscreen. The hotel uses no keys but a six-digit room access code, so it's worth accepting the offered paper receipt or immediately writing it down so you don't have to remember it. Clean and simple small room, reminiscent of ibis's old style. Everything worked. Breakfast the following morning was a simple buffet with croissants, tea/coffee, bread, yogurt, fruit juice and eggs. Breakfast room is slightly cramped but rather that than not enough seating space. Check out is very simple - no key, so you just close the room door and walk straight out.
