- Jesse (10/5): Exceptional - This was a wonderful relaxing visit, I enjoyed the hotel so much. They have a beautiful garden and pool, very quiet and relaxing. The hosts were the best people you could want. I visited to have a quiet escape that was not in a big city and this was perfect. I can say the posted pictures are true to the place and it is well kept.

- Aimee (10/5): Exceptional - The atmosphere created at The Cottages with all the tropical flowers in the courtyard around the pool is wonderful, the pool was amazing and so refreshing, the location on Malecon, closeness to the Ocean, the addition of the rooftop terrace overlooking the sea was a huge bonus, would be a great gathering place for larger groups and even a great dinner spot if it was opened up to the community, and the staff was just delightful. Our time spent talking with Lucinda and Jay was a huge blessing to us! We enjoyed those two and loved hearing a little bit of their life stories. Lucinda is the sweetest lady, and goes out of her way to serve and puts lots of love into her meals, and drink mixing skills are top notch. The little details make us feel so special. We really appreciate her. Thank you two for hosting us, and Kimberly you choose well, these two are keepers, hard working, kind and people with integrity! Do whatever you can to keep them as long as you can! Lord willing our paths will cross again and if we ever find ourselves in need of a place to stay in San Clemente/San Jacinto we will definitely choose The Cottages!

- Jose (10/5): Exceptional - A total hidden gem! A last minute booking turned out to be a highlight of our trip to the northern Ecuadorian coast. Kim and her entire staff (including the furry welcoming committee) were the friendliest we’ve encountered by far. We can’t say enough about our amazing stay at Cottages by the Sea. Gorgeous ocean views, gorgeous gardens, gorgeous rooms! Impeccable clean…we can’t wait to visit again and bring our whole family!

- Andrei (10/5): We will return very soon. - We liked staying in “cottages by the sea” very much. The location is great, you can always hear the ocean noise. It was a surprise to meet English speaking hosts. Oliver and Carmen are very friendly and welcoming. They helped us with delivery from cafes, gave games and swimming accessories for children. Moreover it seems to be a very safe place. We didn't even always close the door. Especially nothing. Everything was fine.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property is beautifully maintained in a small fishing village with great character. The owner and staff make you feel at home once you walk through the gates. First to time to Ecuador and it will not be our last to this unique hotel. You can hear the Ocean all day and night from every room and it is only footsteps away. Awesome place and hospitality and some cold beer and cool sunsets. There is good wifi but leave your D^%n phone in the room.

- Kristine (6/5): Small hotel close to the beach. - This was our first stop after flying to Manta on the coast of Ecuador. It was right in the middle of the country's carnival which made the town very congested and noisy. When we arrived and asked for confirmation of the free breakfast, we were told it wasn't included. However, upon showing the written confirmation, the owner agreed. Although they do not appear to be well set up for providing breakfasts, the staff did put together a good breakfast for us. I think if we had purchased one of their larger rooms our experience might have been a lot better, but they were full on the night of arrival. The room we had was very small, and although it had all the features mentioned below, it did not meet our needs so we left after the first night even though we were paid for three nights. We drove to a different town with a nicer beach and stayed there for three nights. Even though the new place cost a bit more and had none of the features listed below under "...likes...", we found it much better than Cottages by the Sea because it was spacious, airy, well-lit, modern, very clean, had lots of hooks & hangers and places to put our bags and things, had two multi-speed fans in each room and had an immaculate, bright bathroom with high-end fixtures.
