• Snyder (6/5): Unacceptable Privacy Violation and Mishandling of Guest Property - We had a very frustrating experience during our stay. Despite having a “Do Not Disturb” sign clearly displayed on both of our rooms (311 and 313), housekeeping still entered and stripped the beds. This was not only a clear invasion of privacy, but it also resulted in a personal item—AirPods that were left in the sheets—going missing. When I reported the issue to the front desk, there was little urgency or ownership. It took speaking with three different people before anyone meaningfully engaged. I was told the manager, Renatta, would call me directly, but I never received that call. I ultimately spent over an hour at the front desk trying to get assistance while tracking the AirPods, which showed they were still in the hotel. As I suspected, the AirPods were eventually found in the laundry—but only after I stood there waiting for someone to take action. This entire situation could have been avoided had our “Do Not Disturb” request been respected in the first place. Additionally, our room was missing basic amenities like shampoo. After three calls and over an hour wait, it was finally delivered—causing us to be late to a family engagement. Overall, the lack of respect for guest privacy, poor responsiveness, and lack of follow-through from management made this an extremely disappointing stay. This level of service is simply unacceptable.

The staff are nice and it’s a fine hotel. However, there’s really no benefit of status here. Never been upgraded. Suite night awards never come through. No free breakfast. Parking is a fortune. No room service. Dont expect any meaningful benefits to having status here. Actually considering trying out some of the other hotels in the area. Have heard good things about the concourse, the double tree and the edge water. Will report back.

The breakfast was very sparse with only some salami slides as meat choices. Overall great location and view but expected more from an AC property.

• 261frankj (8/5): Great Stay with Capitol Views and a Surprisingly Solid Breakfast - The AC Hotel in Madison was a great stay. The breakfast really stood out—lots of healthy choices plus one made-to-order egg dish, which was a nice touch. I normally skip hotel breakfasts and eat outside. The staff were friendly and on top of things, and the view of the Capitol from the 10th-floor restaurant is honestly worth waking up for. But in this case the staff had miscommunicated the closing time of the restaurant while I was in transit and when I arrived the hotel the restaurant closed an hour earlier than what i was told. So by morning I was starving. The fitness center has that same awesome Capitol view, which makes a quick workout feel a lot more enjoyable. I went in the afternoon and had the whole place to myself, but it’s definitely on the smaller side. It has a bit of everything—cardio, some machines, a dumbbell rack—but if three or four people were in there at once, it would feel pretty cramped. Still, for squeezing in a workout on a short trip, it got the job done.

It was my son's move-in weekend at the University of Wisconsin so we really needed it to be a special few days and this fabulous hotel delivered. Our rooms were very comfortable, especially Room 601 which was a corner room with a stunning view of the lake. The people were kind and helpful. The restaurant is delicious and has an extraordinary view of the Capitol buiilding. We loved our stay!!

From the start, she was incredibly kind, courteous, and friendly—making us feel welcome right away. She’s clearly very knowledgeable about the area and gave us fantastic recommendations for places to eat along State Street. We were in town for a biking trip, and when we mentioned our plans, Olivia went above and beyond—providing clear directions once we were on the bike path and suggesting fun stops along the way. Her enthusiasm for Madison really shone through, and her helpful tips made our visit even more enjoyable. If you’re staying at the AC Hotel, keep an eye out for Olivia—she’s a gem!

• 301kelliew (4/5): Terrible Room - Our daughter will be attending University of Wisconsin for the next four years. We booked the AC Marriott in Madison for the first time, and thought that this would be our hotel while we visit our daughter over the next four years for multiple weekend events. We flew in late because we were flying from the West Coast. We were put in Room 216. It was like we were put in the dungeon. It only had a sliver of a window, and the entire room was either on top of a laundry room or next to HVAC units because the entire room vibrated all night. It was the worst room that I have ever stayed in a hotel. The next morning I spoke with someone about our room, and she moved us into a better room. I asked if they always put their guests who arrive late in the worst rooms, and she said they try not to, but it can happen. Why was she able to put us in another room at 8:30am? This room was not available the night before? It seems that Marriott needs to do a better job of taking care of their Bonvoy customers. For example, if you know you have a customer who has reserved a room and who stays with Marriott for work, you reserve a room that is acceptable - no matter what time they arrive. Knowing that AC Marriott will not factor this in and we will continue to have late night flights into Madison, it is not worth the risk of staying in a bad room when we get in. We will be staying in other hotels for our visits to Madison... thank you.

I went back down to the front desk and asked for 3 rooms with a Capital view. We got almost everything we asked for with the exception of all 3 rooms being together (2 were together)!!! All king beds, all upper floors, we were very pleased with the results!! We also asked for a late check out because our daughter was getting sworn in at the capital and the hotel staff was very accommodating to our needs as well storing our luggage as well until we got done 2 hours later. Olivia at the Valet was also extremely helpful due to our late car pick up because our daughter was dead last in the process but everything was smooth and seamless!! We had such a great stay we would love to come back and stay here just to see more of the city!!!

In a town that is generally friendly, compassionate and holistic this hotel stands out like a sore thumb.

• Maps68320366918 (6/5): Rude staff; Given an accessible room when I didn’t book one - My husband and I have been Marriott members for over 20 years and actually own two Marriott timeshares. I think this is the first time I have been disappointed with the treatment by a staff member. I booked a King room (non accessible room) for three nights at the AC Hotel-Madison using 104,000 points. I checked in, got to my room, and it’s an accessible room. I walked back down to speak to the woman who checked me in and indicated to her that I was given an accessible room by mistake because I did not reserve that type of room. She said to me that I booked a general King room which could be any type of room, including accessible, hearing impaired, etc. and that’s the only room available and that they are fully booked. I went on their website to see if I could book a room for that evening/my three nights stay and there were rooms available. She said that the website was wrong and kept repeating that they were sold out and that’s the only room available to me even though that’s not the room I booked. She said that a regular King room means accessible as well. If that is the case, why were there options for me to choose a regular king, accessible or hearing impaired room? And I had chose the regular king room. Perhaps I was using points so they were saving the regular king rooms for the cash paying customers. The woman helping me was slightly curt and uninterested in helping me at all. I would not stay there again and not recommend to my friends or family when they visit their kids at UW. It’s a shame because the location is great and the view from the 10th floor restaurant of the Capitol is phenomenal. One more thing. To the woman’s defense, after my complaining, she did give me a few complimentary breakfast coupons.

We went and looked and decided to go somewhere else for tge selection they had The coffee situation was bizarre as you had to ask for a pod My husband and i travel alot - this was a nice hotel but did not live ip to the price charged - you can stay at another hotel with many more imenities for the price they charge as well as larger rooms nearby.
• Terri (4/5): - The bathroom floor was filthy with hair all over. The toilet paper holder was broke. The roll kept falling off and rolling all over the floor.
• Robert (4/5): Disappointing - When asking for a bottle of water from the bar or front desk they would refer you to a water bottle filling station. The blinds are extremely loud when raising or lowering. You can hear everything in other rooms. Cannot check out in your room. Extremely small room.

• Megan (7/5): Won’t go back - Location Room was ok but nothing special Did not like: Breakfast not good ,had very limited food Choices (kitchen could prepare just 2 dishes);+ plus sparsely provided, limited platters of cheese, processed meats, fruit, which seemed to never be refreshed. 1. Extremely over priced on 2 of The 4 nights we spent there . (Felt we had to stay at this hotel due to our Madison engagements.) 2. Valet parking payment process. They require a credit card upon arrival, then without notifying me, charged me for 4 nights valet parking on my first night there. (I was able to get a refund for nights 2-4, but only after 2 phone calls, which had to be made to the parking manager - I could not correct this situation through the front desk. Additionally, each interaction re valet parking, in addition to the fee (about $25+, can’t remember exactly), the request submitted to reclaim one’s car requested a pre-set tip for the parking attendant, $5 and more. • Eugene (8/5): - checked out and talked to the front desk staff about paying for valet parking and was told it was taken care of and added to my bill. Later that day I received a text saying I needed to take care of my parking bill, and after calling back I was told the desk people can't do that, the Valet people have to. You need to instruct the staff about this as it was a big pain and quite annoying for me. I will be watching for double billing on my card just to make sure I don't get billed twice.
• Curious786450 (4/5): Smelly and loud - After a move from an extremely warm room that the air conditioning couldn’t cool (in October)… we found ourselves in room 816. This room smells as though someone is trying to fend off vampires. Garlic cloves have to hidden in drains or under mattresses. The smell along with all the loud sounds from above or beside makes it impossible to sleep. It looks pretty, but it is gross.
• Z7056PBjustinm (4/5): Loyalty - As a titanium member, I received a bottom floor room that faced a wall. Bathroom fixtures were broken. I couldn't turn on the lamps. Front desk didn't seem to invested in customer service. This was my fourth time at the hotel. This is how they treat loyalty.

• David (10/5): - All interactions with staff members were very professional and friendly. The morning breakfast buffet was both unique and affordable. We definitely enjoyed the 10th floor lounge later in the evening which had great cocktails and beer/wine selections as well as a nice view of the capitol building.
• 413nirk (10/5): Great public areas! - New hotel with comfortable rooms and amenities. Excellent location with short walking distance to main attractions in town. Public areas are excellent with lots of spots for meetings including a small library on the second floor. Rooms on the 9th floor can get noisy towards the end of the night when the bar is closing.
• Anthony (10/5): - Great location. Walking distance to the capital and many dining options.
• Verified traveler (6/5): - Check-in was not pleasant. Front desk worker was quite rude. We had already paid for the room via hotels.com but the hotel charged us again on-site. Worker said it wasn’t his problem that we already paid via hotels.com and double-charged us anyway. His supervisor stepped in and apologized and fixed the situation. It wasn’t great. We wouldn’t stay there again.
