Guest Reviews
- Lea (10/5): - This place was the perfect way to end our honeymoon trip to Costa Rica. Loved how eco conscious this hotel was. It was a beautiful, quiet stay tucked away in the jungle with close access to the beach. The monkeys paid us a visit on the patio and we heard them around the hotel, which was a pretty cool experience! The pool is very nice and clean and was a great way to cool off after the beach and our excursions. The staff is very friendly and helpful and they offer a lot of fun excursions and experiences you can book right from your hotel. We also booked a couples massage, which was heavenly! Highly recommend for a romantic/honeymoon/anniversary trip, especially for nature lovers!
- Rhonda O'Brien (10/5): - The property was very nice and the staff were excellent!!
- Roger (8/5): - Our waiter Alejandro was great, he made our stay there fantastic. He should be the manager there, he took care of us when the manager never show her face to deal our complaints.
- Michelle (8/5): - Small boutique hotel that was good. Rooms a little outdated but fine. Loved how the monkeys came to your balcony but be careful because they will take things
- John (10/5): - Great service. Birds and animals in frequent view. Plenty of outlets for charging.
- Tina (10/5): - The panoramic view was absolutely gorgeous. The staff was amazing. We couldn't have asked for a better stay.
- Anthony (6/5): - Room was good, but the hotel is small, and not that nice.
- Thomas (10/5): - Everything was great thank you
- Deborah (10/5): - Amazing views wonderful meals and quiet. Pool was nice with views of the ocean
- Rauvy (10/5): - Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Upon arrival we were given a tour of the property and our room. Anything we asked for was provided and all staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful. Restaurant was amazing. Great patio area for relaxing and watching the monkeys play in trees on the grounds. Amazing views from deck in room, restaurant and pool area.
Would definitely recommend and would stay here again if we are ever back in the area.
- Sandy (10/5): - This property was beautiful. Very relaxing. The staff went above and beyond for all our needs. Highly recommend this hotel
- DANIEL (8/5): - Beautiful hotel with amazing views. The staff are wonderful, provide top notch service. The reason I cannot leave a five star review is because we struggle getting hot water every single day. Each room has a jacuzzi and we weren't able to use it because of the cold water. The shower lukewarm at best. They really need to invest in a proper water heating system.
- George (10/5): - The friendliness of the staff was exceptional. They went out of their way to make your stay wonderful! The restaurant views are a 10 and the cleanliness around the property and especially the pool was impeccable. Parking was very easy and a few steps from the entrance! I highly recommend this hotel !
- Charlotte (10/5): - Amazing views off the balcony including visits by white-faced monkeys! The property is beautiful, wonderful restaurant next to pool with ocean views. The food and service was great!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Issimo is Wonderful - This hotel is beautiful and the location is stunning. The staff was wonderful and the food was excellent. We had a fantastic time.
The only issue we had was with the private trail to the hidden beach. The trail is very steep and very difficult to navigate in places, so be careful if you decide to use it.
- Heinrich (8/5): - Very nice place for a quiet retreat.
- Brigitte (10/5): - We loved our stay there . Very clean, very quiet, gorgeous view from our room/balcony and the dining area wonderful staff; we enjoyed the jacuzzi on the balcony in the evening in the middle of the rain forest. Several monkeys visited our balcony in the morning, and I took some great videos of them. I also saw them jump from tree to tree right outside our room. Exhilarating! Wish we could have stayed longer; can’t say anything about dinner as we arrived too late for us to eat, although the restaurant was still open. Great place! Warmly recommend.
- Teri (10/5): - This was a very nice property. We really enjoyed the beautiful view from our room and also from the common areas of the property. We had our little monkey friends come by for visits right on our balcony. So cute. We would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a nice, quiet and relaxing stay.
- John (10/5): - Nice property, beautiful view, hreat food, wildlife visitors.
- Dewi (10/5): WE ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! - Its a small hotel on a rocky cliff face - no access to beach. Many stairs and no lift. I think we had the best room we have ever had - absolutely loved it. Room 101! Staff were lovely. Monkeys popped over - lock your balcony door after putting some banana out there. The only thing that didn't impress me was some fried reformed cheap boiled ham on a breakfast plate once - do bacon as pictured or don't bother! Breakfast was otherwise great and dinner v good though. WE ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!
- Jon (10/5): - Fabulous hotel. Amazing views, wonderful staff, nice rooms and great food. Close enough to be able to walk to the beaches and shops but also nicely remote. Will definitely come back again.
- Julianne (10/5): - We had excellent service at the restaurant.
- Manuel (10/5): - I can see the wildlife from the room and eating area.
- ALEXANDER (10/5): - It’s expensive but it worth it
The food in restaurant is outstanding. There was live music and they also have private security on the property
- Rosemary (10/5): - Upon our arrival at Issimo, we were greeted with champagne, as if the staff had been eagerly anticipating us. The check-in process was seamless, and we were invited to leave our bags while the concierge guided us through the hotel’s stunning grounds. We explored the restaurant, pool area, and the beautiful spa, designed like an intimate cave. Our spacious room was immaculate, featuring a jacuzzi, stand-up shower, balcony, and a bidet. Just outside our balcony, a curious capuchin monkey peeked at us as if to say, "Welcome," before darting away.
Breakfast each morning was a delightful experience, thanks to the lovely Julia, our attentive server. She greeted us with a vibrant platter of fresh fruit as soon as we sat down, demonstrating her commitment to ensuring we had a wonderful start to our day. Julia was also happy to share her knowledge about Costa Rica.
Dinner featured daily specials, and the staff welcomed personal requests based on available ingredients. Don’t miss the red snapper! Our evening server, Randal, took great pride in his work, always personable and well-informed about local hotspots to explore.
After a week, we truly felt a connection with both Julia and Randal. Issimo is fortunate to have such dedicated team members.
This charming hotel offers a peaceful retreat, perfect for those looking to escape the party scene of nearby Jaco. For us, coming from a bustling city, it was a perfect antidote to the chaos of daily life.
- Joseph (4/5): - The hotel is dated and the shower was falling apart. The pool is useless as there is no shallow end and not place to sit in the pool. The food was ok at best. My spouse and I were the only ones in the restaurant for dinner one night so I asked the waiter if the chef would filet the fish rather than have a whole fish. He gave me such a hard time but eventually the chef conceded
When we asked Francois to see if a taxi would take us .25 miles up the road, wait for 5min to get an ice cream to take back to the hotel, and bring us back for 10 dollars, he said no. They would charge us for 2 trips and he would not even try!
We used Uber. Uber worked great during the day but not at night
There are much better hotels and for less money
Pass on this hotel
- Vanessa (10/5): - Nice place.
- Leon (8/5): - Fantastic views , great staff, great poolll
- Georgina (10/5): Issimo - a jewel - Issimo is a wonderful bijou hotel. A jewel.
The service was amazing and the food was exceptional. I had a massage that was so good. Nothing was too much trouble for all the staff.
- adrian (10/5): - Great staff!!!!
- Mariah (10/5): - Great place
- Nyk (10/5): - Amazing experience!
- Stan (8/5): Manuel Antonio - Great hotel in great location. Randall at the restaurant is a super star! Everything is possible with Randall!
- Donald (10/5): - Stayed on the top floor, amazing views
- Deborah (10/5): Beautiful view! - Wonderful hotel! Excellent food, great service. Loved the pool area. The hotel was relaxing. The staff was attentive and friendly. Gorgeous views!
- Jacob (10/5): - this place was great!
- Yesenia (10/5): Great stay - Felt safe and homey
Beautiful surroundings
- Amy (10/5): - We went here for our honeymoon- and LOVED it!! Incredible breakfast, beautiful view right from the dining area, sunsets unlike any I’ve ever seen, right from our jacuzzi. Private jacuzzi on each balcony… amazing. Also plenty of options for local tours/etc and they arrange for transportation and guides and everything.
Manuel Antonio national park- amazing wildlife, worth getting a guide who can point out all the biodiversity with binoculars!! And the beach there is incredible- clear water, white sands. Not much to see as far as hiking - for avid hikers might be better to go to a different part of Costa Rica.
10-15 minute hike to several private or semi private beaches, which we enjoyed we love hiking. 20 minute walk to Manuel Antonio, several cute restaurants - would recommend Emilio’s Cafe, Monarcha (butterfly cafe & good breakfast). Don’t recommend the restaurant Sunset! Food was overpriced and not very good. Issimo’s restaurant was delicious!! Staff very prompt and kind. Definitely pricey so we went to Manuel Antonio most nights. The suites at Issimo do appear not to have been remodeled since ~2010 or earlier- so alittle older BUT we didn’t really care, found it still incredibly luxurious for us, especially for the price.
Hope this review helps! We loved Issimo
- patricia (10/5): - The sliding door to the balcony had a space between the door and the floor which allowed bugs to crawl in.
- Madison (10/5): - Incredible views, friendly and attentive staff, delicious food served in the open air restaurant, poolside, or your room.
Pool deck has a great view with plenty of areas to lounge in the shade, even while taking a swim. Very intimate and thoughtfully designed hotel, great for couples. We will be back for sure.
- Lori (10/5): - Beautiful views. Friendly staff. Quaint. Nice breakfast.
Must select your room ahead if u expect hot tub balcony.
- Mike (10/5): - Great pool with perfect sunset view. Staff and food were great
- Ravi (8/5): - courteous staff, clean place, good Amenities, great ambience, great views of ocean.
- Airma (10/5): - Beautiful location. Staff was amazing. Yvania at the front desk is the best concierge. Julia served my decaf espresso with foam every day with a super smile & friendly service. Food was great. Pool was perfect. The beds & pillows were comfortable. What a wonderful trip at Issimo Suites. I loved waking up every morning to the sound of Howler monkeys & many tropical birds. We even swam with the white face monkeys in the pool one day..... very carefully & from afar ;) It was an extra luxury to have the shuttle service transport us around at no charge. A special shout out to Jose, Geiner & Randall all who made the trip truly unforgettable.
- Elisabeth (10/5): - Beautiful hotel and pool area-
Great views - wonderful staff
My stay was everything I wanted
- Merissa (10/5): - Our recent stay at Issimo Suites was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality by the incredibly friendly staff. Their attentiveness and eagerness to assist truly enhanced the experience.
One of the highlights of our stay was undoubtedly the breathtaking views that surrounded the hotel. Waking up to the lush greenery, ocean views, chirping birds, and abundant wildlife each morning was a treat for the senses. Whether lounging on the balcony or savoring a meal at the hotel's restaurant, the panoramic vistas never failed to impress.
Speaking of the restaurant, we had the pleasure of dining there with a large group of 20 people one evening. Despite the unexpected size of our party, the staff rose to the occasion admirably. We ordered a variety of dishes from the menu, and every single one exceeded our expectations.
The pool area was another standout feature. Not only was the pool impeccably maintained, but the temperature was absolutely perfect throughout our entire stay. Whether we wanted to take a refreshing dip or simply soak up the sun poolside, it was the ideal spot to unwind and relax. Plus, the poolside cocktails (especially the mojitos) were delicious.
Overall, our time at Issimo Suites exceeded all expectations. The combination of friendly staff and stunning views made for an unforgettable experience. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a paradise retreat near Manuel Antonio.
- Divya (6/5): Sub par stay at a '4-star' hotel - Not a 4 star hotel. Several other hotels in the area that were offered at lower price that we should have probably gone for. The view from the restaurant is nice. The breakfast is sub par. Lizards and bugs in the room. The toilet with the mesh door is really inconvenient and leaves for unwanted smells in bedroom.
- Linda (10/5): Issimos - Very nice property in the jungle. The staff was excellent and the accommodations very nice
- Homayoon (8/5): - Amazing setting with room and other areas overlooking above jungles to the ocean. Food service was good but limited/repetitive. Smaller pool probably okay for a boutique hotel of this size. Surprised our suite did not have any comfortable sitting area inside, but three beds instead.
- william (10/5): - The vista is fantastic as are the people who work there.
- Jeffrey (10/5): - Stayed 2/27 through 3/1.
So Ill say thay having left a luxury resort in La Fortuna to come here was an experience.
This is a boutique hotel, it is important to keep this in mind and understand that it is not a luxury super resort.
What this hotel lacks in modern and luxury accommodations, it more than makes up for in its tranquil location, proximity to wildlife and incredible views.
Check in was super easy and Gustavo gave us a welcome drink and showed us to our room.
Dinner the first night was fantastic, and there is a good drink variety.
Breakfast. Ill be honest, dont have high expectations. The first breakfast was sausage (hot dog) and ham (a slice of ham). Eggs were great and juices and fruit fantastic.
Our room. The bed was VERY firm. Cold AC, fully stocked fridge. Im comfortable around my wife but the shower is completely exposed, facing the bed. I didnt like that. Had an enclosed toilet but no ventilation.
Endless wildlife, monkeys, macaws, etc from your balcony. Tons of restaurants and things to do in walking distance, or for $4 cab ride of you dont like the heat. Overall 5/5 but Im only allowed 1500 characters on this app.
- Colleen Alice (10/5): - We had such a wonderful time. The staff were so helpful and friendly. All of the amenities were fantastic. Everything was just great!
- Bryan (10/5): - There is a new chef and the food is amazing. Great value and amazing views.
- Wojciech (10/5): - Bed mattress in my room was not good . Service excellent views spectacular
- Nancy (10/5): - The view from our room was spectacular! So beautiful! The service was outstanding! Geiner gave us incredible service. Julia took care of us for breakfast which was outstanding. Eddy, Jorge Luis, Jonathan & Manuel were outstanding Chefs. Ana & Monica gave us incredible massages. Francisco arranged our tours. He and Ivania, Randall & Gustavo gave outstanding service too! It was relaxing, delicious, romantic and beautiful!!
- Nathalie (10/5): - The staff Randell and Julia made our stay so enjoyable. Watching the wild life was very special from our balcony and from the pool. The pool is really wonderful… great food too!!! Totally enjoyed our stay there. Thank you!!!!
- Kaeside (8/5): - Property was very good but not excellent. Water shut off for some hours and internet was out. The server at the restaurant was really good
- Lindsey A (10/5): - Beautiful property! Hynes and julia were both a pleasure!
- Steven (10/5): We Love this place. - This was our fourth or fifth time at Issimo. This particular trip was for out 10th wedding anniversary. I proposed at this hotel, so we wanted to return. Issimo never disappoints.
- Dale (10/5): A few days in Quepos! - Being October, this was the slow season! They made sure we didn’t want for anything! Food was great. We caught mahi mahi fishing and they prepared it for us awesomely!! The rooms look out into jungle so we could see lots of birds and monkeys. The balcony is really nice for watching the wildlife!
- Yicel Ramirez (10/5): - The restaurant staff is absolutely incredible and friendly and the chef's food is delicious! It was the best food we had during our stay.
The views from the property are amazing. Here you will be able to see monkeys, toucans etc. There is a beach not to far from the hotel. The shuttle is a bit limited, it takes you to the entry of the beach (it is accessed by walking through a short trail) and the main street which you then also have to walk towards restaurants. Walking down to Manuel Antonio Park is doable but requires walking about 45 minutes up and down steep hills. Really our enjoyed our stay and would come back
- Willard (10/5): - The entire staff was amazing. From check-in to check-out we were treated with respect and honor. They bent over backwards to take care of ALL our needs. When asked to assist us, their response was NEVER, "we will check on it." It was ALWAYS, we will have it for you in short order. Amazing Hotel. The wife had a massage and said it was the BEST she had ever received. This hotel is for those who want to be treated like a ROYAL.
- Adam (10/5): - This was a spectacular hotel -- small, with excellent service, panoramas on trees where monkeys, dozens of types of birds, and iguanas are visible.
- Alixandra (10/5): - We love Issimo, this is our second time here. The hotel is intimate and relaxing, not a place to go to party. Happy hour was nice as they’ve added live music around the pool.
- Kelsey (10/5): - Everything was excellent. Great customer service, the staff was very friendly and helpful. They booked all our tours and transportation. Beautiful views from the property, and private beach accsess. Would definitely come back again.
- Gregory (10/5): - Very nice people, room and hotel. A lot of character. It is pretty much in the jungle - quiet and interesting. The road in is very steep in places making it almost impossible to walk anywhere.
- Lyn Marie (10/5): - I liked having the breakfast each morning at the outdoor restaurant and seeing the wildlife, from monkeys, iguanas, racoons, toucans, parrots, and many colorful birds. Some birds were building nests very close and it was nice and relaxing to watch. Also, i walked to the beach a few times, whoch is nearby.
- Tony (10/5): The Best - Hated to leave. This is an amazing place. We had a visitor our second day. Monkey invited himself in from the balcony. Late afternoon show every day. Scarlet Macaws , smaller parrots, toucans and monkeys. And the folks at this place are great! Excellent restaurant. Can’t say enough good things about our stay here.
- Omar (4/5): - We stayed 4 nights here. From the first moment we walked in the room we noticed there was a lot of ants in the room. Told the staff and they sprayed the room but didn’t make a difference. There are holes in the wall and ants were crawling out of the holes. The towels they would give us had ants on them. We had to end up getting our own towels. We never used the bathtub cause we would always find ants crawling around. We ended up leaving a day early cause of this and they wouldn’t refund us for that last day either. For how much it cost it is definitely not worth it.
- Mary (8/5): - Beautiful view.
- Jean-Lou (6/5): - Great view but room getting old for the price point
- Jared (10/5): - What a beautiful setting in Quepos. The views from the room, pool, and dining area were perfect. It was quiet, well-kept, and very accommodating. The staff was friendly, we especially enjoyed Julia in the morning at breakfast.
First time in Quepos and we learned that, on the whole, it is difficult to get around but Issimo was helpful in getting us cars when needed. Also, from the looks of the town getting to the beaches doesn't always seem easy. Issimo had two, small beaches close by. The "difficult" hike mentioned on the website was perfect. Neither one of us is perfectly fit but by no means are we out of shape. The hike through the jungle was just perfect. I could imagine if you are out of shape it would be difficult, but you also don't need to be perfectly fit to make it. The quiet, peacefulness of that beach was worth it!
We realized that we aren't big fans of the open floor concept of the rooms, not having closed bathrooms could pose a challenge for some couples but we made it work. The hot tub was nice, though it did not get "hot" just warm. Which was fine for the climate!
- Simon (10/5): Great hotel - Relaxing. excellent facilities. We enjoyed our stay
- Jenell (10/5): - The stuff was amazing they treated us like royalty. Everyone was so personal thank you. My room had an amazing view.
- Tammy (10/5): Amazing place - We stayed here for the last leg of our anniversary trip through Costa Rica and this was by far our favorite stop, all rooms have an amazing ocean view, with wildlife right off the balcony, the staff were great, they were friendly and accommodating very good breakfast included, mini bar in rooms, dinner was a little pricy compared to other places we ate but food was good and the sunset view over the view with dinner was stunning, would absolutely stay here again in a heart beat
- Ivanna (8/5): - The staff here are so friendly and welcoming.
We loved the breakfast. This hotel has access to a nice private beach that you can reach by taking a trail. I would recommend Issimo Suites!
Thank you.
- Boleslaw (10/5): - Beautiful landscape
- Kelly Theresa (10/5): - What a great place to stay in the Manuel Antonio area of Costa Rica. We went on our honeymoon and had the best time. The staff (shout out to Randal and Julia!) we’re so amazing and really helped us out the whole trip. They have an amazing Spa room and we received the best couples massage we ever had. The food at the hotel is delicious and we liked everything that we ordered. And lastly, the VIEW is out of this world. Issimo Suites is truly paradise.
- Emiliano (10/5): - Great place, amazing views, lovely staff, food was delicious and overall location is awesome, would stay again for sure.
- Kyle (10/5): - Beautiful views and friendly staff!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Everything was amazing! - Every single thing was better than we expected! When we checked in everyone was so helpful and friendly which made us feel super welcomed. The honeymoon suite was so beautiful with the best view for the sunset, it was the perfect spot to come back to and relax after a long day. Everything was super clean in the room as well. Dinners were amazing here! The food was great and they were able to make accommodations if we wanted to change anything. Our server Randall was with us all 4 nights we were there and he was awesome! So nice and friendly, we looked forward to seeing him every night. 10/10 stay we would recommend this place to everyone.
- Katrina (10/5): - The hotel is beautiful, we saw many animals from the comfort of our balcony. The staff was extremely helpful and made our trip very special!
- Andreia (10/5): - Amazing staff, and the food was delicious and full of flavour!
- Anna (10/5): - The beautiful penthouse suite with the jacuzzi, huge bed and view of the Pacific and the rainforest. The personalized service, especially the adaptation of the menu items for my intolerances (gluten, lactose, nightshades). The incredible massages by Lucie, both the deep tissue on the first day and the swedish style of the last. The proximity to Biesanz beach, with its white sand and turquoise calm waters. Small is beautiful is the motto at Issimo, with its 13 rooms, and while some of the bigger places I saw felt like ghost resorts, the vibe here was nice, making me feel right at home. Muchas gracias por su hospitalidad.
Although my stay was almost perfect, I think the challenges related to COVID19 and the rainy season made it such that the food in the restaurant was less delicious than it might have been in busier times. This being said, some dishes were truly excellent, especially the fresh seafood and fish dishes and the staff made a huge effort to adapt the menu to my food intolerances. I did find however that most of the dishes were overpriced.
- James C (8/5): - The staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. Delicious food. The view from the pool, dining area and our room was magnificent. I look forward to coming here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel and staff were great!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I loved this property. I came to Manuel Antonio on my own for a couple days and this was the perfect place. The staff was so friendly and helpful. I was always greeted with a smile by the front desk, the restaurant workers, even the gentleman who gave me a golf cart ride to the beach. My room was so perfect that I turned down the upgrade to a bigger room. I look forward to visiting again! Pura Vida!
- Jung (10/5): Awesome stay with awesome service - Amazing service and location. Super clean and awesome location with walking distance to the beach. If the hill is a bit too steep, they also provide golf cart rides to and from. They also have a great restaurant which is very reasonably priced with great food.
- Vanessa (10/5): Great location and service - Great place. The personnel were very nice all the time. Good security. Breakfast was delicious and the room was very spacious.
- Eduardo (10/5): Muy Recomendado - El lugar es espectacular... la vista, el restaurante, las personas.... =O)
- Myah (10/5): Great place! Unique rooms. Friendly staff - We booked a room mainly for the jacuzzi tub but were very happy with the place in general. The service was great. Oscar was very informative and helpful. Views were amazing. Saw a monkey poolside, staff said you’re most likely to see one poolside around breakfast time. The only cons were that the restaurant was very expensive and the wifi was poor. But overall we were pleased with our stay. Would book again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This boutique was absolutely incredible! Any hotel can give you great views, but this one had excellent service, food, and amenities as well! We were there for a week and ate several other places, but actually liked the food in the hotel better so we ate there most often. Free parking onsite, a golf cart with driver (free) to take you to the beach or into town, and they arrange all tours and even arranged my covid tests for me! Truly, the service is what sets this hotel apart and makes it a five star experience. Oscar (server) is absolutely incredible and is a key reason why we plan to return next year. This hotel would not have been the same without him!!! Definitely recommend!
- Tim (10/5): Stay at Issimo Suites. - Excellent stay. Beautiful location and great friendly service.
- Kevin (10/5): - A great hotel in the middle of Manuel Antonio but away from the hectic center. The staff was amazing and everyone was so friendly. They even drive you down to the local beach in a golf cart if you need. We saw some monkeys swinging in the trees and a bunch of different birds on our balcony. The room had a view overlooking the Pacific and we also had a hot tub. The only downside was that the wifi kept cutting out. We would definitely stay here again if we came back to Manuel Antonio!
- Clive (10/5): Excellent service - Excellent location, Staff amazing. Room a little tired but good amenities throughout
- Verified traveler (10/5): - customer service was the best ever, employees were so polity and helpful, it was our best time ever
- Verified traveler (10/5): - My girlfriend and I had an amazing time at this adults only resort! The staff were very kind and happy to communicate in both Spanish and English, and call us taxis or bring us to the beach. Restaurant is delicious - Italian with local fresh and imported gourmet ingredients.
The views from the cliff here are INCREDIBLE - they also upgraded us to the Presidential Suite which was much appreciated!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Toucans, monkeys, and sloth in front of our room. Excellent food.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful location. Very close to all fun stuff in Manuel Antonio
