- smith (9/5): Excellent accommodation - The food and service was excellent It may be me, but the bathroom had a strange smell
- Ann (6/5): - Room was clean and comfortable The breakfast was awful. Beans cold and tasted of vinegar.Asked for warm ones and still were awful. Bacon partially cooked , hash brown sogg. Only managed half a cup of coffee from coffee machine and that was 8.15 am.
- Ian (10/5): -
- Picot (10/5): Excellent! - Friendly Nothing
- Jessie (10/5): -
- Nora (7/5): Warm clean and did the job as we had travelled from tynemouth to see our favourite band - Clean and warm Needed gd overhaul paper hanging off and a bit scruffy looking
We went to see our favourite band and the table system was rubbish so ended up without seats
Also food middle of the road
- Chris (7/5): - Very comfortable room. Extremely helpful staff. Originally booked twin bed room. This was stated on booking form. Then had 3 emails asking whether we could state whether we wanted twin or single king size bed. 3 times replied with twins however on arrival had single double ! Staff did offer us seperate rooms but we were ok with double. It appeared that there was an issue with the booking service.
- Peter (10/5): Best stay in Brampton - All the staff are just so helpful and attentive. We had a fantastic stay. The hotel is so lovely and clean considering it allows dogs made it perfect for us. To be able to take our little dog and not leave her with family.
The food was great, so happy to have the proper Steak pie.
Would we stay again... Definitely
Thank you all so much. No steak pie on the first night but having it on the second made up for that.
Nothing else to report here.
- Declan (10/5): Great experience, staff very friendly and helpful- will definitely book again - Breakfast was perfect, really well cooked and not rushed. That I didn’t book for longer!
- Sue (10/5): Very enjoyable stay - We had breakfast on the second morning of our 2 night stay. It was lovely. We have had drinks in this hotel previously but not stayed over night, The room was very clean, the bed was very comfortable.
All the staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend the Howard arms. The cosy fire in the bar was most welcome There was nothing that we didn't like about our stay. Probably parking as there is no private car park attached to the hotel.
This was not a problem for us as lots of spaces outside the Howard arms.
- Simon (9/5): -
- Michael (10/5): - The room was gorgeous and spacious. Very clean and comfortable. Trying to get back in after hours,
- Elizabeth (9/5): - Friendly welcome
- Lesley (9/5): Comfortable stay in a lovely hotel - Lovely room, clean and well decorated. Easy to find and good parking. Perfect breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff. Nothing, everything was good.
- Jessie (8/5): - Dog freindly service at dinner rather slow
- GAIL (9/5): Forward Thinking - The staff are all friendly polite people. The food was good. Could do with some pasta on in my opinion with lactose free option and maybe smaller portions for smaller eaters. Overall love The Howard Arms . Nothing just would like lactose free option as you have gluten free option on. Keep thinking forward
- John (9/5): Lovely place good staff food was good too - Location Nothing
- Phil (9/5): -
- Lamming (8/5): Expected level of Survive. - the Room I stayed in was reasonable.

Would stay again. Happy to recommend. Nothing not to like.
- Pamela (9/5): Enjoyable and comfortable stay - Comfortable bed with great bedding and pillows Room only had small window and was quite dark
- Greg (9/5): Really welcoming, comfortable rooms, full of character. - The location is great, right in the centre of town. The pub is lovely, and clearly one of the focal points of town. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff were lovely, and really made us welcome.
- Fraser (8/5): -
- Phil (9/5): -
- W.J. (9/5): - Hele fijne en vriendelijke ontvangst, prima kamer en een uitstekend ontbijt.
- Craig (8/5): Lovely stay would come back - Very nice traditional pub. Rooms were nice, Tiny Tim was a huge room. Menu had loads of festive related items on it, think the normal menu would have been really good. Breakfast was served from 8am which was too late for us.
- Nicholas (9/5): - Nice room, great restaurant. Would have liked better ventilation.
- Alison (7/5): -
- Anne Marie (10/5): An excellent place to stop over and the location for us is brilliant. - The breakfast was huge. There was so much that neither of us could finish the cooked breakfast.
The location is ideal for us,we traveled from Manchester to Glasgow on the Friday morning, stopping off at Brampton on the Friday night before continuing to Newcastle and then back home on the Saturday afternoon. It’s a very busy place, and it can be noisy but you are given ear plugs if it bothers you.
Certainly neither of us needed them.
- Joanne (10/5): A big recommendation to anyone thinking of stopping over . - The atmosphere of the place is great .The staff are well trained and professional even though they are young , that is down to the owners who are super efficient and welcoming. There is nothing I can say that I dislike, I have stayed numerous times throughout the years and can honestly say that say that it’s get better and better.
- Edward (10/5): -
- Ann (8/5): -
- Rory (10/5): -
- Susan (9/5): - Lovely town, nice to watch the locals pop in for a warm drink on a cold day. It was a very chilly morning, so as customers entered a freezing wind kept the dining area cold. Can't stop the wind blowing. Much better once the fire was lit. Tourist!!! Wasn't dressed warmly enough 😉
- Leonardus (9/5): - Arriving past midnight due to a cancelled flight, the staff was so kind to stay late to welcome me.
I also had dinner on one night close to the fire place. This is highly recommended when you're staying in the winter period.
- Neil (9/5): Specifically booked twin beds on booking and as an additional request. Room on arrival was double - Everything but didn't agree the answers to the quiz!!! Little
- Coull (8/5): - Staff very pleasant and welcoming, food really nice, Christmas decorations were fabulous 👌
- Michelle (10/5): Best Pub In Brampton IYKYK - Very central location. Warm and welcoming when you went inside, roaring fire, and extremely dog friendly. Well stocked bar, with a large variety of lagers, Ales and spirits. Very friendly staff. Ruth, the owner took us to our room, it was very comfortable, clean and cosy N/A
- Lee (10/5): Great staff, location and food - Staff are amazing. Lovely food and location perfect for local walks Locked doors at night when you’re not told what time you can get back in.
- Nick (8/5): -
- smith (8/5): Overall a pleasant stay - Bedroom very comfortable. Bathroom clean and a very good shower Breakfast could have been better presented. We had to ask for basic things such as a menu
- Vicki (9/5): A gem of a place to stay especially if travelling with a dog. Staff were awesome. Great food. - Food was fantastic. Loved all of the dog inclusions; blankets, bowls, treats, doggy bar, just awesome! Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Loved our stay. Great theme for the rooms too. Cozy bar and restaurant area. Right in the middle of the town.
- Petra (9/5): - I had a great stay at this Inn. I'ts everything you expect from a traditional Inn. It smells of wood fire and Christmas. Staff is very friendly, great service, big luxurious rooms. And a lot of attention for little details. I think they really are the best inn in Brampton -
- Peter Timothy (9/5): A perfect half way stop over when driving North to South - The welcome, a very helpful young lady, she took a heavy bag to our room saving me the stairs a second time. Evening meal in the bar was very nicely presented , a home made pie with fresh vegetables . Staff here were also very attentive. Large bed was very comfortable. Breakfast included, good value. En-suite bathroom was a little too compact for me, but clean and had all you need.
- Joanne (7/5): Nice place but not for us - Nice old building room kept clean and warm Very busy and loud when having evening meal people standing over you waiting for a table. No where to sit and have a drink after dinner.
Music from a party was loud and went on till 12am .
- Jean (9/5): - The room was lovely, and the bathroom was very good, good-sized shower and very clean. And location was ideal. The bed was not very comfy, even with a mattress topper on
- William (9/5): The main purpose of my visit was to look round the area in view of moving to the area. It’s a beautiful area and the fac - The staff were friendly and extremely helpful.
- Warren J (9/5): -
- Davidson (10/5): Great - Very friendly Central location
- Tim Smith (9/5): - Staff were very helpful and efficient. Nothing. I would use this accommodation again.
- Tim Smith (9/5): -
- Walther (9/5): - very friendly staff, good room, bit small restroom. Very good pub below with good food and nice fireplaces. parking infront. Nothing, real pub experience
- RICHARD (8/5): Nice pub accommodation in a prime location near the Hadrian's Wall Path. - We were walking Hadrian's Wall Path. The Howard Arms is in key location for walkers or visitors so they must get many visitors who are there for the Wall. It was a wet day and we walked the 2.5 miles down the main road to the pub. The room and shower were warm so that was very welcome. We ate in the pub that night and had a big breakfast in the morning before heading back up to pick up where we left off at the Wall. The pub sell toiletries and other necessities which are useful for walkers - good idea. The bar area is nice. Some locals were in too, as well as visitors. The open fires were very nice. The staff seemed busy and not as chatty as other places where we have stayed. The main course was alright but paying £8.95 for the Heritage Beetroot & Feta starter (few rocket leaves, tiny slices of beetroot and a sprinkling of feta) was disappointing. I think The Howard arms is very successful/lucrative and in a prime location. That is the business model. You sense that. If they could just tweak the food menu so that the food matches the description then I would have rated the pub higher. Also, a bit of training on customer relations - "how are you? How was your walk/day etc..."
- Richard (8/5): Restful and enjoyable - Lovely location good food nice atmosphere Nothing I can think of
- Teresa (10/5): If you don't visit the Howard Arms you are missing out! - The whole stay and experience was the best. This was our second visit and it luckily coincided with Meat Loaf tribute act. Cannot fault anything, food was excellent, staff were lovely.
We will be back! It was all good, no complaints.
- Anne Marie (8/5): Fantastic village and as the Wi-Fi code says it is the best pub in the village - The breakfast and the dinner were excellent. The room was lovely but really noisy although we were given earplugs. The roadworks outside of the hotel made it very difficult to get to
It would have been very helpful if we had been given some warning and how to get around them
We spent 20 minutes driving around trying to find away in
We were told well we it is on our Facebook page but unfortunately we don’t do Facebook
- Bradley (10/5): - Attentive staff and very nice room.
- beadle (5/5): - Busy pub/restaurant, efficient staff Overpriced for small room over the street. Noisy from the street. Substantial building work underway without any compensation. Functional but basic ensuite.
- simon (8/5): Attractive hotel centrally location in busy viallge, recommended - Great location, friendly staff, good value food and drink.
- Eddie (8/5): Very nice stay and would recommend, although breakfast could have beeen better. - Lovely looking building and great Location. Nice big room and attentive friendly service. Superb overall evening experience: Good food, drink (including great decaf coffee) and excellent atmosphere (including live entertainment). Room very clean and bed very comfortable. Breakfast experience was at best only ok: Set up not very inviting, and cleaning in progress during meal. Food ok but limited choice: No smoked salmon or kipper options. Room lighting poor. Shower controls could be in a better place (need to be in shower to operate controls). No onsite parking (although free parking nearby eventually found)
- Anna (8/5): -
- Conrad-Marlet (8/5): -
- Ian (8/5): Nice place. - Clean. Comfortable. Decor was a bit tired. Wallpaper peeled away from the ceilings. Windows in real need of a repaint..
- Jane (7/5): Nice stopover on way south. - Location. Very dog friendly which was great. Quite costly but nice place
- James (10/5): -
- Steven (10/5): - Great staff, nice food, lovely room, shops if you need anything. Nothing not to like. Would stay again for sure
- AY East Lothian (8/5): -
- Andrea (9/5): -
- David (9/5): First class welcome food and drink. A gem! - All the food was stunning and piping hot Car parking is a bit hit and miss
- Matthew (9/5): - We had a lovely view from our room! The pub itself was very cozy, and had great food and drink. The room itself felt very fresh. Nothing much! The pub was very busy on the Friday we arrived, so make sure to reserve a table if you are staying here on this day!
- Jan (10/5): prima - zeer goed niets
- MRF36 (6/5): - Helpful staff, good food Room a little small, wash basin plug faulty so wouldn't hold water.
- Shaun (8/5): -
- Hugh (8/5): Great food and beer with friendly staff - Good food and beer. Friendly staff. Clean room, though shower room rather tired with paint off the wall. When we arrived there was only 1 towel, 1 mug, one set of biscuits etc - but staff quickly remedied the situation and provided facilities for 2 people.
A parking disc was needed in the square but staff didn’t tell us about it on arrival - the information was in the room booklet. One staff member didn’t know how we could get a disc, another did and quickly provided one for us.
Other than those errors - all fine. Just irritating after a long journey.
- Garry (9/5): -
- Colin (8/5): -

- Andrea (10/5): - Gemütliche und saubere Zummer mit kleinen liebevollen Details, gute Betten.
