• Naoki (8/5): 朝食にこころを込めて！！ - 朝食付きで2泊しました。少し古さは感じましたが全体的には満足でした。温泉も大変快適でした。ただし朝食はだめでした。一人当たり一泊2000円の朝食ですから、朝食としては安くはありません。コロナの影響でしょうがすべてが小鉢のバイキング形式の料理になっていました。問題はその内容です。ごく普通の、小鉢料理でわざわざ高価な旅館に泊まったものでは全くありませんでした、それも2泊とも全く同じ内容正直歴史ある旅館の内容ではありません。翌日泊まった益田のビジネスホテルの朝食のほうがおもてなしのある食事でした。コロナの状況下である食事で苦労されていることはわかりますが、でこれでは再訪して泊まりたいとは思いません。夕食はどんな内容かはわかりませんが、朝食から想像するにほとんど期待できません。一度朝食の内容をご検討されてはと思います。今一度思い出してもほんとに工夫も感動もない食事でした。残念です。

• Sarichan (10/5): One of my most favorite hotels! - I had a twin-bedded room for a single use. The room was large and very tidy and beautiful. But the thing which impressed me most was the Onsen with so many colorful agate stones!! The big baths are not only very relaxing but also beautiful and amazing... You must just try. The hotel is very close to several tourist sites and it also offers pick-ups and drives to the Tamatsukuri station for free.

• hitohase (6/5): Huge size, OK - The hotel locates at the end of the main road of Tamatsukuri, looks quite old but huge. Food is ok, the public bath was made by many kinds of beautiful stones, its worth to see it. When we go there, not so many customers so we enjoyed huge bath for our own! ;) Price is ok, they say coffee and tea are free on the lobby but the working hour is quite short!

• Steven (10/5): AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL - What can I say about the STAFF and HOTEL (ryokan) experience that I had at the Tamatsukuri Choseikaku Grand Hotel?? All I can say was AMAZING. I arrived prior to the check-in time, as my train schedule was fairly rigid this day. The wonderful staff had no issues in storing my backpack in their storage area until the official time I could check in. This allowed me to explore the area of Tamatsukuri, which is a fabled, old, traditional onsen area of Northern Japan. It is well located between Isumoshi and Matsue cities, and near the magnificent Lake Aishi. It is a quiet onsen town, with many older ryokans located along the small stream which is water that bubbles up heated near the ryokans. The general location is ideal for a quiet, reflective and peaceful stay. Exactly what I was looking for after 4 frantic days in the Tokyo/Chiba region. I loved watching the other guests from the 6 or 7 ryokans (including the one I stayed in) walk up and down the small stream's sidwalks in their Yukatas. The Grand Hotel is just a bit "dated", BUT is that a "bad thing" for a fabled ryokan?? NO! It adds to its charm, in my opinion. The onsen area of the hotel is wonderful, and the room was impeccably clean and well maintained. But, as usual, it was the STAFF at the Hotel that made the experience perfect for me. In particular, the acting manager of the hotel literally RAN around to assist me in any and all of my needs. He and his staff are SIMPLY THE BEST IN JAPAN.
• Elena (10/5): Beautifully traditional onsen hotel - We had an amazing time here. Staff was unbelievably accommodating and helpful. The onsens were great. These are multiple pools onsen, one of each ( men, women) is outdoors. And as you get out there's a wide range of pampering products to try. The breakfast was beautiful and you can choose between Japanese cuisine and European. And there is a shuttle service to the train station. Do I have to keep going?
• LunaL203 (10/5): a wonderful stay - This hotel is such a great way to experience Japanese culture while being pampered. The hotel workers are very nice and assistance in English is available. If you pay an extra 500yen or so the hotel offers an assortment of colorful yukatas for females, which is quite fun. The onsens are open very late so you can literally go and relax in an onsen at 1pm or later, if you'd like. The rooms are very spacious. If you stay here I would advise you to eat in. They bring your dinner to your room, course by course. The food is authentic, traditional Japanese food. If you walk down to the river that is in front of the hotel you can dip your feet in footbaths fed by the natural hot spring that feeds the onsens of the area. It is said that the hot spring that feeds the Tamatsukuri area is the "Hot Spring of the Gods" and bathing once in it's waters will make you more beautiful; bathing twice will cure all your sickness and diseases (Izumo guide pamphlet).
• HongAnD (10/5): The oldest recorded Onsen town in Japan - Tamatsukuri onsen is one of the oldest onsen (spa) in Japan. It lays off the beaten path but well worth the travel. Choseikaku onsen is a beautiful hotel with excellent service. The Onsen has a garden which is a replica of the famous garden at the Adachi Museum. The rooms are lined with Tatami mats giving it that traditional Japanese feel. Enjoy the town and explore the little souvenir shops. Walk along the river and dip your toes into the different foot onsens. When you get back to your room, you'll be surprised to see dinner set out. Dinner is served in the room and is a ceremony in itself. Our meal had 7 courses of delicious traditional Japanese food and regional specialties. After dinner take a bath in the onsen, unwind and relax in the different baths. When you get back, you'll find your bed set out and ready for you. If you really enjoyed the bath and would like to go more than once, they stay open all day and night, except from 2-3AM when they change the baths. They want everyone to experience both the 1st floor and 2nd floor baths so they change the men's and women's bath areas in the night. The choseikaku staff were very attentive to our every need. They had english speakers who patiently explained everything from amenities to food. They did their best to make us comfortable.
• jaspa33 (10/5): Treated very well - We came here as one of our stops on a honeymoon and arrived late (9 pm) due to taking too many stops on the train and getting sidetracked. We were surprised, especially since this is off the beaten path for Americans that 1) the manager (we think he was a manager) spoke English well and 2) he had arranged a private dinner served by a beautiful host "Mami", dressed in traditional japanese kimono, served our dinner with elegant hospitality. They waited for us to arrive and we instantly felt bad realizing they had prepared our meal with the intention of an earlier arrival. Mami was very sweet and our late meal was excellent. The grounds are large and nice, and had we arrived earlier, we would've visited the onsen which is supposed to be the attraction. However, we opted for massages in the room and went to bed. In the morning, we watched the staff (including Mami) practice for a traditional drum ceremony. This was one of our memorable experiences in Japan, and we thank the staff for their hospitality.
