- Tegan (10/5): - Amazing hosts!!! They were the kindest people:) there was a shop downstairs which was fab and very reasonable. Really lovely communal area looking over the mountains. Nice quiet neighbourhood

- Adelina (9/5): Todo estaba bien - Los colchones eran muy confortables To
- Adelina (10/5): "1Like at home" - Como en casa ,todo correcto ,muy bien organizado por una pareja No hubo nada ,,,que no me gustara.

ドミトリールームは清潔で、バスタオルもくれました。

- Filip (9/5): Väldigt välkomnande, snälla och hjälpsamma. Mycket bra dubbelrum!
- Alexandra (3/5): - I booked a female dormitory and they put me in a mixed one and did nothing about it. The hostel was really dirty everywhere. Toilets and showers disappointing and dirty. Bed had some hair on it from previous customer I suppose. It it wasn't for the holiday of Loy Kratang and everything was fully booked, I would definitely not stay in this hostel. Don't recommend.
- Darren Jin Hao (3/5): -
- Karran (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shani (5/5): Photos extremely deceiving - The dorms were clean and the host was nice The bathroom was really dirty, it was basically outside (like a pool bathroom) and it had cameras. Nothing like the photos. Also the 4 ppl dorms were actually 8.
- Alexander (10/5): Exceptional - Very comfortable place in a great location. The family that run the place could not have been more accommodating and kind.
- Chin (9/5): I had a great stay! - We arrived Chiang Mai at 6am in the morning, planned to store luggages at Urban Bed and come back later in the afternoon for check-in. To our pleasant surprise, the room was ready and we were allowed to check in at 7am, at no extra fee or charges. We stayed in the private room and can only speak for this room. The room is spacious and comfortable, fulfilling all our needs. Located in quiet alley of the old town, easy to get food and bike rental shops are close by, very convenient location. I had a great stay! The tap water is yellowish. Can be improved by installing a water filter or similar improvements.
- Annika (4/5): So overall I wouldn’t recommend to stay here but when you are not picky with hygiene, private space and comfort I think - The lady and her husband are very welcoming and friendly and try to make your stay good So first of all the beds are pretty hard, there is a plastic case around the mattress and you get fleece blankets. The room is a 16 person bedroom which gets pretty loud nearly all the time and besides that it is on the ground floor and you can hear everything from the common area. The staff can’t speak english and the bathrooms are 4 showers and 3 sinks for over 20 people if the room is booked out. There is no possibility to store your stuff in the bathroom and one day the water was brown all evening long so that we couldn’t shower. The bathrooms are not clean at all and in a bad condition (old) there is mud on the floor and the toilets are so narrow that I hit my head pretty bad at the doorknob. There is no soap for washing hands and there are no locks for the doors (also the front door in the night). Because the door to the dorm is directly to the outside there are mosquitos in the room and you need to sleep with mosquito repellent. You only get one small locker where you can just fit a small back bag even though 2 people had a big locker under the bed (don’t know why it is like that).
- Máša (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maryana (9/5): My second stay, felt again very welcome and at home. - Lovely owners. Very nice terrace with nature view where you can do some yoga, relax, read, contemplate or even do some work in the tables. Nice refuge in the old town.
- Dalton (5/5): Very budget friendly, could use improvements - The staff were really nice and it’s definitely a budget hostel. I booked a female dorm and was given a mixed room. Also there are no locks on the doors so it doesn’t feel the safest. But it was fine for one night
- Martynas (8/5): Very good -
- Rotem (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kilian (8/5): Very good -
- Vitor (7/5): Super worth it staying at Urban Bed to relax in Chiang Mai! - Its very well-located close to the local restaurants and markets. The bedroom is confortable and outside there is a meditation corner so lovely!
The energy is very good and got me very relaxed and happy! I just missed having access to a kitchen for having proper meals.
- Rafael (8/5): My stay in chiange mai - Large open room. Lovely host. Very friendly warm and accommodating. Spacious communal area good location. TV didn't work.
- Elena (3/5): Not the best experience - Dirty bathroom, mirrors, sink, like no one care. There is no toilet paper in restrooms.
I don’t know who all those people who reviewed like “the best hostel I have ever visited in CM” cause I have chosen that place only because of them. probably, they really didn’t visit very nice, clean places in CM. I even didn’t want to take shower there. The bed is also not comfortable.
You can try, but I wouldn’t stay there next time
- Patrick (8/5): Very good -
- Emma (9/5): Excellent and affordable accommodation in Chiang Mai - Staff were very friendly and hospitable. Great location and clean and spacious room
- Nicola (10/5): Exceptional - big comfy beds
big rooms
walking distance from a night market missing a bit of extra light in the toilets
the rooms and the door has no lock so technically enyone could enter making the whole property not the safest. however, nothing happened
- Anne (8/5): Very good - I just loved the couple, although I think she should use her phone with google translate. She really took care of me and made me feel loved, such a sweetheart. Also it would be good if they have signs in English and Chinese so no misunderstandings would happen. Not clean in the toilets and showers.. Blanket without covers. The material in the bed was awful. It is very basic and the price should not be more than 180 TBH.
- Giuseppe (9/5): Nice cosy place - Great place, good atmosfere little cold in the night, maybe a second blanket would be better, especially in January - February
- Lay (7/5): Good - Try out 1 night due to very good reviews but had a bit of difficult time here. It’s a homestay , the rules are perhaps a bit different from commercial hostel/dormitories and I can’t comprehend host (who spoke very little English) asked me to move to another bed twice in the night and started to move my things when I hesitate. Location is in residential area thus away from mainstreet.
- Maximilian (8/5): Very good - The hosts are extremely friendly!
- Aditya (9/5): Superb -
- Warren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karine (8/5): Very good - The location is wonderful and the staff was so friendly. Cleanliness could be better.
Female room requires fan on.
- Derrick (9/5): Superb - Good burger in the lobby! Showers could be better, one had a broken lock.
- Faye (8/5): Lovely owners, good value for money. - One of the best dorms we stayed in. Curtains for privacy were good. Bathrooms were always clean.
- Magdalena (10/5): Exceptional - The bedroom was very comfortable, private and clean. I had everything I needed for my 3 night stay. The hosts were sweet and welcoming!
- Justine (7/5): Place to stay for a night or two - It’s located in downtown, but in very quiet area. Walkable distances everywhere in downtown. Very nice common area to work or chill out with a view of the mountains. Owners are old Thai couple, doesn’t speak English, but they will try to help you with everything. In reality it doesn’t look like in the pictures, it’s more old. Female dorm room was really dark as it was located on first floor “corner “. Most of the time there was no toilet paper.
- Camila (10/5): If you want to feel like home this is the place! - I usually don’t like super simple places but this one won my heart. It’s cozy, felt so homey, the owners are extremely sweet and loving, and it felt like I was around family. She cooks fresh food by order, the place is super peaceful. I can’t recommend enough!
- Amar (8/5): Very good -
- Louis (7/5): Good -
- M.t.29 (6/5): Pleasant - Quiet stay. Pictures don't do justice to the actual location. Please expect a room in a secluded Thai house. Also the locations in Google are confusing. Please choose 'urban bed' location with all small letters. Another one which comes first at the top is totally at a different location. I had a hard time finding for it.
- Ye (8/5): Very good -
- Nguyenkt08 (7/5): Good - The AC too cool at night, the balanket is thin, and no remote in the room to change the temperature.
The curtain hanger of lower bed is quite short. I'm 1m70 and my head almost touch it. If you're 1m8 or higher, mind your head.
Only me and 1 guest in the 14 beds dorm the day I stayed. Understand why
- Justinas (7/5): Good -
- João (10/5): Great place to stay if you are traveling with your parents! - Great place. I’m traveling with my mother (68yo) and my father (60yo).
They stayed in the private room upstairs and I stayed in the shared room downstairs.
Host very accomodating as we had to do a late check in. Thank you ka!
- Alexandra (10/5): A cozy place to stay in a great location in Chiang Mai! - This is a cozy and comfortable place to stay in a great location in Chiang Mai! The family that runs it is nice and accommodating!
- Dawn (10/5): A wonderful stay I would definitely recommend to others and revisit. - Close to amenities. Clean and quiet. Very kind owners looked after us well. Thank you. No screen on toilet door.
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional -
- Saoirse (8/5): Very good -
- Saoirse (8/5): Lovely couple - Very lovely couple who run the house, gave us everything we needed when we asked, always smiling and made us feel very welcome. Room had everything we could want and was spacious and clean. Although it was clean, we stayed 3 nights and there was no cleaning during that time such as empty bin, change bed etc.
- Julia (8/5): Very good -
- Kyla (9/5): Superb - Hosted by the sweetest old couple in their own home that they reconfigured a few bedrooms to host guest and a little convenient store at the front. I got to experience an authentic Thai life where children drop by to buy sweets and snacks, some of the couple's friends and neighbours came by for afternoon chats too.
They care about the guest, making sure our items are covered during songkran, remade my bed during a 10 days stay, check if we are back or still heading out before locking the gates.
The rooms were very clean, toilet is well kept too. We can get any items we need from their shop at a very reasonable price. There are also a few self service laundry within walking distance and also very reasonably priced, 20 baht. Mosquitoes during hot season, but the couple are ready with any repellant, spray, electrical mosquito machine if you ask.
- Yan (8/5): Very good - The host was hospitable and cute old lady. Very Thai tranditional house. Felt chill on the 2nd floor.
- Jasmin (8/5): Very good -
- Alex (7/5): Sweet Owners. Quiet Quaint Hostel - The best part of the stay was the sweet owners. The husband knew no English but made every effort to smile, laugh, and joke. He was very sweet. The wife is a good business grandma. She treated me like an honored guest, especially when no one was around. She fondly shared the food she prepared for her new year's celebration with me one afternoon.
Eventhough I stayed for a week, this hostel is good for travelers who want peace and quiet, who stay a day or two, or who want this area of Old Town to be their hub. If you are under 35 years old and younger or prefer hostels with more people traffic, then this hostel may not be for you. Many people stopped here before going to Nimman or more lively spots. I enjoyed having only one or two other persons to share the space with for a day or two at a time.
The wifi is good but the there is no room or space to do online work. The upstairs seating area is nice but the wooden chairs were not comfortable over long periods of time. There were plenty of outlets, though. The hostel looks nicer and fancier in the photos than in person. The communal area downstairs looks lived in, like it was an extention of the owner's home versus a part of the hostel. The mattress was a bit uncomfortable, especially when I slept on my side. They toilet stalls and showers were clean enough but could have used a deep clean or touch up. While the owners sprayed or lit coils, the amount of mosquitoes in the hallways (without roofs), near the sinks, stalls, and showers were annoying.
- J (10/5): Exceptional -

- Cynthia (7/5): Good -
- Gill (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (10/5): greeted by the very sweet couple and made feel at home , very beautiful Thai home experience - in a very quiet safe area -
- Misterbas (8/5): Very good -
- Giles (9/5): Easy quiet hostel with all the basics that you need - Great value for money and the dorm was very nice and very clean. Pam (host) cooked some great, cheap food and was more than happy to help with any advice. Although others have complained about her English, I found her easy to talk to.
- Raymond (9/5): Neighborhood BnB - The couple/hosts were very nice. The room/suite could have been more completely furnished.

- Bethany (1/5): Bad customer service - I don't actually know how this hostel was because when I arrived they were overbooked and sent me away without providing any assistance on finding a new place to stay during Chiang Mai's busiest 3 nights of the year when every hostel in town was full. They took down my information to provide a refund but over a month has passed and I still have not gotten my money back even after I have reached out to them and to Booking.com. I'm really frustrated that I am still out the money when not only did I not stay there, but they left me in an incredibly stressful situation as a female solo traveler having to suddenly find a new accommodation for 3 nights. They also did not inform me when they realized they were overbooked, they just waited until I arrived around 6pm - but there were other travelers who were turned away earlier in the day, according to other guests who were actually able to stay there. They could've easily sent me (and the other 7 travelers who were also turned away at the same time) an email informing us when they realized, giving us more time to find a bed before nighttime.
- Alessandro (8/5): Great! - Staff is great and position is central in the city Bathrooms are not the best
- Sabine (9/5): Superb - Lovely owners very sweet people. Good location, clean dorms and cheap price.
Really loved my stay with them!
- Katie (10/5): Great location and staff! - Place to meet people, helpful and friendly staff. Great location.
- Sandra-traveller (8/5): Lovely place in Chiang Mai - Pensi and his husband, despite not talking a lot of English, they made my experience unforgettable. The bunk beds are very comfortable and the space is clean, wide and located in a quiet alley. Love it :)
- Sabine (9/5): Superb - The owners are very very friendly and the help you. The accomodation is clean, beds are good and is near the night market.
I extended my stay with Urban Bed because of the nice atmosphere and friendly travelers but the most important was the owners, they are so nice!
- Leonore (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pauline (10/5): Amazing hostel with great location, clean and amazing owners ❤️ - This cute little hostel is owned by the sweetest Thai couple ❤️ it was hard to leave !
The dorm was always very clean, with AC, curtain on the bed, and towel provided.
Great location, and met some amazing people !
The showers and toilets were always clean and strong pressure shower with hot water, so for the price, it’s really worth it !
I extended my stay for some more days 😍 nothing !
everything was great and owners are the best, big hug to them !

- Avery (8/5): Very good -
- Michal (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was great, the host was super nice and the room was clean and very spacious. Even though we didn't buy the breakfast, we got coffee every morning, which was a pleasant surprise. Location is great, it's close to the park and away from the noise of streets. Nothing really, everything was exceeding our expectations.
- Rich (8/5): Cheap and convenient - Friendly staff and nice layout. Conveniently located in old city. Only recommendation is to include a possible point of contact and doorbell when front desk not visibly present.
