- Timothy (9/5): Splendid - These small Lake District towns often have a 'the only game in town' kind of feeling when it comes to their hotels. If you are following a walking route that hops between tiny towns, there's not much pressure on the owners to make it all that special (this is something we had experienced that night previous). It's in this context that the Crown Inn of Coniston is even more admirable for its exceptionally friendly staff, delicious food and delightful rooms that make your heart melt upon entrance. The shower had the perfect water pressure. the hand soap and shampoo both smelt lovely, and even more so when combined. They do pies properly, they do the Truffle chicken with the most delightful potato fondant, and oh boy do they do desert. Oh my gosh the deserts! A picture of one is attached.
They really line you up with that evening meal, and then knock you down with a gorgeous breakfast the next day that makes you contemplate walking onwards or 'resting your legs' to stay another night. Really just lovely.
- Karen (8/5): Great location for walkers - Beautiful setting, great for walks. Friendly staff and comfortable room. Quite expensive. The breakfast was good but no fresh fruit or choice of pastries etc. Quite a limited menu for the amount paid.
Noisy at night as we overlooked the beer garden.
- Deborah (10/5): -
- PhilipS58 (10/5): Top quality accommodation with an excellent breakfast - The location is central and convenient, both for the lake and for starting several walks. Our room was large, with a king size bed and crisp cotton bedding, both of which were a welcome joy. Kettle, coffee & tea in the room - much appreciated. Breakfast was excellent - generous portions of well-cooked local produce. Wish we'd booked a second night - very highly recommended.

Bed was very comfortable and linens lovely. Blackout curtains great for a restful morning
Breakfast excellent with choices of cereals, yoghurt and fruit together with goid coffee
Meal on the evening also very good and would highly recommend. Staff friendly and helpful Bathroom could do with slight refresh around the bath and provision of a hand rail on wall to assist stepping in would be a good addition

- Hazel (10/5): Enjoyable - Pleasant, thoughtful, friendly and very helpful staff. We had a family room that sleeps 6, one king sized bed, one double, sofa bed and bunk beds. The room was spacious for everyone to move around in, it was clean, warm and very comfortable. The food in the restaurant was amazing too. The hotel was busy which tells me it is a very popular place. The hall lights need a slight adjustment. They are run on sensors, meaning, they will come on when it picks up someone moving, they were a bit slow to react, I found it difficult to see as I moved along the corridor to be in the right position to activate them.
- PerthRaw (4/5): Indifferent food, poor service and very slow bar - Food expensive for what you get, poor service and bad attitude from staff. Our food arrived long before our drinks and when I asked the waitress who brought the food where the drinks were she said there was a “wait” at the bar, the bar had to serve their customers first and walked off. To be fair, when I asked another waitress where our drinks were, when we were halfway through our food, she went to the bar and pulled them herself which was very kind of her. But overall, give it a miss.
- Michele (8/5): -

- Snowbandit (10/5): Lovely Coniston country Inn - Great staff, lovely bedrooms and public rooms all decorated to a high standard with quality fixtures and fittings. Food was great and good value for money, decent wine list with something for every budget. Plenty of off road parking with good sized bays. I highly recommend it and will return. Not applicable

The presentation of the property is fabulous- clean, a great ambience, a good choice of breakfast which was prepared and served quickly
(Nice and hot too!)
- Martina (9/5): - Lovely location. We stayed here while walking the Cumbria way. Room was spacious and comfortable and it had mini fridge, coffee maker and selection of tea/coffee and hot chocolate. All was good. We stayed here in March and the dining area was very warm!
- Susan (10/5): Great little village - The village is small, a few little shops but people really friendly. There is a boating lake near by with walks and beautiful views with a cafe. The crown pub itself is really nice. Lovely and clean, rooms are very good and comfortable, the food is really good. Staff are very friendly and helpful and helped us sort a problem out. Price is a good for the rooms in the pub Nothing really we enjoyed our stay and would book again

- ralphb771 (10/5): Great newly-refurbished lakeland inn! - First visit as part of a men's group who visit the Lakes twice a year for fell walking and good company. Excellent in all departments: room, bar, meals, comfort! Only wish they could make the weather better up top! :)
- Brian (10/5): Very Comfortable and will definitely return - Dinner and Breakfast and service was very good. Room and general décor and facilities were excellent. Nothing really
- Sally (8/5): Great stay in a great location - Excellent location. The room was attractively fitted out and the shower was great. The staff were friendly and the food was good value. The room was very warm with no way of reducing the heat other than opening the window. There was a lot of (radio)noise from the kitchen below on our first evening but I think the room next door complained about it and it stopped!
The gf options were quite limited for breakfast and dinner
- Susan (9/5): -
- Samantha (10/5): - We stayed in a dog-friendly room for 2 nights. The room and bed were very comfortable. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner at the pub. Service and food were great!
- Zoe Friar (8/5): Comfy stay, would recommend - Friendly staff, clean comfortable room, coffee machine was a good upgrade and fresh milk in the fridge, excellent breakfast, allowed us to check in early. Quieter than I expected as other reviews had mentioned the church bells but I didn't hear them. Tea and coffee packets stuffed into sweet jars, it's only a small thing but looked untidy and had to route to find the teabag I wanted. Requested decaf tea but couldn't find any.
- Vanden (8/5): - Comfy bed and lovely staff Lighting near mirrors is quite poor. Would recommend a small magnifying mirror in the bathroom mirror.
- Anita (10/5): Great location for a comfortable short break - Staff were lovely. Food was great, we ate in the restaurant on both nights and prices were very reasonable too. Breakfast was good plenty of choice. Rooms were very clean and well equipped with all you needed. Brilliant shower. Nice cafe in the village we had lunch there. There was no doggy smell anywhere in the hotel or pub even thought it is very dog friendly. Location was brilliant and would definitely stay here again and probably do some of the walks. Nothing. Everyone of the staff were lovely and everything was fab
- Jackie (10/5): Great pub hotel in a great location. - Location was great. The room was clean & spacious. Comfortable bed & great pillows made for a good nights sleep. The pub was really nice & the food was great.
- Darren (9/5): Fabulous location, accommodation and staff service levels… - Location, layout, and the excellent standard of my room. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Nothing too much trouble. Nothing worthy of note.
- Nikita (10/5): Such a beautiful location, excellent stay. - Very cosy, rooms a great size, location was good. Good overall was excellent. Drinks a tiny bit pricey but to be expected given the location and quality this pub/hotel brings. Such a lovely stay and highly recommended. Nothing
- Nick (9/5): -
- Alistair Roberts (10/5): - Ambience, beautiful large room, great food and drink.
- Bryn (10/5): -
- Victoria (7/5): Nice stay. - The theme was great The staff. The lady on booking in was very abrupt and short in manner with us.
- Vixtrix79 (8/5): - Rooms were lovely as usual Food wasn't as good as usual but we were late to eat, saying that 8pm for a kitchen to close is relatively early and the food wasnt as fresh as we would have expected it to be. Felt like it was re-heated and rushed
- Roam17682857054 (10/5): Magical Christmas. - Meet up with family over Christmas. Half way between n Ireland and South England. Perfect. 4 dogs needing good walks every day. Food fantastic. Atmosphere. As the only pub in the village which appeared to be open it was busy yet full of welcoming locals. Rooms are warm, comfy and a nice break from the bar downstairs for an hour or two. A merry Christmas was had by all.
- Clare (8/5): -
- John Mead (9/5): - We stayed in the King room. Great location, great sized room that was really clean and inviting. The pub had a great atmosphere and the staff particularly one gent were absolutely amazing. Despite him being run off his feet he went out of his way to make sure we were looked after. Even letting my wife use his personal phone charger. We ate in the pub and the food was great. The beer selection was great and the breakfast was also great. All in all a great stay and I would definitely recommend this place. N/A
