I'm elderly but luckily can still manage stairs. Offer to take luggage would have been good!

The extensive breakfast selection was of good quality and the hot items were perfectly cooked. The decor in my room was mismatched and, in public areas was a little tired, eg a sofa in the bar area was quite badly stained. A spotlight in my bathroom didn't work.

- Michelle (4/5): Do not stay in this hotel!!!!!!!!!!! - We chose this hotel for its location and it was perfect! The view from our room was beautiful. Where do I start!!!!! The room we were given was beyond description……the carpet was filthy you wiped your feet on the way out! Furniture was very dated and stained!!! The bathroom was disgusting, all around the edge of the bath was broken and then was no soap or toiletries. I have taken photographs and added them,but you cannot smell the smell or see the full effect of the disgusting room. We didn’t even stop in the room I went straight back to reception to complain.The staff throughout the hotel were lovely we could not fault them.They did move us room and as I said the view was amazing. But still very dated. So disappointing. All the corridors have a stale wee smell to them. The only good thing was luckily the bed was comfortable and breakfast was lovely and the dining room was the only room that looked clean!!! I thought the hotel was going to spoil our reason for being in Lincoln but fortunately we looked past it and enjoyed ourselves.

The entry to reception from the car park was not welcoming - rather industrial like The lift is odd, no first floor and not all the buttons seemed to work Evening dining was in the bar area, my lamb was severely over cooked Breakfast buffet was not very hot, coffee machine was broken (both days) The room was rather tired, as was the mattress, probably great in its day but now a little faded, though the view of the cathedral was wonderful. Air con wasn’t working.

- Lynda (5/5): Disappointing for the price - breakfast - first day - dry overcooked hard bacon and sausage and fried egg, told staff member and he said 'I will pass that on'. 3rd day the frozen mixed berry fruit was still frozen. Location fab. bed uncomfortable - small double. lumpy and we rolled into the middle with old mattress. Could not operate broken radiator on wall. Used to have chairs on balcony (they are photographed on their web site - they no longer put chairs out. Very tired decor. we have been going for years and it has not changed. Worn arms on the armchairs. badly chipped bathroom door and flooring lifted and tatty looking. Used to be magazines - hotel info, nice biscuits and water - none of that now. tea/coffe/milk sachets just chucked into one plastic dish -

- Chick (6/5): Comfortable & central - We didn’t choose breakfast so can’t comment The room are clean & comfortable but dated. We upgraded to a superior room with views & ended on a garden room with a table & chair which would have been nice but the table had old fag ends on it & the garden was unkempt & weedy. We were offered another room at an extra cost however that room look even more dated /furniture chipped had a balcony but no one you could have stood out on or sit out & needed cleaning & painting so stayed in the room we where at. The staff were lovely & super friendly & the hotel is in a good location right next to the cathedral & is clean & comfortable just bound do with a little lift. I’ve attached photos one of the garden shown in the advert & what you actually see just could have done with a tidy.

- Scott (4/5): Great location. Decor outdated and clear signs of wear and tear visible - The location was great - really central. The staff were really helpful. My room had visible signs of mould / damp on the walls and the shower slip mat looked as though it needed replacing a long time ago. There was no thermostat in the room so I was cold during the night - I asked the next day and was informed the only control is via the radiators themselves - unsure if this would turn them on though
- Wolf (3/5): Very poor value in run down hotel - Nothing, really. Went there for a private event in their bar. This place might have been nice in the 70s or early 80s but now it’s all poorly looked after, run down and shabby. It just needs a total refresh - but even if that’s not possible, at least some touching up and proper cleaning. Headboards had stains on the so I wouldn’t wish to rest my head against it, chairs too, limescale covered shower heads - and this was a superior room for £190 a night. And the mattress was old, a cheap sprung mattress, and very uncomfortable.

- Vera (5/5): Tolerable but wouldn't stay there again. - Staff were good and helpful but the hotel was scruffy and not what a usual 4 star should be. The room was dark and the decor depressing. No preparation seemed to have been made for a guest . The room was freezing, no heating had been turned on and the curtains covered the radiator. I found by pulling the curtains back behind the radiator it gave the room some heat. The outlook was over the rear of the hotel, which all needed a lick of paint as well. Not a very pleasant outlook at all.

Whilst offering a good selection, I found the breakfast a tad over priced at £14.00, £10.00 would be a better price. The parking was also slightly overpriced, £5.00 would've been better.

- Brian (7/5): Basically stayed over for one night, we ate out, location was excellent. - I was delighted with flexibility and the staff eagerness to accommodate an extra room . The girl on reception was most helpful and had a pleasant sense of humor. I didn't not like anything, we stayed just one night and basically laid a head for the night.

- Mike (8/5): A very pleasant stay within walking distance of everything. Good parking and friendly staff. - The room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was okay. Great location, being in the older part of the city with all the tourist attractions such as the Cathedral and Castle. The breakfast could have done with more choices of cheese and the fried eggs were a little on the dry side.

- Tracey (6/5): Great location and car park - Great location, great views of the Cathedral & hotel car park right behind; staff very helpful and friendly. Clean sheets & bedding. Dark Brown carpets & tired furniture in the bedrooms; bathroom clean but shower sprays without direction; plastic chairs in the breakfast room. Draughty windows, cold rooms. Sadly the Hotel needs some investment to bring up to scratch.
- Sierravistas (9/5): Ideally placed for the Cathedral and Castle. - The location was perfect for the Cathedral, Castle and a good selection of pubs and restaurants. It was also close to the stop for the bus from the station. The bed was large and extremely comfortable. The breakfast buffet was excellent with other options available on the day. The only problem was that the shower tray was very high off the bathroom floor. That could be an issue for some older visitors, though not for me.
- Julia (9/5): - Positio in Lincoln. Staff Restaurant Our room was a bit tired. Clean and comfortable but some minor cracks in the wall around the windows and we would have liked more sockets.
- Jeroen (5/5): Disappointed and will not return - The lack of cleanliness is clearly letting the hotel down. Built up dirt in many places (e.g. bottom of bathroom door (314) and red carpeted squares around balustrade on stairs, windows) are just a few of many items. Checking staff was helpful but ignoring us when making remarks about cleanliness - reckon more out of embarrassment as it knows that it cannot improve on it. Every new head housekeeper and/or f&b manager always need to improve on targets of their predecessors.
- Sally (8/5): Great stay - Excellent location. Comfortable room. Bar and restaurant with obliging, pleasant staff. Shower - old fashioned, shower head fixed to wall, water didn't get very hot, tiny cubicle. Choice at breakfast didn't match menu.
