• Rondelle (10/5): Charming - Small room in an older restored building, very quaint, loved the neighbourhood. Nice touches like a plate of fresh fruit and milk in the fridge for tea or coffee each day, and a good selection of drinks available in the mini-bar. Downstairs is a small wine bar/restaurant (although unfortunately closed Monday and Tuesday when we were there). Thanks Francis for your hospitality.

• Sophie (10/5): - This place was THE perfect place to stay in Utrecht. It’s a shot walking distance (10 mins) to the center of the city and it’s on a beautiful street filled with cute cafés, restaurants and stores. I highly recommend staying there!
• Cheryl (10/5): - This is a historic property; so, the staircase is narrow and the bedroom is small. But, the staff were excellent. And the location was perfect - within walking distance of everything and just out of the heavy nightlife activity. We slept very well!

Remember, like most in Europe they are older buildings converted so a bit small, but this one is very well done. The staff are very professional and every thing is very well taken care off.. The dining is great, and there is lots of dining locally. This is a must stay when exploring Utrecht.

And tastefully appointed and the service from the housekeeping team was first rate! Area surrounding is the museum quarter, very beautiful and a quick 10 min walk to just about any of the scores of wonderful restaurants Utrecht has to offer. We will definitely stay here again, this one is not to be missed!

• Francis (6/5): - This hotel is not suitable for elderly people. It is interesting to see that even thought a restaurant is run out of the facilities they do not provide guests with an option to have breakfast in the restaurant space. Our room had a terrace, but it was not easy to have breakfast in the small table in the terrace or inside since there is hardly any space to set up things. Unfortunately, there was no lift! Lastly, there is an awful smell that filters into the room, like rotten vegetables. I would not recommend to people with elderly guests.

I gave four and not five stars for the service because nobody was in site during the night and I was worried what could happen if I lost the keys. But it did not happen and I had a perfect stay
• Martina (10/5): - Das Team ist durch und durch sympathisch, freundlich und super hilfsbereit. Unser Zimmer war sehr liebevoll gestaltet, mit Sinn zum Detail. Man vermisst wirklich nichts! Kommen bestimmt wieder und dann mit Essen in der schönen Weinbar!
• Marcel (10/5): - 23122023: geboekt via Expedia, afgerekend in het hotel. Vriendelijk ontvangen en naar de kamer begeleid. Klein maar fijn en van alle gemakken voorzien. Ontbijt stond al voorbereid op de kamer (dienblad met crackers, zoet beleg, in de koelkast yoghurt met fruit en jus d'orange) Hotel in een gezellige winkelstraat van het Museum kwartier. Het winkelhart op loopafstand. Parkeren in de parkeergarage Vaartsche Rijn.

• Jeff (10/5): We loved Utretch and Hotel Zies - We flew into Amsterdam and getting the train (@35 minutes) to Utretch was very easy - get off one stop past Utretch central station for easy walk to Hotel Zies - after long flight, etc... it was very nice to have the owner (Francis) meet us in his wine bar and let us know that our room was ready early - we followed his recommendations for restaurants and all were great - (Keek just down the street was incredible for coffee, breakfast, lunch, just a great place to get the day started or return to later) As for the hotel and room nice and very clean - we had a room with a balcony and really enjoyed that - hotel is in the middle of so many good shops and restaurants and bars and the walking trail along the canal is just steps from hotel door. We loved it and will definitely be back to Utretch and Hotel Zies.

Comes with a huge modern bathroom and an amazing balcony. The check-in experience was great, too, since the staff went out of their way to explain everything and make me feel at home. Would certainly come back for another stay.

Spacious, in a busy section of Utrecht but very quiet as the rooms are in the back secluded. Walking distance to everything. Room perfectly stacked with breakfast, coffee and all amenities.

• Nigel (10/5): - A fabulous small boutique hotel. There are lots of lovely features in this refurbished old building and the attention to detail is outstanding. It's only a 5 minute walk to the hotel from Tram stop Vaartsche Rijn, one stop from Utrecht Central Station. Twijnstraat is full of independent shops and restaurants and it's a lovely walk into the city centre along the canal. The bedroom was very comfortable with lots of lovely additional free extras such as a Nespresso coffee machine. Highly recommended.

My only criticism is that the door to the shower and toilet is see-through, so sitting on the toilet is not very private. Nice bonus is the good-size outside balcony. It is very quiet.

The breakfast was nice and simple but a shame a full breakfast isn’t offered. The bedroom we were in had no bathroom door so don’t expect any privacy (I don’t believe this is the case for all rooms). Overall a very pleasant stay.

Staff were very friendly, helpful and provided an excellent service. There are quite a few bars nearby and the hotel is 10 min walk from the centre. Supermarket is a 5 min walk away. Parking is relatively expensive and limited in Utrecht but the staff recommended a safe parking garage nearby (5 min walk) at very reasonable day price
• Verified traveler (8/5): A Good Choice - BHZ is in a lovely, quiet, local neighbourhood at the south edge of the old town, a pleasant 12 minute walk from the town centre along the Oudegracht. As a London suburbs dweller, it is a special experience to wake up to the sound of church bells rather than the shrill tones of an alarm clock and the hum of constant traffic, having slept well in a very comfy bed. Rooms are equipped with (lovely) tea and coffee facilties, and our room's generous bathroom actually had a decent bath and shower. Breakfast is provided in the room, but I would say this is a bit difficult; there's not really a place for 2 people to sit and eat/drink comfortably together (out of bed?), unless you are happy to sit outside on the balcony. Not a reliable option in late October! The accommodation is attached to a tapas bar. Personally I would prefer being able to breakfast at a table in this, but I acknowledge that would complicate the operation of the business. And the bedside wall lights are a bit of struggle to understand without fearing you might break them. But I would happily stay there again. The service was unobtrusive but friendly if you had call to use it, and we felt it was a good value choice. A number 2 bus from Utrecht Centraal Station stops within 50m of the front door, (stop: Jules Hartelooper Complex) having taken you on a mini introductory tour of the town centre to get there. And waking up to the bells.... priceless.

• Kathrin (10/5): - Our stay was wonderful. The room was perfect - spacious, with a little garden to sit outside. Very tasteful and luxurious interior. We got fruits and water as a welcome and a little breakfast bag for the next day. The location is in the middle of the city, yet it was quiet. We would certainly stay there again. The only negative point was that there was no door to the bathroom - that's certainly not for everybody ;-).

• Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel is in a good location. It is very clean with a modern design. Breakfast is in your room at time of check in consisting of fruit, yogurt and coffee. The staff is nonexistant. It was very difficult to check in because it took us 30 minutes to find someone. No one is present at check out, you leave the keys in a box. We were told someone would be available if we needed them until 10:30 or 11:00pm. They would be working in the adjoining bar. We left for dinner at 6:00 pm and the bar was closed. We never saw anyone after check in. Due to the location and clean room, we would probably stay here again.
• Verified traveler (10/5): - We LOVED this unique hotel. Our room was cozy and we had a small balcony. The bathroom was designed very well with lots of space. The shower was beautiful with a special touch of tile. It had a very modern feel. There were fresh grapes and strawberries waiting for us on the corner coffee center in our room. They also had furnished a nice breakfast for the following morning, since we arrived late in the evening. What was very cool was the staircase in our room that looked like it went to a lower level, but when observing it closeup, we realized there was a huge glass panel over it so we could only view. It was quite an illusion. Beautiful touch. There was a wine bistro connected with the hotel and it centered on Italian wines. Beautifully done. This hotel is one of my all-time favorites. So different, but very functional. Very clean too!
• Verified traveler (10/5): - I stayed here for 3 nights and found every aspect of the stay exceptional. The staff were very helpful and showed me to the room in arrival. It was perfect - beautifully decorated with a well fitted bathroom and large TV with Netflix. While there is no breakfast service as such, each morning they left freshly baked banana bread from the local bakery with fruit, granola, fresh juice and yoghurt, plus a coffee machine in the room. The connected wine bar has a relaxed atmosphere for a drink in the evening. The location is perfect for a stay in Utrecht as it's nearby to some great spots and transport links. I enjoyed my stay here a lot and would highly recommend it.

Wine for purchase in the room from the connected wine bar was perfect for the end of the night. Breakfast of bread, yogurt, granola, and fruit also made a morning with coffee and a robe more enjoyable!

• AL (10/5): Small but great - Hotel is basically 5 or so rooms attached to a bistro so if you’re looking for the full Ritz Experience don’t , but if you want a well positioned stylish hotel with friendly staff this is a good choice. No restaurant breakfast - instead they fill your in room fridge with homemade yoghurt fresh orange and provide muesli to sprinkle over and some cake from local bakery. Lovely,

The room was not ready at 3pm. Unfriendly welcome and reluctant service. 9 steep stairs down to the bathroom on lower level. Bedroom small and cramped. Tried to charge us after we left for a chocolate bar which we had not taken. Bedroom well lit and stylish decor.

No 24hr service, the owners are in the attached restaurant and help , but they are there only during the hours the restaurant is open

• cja79 (8/5): Great for a short stay - The location is good in the museum quarter and only a few mins walk to a bus that went to central station and the UMC hospital/university/science park area where I was attending a conference. Hotel consists of 5 rooms above a wine bar/bistro which serves lovely food and a great choice of wine. The hotel is very quiet and I couldn't hear any noise what so ever from the wine bar/street when I was in my room - only the church bells :) It is a lovely little place and the room has some top quality finishes - the bed was extremely comfortable, lovely bed linen and pillows, nice soft towels, excellent toiletries etc My room was a little quirky - the bathroom was down some stairs and a fair bit cooler than the main room but it was nicely done with a bath and rainfall shower. There is a small wardrobe with a few hangers but I didnt find it until I was packing to leave because it is in the bathroom! The room size was fine for one person or a couple but felt a bit cramped for 2 friends and no room for a travel cot ( unless you stick it in the bathroom?!) A few stairs up to my room so avoid if you have limited mobility. Only real negative was the 'mini bar' .. well stocked but astonishingly high prices - 8.5 euros for a large bag of crisps. You would have to be crazy to use it when there is a supermarket only 3 doors down. I would recommend for a single traveller or a couple, much nicer than a corporate chain hotel. Staff were lovely.
• Marilyn J. (10/5): Great Boutique Hotel in Utrecht - This was one of the best places I've stayed in given the service. The room, in an older building, was a bit larger than the EU norm, with a very comfortable bed and up-to-date bath. Housekeeping brought me a plate of fresh fruit daily, a snackbag breakfast, and kept me in my favorite teas. Very clean hotel on the edge of Utrecht Old Town, very close to shopping, restaurants, etc but away from the main touristy areas. I ate along side locals, not tourists. A 5-star rating!
• John (10/5): Nice boutique hotel - Newly decorated, quirky boutique hotel. With a nice balcony, big bathroom with bath and shower. Hostess was very welcoming. All in a nice area of Utrecht
• Dries (6/5): perfect hotel, no breakfast - the room is excellent, good bed, nice bathroom, even a big tv with netflix. but it should not say breakfast included because it is not. also be aware parking is not available on premise, you will have to walk 10 minutes.

• Victoria (10/5): Lovely hotel in a small lively corner of Utrecht - An absolutely lovely hotel in a small but lively area of Utrecht. I was concerned about the price, but it is absolutely worth the money! Fresh fruit on arrival, replenished every day; ample minibar, with a good selection of wines; spacious bathroom, stylish decor, and a lovely balcony on which to have my breakfast. The only criticism I would have (or rather word of warning) is that the bathroom door is glass, and only partially frosted. So if you are a couple sharing this room, you are going to see much more of your partner's bathroom habits than you might have expected! If you're friends sharing the room, you might have to send one another out to the balcony if you want to use the loo! Of course, if you're travelling solo, then it's not a problem at all, and you can enjoy everything the room has to offer.
• Richard (10/5): Brand new well-appointed kid on the block - Brand new well-appointed bedrooms (and bathrooms), not really a hotel, but there are ample coffee shops in the area and an upmarket (co-owned) restaurant on the premises. A short pleasant walk along the OudeGracht Canal from the main centre
