Guest Reviews

- Pier133 (9/5): - Posizione ottima, struttura semplice ma accogliente, personale molto gentile! Consiglio questa struttura!
- Anne (9/5): I would stay here again - Just 5 mins to beach. Nice and safe area. Quite close to supermarket. Very close to waterfront restaurants
Room was great for one person - perhaps a little squishy for 2 but still fine. Staff were excellent and friendly. Air con was great. Hot water in shower. Small but good verandah with table and chairs. Nice array of cooking items supplied Nothing
- Dagmar (10/5): - Perfect location, just a short stroll from the beach, quiet and peaceful. Great communication with the reception ( Melissa and Martine ), very helpful and lovely. The room was very clean and had a homey feel. There was nothing I didn't like.
- Dominique (7/5): -
- Vladas Sapranavičius (10/5): - I liked the location close to Lemon Beach and cafes.
Management agreed to give me free late checkout at xmas day as a Xmas present.
Checkin, checkout and invoicing process was smooth. They are very responsive on WhatsApp. It is quite far from the city center and public buses are rare. So you should walk for about 50 min to reach a city center.
Thus you should consider in advance, what do you need more - city center or Lemon Beach.

- Christine (8/5): - The location is fantastic, one street back from the beach, cafes and restaurants. Very close to the Plage de Plaisance in the other direction where there is a supermarket, boutiques and partisserie with pastries that were exceptionally good. The hotel manager went out of his way to make sure everything was working, when I couldn't get the upstairs air-con and refridgerator working he sorted it out immediately, so all was working perfectly. I had an upstairs motel room with a mezzanine for sleeping and loved that it had air con both upstairs and downstairs. Bed was very comfortable. Residence Marina Beach has some interesting artistic decor. It's a little more rustic than other standard hotel options which I really liked and has a gorgeous flowering bougainvillea and gardens out the front. I had a very comfortable stay and as a woman travelling alone I felt very safe there. It can get noisy on Friday and Saturday nights due to it being near a nightclub in Baies de Citron, but lovely and quiet the rest of the week.
- Billon (7/5): - Situation
- Kateryna (9/5): We were very happy with this hotel. It’s a nice mid-range option, quiet and comfortable. The location is perfect — just -
- Emma (10/5): Amazing stay! Highly recommend - Great stay at Residence Marina Beach. Super close walking distance to both the marina, beach, shops, restaurants and bars. Spacious room and comfortable bed. Good WiFi. Nicolas was so helpful and organised my transfers to and from the airport. Couldn’t recommend more! Curtains were sheer
- Matthias (10/5): Just everything was amazing! - Very friendly and helpful staff. Nicolas was exceptional. Helped with all enquiries and beyond.
Trip advices, contacts, pick ups etc
I felt well looked after.
- Anthony (10/5): An excellent option, close to Baie des Citrons and supermarket. - I'm a repeat guest. The property is exceptionally well located, great value and kept spotlessly clean. A few minutes walk to the beach one way, a few minutes the other way to Port Plaisance shopping centre (Supermarket). Bus stop at end of street. Nicolas (manager) and his team work very hard to keep the hotel running smoothly in what is a difficult time economically for New Caledonia after the events of May 2024. Great suggestions given for local places to dine out (not in tourist zone) plus other local intel. Will happily recommend and look forward to my next visit. Nothing really. Perhaps the locally produced toilet paper supplied? The rolls are small lol. Marina Beach is a basic, clean apartment hotel and like all Pacific Islands sometimes things break / get stolen by guests and replacement items are hard to source locally.
- Desmond (9/5): very satisficed - Good location as it is walking distance to the beach and very near to noumea centre. Their staff is very friendly and one of the staff name nicolas was very friendly and willl extra if you need help.
Will stay here again on my next trip.
- Boris (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adrianna (10/5): Exceptional - location, room, owner was soo friendly! Definetely worth recommending 🥰
Magnifique
- Darren (9/5): Superb -
- Nancy (10/5): Marvellous place to spend our week in nouvelle caladonie - Beautiful flowers and artifacts Could have used a little more light for reading after dark
- Rachelle (9/5): Superb -
- Jonah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Indiaharperbrown (10/5): Marina Beach, little rustic paradise. - One minute from the beach, which was perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The accommodation is rustic island and quite zen. The bed was comfortable, air conditioning, and a huge shower. Cute kitchenette with everything you require to make your own food. Just a perfect experience all round. Staff are amazing. Easy check in and checkout. It would be nice to have one English channel on the TV.
- Cheryl (9/5): Beautiful weather beautiful location and the best bakeries in the Pacific - Fabulous location close to the only swimming beach currently, the Baie de citrons. Waterside strolls to many cafes, shops and an excellent supermarket. Located in a quiet residential street so protected from traffic noise and fumes. The local bus stop was at the end of the street and a short ride away from Noumea city. Other buses on different lines travelled to most surrounding attractions, museums and the market. The bed was not as comfortable as it could have been.
- Iain (9/5): Awesome budget hotel in great location - Excellent value for money. Clean co.fortable and brilliant location. Really helpful staff
- Jane (8/5): Very good -
- Heather (10/5): - Loved the decor and very central to the port. There was a supermarket just down the road. Friendly staff. There was a kitchen but no washing up equipment. Asked and got a tea towel, dishwashing liquid and wiping cloth but no plug for sink.
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Ihsan (8/5): Very good -
- Liudmyla (5/5): Passable - no breakfast
- Richard (7/5): Perfectly adequate if your on a budget and don’t need frills! - You get what you pay for, was all I needed, may not be to everyone’s liking but the location for the price was the beneficial factor for me.
Was just a place to sleep. Supermarket was an easy 5 minute walk away and beach a few minutes. With roller door down at night the location was quiet even thou I stayed on a weekend! The curtains were pretty shear and flimsy but the roller door provided great darkness so wasn’t a huge issue.
- Aleksander (10/5): Fantastic! - Very good location near the city center and the beach. Quiet area. Fantastic ladies at the reception (friendly, helpful, very responsive with any questions). The whole holiday was spent in very good conditions. The rating for the hotel is of course 10+ (if I could, I would give an even higher rating). Everything was great
- Zeljka (3/5): Unpleasant - The location is excellent
The hostess was very nice and helpful
The staff was helpful
Quiet The room had a musty smell
Mould is visible in the corners and in the bathroom
No shower curtain, no bathroom mat
Kitchen dated
The bed is very soft and uncomfortable
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Nauka (5/5): Good location and very affordable - Thé location and the size of the room and the bathroom Thé fact that there was no shower curtain nor any mat inside the bathroom - the bed was not comfy enough - found it quite hard on the back
Impossible to contact staff / reception in ALL phone numbers provided
- Sydneyraj (8/5): Great location and room facilities - Kitchenette with full size refrigerator and microwave. Comfortable good size room and lighting. Easy check-in and check-out. Quiet location. Metres to the beach and short walk to Casino supermarket. Good meal packs at nearby shop called Bikini (not a swimwear shop) Room didn't smell fresh at first, maybe due to lack of airflow, but it helped when door was left open for a while for air to flow through. Air fresheners would be an advantage.
- Kapil (3/5): Poor -
- Jo (6/5): fantastic location but a bit noisy - the location is excellent. the bed was very comfortable. the decor was cool it was very noisy during the night and early in the morning which made it hard to sleep. some of the noise was from ? neighbours (out of the owners control) but some was from within the building ? cleaning staff ?? the room was also short on facilities - no bath mat, no tea towel, very little crockery.
- Carmen (8/5): - Like the roller shutters in the room. Location was convenient, walking distance to beach, supermarket, dining places. Bus stop to city and back within a few meters.
- Jennivr (9/5): Very good value for money and ideal for a short stay - It is in a very convenient location just 2 streets from Lemon Bay and 50 metres from a bus stop. it is super clean and has good facilities. A very quite location. The bed was too. soft for me so I slept in the middle of the double bed where it was former,
- Reginald (10/5): creative .. comfortable.. uncanny - beautifully curated rooms ..
- tropicgirl39 (8/5): Great location, helpful staff and value for money - The best things about this hotel are the location (a minute from the bus stop, less than 5 minutes walk to la Baie Des Citrons, 5 minutes walk to the shopping mall for self catering, duty free shopping and banking and about 10 minutes walk to many restaurants, the very helpful and kind staff and the great value for money.
- doggyloversteele (8/5): Great Stay - Very much enjoyed my stay. Was given nice big sunny room on top floor with big window I could slide open and was secure because I'm not a fan of air conditioning although the room had one. Got a wonderful breeze through the room. Huge closet ! Nice bathroom, fabulous shower !Very comfortable quite soft bed if you like soft beds its great. Cute little kitchen with full size fridge! Everything I needed. Everything was spotlessly clean and even though it says cleaning every 7 days my room was cleaned every day. The hotel staff are so friendly and do a wonderful job. Internet was great. Location is fantastic! Price is excellent.
My only complaint would be that some linens, only the pillowslips and towels need replacing as they are too old and worn. Other than that everything was great. Would stay again.
Note: there are stairs only no elevator. Top floor would not be suitable if you are not very able.
Note: I see reviews saying doors open easily. It's just the design. I always lock my door with the key. 100% secure. Everyone traveling should do that anyway.
Note: the noise is not from bars, the ones close by are closed down it seems. It's just some road noise, dog barking a little, people walking by.
- Victoriajs (8/5): Excellent budget Hotel - Excellent Location
Great value for money
Clean
Comfortable
Had a kitchen Pillowslips and towels were very worn needed replacement
No curtains in the room
- Andrea (8/5): Very good - Very helpful and friendly. Excellent location. Good value for money.
- Julie (7/5): Good -
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- xilbrigo47 (2/5): Skip this place - I have to say the location is good, next to the beach, bars, restaurants... But it´s so disappointing, bad internet connection, linen with bad smell, noisy and poorly isolated walls, dirty balcony with a dried dead bird included... And when I wanted to leave the place and move to another one, always talking with the stuff in a nice and educated way, they say no refund will be done for the rest of the stay I booked. I don´t blame the hotel stuff at all but the management should think things over on the way they treat the customers.
- Annemieke (10/5): Exceptional - The location was amazing. Close to the beach and bars and restaurants. Nice to walk along the boulevard day or night. We had 4 days of rain but we had a rental car so we could still go out and explore town.
- Summer (9/5): very happy - location and staff the bed was super soft and difficult for me to sleep on- but that’s just me being picky and is probably great for others
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice place to stay in Noumea - I had a warm welcome and the place was comfy. Good location in the city.
- 141wendyp (10/5): Excellent - We had a great studio room with large balcony. Kitchenette well equipped with kettle, 2 ring hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster and coffee maker. Any additional items such as tea towels and washing up liquid are supplied from reception. Plenty of pots and pans to cook a good meal. All the staff are terrific. Housekeeping is twice per week which suited us. If you need extra bathroom items, just ask and the ladies are eager to provide these for you. Well maintained property, the staff continually perform maintenance checks and tasks for continual improvement for guests. The location is perfect. 5 minute walk to beach. Lemon bay is beautiful. The promenade walk takes you all the way around the headland to Anse Vata beach. 7 minute walk to Port Plaisance where you will find small shopping mall with Casino Supermarket, patisserie and across the road is a pharmacy. Bus stop at the end of the road - 2 minute walk, you can catch the No.3 to the main part of town for 300xpf.
Overall a fabulous place to stay and a great location. Highly recommended. We initially booked for 2 weeks, then extended our stay to 1 month.
- Sachi (8/5): - It was good to get messages in French and English from the hotel 1 week before I stayed. But I got a wrong number of a safety box to get my room key so that it took a long time to get my key. Wifi was weak when everyone use it. It was inconvenient no face towel. There is a night bar near there, it was noisy until around 3 am on Saturday.
However the kitchen has everything to cook and a large fridge and freezer. It is good for a long stay. The Lemon bay beach, restaurants, bus stops, supermarket are close to the hotel.
The room has an air conditioner, it was comfortable to stay.
- philippe (8/5): Dommage - une escale sur notre route ,
- DonW14 (10/5): A Value Gem - 9.0
Located on a quiet back street only a short 2 minute stroll from the beach, each of the rooms is a small studio apartment, with cooking facilities and equipment. The rooms are tastefully furnished and the beds are large and comfortable. The upper floor rooms have balconies. Cannella, the receptionist, is friendly and helpful. A mini market with delicious prepared meals as good as the local restaurants but at 1/3 the price is steps away. A complete supermarket is an 8 minute walk.
TIP 1: Room number 28 is the prick of the lot, on a quiet back corner of the property with a large balcony.
TIP 2: To find the "secret" path to the beach, turn right out the front door, walk 50 meters and turn right, walk 2 minutes down path to beach.
If you book an airport transfer through the hotel, double check to make sure of the correct pick-up time as given by the transfer company.
- ALDEN (8/5): Nouméa stay - Friendly staff, easy checkin
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This property is very basic. Had to fix the shower myself, tv remote didn’t work.
It’s about a 400m walk to the beach
- D9475OUmichaelo (2/5): Hotel from hell - Had a trip planned to Noumea so as usual got onto booking.com to look.
Found a unique little hotel with so very good ratings.
Asked for private car to pick up and was met by a taxi.
Got to hotel, well I'll let pictures do the talking.
Second night 1.30 there was a first fight and door banging in hallway till 3.00am.
Talked to reception in morning ( only open 10.30am to 1.30 pm ) and was advised there is not much they can do for me but give me another room. I advised I wish to cancell but was advised that this as is not possible and they would keep my money. Bear in mind this is all booked through bookings .com( were they helpful , NO.
So stuck out week, very little sleep and learnt to bet on cockroaches crossing floor at night.
NEVER TRUST BOOKINGS.COM
And never stay in this hot.
- tropicgirl39 (10/5): Fabulous choice - We stayed here for close to 2 weeks.
We could not have been happier with our choice.
We have stayed at different properties in the area over the years but I have to say in terms of location and value for money, you really cannot go past this little gem.
The location is marvellous. It is less than a 2 minute walk to Baie Des Citrons beach. You turn right as you walk out of the property and walk 2 very small blocks down an alleyway and you arrive at Baie Des Citrons - one of the loveliest beaches in Noumea.
A 5 minute walk in the other direction will lead you to Port Plaisance shopping mall with a variety of little boutiques, a Casino supermarket and what I consider to be the best patisserie in Noumea - Le Sabayon.
The bus stop to take you into the centre of town is at at the corner of the road where the hotel is - a 1 minute walk.
The room was set up perfectly for self catering with stove, sink, microwave and a full sized fridge not a small bar fridge that one usually sees.
Our room was bright and airy. The room was well laid out.
Our beds were comfortable and the air conditioning worked very well in the hot conditions.
Anything extra you needed in terms of tea towels, extra cups, utensils, a drying rack, hairdryer etc could be obtained upon request.
True it did not have dishwashing liquid etc but this is the case no matter which self catering apartment you stay at.
There was also a washing machine and clothes dryer on site.
I read the reports of noise. We did not encounter these issues. The owner was fastidious in ensuring that guests behaved and noise was eliminated.
This place was a great combination of hotel and apartment. You got all the help you needed when you needed it but without the intrusion of some hotels.
Martine, the owner was patient, always cheerful and good natured no matter how many requests were made of her. The last day the transfer we had prebooked and prepaid did not arrive. Martine organised a taxi at the hotel's expense to take us to the airport. It is rare to see that level of dedication these days.
Highly recommended.
- F7510HHpeterj (10/5): Great place to stay near the beach - We stayed a week in a family group of seven. The reception was friendly and helpful, especially when we broke their corkscrew. The bathroom and toilet was clean and we especially liked the attachment to wash our feet after being on the beach. The only disadvantage was proximity to a noisy bar on Friday and Saturday nights when the racket went on till after 3 am but we had a balcony room so not sure of other rooms.
- marellemahy (8/5): Great hotel, best value for money - We spent a week in that residence and loved it.
Pros:
- Spacious rooms with a little kitchen and fridge allowing you to stock up and cook in you apartment.
- Location is amazing, two minutes walk from Bay of Lemon
- Aurore works at reception and is always happy to help. For example the hotel let us leave a few things whilst going to Isle of Pines for a few days as you can only take 12kg on the plane.
- Laundry coins available for purchase for 500 francs for washing machine, 500 francs for dryer, and 150 francs for soap.
- They are very responsive if you have questions prior to your stay.
- Big supermarket only minutes walk.
- You won’t find better value for money in Noumea.
Cons:
- WiFi was weak
- We noticed the cleaner sometimes came in the room, but for example only put the bathroom mat on the floor and didn’t do anything else. I found it weird that a cleaner would come in the room and do only a tiny thing.
- Soap provided is not enough for 1 week but I’m sure they will give you more if you ask
- Rooms are cleaned once a week but this is standard as this is not a hotel, but rather an apartment
Be aware that as this is not technically a hotel, there is no breakfast available at property, but again you can stock up cereals or pastries in the fridge so this is not a problem.
- ktpie18 (8/5): Nicely situated - This place is a clean, friendly hotel. Rooms are tastefully decorated and a good size. Bathroom worked well with good shower pressure. No lounge area outside of room though. Laundry facilities available but expensive. Reception was friendly and helpful. Beach and bars very close and I would recommend this area. Next door to a hostel and Saturday night was very very loud. The other nights were very quiet.
- peterwZ6364MA (8/5): Great location - Recently my wife and I stayed here for 12 nights. The room was comfortable and suitable for our needs. The great part of our stay was Aurora and the staff. Nothing was too much trouble, from providing a couple of wine glasses to making some booking phone calls for local tours, everything was great. It was close to all amenities such as bus and supermarket and also very quiet. Lemon Bay is a 4 minute walk away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thanks so much Aurora.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice for a short stay - Good location, not too far to restaurants and bars, very nice and helpful personal at the desk.
Unfortunately there is no cleaning or towel change, if you need is you have to pay extra and it was expensive!!! We would do by our self but there was nothing you could use.
If you don't mess your room it's OK to stay for few days.
- Brian1250 (8/5): Pleasant Stay - We spent 3 midweek nights and the stay was most enjoyable. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Beach, supermarkets and restaurants all within walking distance.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Modest hotel, close to the beach - The accommodation is situated in a quiet ally very close to baie de citron and a bus stop. Staff were nice. Check in and check out were super easy. The room we got was rather dark and the odor from the cleaning product was very strong. Room cleaning also doesn't happen until you check out. For New Caledonia, this accommodation offers good value. However, if you are looking for a hotel with a comprehensive services, maybe check out some other places but also be prepared to pay more.
- Cookapie (6/5): Unserviced Budget Accomodation. - The Residence Marina Beach Hotel is not like a normal hotel, it has many rooms fitted out in different ways but all with kitchenette and you need to ask for utensils as they are missing. The rooms are clean but once occupied they are only cleaned every 7 days and the linen changed every 7 days. We asked for clean linen and changed our own. The shower has good hot and cold water pressure. The bed is comfortable. Has French TV , no English channels, Fridge freezer, microwave and a 2 element cook top. The reception staff are great but they only speak French but the manager speaks English so that helps. The beach is a 2 minute walk away. A local dairy is 1 minute around the corner, stocks takeaway food as well as grocery items, the main supermarket, Casino is less than 10 minutes walk away. When booking here request a room on the opposite side to the hotel next door as it gets a little noisy. Overall the location is good with a bus stop 30 seconds walk from the front door. We enjoyed our stay.
- Anthony (8/5): Nice hotel close to the beach - Friendly and helpful staff, but some missing amenities like towels for drying dishes and stuff to clean dishes. Mattress was uncomfortable after a few days but room was situated with nice views.
- kabededo (6/5): Nice Place ground floor to close to the Nightclub - The hotel is located on the backs onto Lemon Bay quick walking distance to the waterfront and to restaurants. The room is clean and modern good shower pressure (not light in the shower ) we had stayed downstairs the kitchen had enough utensils the only problem with this place its very noisy.
- Petermct61 (8/5): A serviced apartment not a hotel - I have been here for two days and am staying 10. The room is clean and of a reasonable size. It is complete with TV and all channels are from France. I had to ask for soap on arrival and after buying some provisions am unsure how I will do the dishes as no tea towel in the room. Its about 2 minutes walk to the beach. The hotel is in the Baie des Citron. I feel a bit duped as there is no communal area, bar etc. It should be described as a services apartment although it is yet to be serviced. Another review I think mentioned once a week. The staff are very pleasant and very helpful. Its in a very quiet area just behind the Mocambo hotel on the main road. Would not stay here again as was not after a serviced apartment. No restaurant, bar etc.
- dek12015 (6/5): More of an apartment than a hotel - Good points: excellent location, close to a good beach, 30 mins walk to town, close to restaurants and shops, good shower, clean, good price.
Bad points; very noisy, lacking kitchen utensils and cleaning gear, not serviced in 10 days of stay, smokers sat on front steps and smoke wafted through, wifi kept dropping out.
- Terry52Brisbane (8/5): Unit in Noumea September 2015 - The hotel is situated in a generally quiet location just a block from the Baie des Citrons. When we arrived we received an upgrade from a studio club to a suite and free Wi-Fi. Reception was warm and welcoming as was the staff.
The second floor suite was charming. The suite was fully air-conditioned, clean and fresh and had sufficient cookware to self cater. Not that one goes to Noumea to self cater. There is literally a decent French restaurant on every corner in the Baie des Citrons and Anse Vata area.
It was a perfect week of relaxation.
- nikolaym235 (8/5): Great place - The hotel is situated just behind the Mocambo hotel on the main street. The renovation that took place in the hotel paid back enough as the rooms are very nicely decorated, the bathrooms are near designer quality and the overall hotel look is great. There are buses to the city centre (10/11) and in 10 minutes you are on the Place des Cocotiers
- Leahthetourist (6/5): Beach & Basic - Take the airport transfer from arc de ciel direct not through hotel as hotel majorly over charges. Freezer is noisy at night & interrupted sleep, we never got a good night sleep.
Great location by the beach and right by the bus stop to take you into town. Big tv (only in French). Nice manager. Excellent value.
I probably wouldn't stay here again due to lack of sleep. The kicthen had everythign we needed except anything to wash stuff up with.
- edrobson (8/5): A week in Noumea July 2014 - This was my second visit to NC, the other time was in the height of summer. This trip was the 'winter' one. Great place to take a study break and enjoy some excellent food (had spent 5 years in Paris and Nice some time back so knew a little of the language.). Hotel staff here were friendly and helpful. The room was very CLEAN and the area SAFE situated between Anse Vata and Baie des Citrons two of the main beaches in this part of the island. Also a 15 minute 25cent bus ride into town. Some good exercise routes along the coast and through to the city centre. Great place to take a study rest and 2 1/2 hours out of Auckland. There is grocery store about 15 mns walk from the hotel. Buy your wine and fine food there. Tank up before heading out to the night clubs. They are a tad expensive Do treat yourself to one of the many fine restaurants just 10 mins walk. away. Definitely a return place for me and family. Use the bus service from Tontouta. Great crowd! Bon chance.
