- Greg (10/5): It was all excellent - Loved the house
- Hannah (10/5): Beautiful townhouse in a wonderful street and near to the picturesque river. -
- Michelle (10/5): Wonderful experience. Thank you! - Everything!
- Benjamin (10/5): Brilliant stay in historic location - The opportunity of staying in a traditional house in the historic district The closing lock could be more secure

- Meili (10/5): Fantastic stay in lovely Kanazawa! - We absolutely loved our stay at Kazueya as it was such a unique experience to stay in a traditional house. We loved having our own space that was bigger than a hotel room too! The local hotel reception staff were very friendly and helped us get checked in. Fantastic location in the centre of one of the Geisha districts of lovely Kanazawa.
- Blair (8/5): amazing was to experience japanese living. - Staff were friendly and welcoming when collecting the keys at the Pacific Hotel. The house, WOW. tucked away down a small road, it was secluded and peaceful. The house is beautifully decorated and has everything you could need. I was a solo traveller but really wanted to experience staying in a traditional house, and this place exceeded my expectations and was totally worth the extravagance. Location was great if you want peaceful evenings, as most things in the area close by 6 pm (in Higashi Geisha District), however, there's a great bar (oriental brewing - try the yuzu beer) and a cool concept restaurant (Barrier) if you want something within 5 min walk in the evening. its easy to get a taxi or public transport to get around kanazawa, and i found kanazawa to be a very walkable city aswell. The front door only had 1 small lock, as a solo female traveller would have felt a little safer having additional locks on the property for peace of mind.
- Thompson (10/5): - We had such a great stay. The location was fantastic. The beds and sofa super comfy. But above all, the house and street felt like we'd stepped back in history, but with modern comforts. Can thoroughly recommend this apartment.
- Sabrina (10/5): -
- Ashley (10/5): -
- Monika (9/5): - Beautiful design lovely touches comfortable
- Guanyi (10/5): Great place to experience the traditional Japanese home - Very pretty place in a historical district, and the staff are very warm and friendly. We’ve stayed 7 nights there and the location is very convenient to nearby seafood market. Nice view in the living room as well.
- Tanya (10/5): Charming japanese house. - We loved our stay at this charming property. It was so well appointed and had everything you could possibly need. It was the highlight of our trip. Perfect location. Nothing it was amazing.
- Laure-Anne (9/5): -
- Valentina (9/5): -
- Gorazd (10/5): - Great location, dreamy apartment! Highly recommended!
- Tim (10/5): - Charming Japanese style, very clean with thoughtful amenities provided. Great location and the staff were very friendly and professional. It rained heavily during the night and there isn’t gutting around all of the roof so the sound of rain pouring off the iron roofing is very loud.
- Maria (10/5): A Serene Stay in the Heart of Kanazawa's Historic District - Kazueya offers an exceptional experience, blending traditional Japanese architecture with modern comforts. Located in the tranquil Kazue-machi district, it's just a short walk from the vibrant Omicho Market and the picturesque Higashi Chaya district.
The townhouse is impeccably clean and thoughtfully equipped, featuring a cozy living area, a well-stocked kitchenette, and a serene private garden. The tatami-matted rooms provide an authentic atmosphere, making it feel like a true home away from home.
What truly sets Kazueya apart is the attentive hospitality. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, assisting with directions and local recommendations, which enhanced our stay immeasurably. A special mention to the girl who handled our check-in—she has been amazing, welcoming us warmly and making everything effortless. Their attentiveness set the tone for an unforgettable
This has been the best stay of our trip — we truly wish we could have stayed longer
If you're seeking a peaceful retreat that offers both cultural immersion and modern amenities, Kazueya is an outstanding choice.

- claire (8/5): A most wonderful stay in a historical area - Location and decoration and comfort were great Air conditioning was complicated to set up.
- Michael (10/5): - Fantastisk traditionelt hus i historisk kvarter
- Håvard (10/5): - One of the highlights of our stay. Beautiful apartment inside the Geisha district of Kanazawa. Easy to get to, with the hotel staff helping out with a taxi (as the apartment is some way off the hotel who "owns it"). This stay brought good value with a decent price for a large and very cosy apartment.
- gizem (9/5): Lovely stay - The Japanese style rooms, i liked the living room. The little garden is so cute. Nothing
- Enrico (9/5): Superb - Beautiful accommodation in a traditional house, great services
- Abe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wei (10/5): Perfect stay and we wish to return there one day - We love the charming area, the peace, quiet, beautiful and functional house, the accommodating staff helping us find our way to parking and the ease of checking in and out. Nothing I can think of
- Craig (9/5): Superb -
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional - Such a unique experience to stay in a traditional Japanese house in a historic location.
- Angelica (10/5): One if my favorite stays in Japan. A truly unique, beautiful and comfortable space. - Unique stay that allowed us to enjoy a traditional home all to ourselves. The house itself has so many wonderful details and comes thoughtfully stocked. Location is set in a beautiful walkable historic district. It was a little chilly/cold in the home, but space heaters were provided. Also due to the historic nature of the house the walls are fairly thin so you can hear your neighbours. Though that could be part of the charm considering some are geisha practicing their musical performance for the coming evening.
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional -
- Trudy (10/5): Exceptional - The perfect location in the middle of an old tea district.
- Damir (9/5): Superb -
- Gille (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Justin (8/5): Very good -
- Alison (9/5): A Home Away from Home in Kanazawa - An authentic Japanese experience in Kanazawa, this was aperfect place to immerse ourselves in the local culture and lifestyle. This traditional townhouse offers a cozy and comfortable stay, allowing you to experience Japan as a local. The townhouse had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, including a small kitchenette, the little garden was also a lovely addition.
Kazeuya is ideally located in the heart of Kanazawa's, with a variety of restaurants, cafes, shops and the Nishiki Market within walking distance. A perfect spot to explore the city.
The traditional atmosphere, comfortable accommodations, and excellent location made it an unforgettable experience. We highly recommend it to anyone seeking a authentic Japanese guesthouse experience in Kanazawa. Nothing - all very good.
- Traci (10/5): Exceptional - Fabulous stay! Absolutely beautiful home in a wonderful location. Plenty of room for a family of 4. Incredibly kind and helpful hosts. I wish we could have stayed longer. This is a very special place.
- Paul (10/5): Fabulous Machiya House situated in a historic area. Throughly recommend, a real Gem! - Simply Brilliant place to stay in the heart of the district. Surrounded by history and made us feel like we were staying somewhere special. You check-in at the Pacific Hotel who were lovely and a taxi transfer is arranged to the accomodation. The Machiya house is a true authentic experience with many quirks. The beds are really comfy, the space for two people was massive and the way that the rooms are set out traditionally is truly authentic. The tiolet is a tight space. Air Con is pretty creaky at times and the bathroom shower and bath was downstairs annexed to the kitchen. That said, we loved these quirks and expect things to be like this.
- Neil (10/5): A great property in a very interesting part of town in which to spend a few days - A real gem hidden behind an unassuming front door in a very interesting part of the town The inner doors leading to the rear garden rattled at night when the a/c unit was running. Otherwise it was just perfect
- Malavika (10/5): A perfectly located, well designed and beautiful house to experience Japanese living - The location was perfect. The house was beautifully constructed and decorated. The garden was beautiful and relaxing. Nothing
- Katie (10/5): Beautiful traditional townhouse - We loved this house! So beautiful and peaceful in a really lovely traditional area. The staff from the hotel who manage it were also really friendly and helpful. The house has been set up with everything you need to be very comfortable Stairs are a bit steep but such is life with traditional places
- Heiner (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aayush (10/5): Exceptional -
- Phu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gregory (10/5): Exceptional - It was an amazing place to stay. Great location, huge, comfortable, unique, felt like a real Japanese experience.
- Tony (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, parallel to the river. Traditional, well provisioned house in traditional style. Perfect for a family and super relaxing.
- Erin (10/5): Beautiful house in lovely historic district walking distance to everything! - Beautiful property in a perfect quiet historic location Nothing
- Rhona (9/5): Loved our stay at Kazueya. Wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy the area a little bit more - Kazueya is a lovely traditional townhouse (machiya) near the hagashi chaya district. It is walking distance to cafes in the Higashi chaya district. It was comfortable and spacious for me and my teen daughter. It had a little japanese garden which we loved and enjoyed. The property had all the amenities you needed (fridge, toaster, microwave, iron, A/C, TV, bluetooth speakers and highspeed Wifi internet connection). The property is very close to the bus stop too. The staff at Kazueya was very helpful too. I lost my phone at the train station and they helped me call the JR Lost and found office to ask if my phone was found since the personnel only spoke Japanese. Thanks to them, I was able to retrieve my lost phone just before I left Kanazawa. Check out was at 10am. 11am would have been ideal but nonetheless we had to catch an early train back to Tokyo so we checked out at 9am.
- Yoke moi (10/5): - We love our stay at Kazueya! It gave us a chance to truly experience the ryokan and how locals live. We especially enjoyed the peaceful night in our surroundings :)
In addition, one of the staffs (a young lady) at Pacific hotel was super helpful. Due to the language barrier, she helped me to get bus tickets to shirakawago and to Takayama. I can't thank her enough for that!
Overall, we are very satisfied with our stay and I've already rated Kazueya 5 stars on Expedia!
- Mara (9/5): Superb - Lovely sized machiya in a perfect location. We stayed in the two single beds (western style) room. We particularly chose this place for it's deeper bath over other places. Quiet and private. Dusty in certain places like corners/ledges etc. so depends how picky you are. Bathroom needs a little better ventilation but no issues for use.
- Venise (10/5): Perfect little oasis in Kanazawa - Well curated house with everything you need, located close to the main local attractions which allowed us to visit everything by foot. Really a perfect house, cheaper than most of the hotels around and much more spacious and unique! Just the fact that even the garden was non smoking, but really not a big deal…!
- Yuejia (10/5): Incredible stay at a traditional townhome - Beautiful property and location. The facilities were very clean and well kept. Loved how quiet the street was and the staff were very helpful getting us there. There were a lot of insects around the property, so I didn't feel comfortable opening the windows to let fresh air in. I would have liked stronger anti-mosquito measures. The bathtub automatic filling wasn't working well.
- Emily (8/5): Traditional stay in a well equipped home that will continue your love of Japan. - Beautiful townhouse in perfect location. Loved the design inside and all the complementary toiletries. The Japanese garden is exquisite. Location is slightly noisy as people walk through the side street in front and stop to take photos, but to be expected with style of house.
- Bernard (9/5): Very nice accomodation! - Beautifully renovated, very well equipped, perfect location, ideal for a family of 4, the garden is lovely also It's not very convenient by car due to the lack of parking space. We dropped the bags then found a parking 5-6 mins walk away. Not suitable for people who would like to be noisy.
- Camille (10/5): Very pleasant - - excellent location
- very beautiful building outside and inside
- the small zen garden - a bit complicated and confusing to go to another hotel in order to get the keys and information
- Tong (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kasia (10/5): Loved it! - The townhouse was so beautiful and peaceful, comfy beds, lovely courtyard garden - would love to stay again. Great location on a gorgeous narrow street. Really nice staff at main hotel and an easy check-in. It was very cold in Kanazawa during our visit in March so it would be nice to have a heater in the bathroom
- Travers (10/5): Traditional gem hidden amongst the charming alleys of geisha district - The location and value for money was excellent, our family loved living in a traditional Japanese home The shutters in the master bedroom rattled continuously through the night due to the neighbour heating system
- Jonathan (10/5): Amazing - Everything Nothing
- Natascha (10/5): Exceptional - Incredible little townhouse with all comforts and luxuries. Beautiful area in a very walkable town. Check in was made very easy, and the whole stay was incredibly comfortable, easy and picturesque. Nothing!
- Alina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Glen (10/5): Wish we had stayed longer. - Amazing location and beautiful home with excellent details. Check in staff were great at the associated hotel, providing excellent information and paid for a taxi to Kazueya. Fantastic experience.
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic location and beautiful place.
- Camille-pierre (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful house in a beautiful place, it was very comfortable and we very much enjoyed our stay!
The rooms are very well furnished, the bathroom is also large, with a very comfortable tub, and the garden was very peaceful to look at. Everything was great!
- Jianhua (10/5): - The location is wonderful, at the side of a beautiful river and in a walking distance to the famous historic streets where you can hang out in the beautiful tranditional houses and shops. The property is new, modern and comfortable though it looks old and traditional from outside. The staff is thoughtful, keep sending you detailed information on check in, transportation, stay etc. Overall, a pleasant stay in Kazueya, thank you.
- Cailin (10/5): - Incredible traditional property in a beautiful walkable historic location.
- Kylie (10/5): Magic!! - Kazueya is in the beautiful old town of Kanazawa. You are the only guests at Kazueya and it has so much character, is spacious, traditional and comfortable. It was perfect as it was raining for some of our stay (beautiful umbrellas were left for us to use). The castle and gardens are about a 10-15 minute walk as is the market. You pick up the key from another hotel and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend if you are after some quiet, traditional space in Kanazawa.
- Ken (10/5): A gem! Genuine, Japanese old home. Craftmanship is superb! - If you want to stay in an authentic Japanese vintage home, this is it. The craftsmanship, and materials used, are top notch. The automatic bathtub is a real treat, which looks at the backyard garden. The living area has a heated carpet, which is an added bonus. This is the most memorable place I’ve stayed in in Japan! If I ever return to Kanazawa, I’d definitely stay here again. Nothing!
- Anthony (10/5): A special place. Highly rercommended - Very easy. Just follow the instructions Nothing to dislike
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Neil (10/5): Excellent - All aspects from chem-in to stay to check-out were excellent. I definitely hope to stay there again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was wonderful staying in a house. Such a great location. We felt like we’re really part of the community. The stag was super helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Unique Experience - This townhouse is at the heart of the geisha area, this place definitely gave us the true feeling of this neighborhood and culture.
- alice (10/5): Our favourite place in Japan - Absolutely loved this place. Charming traditional house but fully renovated with modern touches inside. Beautiful rock garden at back, right beside where the geisha train and easy 3 min walk to catch JR bus loop to other areas in the city. Super quiet and peaceful. If you are looking for something right in the middle of downtown and nightlife this is not for you.
