The staff is very helpful with suggestions for what to do in the area; they will also arrange airport pick-up or drop-off for US$30. A good breakfast is included and they take the time to explain about local fruits they serve. Clean rooms with comfy beds. We really like this place and stayed here 3 times, using it as a base to explore Ecuador and the Galapagos.

El personal es super amable y siempre estan dispuestos a ayudar y aclarar dudas. La habitación que me tocó estaba muy cerca de la recepción y en ocasiones se escuchaban las conversaciones, pero no fue algo grave. Pude dormir bien toda la noche.

La entrada es un poco incómoda porque hay que subir una escalera con las maletas. La habitación muy amplia, el desayuno no es buffet pero bastante bueno. Las habitaciones no tienen calefacción pero tienen un calefactor que sirve para calentar la habitación. Muy recomendable. Falta de calefacción en las habitaciones, con necesidad de usar calefactores. Falta de ascensores para subir a la recepción y a las habitaciones.

- Sun Xiatian (10/5): Roses and history! - This is a very special place! The night I checked in, the hostess Lucia reminded me that 'History is important' and couldn't agree more! The entire place is a living and vibrant reminder that you're inside the World Heritage site. Its authenticity takes you to the history book pages, while the whole place is newly refurbished, impeccably clean, sunlit and full of fresh roses. I really enjoyed the information and tips about local foods and agricultural regions that were shared by Lucia during breakfast - these really added on to the experience and appreciation of the place. I'm also very grateful for allowing me to store my luggage after check-out and for safe and airport efficient transfer services. Highly recommend!

The coffee was average which was surprising for Ecuador. The location is excellent and security is good. It was consistently clean and tidy. The bed linens were not great. They slid off the bed. The towels were thin. There were three sets of shutters on the second floor windows, and the windows had to be completely shuttered after dark.

The hotel staff is very attentive and helped us coordinate transfers to and from the airport, as well as helping us with tours of both Quito's historic center and an excursion to one of the volcanoes.

Close to all shops and restaurants, Quito at night is all lit up and you can see the cathedral and other monuments. The people were fantastic, sorted out a pick up for my tour and organised a taxi for our trip to Mindo. Very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was fabulous eggs, fruit, toast and croissants with jam, delicious! Nothing

- 810catalinap (8/5): Very good - This hotel is very well located, in the centre of the old town, near many restaurants and attractions, close enough to a metro station. The room was big and clean, with a nice decor. Air con would have helped a lot as the room had no windows that we could open to the outside. Our room was also very close to the dining room area so we got woke up early, when they started preparing breakfast. My favourite part was breakfast as we received a different local fruit and we were told a little about it. The coffee was excellent. Breakfast was a piece of fruit, some form of bread/pastry and eggs. I have coeliac disease so I could only have eggs every morning as the staff didn't have any understanding of gluten.

- Heather (10/5): Authentic, warm and effortless this hotel made us feel like we were being taken care of in someone’s home in Quito. - This boutique hotel was a gem! Located in the heart of Quito’s historic Old Town, it felt incredibly secure and welcoming. Breakfast with Lucia was a daily highlight, she serves a traditional Ecuadorian meal and shares stories and culture with it. The young couple running the hotel went above and beyond for us. They booked us cars, dinner reservations and private tours. Their hospitality made our trip seamless and unforgettable. Everything was handled with care and perfection. If I “had to” pick something and it’s so small… the bathroom towels were a bit stiff.

- 1209estherk (10/5): Amazing hotel - elevated our stay in Quito! - Staying at this hotel was a highlight of our trip. The hotel itself is a beautiful, historic building with a big courtyard in the middle of the hotel. The hotel has some placards that discuss its history which is always really cool. Our room was also really great, perfect size with a comfortable bed, nice bathroom and beautiful colonial style windows. The hotel right in the middle of the historic old town. We loved being able to walk to the basilica, independence plaza, etc and come back to the hotel multiple times a day. Despite being in such a bustling place it was remarkably quiet at night. It also felt like a safe area and they kept the door locked so there was no chance of someone random walking in. The owners were amazing. They were very accommodating and arranged for our ride to and from the airport, even when it was very late. They gave us recommendations for things to see and places to eat and were very kind. The complimentary breakfast was also delicious and kept us full. It feels so nice to go to a familiy-owned hotel rather than a big chain. We are recommending this place to all our friends and will definitely stay here again when we come back to Quito!

And just an easy block and a half walk from the Plaza Grande; what more could you ask for? looking hard to find something to fault, the only thing I can think of is that the showerhead was a little difficult to reach in order to direct the flow of water. I hope that Lucia and her son Luis will be there to welcome me when I next visit their fair city.

- silarem (8/5): Good stay, great service - We stayed for two nights, we were arriving very late and coordinated the airport pickup with the hotel ($35 for 3 people). Despite our delayed flight, our driver waited for us and drove us to the Centro Histórico, about an hour from the airport. Upon arrival, the driver called the hotel, and they promptly opened the doors, gave us our keys, and allowed us to complete the formal check-in in the morning (nice touch!). Keep in mind there are several sets of stairs, which might be challenging for those with mobility issues or heavy luggage. We reserved two rooms—a double and a single. Both had plenty of hot water, and the WiFi worked well. The breakfast was unique—an employee would explain the fruit of the day and serve fresh juice made from it. They also offered additional fresh fruit with granola, plus your choice of eggs, tea, or filtered coffee. They reserved a specific table for our party and were particularly attentive when one of us experienced altitude sickness. The internal patio was lovely. The location was excellent. When l stepping out of the hotel, heading left, you could reach the Basílica Nacional del Voto but before getting there taking another right would lead you to a nice fruit market with plenty of inexpensive local food options. I noticed the stores and restaurants to the left of the hotel (away from the Plaza Grande) were less touristy. The hotel is also very close to Plaza Grande and steps from Palacio Arzobispal—in fact, you can take a shortcut through the Palacio Arzobispal to reach Plaza Grande. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay at a great price.
- Denise (10/5): Quaint Old Town family-run small hotel, charming, historical, very good value. - Host owner family was very warm and helpful, Old Town style made the stay authentic, safe location near Plaza Grande and good shops and restaurants, rustic style but clean and comfortable, all the basic amenities, wonderful breakfast, felt like stepping back in time in a lovely way.
- Stephanie (6/5): Great location, room was poor - The people that work there are amazing and helpful. Location is perfect and hotel overall was cute. Breakfast is included and it is served by this wonderful woman Lucia. She is so nice and explained all of the food I was going to eat and the cultural significance behind some of the fruit. Before she explained, she asked if I spoke Spanish and I said a little. She spoke to me in Spanish, but she spoke slow and clear and used basic words so I could understand. Amazing!! No one does that. Unfortunately my room was gross. It was an interior room that was very musty when I walked in and the sheets/comforter was stained. There were no windows to air it out and no fan. The towels were also crunchy. I am not a bougie person, but those towels were literally hard and crunchy. The room itself was clean and had enough space. I had a room with 2 twin beds and I used 1 bed for my open suitcase and other items as I normally do. When I came back later in the day, I found all of my items moved off the bed onto a bench in the room. 1 bed was clearly slept in while the other was not. Why would you move my stuff when nothing on the bed needs to be changed or fixed? Most hotels don't change the sheets during your visit, so what were you doing? I have NEVER had that happen before. Nothing was taken or destroyed but I do not like people touching my stuff. When I left, some random creepy guy grabbed my suitcase from me and brought it downstairs for me. Nice, but I do not know who that was.

Wonderful breakfast with an enthusiastic and useful introduction of the different fruit juices every morning. Great recommendation on restaurants too! Because of building architecture, you will hear a bit of the morning staff working. Didn't bother us at all.

The breakfasts were tasty and informative It was not clear that there are rooms without windows to the outside (only to an inner court, which is an indoor space). When we got such a room, we asked to change to a room that had a window to the outdoor. The owners did not offer us such a room without an extra payment.
- Brad (10/5): We truly enjoyed staying here. We will stay again. - This historic and beautifully preserved building is centrally located in historic downtown. With a small shop on the 1st street level floor stairs lead up to a beautiful large lobby that has local items for sale like backpacks and handbags. The building has three additional floors with the rooftop being a smoking area with a gorgeous view (especially at night) of the churches. The staff are very friendly, helpful and bilingual. At breakfast the staff give a history lesson on the fruit of the day. We were lucky to be there during Carnival as parades marched under our balcony on the street below us. A real treat. The only thing anyone should know is because the building is historic, like most buildings in the city, this isn’t handicap accessible. If you have trouble walking up stairs you need to plan accordingly. But again, most of the buildings in the city are not accessible for those with mobility disabilities.

The location was fantastic, the hotel is in the historic area and is just a few short blocks from the plaza grande. The staff was friendly, especially Lucia at the front desk who gave us lots of information and recommendations. The breakfasts in the morning felt very authentic and the staff took time to explain the different Ecuadorian foods. The room itself was very cute and the hotel felt very secure. Would definitely recommend!

Lucia took care of us in the kitchen. They have excellent security with 2 locked entries. We felt very safe here. The security does make it hard as they have to let you up, but a minor inconvenience. The balcony is small, but you can leave the door open while resting to see the main street.

- PhilyAreaTraveler (10/5): Old colonial building just a couple blocks from Plaza Grande and historic district - Casa Hotel Las Plazas is a charming, fairly immaculate, small hotel near the historic district in Quito. The location is superb! It has only about a dozen or so guest rooms, rambling between two covered plazas. It used to be the residence of a prominent Ecuadoran politician. The rooms are very well-kept and appointed with most things you would want. There is plenty of hot water, comfortable beds, and lovely tiling. The plumbing is old, so you can't put toilet paper in the toilets (as elsewhere in Latin America). The staff are gracious, accommodating, and professional. One spoke excellent conversational English and was easy to communicate with via WhatsApp and email. The rest of the staff had limited English, so a little Spanish is helpful, although not essential. The free breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The lovely hostess educated us about Ecuadoran cuisine as we were treated to various unfamiliar fruits and juices. There is some petty crime in downtown Quito, and the hotel keeps the door to the street closed and locked most of the time. That means you're stuff is super safe, but it also means you have to buzz them in order to get in when you return to the hotel. It was never a problem for us, but if you arrive unannounced, don't be surprised by the big locked door on the street. We stayed just one night and explored Quito during the day. We had a great time and encountered only mild nuisances in this lively, historic, and friendly city!

Extremely good service and excellent staff, always very service minded. Very good location as well in the heart of the Old Town of Quito. The breakfast was really excellent, a pleasure to eat breakfast there. I can really recommend Casa Hotel Las Plazas!!

They greeted us at the door around 1:30am, helped us with our bags and with portable lighting. Ecuador was having rolling power outages. In the morning Lucia greeted us with her warm smile and served us a delicious breakfast explaining the source of the local fruits.

Lucia and the staff were so accommodating and friendly and go out of their way for whatever you need. The location is great, just a block or two from all the main sites. We always felt safe and enjoyed being able to pop into our room whenever we needed a break from touring. Breakfast, along with Lucia's explanations of juices and Ecuadorian traditions, was fabulous. Breakfast is excellent and staff will organize rides, help with tours,etc. The time we stayed, government shuts off electricity from 8pm to 8am due to a shortage across the country. Staff accommodates with fluorescent lights. This is a great value and historic building.

- Happiness27070598043 (10/5): Lovely hotel, in perfect location, incredibly hospitable. - Marvelous hotel in the middle of the historic district, just a block from the main plaza and just a few blocks from the major cathedrals and basilica. The owner, Lucia, was amazingly hospitable, even going over the Ecuadorian fruit (vacaba) served at breakfast. They helped with cabs around town, cabs to and from the hotel (a long drive), and advice about restaurants. They even walked us to one of the restaurants we went to because it was a bit hidden on the square. Can’t say enough about how nice it was to spend time with them and the hotel is charming, clean, comfortable, in an incredibly good location. We’d certainly go back if we were in Quito.

The staff was always available and aware of your needs and safety, they show real interest in you having a great time. Breakfast was delicios and fresh, Lucia explained part of Ecuador's culture and I felt part of a tour there. I would definitely stay again.

The staff, particularly Lucia, are just amazingly friendly and helpful and can’t do enough for you. Breakfast is fantastic, with croissants, fruit salad, eggs and Lucia brings you a new juice every morning. Rooms are basic but very clean and tidy and serviced daily. Internet works brilliantly. Location is great being literally 5 minutes to the square and all the sights, yet is still quiet and i slept fantastically which is unusual for me. Can’t recommend this place enough.

The staff are very friendly and eager to help. On the day of our arrival, the city center was closed for a sporting event, and they sent personnel to pick us up several blocks from the hotel and help move our belongings.

The staff was fabulous, without exception -- they set up transportation from the airport, served amazing breakfasts and kept the room spotless. Their location is superb, in the Old Town area a couple of blocks from the plazas, churches and restaurants that are in everyone's guidebook. In addition to tasty eggs and rolls, our host for breakfast gave us fruits and juices from Ecuador which were completely new to us and she explained how and where they were grown. You got an education in addition to a good meal. The hotel is family owned and operated and they do a superb job.

The room was intoxicatingly overwhelming with the smell of laundry chemicals. I immediately got a headache and was absolutely exhausted for days after I left. It was a little hard to breath in the room with how much chemical smell there was. Insanely overpowering. Even the toilet paper was coated with tons of smelly chemicals which was irritating.
