Guest Reviews
- Pauline (10/5): - Nice chalet in a lovely setting and conveniently located.
Very well equipped too.
- David (10/5): - Excellent accommodation. Could easily have 3 or 4 people staying..very quiet area walking distance to pubs and shops
- Pauline (10/5): Lovely chalet - Comfortable very well equipped chalet. The chalet had everything I needed - kitchen utensils, oven, microwave, toaster and kettle. Also tv. Comfortable bed too.
The setting is lovely right on the river bank and useful to have parking right next to the chalet. There was also some outdoor space and walks right from the chalet.
- Alexis (10/5): - Wonderful hosts, beautiful area, linens and cooking utensils provided, as well as a few tea bags and coffee sachets for a cuppa and a sit down when you arrive! easy self check in with amenable hosts. 10/15 min walk to the local high street, and ample parking space. a great self catering stay - does the job, i would happily recommend and stay again. thank you!
- Omar (8/5): - Overall good,the chalet need updating.
- Bruna (10/5): - It’s was very good that you can spend time together and make memories
- Chris (10/5): - As always, chalet was clean, tidy and comfortable. The surrounding is lovely and perfect for biking, kayaking and boating.
- Paul (4/5): - Property was dirty and smelly Had to clean ourselves. Ants infestation in the bathroom. Also you can hear the trains to by. It has so much potential, just needs better looking after.
Positive, it was close to the station and and regular links to central London and Cambridge.

- Vincent (10/5): - The setting is beautiful, and my hosts were lovely. Will definitely come again.
- Kerry (10/5): Beautiful location - Beautiful location near to station grant went above and beyond will book againe
- Patrick (10/5): Such a peaceful retreat - Stayed many times. Love the place. Restful after a Day's work.
New Bathroom, especially power shower, a treat.
- John (8/5): Great value for money - Great location, right beside canal opposite the canal cafe. Chalet although dated , it is comfortable, clean and has all that you need. Will definitely be looking at booking here again, it’s great value for money.
- Zoe (8/5): Chalet B - One Bedroom (Twin) - Chalet dated but very clean and well equipt.
Fabulous location and we sat outside on the decking frequently. Very close to a main trainline into London but we knew this as visiting friends having previously lived in Broxbourne. Didn't bother us.
Sofa not comfortable to sit & enjoy TV. Very hard. Only other negative was the twin beds. Despite the mattress toppers, the springs in the mattresses have gone. They do need replacing. Sadly we had an uncomfortable few nights sleep!
- Francis (10/5): - Fabulous place, beautiful surroundings.
Easy transport links.
- Glen (6/5): - Very well located ,near railway station.close to town
- mary (10/5): Clean, cosy and relaxing cabins - A lovely quiet spot by the water. Excellent, friendly communication.
The cabin was cosy and very clean. We really appreciated the addition of the fan in the warmer weather!
We did have an issue with the shower which is a bit of a faff but the staff were excellent and got it sorted, making sure we knew what to do (thank you Grant!). Location is handy for travelling into London yet felt like a rural retreat being next to the water. Kids loved the geese! The cabin is right next to the busy railway line which might bother some but we found that sound quite relaxing really and missed it once we were back home to our very rural silent setting!
- jennifer (10/5): Wonderful Visit! - Our family of three had a wonderful visit. Everything was just as described. Such a tranquil location. Would definitely visit again.
- Lisa (10/5): Beautiful stay - Stayed for a whole week. Property is warm, comfortable, clean and the owner is so helpful and freindly.. really recommend this place...what a beautiful place beside the river, wildlife was incredible and i will be staying here again for sure.. just perfect
- Hugh (10/5): Broxbourne Challets. - Good location quite apart from the trains which you soon get used to. Good value.
- Chris (10/5): - Chalets are basic but perfect for short stays and the location is great. 5 minutes to the station and the high street. Lots to do in the area if you like water based sports.
- John (10/5): - Great find
- James (10/5): A little slice of heaven - I couldn’t have really asked for a better stay. It was a little slice of heaven for me. The chalet reminded me of my childhood 80’s holidays which I loved. Right by the river, in a gorgeous location. I had the weather on my side, which always helps of course. Parking right next to the cottage. Key safe and a gate to close once you’re inside the little chalet complex. The train track behind the chalets didn’t bother me at all. The guys running the place were brilliant and their communication was great. Inside it had everything I needed. Fridge with a small freezer compartment, tv, microwave, cooker, kettle etc. but just sitting out on the deck by the river with a glass of red was absolutely bliss. I’ll definitely be coming back.
- Nathan (10/5): Spot on - Lovely , basic but has everything you could need and the location is amazing!! Booked for work digs Guy called me in the afternoon to give extra directions and waited around for me to arrive Will be stopping again when in the area !
- Jason (10/5): - Quite location. Near to the train station. Good basic accommodation, that had everything we needed.
- stephen (10/5): - perfect for somewhere to lay your head , nice and quiet by the river
- Rebbecca (10/5): Perfect for the price - So happy for the price was perfect. Yes the decor is a little dated but that didn’t effect our stay at all. Was so clean and cosy. The staff were amazing and so helpful. The location is amazing so much to do near by. Really happy and will definitely be returning
- Verified traveler (8/5): - tidy , compact , ideal for somewhere to rest , as i stayed in october i wasn't there for the weather , would be very pleasant in the summer ,only disappointing thing would be the location quite near the railway lines so quite a bit of noise , but did not spoil my stay , overall would definately return
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely little chalets, great location and tje staff are friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great helpful staff great walks and rides along the river with a few pubs in walking distance there is a nice cafe opposite and a kayak and bike hire place 2 minutes away we had a great time and being right on the river it was easy for fishing
- Maurice S. (10/5): Fantastic - Chalet was clean and more than adequate. Absolutely beautiful setting, staff were friendly and on hand for any requirements. A gem of a place, would love to return
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We have stayed here a few times and love it. The location is great. The staff friendly. We always feel welcome
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful location. Very nicely equipped cabin. Lovely stay thank you
- Linda (10/5): Peacefull and relaxing. - Love going to these chalets. So relaxing right next to the canal very peacefull.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Didn’t even get to check in.
Please see earlier reviews.
Appalling attitude from staff (rude, aggressive, argumentative and swearing at me in front of my children) on our arrival.
Used the threat of ‘well have a refund and go and stay somewhere else’ many times, including from very early on in the proceedings - knowing full well that accommodation was at a premium and that I had 2 young children and would be stuck.
Three young, aggressive male staff members - clearly they had the aim of getting rid of us which gave them one less chalet to clean / prepare.
Continuous insults and bad language until I had no option but to take the refund and leave.
This left us with nowhere to stay - 200 miles from home after a 4 hour car journey in half term.
As if the situation couldn’t get any worse, the staff have chosen to tell a pack of lies to the owner who posted a completely fictional response.
For the sake of clarity to all - not one word of it is true - I never asked for a single penny off, let alone ‘demanded a refund’. We were harassed by these aggressive individuals until we were forced to leave with nowhere else to stay.
So, if you want verbal harassment, aggressive and argumentative communication, verbal abuse and being called names, threats and being sworn at in front of your children, being left in the lurch when miles from home and then public lies about it all - this is the place for you.
Assuming you want none of those things - avoid at all costs.
- JulieGray (10/5): - We've been here three times now. The people are friendly. The cabins are cosy and the view is the best. We will be going again
- Karenbray (10/5): - Lots of canoeing boating cycling walking eating bird watching tranquility all on the door step and baby swans
- LaurenceWise (8/5): - Good location, everything was great really.Been here before & will definitely come back again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely location by the river. The staff were friendly and helpful.
- Laurence (8/5): - Very basic but really like the location.Amenities are good.Chalet was clean & tidy, comfortable beds.Basic but has everything you need. The only bad thing is having a railway track so close & trains going by every 5 to 10 mins!
- Paul (10/5): - Lovely place lovely area, peacefully and quiet after a tough day at work
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location next to the river, fabulous staff who really went out of their way to help me with all sorts of things that made my stay special, even out of hours, never had such brilliant, friendly staff when away (Grant). Can't wait to come again!!
- Sandrine (10/5): Fantastic atmosphere - I really enjoyed staying in this chalet, the people working there are amazing.Always smiling, very professional, and so helpful. The chalet was very clean, confortable apart for the mattress of the smaller room, but I will definitely come back and I will recommend it.Thank you so much to the staff who works there.Sandrine
- Sian (10/5): A hidden gem - The chalet was cosy, comfortable and in a good state of repair. I was able to park my car right next to the chalet. Cutlery, cooking utensils and other kitchen essentials were provided, including a pint of milk! The staff on-site were friendly and informative, plenty of information about the local area was provided and the view over the river was beautiful (what better way to start the day than being greeted by a family of swans!) Excellently priced and in my opinion, more bang for my buck than I would have got at a hotel costing double the price. The only slight negative was the train tracks behind the site, but soon got used to the noise and it didn't detract from the experience. Highly recommended, would definitely stay again.
- Mark (8/5): Great weekend - Great location for family orientated activities. More of a warm weather holiday but wasnt uncomfortable and the staff were very kind and helpful.
- David (10/5): Great place to stay - Great friendly staff
- Jacki (10/5): Hidden gem - A great place to visit with family, waterside location, boating , bikes, gray parkland . Owner really helpful and friendly
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent hideaway! - Excellent stay, peace and tranquility. Looking forward to returning soon
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely spot and decent facilities. - Lovely location - the chalet is good value and reasonably comfortable. It's not a hotel bed but I slept well. Decent TV, nice kitchenette and everything I needed was there. Perfect for a morning run, evening walks / bike rides down the river. Bed and bathroom were a little dated but fine for my purposes.
- Alan (8/5): Nice digs - As a contractor this was great, all equipment in working order, clean comfortable and a nice decking area just outside the door with the river a few yards away. Recommended.
- Michael (10/5): Really excellent place to stay. - Really lovely place to stay. Very friendly staff and accomodation was clean and tidy. I have booked in several more stays and am looking forward to it.
- Samantha (10/5): Home from home - Amazing location, perfect for walks and cycling. Second visit there and definitely will not be the last!!
- M M (8/5): Riverside chalet - A friendly and helpful welcome - my host picked me up from the station! The chalet was warm and comfortable and very peaceful over the Christmas period, though the trains could be noisy at other times. The facilities were good except the bathroom which needs attention ..
I would happily stay there again.

- D (10/5): Delightfuil chalet by the river. - A uniquely different overnight or week long stop. Setting and convenience is outstanding. We were there in cold misty weather and it was charming and cosey after a while. Lovely warm bed.
