- Sheila (9/5): Excellent would go there again. - Excellent breakfast, plenty of choice and service with a smile! Lovely room with own entrance off the street to cater for dissabilities. Nothing at all. Every thing was good.
- anna c (9/5): Gorgeous location and hotel with a wonderful friendly atmosphere - Great location for our stay, lovely village. Well laid out clean hotel with a good breakfast in the morning. Warm and welcoming staff. There were stairs to go up to our room, which could prove challenging for some. Other than that I could not really fault it.

- Kathleen (10/5): Excellent accommodation, friendly and helpful staff, excellent position in the Forest of Dean - Breakfast was sumptuous ! It is pre booked each day for a particular time therefore little waiting time. Coffee (or tea etc) arrives very speedily. The food is excellent and plentiful. Nothing

- Mike (10/5): A lovely evening - Nice and friendly
- Voigt (9/5): Superb -
- Kath (9/5): Lovely pub stay. - Spacious, cosy, clean ,warm bedroom. Plenty of hot water. Good breakfast included in the price. We ate our evening meal in the bar which was delicious and good value for money. Staff were friendly and efficient. We would stay again. Our bed was a double bed. However, I prefer a 5 ft bed. A minor thing.
It's a shame that there is no real fire in the bar. It would add even more character to the pub.
- Wendy (10/5): Exceptional - Everyone was friendly and welcoming

- Carol (9/5): Lovely inn in a fantastic location - Fantastic location with clean, bright and spacious rooms.
Lovely touches in the room, tea, biscuits and toiletries and lovely evening meals. Double bed a bit ‘creaky’ and the bar shut before 11.
- David (9/5): We’ve stayed before, we will stay again! - Great location in the Forest of Dean near RSPB Nagshead. Really nice rooms with comfy bed and good bathroom with bath tub. Easy parking. Good pub food and selection of beers. No EV charging points.
- Nicholas P (10/5): Nice - Nice
- Lisa (8/5): Stay was lovely. Food was really good. - Lovely location. Room was spacious and comfortable It would have been nice to have a small fridge so we could have fresh milk.
- David (8/5): - The only small problem o had was that the lid on the toilet didn't stay up as the flush was put in a poor position. Also my cold tap didn't work.but these are minor problems.very comfortable foot very good beer very good, and Staff were very helpful and pleasant.
- Cynthia (10/5): A comfortable room in the forest. - Lovely evening meal of ham egg and chips Nice to have a bath to sooth aching legs. Also comfortable chair for everyone in our party. No bad comments.
- J (8/5): - Lovely , friendly inn - good beers and food
I would suggest a back bedroom as the road can become noisy from 4 am ish.
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Elaine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Malcolm (10/5): Memorable - far exceeded my expectations - thoroughly relaxing working weekend that added to my sense of wellbeing no en - Everything - from the welcome on Friday eve to the farewell on Sunday morning our party, intent on a solid conversational endeavour with full catering and accommodation requirements for the whole duration l, could not have been better treated. Michelle and her staff were wonderful - responding immediately and cheerfully to our every request - we had three visitors to add to the throng on Saturday who were equally warmly welcomed and fed and watered - food of the highest quality served piping hot and with all the trimmings.
Four of us stayed the two nights and the whole of Saturday we had a room to our selves to conference in. Again - teas, coffees and lunch etc served up swiftly and on time.
Cannot praise the service and the facilities and the surroundings highly enough. The Forest of Dean is a beautifully serene, atmospheric area with a quality, an ambience, all of its own - I love mixed woodland containing a wonderful mix of wildlife from wild boar to tawny owls, woodpeckers and kingfishers so maybe I’m biased.
Thoroughly relaxing weekend in which to do some serious reminiscing and plan the recording of our contribution to social history.
I hope to return before here later this year.
Meanwhile thank you. I cannot think of anything that I didn’t like - not one jot.
- Fiona (10/5): A gem of a find! - Very dog friendly, with amazing food and exceptionally friendly staff. The bed was too soft to be comfortable but tbh the positives far outweighed this
- Sauvik (9/5): Superb - Nothing specific No phone network available.
- Cynthia (10/5): - Great stay, cleanliness was second to none, dined in both evenings and the dinners were excellent.
Good choice of beer and wines at reasonable prices.
Just one small criticism, dining rooms and corridors and bedroom all on the chilly side, although there was an extra heater in our room, which we did have to use.
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
- Pe (9/5): Great for stopover in Parkend - Great little pub, excellent location. Good sized room with 4 post bed. Room felt chilly, but found an electric radiator in the wardrobe, which was perfect. Had evening meal in restaurant, which was excellent. Breakfast pre-ordered night before, so ready when we went down to eat. Staff very helpful and polite. Stairs are steep to room which need careful navigating. File alarm went off just after 7.45 am and was not sure if to evacuate, as it went off and on a couple of times
- Angela (9/5): Great stay! - Great location. Clean, comfortable room with friendly and helpful staff. Fresh milk available for drinks. Lots of choice for breakfast which was cooked to order. Great coffee! The shelf with the kettle was close to the bed so I banged my head a couple of times getting up. Duvet could have been a bit bigger-it was a tight fit for the size of bed. However these are minor tweaks to an otherwise great stay.
- Ian (7/5): Good -
- Keith (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (8/5): - Comfortable and friendly
- Paul (8/5): A very enjoyable stay. Would recommend and use again if in the area. - Excellent location for the purpose of our visit to the area. Comfortable warm room. Ample parking. Friendly welcome. Extremely good breakfast arrangements and quality of food. Quite a narrow steep staircase to gain access to our room which could be an issue for some people.
- Debbie (9/5): Superb -
- Joanna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Clive (9/5): Lovely room, friendly staff, great location, very good evening meal and breakfast. - Lovely room, friendly staff, great location, very good evening meal and breakfast. Highly recommended.
- John (8/5): Comfortable stay. - Comfortable rooms, ideally situated for exploring the local area, friendly staff on the whole, good food. Security light illuminating our room at night, although this was resolved by switching it off. It would have been nice if a member of staff had taken the trouble to us if everything was OK, at some point during our four night stay. While not essential, it would have been an appreciated gesture.
- Ricky (9/5): Nice clean B&B, food good, breakfast good, would recommend - Food good, staff excellent, clean throughout
- Joyce (9/5): Superb -
- Patricia (8/5): Very good - Ground floor room with good access
- Sue (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (9/5): Superb - Great b&b in a lovely pub. The food was superb and the staff were engaging and informative.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We stayed at The Fountain Inn for a few nights, and couldn't rate it highly enough! The bedrooms were comfortable and clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the food for both breakfast and dinner was great. We would definitely stay here again.
- Joe (9/5): Excellent Room, Location & Restaurant - Staff were very welcoming, the room was comfortable, large and with a good bathroom. There were plenty of power sockets and even USB sockets.
The breakfasts were nice and the manager was able to get me in to the restaurant at the last minute, even though it was already over subscribed for the evening. It was an excellent restaurant, lovely food, decent portions and reasonably priced.
All in all, loved it here. There was no part of this I didn't like.
- Christine (10/5): - Excellent stay, room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and food was delicious
- Marian (8/5): Very good -
- Chris (10/5): Great stay and would thoroughly recommend it - Friendly family boutique hotel with excellent food No fridge in room
- Chris (9/5): Great stay at the Fountain Inn, Parkend - Room and facilities were great. Very clean. Food was excellent. Would definitely go back and will recommend the Fountain Inn to others. Nothing to mention.
- Howes (10/5): Exceptional - Great breakfast.
- Terry (9/5): An excellent, comfortable Forest pub which was perfect for our short break. - Perfect location. Lovely pub atmosphere with excellent cask ales. Comfy and convenient ground-floor room (we had a dog.) Excellent staff and first-class service - nothing was ever too much trouble. Good varied menu for both breakfasts and evening meals with food served hot and fresh - the scrambled egg was perfect and the beef bourguignon superb. It's probably just a personal thing but I think pub food should be straightforward. Goujons in a little basket, chips (although excellent) served in a little tin and baked beans in a little separate dish are all examples of unnecessary fussiness. It makes the meal difficult to eat - and why we had a sprig of watercress on every plate, including breakfast, beats me!
- Brigitte (9/5): Great stay, excellent location. Highly recommended. - The oldest Pub/Inn in Parkend, traditional with modern touch. Very friendly owners & staff .
- Jolanta (10/5): Definitely will come back - Staff is wonderful Nothing
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful food great location. Amazing staff and location Nothing loved the whole stay
- Dean (9/5): Superb -
- John (10/5): This was a family run pub/B&B and it showed in the efficient and relaxed way everything was done. - Breakfast choices were excellent - something for everyone. The staff went out of their way to make you feel at home and were friendly and efficient.
- Linda (7/5): Lovely staff excellent food - Fantastic location Very small bed
- Linda (8/5): Great return to the Forest of Dean - Good location for the Forest of Dean. Ample parking. Good breakfast and evening meals. Friendly and helpful staff.
- Charles (8/5): Very welcoming and friendly -
- Graham (10/5): Exceptional - Large comfortable room, friendly helpful staff & superb food.
- Karen (7/5): Good -
- Vicki (9/5): Excellent, would go back. - Lovely location, and staff were really friendly. The breakfast was really nice with a good choice, and sensible serving times. We didn't eat dinner here but having a good range of dietary options was really good to see and reflected at breakfast too. This would encourage us to revisit. I also liked the dog friendly attitude too and so would consider bringing the dog next time.
I liked the history information in the room about the Inn, and the room had all the things you'd expect (toiletries, hairdryer etc). Pre-ordering breakfast has some advantages but the negatives are you are never sure what you might feel like the next day and so not my preference but appreciate why this is done.
- Kenneth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kenneth (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely included breakfast and excellent evening meals.
- Gillian (8/5): - The cleanliness was excellent. 5 Star
The beds comfortable.
Tea/coffee making facilities were provided as well as bottled water.
Toiletries were provided in the bathroom
There was an excellent choice on the breakfast menu which was very good.
I cannot comment on the standard of the cuisine as we didn't dine there in the evenings, due to having made other arrangements to visit a relative. However, I would have liked to, as the ambience, standard and choice of the cuisine at The Fountain was inviting.
I have mobility problems but was able to manage the stairs. However, for safety's sake I would recommend a handrail on the wall by the shower, which would be useful for any level of mobility.
The unusually hot weather meant that the bedrooms were very warm. There was no air conditioning but an electric fan was provided which helped a little in circulating the air.
I would definitely stay there again.
- Denise (9/5): Superb -
- Valerie (9/5): Great stay … fulfilled all our needs and expectations. Staff all very welcoming and friendly . - Breakfast very nice . Location great for Forest of Dean and local steam train . Don’t know

Great location for activities in the Forest. Best Sunday roast that I have had in a long time. Quiet room, even with the pub downstairs. Beds weren’t too comfortable, but it can be due to personal preferences.

Our room was standard, but the bathroom door was so cute. Dogs allowed! Our bed was quite creaky, no other complaints.
