Guest Reviews
- John (10/5): - Location
Views
- THOMAS (5/5): - location stove and dishwasher did not work.
- Bernie (10/5): Highly recommend if you’re looking for a tranquil place to stay - Great view of the harbour, easy to get into and quiet The room and floor was quite cool on arrival as the heat was turn down quite low but warmed up through the evening
- Anne (10/5): - Great location and views
- Robert (10/5): This place has everything you need for your vacation - This place was amazing great location a wonderful place to stay I would highly recommend it you will not be disappointed Nothing
- Alex (10/5): Will definitely do again, recommended to friends. - View and size of the room. Also had a lichen and washer/dryer. First rate accommodation! Washing machine spin cycle kept restarting. Relatively minor complaint.
- Heather (8/5): - It had a fantastic view. Nice and roomy. The only thing I would recommend is fluffier pillows and a foam topper. Found the bed not so soft. Everything else was perfect
- Alexander (10/5): - Beside a fish plant, however if you are staying in ucluelet you shouldn’t be afraid of that. Plus it brought lots of sea lions which give you a nice show multiple times a day. The room itself was incredible and the town is quiet and cute. Loved it all!!
- Michelle (10/5): - We will definitely be back!
- Debra (10/5): - Whiskey Landing was perfect for our 5 night stay on the West Coast. Walk into the building and you take in the beautiful cedar smells and feels like you are in the forest. The views from our suite were beautiful, watching the fishing boats leave and return and the seals pop up now and again. The building was very quiet, bed comfortable and lots of kitchen supplies provided. Lots of restaurants, cafes, grocery, and artisan stores within walking distance. Tofino is about 30 min away and we also enjoyed all the Pacific Rim parks between Ucluelet and Tofino. We would definitely stay here again.
- Patricia (5/5): Nice apartment, wish we checked google earth for surroundings - The apartment itself was very nice. The surrounding area—the extremely unpleasant odor
- Carla (10/5): - Black Rock was in good condition and provided all needed convenience services. Great water view.
- guenter (9/5): - Tolle Lage und Aussicht, gut erreichbar, bequeme parkmöglichkeit An heissen Tagen im Schlafzimmer stickig, da kein Fenster zu öffnen ist, wasserdichter hat nicht funktioniert
- Lisa (10/5): - Beautiful place, excellent views, central to so many things to see. Nice to have a comfortable spot with the amenities of home, including laundry, as a home base from which to roam and explore.
- Frederick (10/5): - Peaceful !
- Lisa (10/5): - Cozy home away from home with great views and thoughtful amenities. Such a nicely appointed apartment. We loved our stay. The only problem is the very thin walls that allow you to hear everything going on in the suite below you. Not fun when you are above screaming children. Residents were respectful of quiet hours (9pm-8am) though which was appreciated.
- Eran (10/5): - The view is breathtaking and the property was amazing and comfortable. Exactly what we were looking for.
Thank you and see you on future vacations.
- Chela (7/5): Beautiful views and wildlife from the living room windows but noisy. - We liked the space and the views. We especially loved watching the bald eagles hovering over the harbor. We also liked the easy access to various eateries in the area. We enjoyed the Farmers Market across the street. A small child with a shrill voice can be heard nearby, perhaps in the next door unit. The child also played with the elevator button as it made a dinging noise. Voices echoed in the hallway. Loud noise could also be heard on the harbor at night. The harbor stays open at night. We will choose another location next year.
- Diane (10/5): - It was a lovely room and easy to get to from the parking lot! We had a wonderful stay!
- Diane (10/5): - It was a beautiful room in a gorgeous location! We had a terrific stay!
- Robert (10/5): - Such a beautiful building right on the water where you could see seaplanes taking off and landing, kayakers, working boats etc. the unique architecture is spectacular and one of a kind! Full amenities available!
- Barry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bradley C (10/5): - Super location with a great view of the bay.
- Sally (10/5): - Fabulous property and beautiful views.
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Views and architectural design were outstanding. Lighting was an issue (especially in the master closet there was none) and sofa was uncomfortable - just minor suggestions otherwise was outstanding.
- Cathy (10/5): Outstanding! - What a beautiful place to stay that made you feel like you were at home, from the location to the many things inside that made it cozy. After a long day of hiking and exploring, we were always thrilled to open that front door and settle in. We would definitely stay there again. Highly recommend.
- Pam (10/5): Perfect! -
- John (10/5): - We loved every thing about this property..fabulous views. Everything we needed for our 3 night stay. Very clean and comfortable. Would highly recommend this property.
- Judith (10/5): A perfect place to stay! - It was an excellent condo with more comforts than home! It looked out at the water in a good location in town. A very special place!
- Jeannine (10/5): - We had an amazing time at the property. Close to the everything. Great communication with the owner.
- Shelly (10/5): Exceptional - The view was amazing!!
- Sheila (10/5): - Beautiful property and excellent location!
- Tom (10/5): - A first-class property to be recommended.
- Kevin (6/5): Almost a Disaster! - We hand driven many hours from the U.S. and is was Friday night. We were told we would be provided access info prior to our arrival. That did not happen!
The property manager did not provide apartment number or the two key codes to get in both doors for access. She did not respond to text, email or calls. Could not leave a message because it was full. After hours of trying to contact someone by sheer luck another guest pointed us to a couple responsible for cleaning the rental. They advised the property manager was on vacation and they had also been unsuccessful in trying to reach her. After we showed them our reservation verification, they gave us the codes to get in. The next day the property manager contacted us, apologized and stated she would pay for our dinner. We shall see if she follows through. Could of been a disaster.
Everything else about the property was wonderful!
- Wendy (10/5): - Loved the space and windows to watch the boats outside
- Anda (10/5): - Firstly, the town of Ucluelet is charming. Staying a Black Rock Landing - a beautiful, spacious, and well situated condo overlooking the water expanded the experience to another level. The building is architecturally interesting and the space is very high quality on all levels - from the furniture, to kitchen, to living details. The balconies are entertaining as they oversee the wharf. The only criticism - the sofabed is uncomfortable. Otherwise the linens were very high quality. We truly enjoyed our living experience and the stunning location!
- Cynthia (8/5): Lovely condo on the water - Overall, a great stay. The condo was lovely and had a beautiful view of the harbour. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you need, and lots of extra bedding if you need.
- Brenda (10/5): Heaven away from home! - What breakfast? We made our own. The only thing we didn't like was that only two very tiny windows opened to let fresh air inside when it was HOT! Only one of those two windows had a screen on it. We had to chase a wasp around and finally killed it. Having one extension cord would help because the lack of plugs. We wanted to move the Fan next to the only open window to get airflow. We ended up using two of your plug in power supplies together in order to get the length we needed. I think propane BBQ to use would be a bonus. I understand the decks are too tiny but perhaps a "shared BBQ" would be awesome! These are minor. We really had zero complaints!!! Loved the view loved all the convinces! Felt like home!!!!
- Keith (10/5): - Great accomadation....just like a home from home. My partener really enjoyed the jet tube. It was interesting watching the fishing boats arriving & delivering there catches. Very quiet with excellent views.
- Shaun (10/5): Comfortable, very clean with beautiful vista - Everything! Comfortable, very clean, beautiful vista and location good for exploring the local area Nothing to dislike
- Paul (6/5): - Liked:
- water views
- well stocked kitchen
- two bathrooms
- elevator to suite
Disliked:
- no window in the bedroom that could be opened, which we thought was not only unsafe in the event of a fire but also left the room very warm at night. (The window facing the deck should be an egress window for safety.)
- only way to get any air in the suite was to open the only two windows in the living room or the doors to the patios, it rained during the night so the windows had to be closed which left the suite very warm and stuffy.
- there were a few window that had broken seals and so the condensation made them difficult to look through.
- limited bed pillows, would have been nice to have a couple more available, I asked about that but no response from the owner
- no bar soap for the shower
- very poor lighting in every room
- noisy, paper thin walls, we could hear the people staying in the suite below, one night the talking woke us up at 1:30 am, we tolerated it, it happened again the next night around the same time so I banged on the wall and fortunately they stopped.
- overall the suite could use some window maintenance and updated lighting
- Bernadette (10/5): - Gorgeous condo with everything you need: well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, washer and dryer and fabulous view of the Inlet and fishermen’s dock.
- Peggy-Jo (10/5): - Amazing 180 degree view of Ucluelet harbour!
Well appointed apartment for a romantic getaway…would highly recommend for couples (not suitable for toddlers).
Great communication from owner Barb made an easy in/out experience.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The space itself is amazing. The architecture is interesting, the views are beautiful, the bed is comfy, and the place is generally well outfitted. There were two small downsides, though. The walls and floors are very thin so if there are noisy neighbors, you will hear them — also the elevator, the fire doors, basically everything. The place could also have been a little cleaner and better maintained. Nothing terrible, but there was some mold in the bathroom, the sheets were so pilled they felt sandy, and some of the bedding had hairs.
- Andrea (10/5): - Great location, interesting architecture, great west coast vibe!
- Andrew (10/5): - Wonderful place and location. Had a great stay
- Karen (10/5): - very comfortable and well equiped. Great view of fascinating harbour. We have visited 3 times and will be back.
- Reid (6/5): Lovely view. Close to Tofino. - The location was beautiful. The kitchen was nice. It had one bedroom and one pullout couch. It was nicely decorated. I did not like the fact that you could not open any window in the bedroom.
- Deborah (8/5): Beautiful views and comfortable beds. Walking distance to several restaurants and businesses. - The company is black rock, nowhere did it say Whiskey Landing bit that was the name of the building and could not get ahold of anyone to confirm right place on arrival. Also with the heat and so many windows the place was very warm, needs more than 1 fan and screens to the deck so they can stay open and not let the mosquitos in. Overall the place was clean but in the main bath built up lint and dust in the corners of the floor.
- Winston (7/5): Good - Location was excellent. It appears that the facilities were built to house commercial residents and not as an apartment or condo. The interior and exterior layout was very nice. The kitchen and bathrooms were laid out well. In all the facilities appeared to be new and very accommodating. Blankets and linens were plentiful. Parking spot was great. No A/C. No windows can be opened. No screens on windows. Only one fan provided. Patio decks were very small and could really hold one chair. The window shades did not keep the sunlight out during the long nights. The hot water pot was burnt inside, probably from too much coffee/tea being boiled. Needed more ice trays. We had difficulty finding the outside trash bin. Room 302 was next to the elevator which made significant noise when opening/closing.
- Barak (8/5): Very good - Amazing place, beutiful lication, well equiped. No internet or wfi.
A very big problem.
- Cheryl (8/5): Didn’t want to leave - Loved loved the feel, decor, location and views - so peaceful and tranquil Only issue was dirty water which caused a 24 hr period that we couldn’t bathe but owner helped solve the issue and it was okay in the end
- Gerco (9/5): Fantastic location. Great appartement for 2. - Great view! Expensive for a couple.
- Christopher (6/5): An underwhelming property. - The view from the apartment was good. The washer and dryer were very handy. Location was close to shops. The apartment was not clean. The cloth couches were very grubby and so we had to turn the cushions over before we would use them. Leather couches would be much more serviceable. There were many cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. The kitchen was so dark that even with the lights on, we had to use the phone flashlight. It is a rundown building with the dumpster greeting you at the entrance. The odour from the fish plant next door was most unpleasant. There was only one very small window which could be opened. Whilst the apartment was very light, the blinds on the bedroom windows were inadequate and so the apartment could not be blacked out for sleeping. Black Rock Ocean Front Resort is in a much nicer location and appears to be in much better condition if you plan to stay in Ucluelet.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place with incredible views
- Allison (10/5): - Loved our stay! Thank you!
- Amanda (10/5): - What a great property not only dog friendly but its a dog friendly town so many places didn't need to leave our guy once alone. Easy check in and what a view!
- Charlotte (10/5): - We loved staying at Black Rock Landing. A lovely spacious apartment with amazing views. Great location, plenty of parking and near all the local restaurants and food shop. Had all the amenities we needed. Would happily stay again. Many thanks.
- Tim (10/5): - This place is probably the best short term rental in the town. The owner has great taste. The property manager has a great communication skill, and the cleaning people are excellent. The pictures are great the place is better.
- Tanya (10/5): Perfect! - My husband and I booked unit 302 for an anniversary getaway and absolutely loved having this beautiful retreat to come back to and the end of each day!
- Randall (8/5): - Great view and architecture.
- Nicole (8/5): Very good -
- Kathleen (10/5): - It is a beautiful location and property. The kitchen is well stocked and the space is wonderful. We are hoping to return annually for years to come.
- Paul (10/5): - The openess.
Could use a portable luggage rack in the closet.
- KORINNE (8/5): - Wonderful place to stay!!! Great location and well kept. Two minor criticisms that might not matter to anyone else, is there isn’t a lot of space to unpack and I wish you could open the windows. Other than that, perfection.
- Pierre (10/5): - Fantastic place with a fantastic view!
- Tiffany (9/5): Fabulous accommodations! - Amazing property! Fully stocked, extremely clean,. Loved that we had laundry facilities! Nothing, everything was excellent!
- kimberly (8/5): - A very charming interior space with lots of wood and light. Nearby fish factory to the north is a problem for smell if the wind is wrong. All windows are sealed and no air conditioning is a problem on hot days . Balcony doors are only way to try to cool the condo. I’d suggest adding AC which would control both the smell and heat problem.
- Dave (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): - Gorgeous view! Wildlife right at your doorstep. Close proximity to beautiful hiking trails.
- Darryl (10/5): - On and overlooking the Ukey dock across from the Aquarium. Easy access and free parking. Great amenities!
- Shelley (10/5): - This unit is amazing! Thank you so much for sharing.
- John (10/5): So good we didn't want to leave this suite! - Unit 301 at Black Rock Landing in Ucluelet was AMAZING! Gorgeous space with gorgeous surroundings and views. Seals swimming in the ocean out the windows, fishing boats, mountain views and sounds of the island all without stepping out of the suite! Just wonderful. The suite is gorgeous and well stocked with supplies, a fully functioning kitchen, laundry, and a cozy gas fireplace!!!
Anything you'd need within walking distance as well. We booked here strategically to be in a "nicer" place close to Tofino but found Ucluelet itself quaint and worth exploring as well. We loved it so much we definitely plan on returning! Barb was very responsive to any communications which was also, very much appreciated. :)
One note, the suite is quite large and has solid floors throughout, so I'd recommend taking some slippers and/or cozy socks and maybe even your favourite fluffy blanket or two if travelling in the winter months. That's the only thing I would have prepared differently for had I known. Other than that our trip and stay, really were perfection. Only a 30-45 min drive to Tofino and some amazing seaside stops not to miss along the way!
WE ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!
- Bernadette (10/5): - The condo is beautiful. We liked the large well-equipped kitchen with bar stools, very comfortable furnishings and is tastefully decorated with crafts and hanging pictures. We really liked stargazing through the skylights in the bedroom. It is conveniently located near shops and restaurants, and on the water next to a working fisherman's dock. We enjoyed seeing sealions, seagulls, eagles and a nice view of the town from our deck. The condo is right next to an elevator and you can hear noises from the street but it is very quiet in during the night. The only suggestions: Provide bar soap and coordinate the check in-time to accommodate highway opening at 3 pm.
- Terrence (10/5): - Watching the harbor activity
- Theresa (10/5): - Amazing views, stocked kitchen and great communication. Will definitely be back!!
- Aurel (10/5): - The property is perfectly located on the water, next to a working fisherman's dock, with lots of coming and goings, in a good way. Watched seals journey up and down the sound. Enjoyed the very comfortable and tastefully decorated apartment, with all the necessary amenities. Pricey, but ultimately very enjoyable stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Unique all glass window surround with forested mountain and Ucluelet fishing harbour views.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Best location and lots of views. Loved the comfortable king bed and well stocked kitchen. Will be back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice view on the bay and the harbour.
- Dorritta (10/5): Wonderful place! - The place was beautifully set-up and thoughtfully supplied. The location is gorgeous and central. We had a great visit! Thank you!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great place to stay! - We stayed here for 4 nights and it was lovely, we will be back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Really cool space with beautiful view of the harbour and the mainland.
- Louise (10/5): - Very beautiful suite with a lovely ocean view. well equipped with everything we needed. Great location, close to shopping, dining and nature trails.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing views from condo with excellent amenities . Home away from home. Will be returning !
- Kim (10/5): - Quiet, clean, artsy, close to amenities. Great communication with property manager/owner. Highly recommend.
- Jarec (10/5): - One of the best places to stay while out on the Tofino side of the island. Quieter and fewer tourists than in Tofino but with just as much to see and do. Second time staying at the Black Rock Landing and it won’t be our last.
- Rhona (8/5): West Coast Gem in Ucluelet - Absolutely beautiful spot on the ocean, close to everything wonderful that Ucluelet has to offer. The unit has everything you need for a comfortable stay and a fully equipped kitchen. Don’t forget to bring your own toiletries and shower wash, but everything else is provided. Just loved our 4 day getaway there, no other property can compare!
