Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Helpful staff, good English speaker great breakfast, smart numerical lock system for security
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Super accueil! Très bien situé! Très sympathique!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great service and communication from staff! The administrator made sure to message me information and even recommendations on where to eat and how to get there.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Jamie and Stephanie communicated regularly leading up to our stay, answering questions and scheduling taxi transport from Juan, who came to be our trusted friend during our 2 different stays at Los Andes. The location was very good, the property is very secure, clean and excellently maintained, beds comfortable, we had a hot water problem which Jamie fixed. Very accommodating hosts for our Quito stay!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Muy buena la atención de Stephanie y Carlos Bueno el desayuno.
- bonifacio jr (10/5): amazing equador - amazing! the staff are super friendly
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very good breakfast. Convenient location. Hotel pickup was a nice touch, even though our flight was 3 hours late.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great staff and location. A little noisy at night with street traffic. Secure and safe spot. Room was spotless but odd odor permeated bathroom possibly from floor drain. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Esto es lo mejor de quito lo amamos bien lindo y una a tensión personalizada Gracias

If you are staying in Quito, this is where you want to stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent - Excellent! Very modern, clean, comfortable, safe, close to Quito highlights, great amenities including kitchenette, filling and delicious breakfast, excellent communication, easy access with electronic code, and a great host who helped us plan our days and transport. Highly recommend this gem!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Carlos makes all the difference. He is the best host ever. He always goes the extra mile to make the guests happy. Thank you Carlos, very much appreciated!
Breakfast is excellent.
Although the size of our studio was small, it had everything that we needed. The sofa bed not that comfortable for sleeping ... but that's OK and expected.
- J (10/5): - The staff of this inn is what makes it great! They allowed a very early check-in, walked me through key and security code items, and provided a snack! It was a great stay! Highly recommend
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We liked the location, the comfortable bed, the breakfast, the lovely staff, and how the owners helped us get to and from the airport. Also their nice reliable taxi driver was so pleasant for the airport runs and a side trip. Be sure to ask for a map so you can find your way around the old town. It is very nice to explore, especially on the weekends when buskers, musicians, dancers , artisans are out.
- Nolan (8/5): Value for money - Reasonable location but a little bit foggy at night. Close to la Ronda so great for food and entertainment at night.
Key locks for both front and room door so really handy.
Great inner courtyard.
Quiet other than 1st floor wood creaking due to walking.
Spacious room with two double beds. Bathroom good size but hot water a bit temperamental.
Breakfast was ok- basic, didn’t like the coffee but get packed breakfast for early trips.
Great staff, washing and drying facilities as well as kitchen for other meals.
Great stay other than minor issues.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious. Breakfasts were very good. Reliability of the hot water in the shower was an issue.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice, well situated next to Plaza Santo Domingo , within walking distance of all parts of Historic Quito..
Even if we arrived early , as the room was available , we were allowed to use it , so we didn't lose our first day in Quito….
For our last day , as we had a late flight , we were aqain allowed to leave our luggage in a locked room and to use the common living room with TV , to wait for Taxi pick up. ...Not all hotels would accomodate travellers that way !!!
Breakfast excellent . front rooms with view on street, welle decorated..
Personnel , two young women, smiling , nice and accomodating.
We were impressed.
- Luis Renato (6/5): Nice room, shower was a nightmare - The room was comfy, clean, tidy, beautiful. Staff was kind. However, the shower was a nightmare. The water flow was really poor and I had to choose between boiling or cool water. They were impossible to mix. I warned the owner and she told me someone was coming to fix it, but they didn't come in time. I had to have shower sitting on the floor in order not to be burned. I also had problems with breakfast. I asked early breakfast for two days, and they forgot to provide it in the second one.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Family Run Place in the Old Town - Excellent! Couldn't recommend enough. Every morning, you get a custom delicious breakfast made in a family type setting, meeting other travelers. The room is very spacious and the extra plug-in heater was definitely needed one of the nights. The only down sides were there were some issues with the main door opening properly and the sound proofing was not that great (could hear some neighbors having a good time), but very minor things compared to everything else. Close to Calle de La Ronde and the Plaza's. The arranged taxi was on time and very nice.
- Mark (10/5): - I really appreciate the host for maintaining such a beautiful and cozy place right at the center of Quito's old town.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great communication- our second stay - but information provided regarding arrival- door codes and taxi arrangements. Room very clean and good breakfast. Allowed to leave our bags in day of departure. Good WiFi.
- Hazel (10/5): - Great communication. Good breakfast. Very friendly. Clean spacious room. Organised taxi - Juan - to pick us up from airport- also a trip to equator.
Good location for old city. But not safe to wander at night after dark. Very quiet.
Would definitely recommend.
- Hubert (10/5): - Absolutely a lovely property in the heart of the historic district. Friendly staff and wonderful security at the property.
- Antonio (10/5): Nice place - The staff are very approachable and professional. Nice place.
- Laura (10/5): - The room was very comfortable and we appreciated the common area with tea available. We were also able to leave our bags all day and hang out in the common area during the night before our late flight. Nikki was very helpful with suggestions and with answering questions.
- Alex (10/5): Home away from home in old town Quito - Home away from home in old town Quito. Like a guesthouse but with more privacy as the staff are not around much apart from breakfast time. Good location and within walking distance to various sights and the free walking tour.
- Jared (10/5): Perfect! - Amazing place amazing family!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very good location, right in the historic center. Nice staff, clean, well-stocked. Breakfast provided was great start to each day. Comfortable beds.Only issues were using a taxi that "worked" with the property (receptionist arranged). We were charged $20 for what should have been a $2-3 fare. Glad we got our own taxi on the way back. Stay here if you want to explore downtown, just don't let them arrange your transports.
- Kathy (10/5): - I slept like a baby at Los Andes. The room was very clean and warm. Communication with staff was very helpful and polite. They even arranged my cab to my tour and to the airport for me! Breakfast was full and lovely. I could not have asked for me.
- Jens (8/5): Great Customer Service in a Small Package - As a fairly seasoned traveler, Los Andes was perfect for my short trip to Quito. Location is well within walking distance to Centro Historico. The hotel itself is (from the exterior) an unassuming structure on an older residential street. Once inside, you are welcomed by a small interior courtyard off of which all the guest rooms, dayroom and laundry facility lay.
For me, the best feature of this hotel was the one of kind customer service. Stephanie made my day! Pre-trip e-mails with clear, concise instructions made our late-night arrival (midnight) effortless. We came prepared with door and room codes, and we let ourselves in! Any questions we had, we could either phone directly using a local line in the dayroom or contact Stehanie via a messenger service (as suggested in advance!) Our breakfast was ready for us (we chose vegetarian: fruit salad, yogurt, granola, tea, etc) when we arose after which we were ready to expore each morning.
This is a small hotel and the feeling is quite intimate. Despite reading about noise in other reviews, I cannot say that noise was an issue.
Like all of Old Town Quito (and all of Latin America, for that matter), knowing your surroundings is vital to having a safe and enjoyable experience. Foot travel during the day is fine, but authorized taxis after dark! You have only to ask, and Los Andes will call a cab for you! Transfers to.from airport are also offered and recommended!
- JONATHAN (10/5): Lovely place to stay in the historic centre - Thank you to Stephanie for making all the arrangements for my trip and being so helpful.
A lovely family home in the heart of the historical centre. Nice and clean and quiet and loved the breakfast.
I will be back x
- Andi (10/5): Great location - Communication was great. They set up a guide for me and I was able to do the activities I planned.
- Fabian (10/5): Los Andes Ecuador is THE place to stay! - Stephanie and her staff provided the best hospitality I have ever experienced. To begin with, I had a late flight arrival and took up the taxi offer from the airport. HIGHLY recommend. Their taxi driver is a professional, dropped me off and waited to make sure I could get in the hotel. The room is just as advertised, has everything I needed. Very clean. The morning breakfast was a great way to start the day for me. It's in the common area, got to meet other travelers and share stories. Stephanie and/or her staff were there to answer any Quito question I had and share tips for the city. Stephanie can book Quito tour trips! This was a huge time saver and worth it in the long run. The main tour stop is less than a ten minute walk from Los Andes Ecuador. And to end the trip, I had a midnight flight departure. Stephanie let me leave my duffel bag in the storage closet my last day and I finished my trip at the Termas Papallacta, volcanic hot spring spa tour! The best way to finish a trip, highly recommend. Got back to the hotel, got the duffel bag, taxi professional picked me up and departed (regretfully, didn't want to leave!).
I'll be staying at Los Andes Ecuador again when I return to check out the Gallapagos 2021!
- James (10/5): Great vacation in Quito. - My wife and I stay at Los Andes hotel in April 2018'this small and guest friendly hotel is ,clean ,plenty of hot water, great breakfast, and the personal very helpful and friendly,we definetly will came back.
- Norazean (10/5): Amazing - I came to Ecuador to visit the middle of the world. Staying at los Andes Ecuador makes me feel like I’m the middle of the world to the host. I was blown away by the hospitality given by Stephanie. She made me feel at home and she goes out of her way to extend her help even though she doesn’t need to! Breakfast was simple but prepared with a lot of thought. The room was fantastic, it was clean and comfortable. I slept really well. The area is nearby to a lot of sights and it’s central to anywhere. I was sad to leave and you will be too once you stay in Los Andes Ecuador. Hands down the best bnb experience I have ever encountered!
- Daryl (10/5): - Los Andes has a very intimate, family run feel with great communication via email leading up to our stay. They also offered to book excursions through them, making trip planning very easy. They were great about recommending things to do in the city, and their breakfast was great.
- Kerry (10/5): perfect location in the historic center - Los Andes Ecuador is a family home, now run (the past 5 months) by Stephanie, the granddaughter of the owner. She is an amazing hostess, full of energy and curiosity/genuine interest about all her guests. There are only a few rooms around a central courtyard, each restored keeping to the colonial style. On the second floor is the kitchen and lounge area and a laundry room -- guests are welcome to use these spaces. The individual rooms also have a small refrigerator and cooktop, so guests can cook for themselves instead of eating out, if desired. Stephanie cooks breakfast to order for each guest every morning between 8 o'clock and whenever. (She lives with her grandmother and commutes an hour and a half to Los Andes.) This is not a fancy hotel -- it is comfortable and personal and truly an ideal location for sightseeing in the colonial old city area. There is a school directly across the small street, so it can get noisy for a brief period early in the morning (didn't bother me, I just turned over and went back to sleep). You are in a true "neighborhood" and seeing the local people carrying on their daily lives (before being converted to a hotel room, my room on the ground floor had been her grandfather's jewelry store; the room on the opposite side of the courtyard was her grandmother's convenience shop). My only disappointment about my room was that there was no window to the outside -- after 2 days of plane travel, I was looking forward to breathing fresh air.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice host! - Everything was awesome, and Stephanie (the host) was really nice and helpful. The only points on the negative side were the noisy neighborhood (especially early mornings due to the proximity to a school), and no shampoo for the shower (not sure if this is a norm in Quito).
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything was great. The rooms are very good and clean. The service is fantastic.
- Alex (10/5): - Amazing stay overall. The host, Stephanie, was extremely friendly and helpful. I couldn't have been happier with the quality of the room and the condition of the place as a whole. Highly recommended!!
- Jean (8/5): - Great location for old town, friendly efficient staff, helpful
- Kate (10/5): Great hotel in the 'old city' of Quito - Beautiful colonial residence within walking distance to the 'old town' centre. The breakfasts were wonderful and we had different fruit juices each day. There was a kitchen we could use and coffee available anytime of day. Very secure hotel and the owners daughter was always reachable if we had any questions or concerns.
- Atle (10/5): - Exelent place. Fantastic service.
- patrick (10/5): Excellent - Great host..speaks,English, arranged, tours taxi..ect
- Jose (10/5): great hotel near old Quito - great stay, secure, comfortable, great staff, felt like I was home. Definitely will be staying here again.
- Nick (10/5): Nice hotel close to the old town in Quito - All stuff were very helpful and friendly
And ,I really recommend this hotel
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very friendly and helpful staff, great location - Los Andes is a great place to stay in Quito. Stephanie speaks fluent English and Spanish and is happy to help with anything you might need including tips for what to see, how to get around, and to put you in touch with trustworthy cab drivers. If you're flying into Quito, we'd also recommend having them help you book a taxi so it's there waiting with a sign when you arrive. The breakfast was great with fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, eggs, bread, coffee/tea, and other local extras. Being used to cheap hotel breakfasts in Europe, this was a very welcome step up. The street is fairly quiet at night, though there is a school across the street which makes some noise in the morning... but we found that everywhere we've stayed all over Ecuador is louder than we're used to since the buildings aren't insulated for cold... so best to get used to it... When in Quito. We liked staying in the old town as it was walking distance to many churches and landmarks, more picturesque and also less touristic. Overall we found Los Andes a fantastic value (Ecuador is more expensive in general than we'd expected) and were happy to see the interest and dedication of the owners in improving the guest house more and more in the future.
