- Hana (9/5): Wonderful - I absolutely loved the location of this hotel! Free parking. My Japanese-Western style room was incredibly spacious and offered a stunning river view, which made watching the sunset a highlight of the trip. Although the hotel is on the smaller side, the environment is beautiful. I especially enjoyed the outdoor terrace; the hotel provides free coffee and tea in the lobby, so it was lovely to grab a cup and relax outside. The only downside was that the foot bath (ashiyu) was under maintenance and unavailable during my stay, which was a pity. Otherwise, a wonderful experience! none

- Andrew (10/5): Wonderful Hotel - From the moment we arrived the staff were exceptional, from parking our car to being offered a time to use the private onsen, nothing was missing, the room was perfect with an area with a sofa to sit by the windows and look at the amazing view over the lake.

Мы очень давно хотели посетить Хиту, это была моя мечта, и так совпало, что мы совершенно случайно выбрали даты, которые совпали с датами фестиваля фейерверков в Хите. Которые было бы очень удобно наблюдать прямо из окон нашего номера, выходящими на реку. Это первое, что я хотела бы отметить. Расположение отеля очень удобное и красивое - на набережной реки. До отеля можно спокойно пешком от главной станции. Сам отель тоже выглядит хорошо снаружи. Персонал был очень вежливым, отзывчивым, а еще они помогли нам с зонтиком в день выселения, о котором мы совсем не подумали заранее. Номер был большим, я специально выбирала именно его. Чистый, свежий, никаких претензий, все как было заявлено. Онсен я посетить не смогла, но мужу очень понравилось. Также, в наше проживание был включен традиционный ужин и завтрак и ребята - обязательно сделайте тоже самое! Это было очень вкусно! Я не всегда съедаю все японские продукты, но в этот раз я съела абсолютно все. Подача красивая и самое главное - очень заботливый вежливый персонал, которые подарили нам ощущение, будто бы мы приехали отдыхать к своей семье. Большое спасибо всем сотрудникам отеля за то, что моя мечта исполнилась и наша поездка навсегда будет ассоциироваться с таким теплым приемом... Возможно для них наше проживание не останется в памяти, но мы не забудем этот день никогда. Когда мы вернемся, а мы точно вернемся, мы обязательно остановимся второй раз только в этом отеле, и порекомендуем его всем друзьям и знакомым.

He chatted to us about working for a couple of years in Ireland (our home country) a number of years ago and offered to drive us to the Attack on Titan museum!
- Karen (8/5): Beautiful quiet river relaxing place - Lovely peaceful location on the river. Quiet location, so not much around in the way of shops, restaurants, coffee shops ect. But we had been travelling for a while so we were happy just to rest, looking at the view from a lovely deep bath. The staff were lovely and the breakfast has to be one of the best experiences of our trip. Thank you to the amazing ladies who made and served the Japanese breakfast in true Japanese style. It was fantastic for what we wanted, really quiet. If you want shops, bars, restaurants. Then maybe not the right place for you. But we loved it.

- Maria (10/5): Stunning view and room, and the best hospitality ever - I think it was the most beautiful hotel I’ve ever been to. The room had a stunning view to the river, the living room tatami felt like a movie scenario, there was a bathtub with a stunning view, an air purifier, and even a massage chair in the room. But the number 1 highlight for me was the incredible way we were treated by the staff and most of all by the hotel owner. We really felt like VIP guests. He saw we were going to visit Attack on Titan remote locations, and offered to bring us by car. We had a great time talking during the tour, with the maximum comfort. He was super patient to wait for us to leave the museums, shared tips of the city, took pictures of us… It was a magical experience! I’ll never forget that. I asked how we could thank him, but he didn’t accept anything. Also, on the first night, one of the staff employees also offered to bring us to a cafe of our choice when we arrived, since it was raining a lot. Next time I’ll definitely stay there again and also recommend to friends. Only a minor thing - there was a light smell of mold/old furniture, but considering that the hotel is 150 years old, it was quite clean and well maintained. Also, after a while, the smell was gone and/or wasn’t bothering me anymore.

- Brianna (10/5): A Modernized Ryokan - This is the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in while in Japan. Every floor has a different layout and the rooms themselves are like small houses. Everything is spacious, and ease to get around. Plus, the onsens are AMAZING. I almost fell asleep while using one. Most of the staff doesn't speak English, so either practice your Japanese or bring a translator with you.

From the moment we arrived, the service was beyond impeccable—the staff went out of their way to ensure that every aspect of our stay was perfect. The hotel itself is wonderfully located, offering clean, well-maintained accommodations with a warm and inviting atmosphere. We requested a nice room, and they generously provided us with one that had a stunning view of the river. While the rooms aren’t particularly large, they are thoughtfully designed and incredibly comfortable. The bathrooms were excellent—modern, spotless, and well-equipped. What made our experience even more special was the outstanding hospitality of the manager and his staff. When they heard that we wanted to visit the pottery village, they personally arranged transportation for us—something that truly went above and beyond. Their kindness, attentiveness, and willingness to assist made us feel incredibly welcome. This was, without a doubt, one of the best experiences of our entire trip. A huge thank you to the manager and the incredible staff for making our stay so memorable. We would absolutely return and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Hita! 🌸✨ We didn’t dislike anything
- Delphine (8/5): Onsen stay with very good value for money - Very nice staff. Large room. Staffs are very helpful and friendly. The set meals taste very good and of right portion. Futon are super comfortable and had a very good night of sleep. Nice view of river from the room. Outdoor public bath is too small. Also encountered some inconsiderate guests who talked loudly in the onsen. The water running out from the shower in public bath are fairly weak and some are not hot enough. The bathroom inside the room is smelly, likely due to clogged drains. Overall everything is quite worn out.

- John (10/5): Highly Recommend this Beautiful Friendly Hotel on the Edge of the River! - Very nice hotel right on the river. Huge bathroom with tub looking out to the water. Staff was super. Ask for restaurant recommendations, especially sushi. They sent us to one of the best and friendliest sushi places on our trip, only a block away. Coffee 24 hrs in the lobby. Nice full hotel Japanese breakfast restaurant is worthwhile - not many bkfst places around except Lawsons. Beautiful lobby and terrace with comfortable seating above the river. Follow the river walk below the terrace to the Hita island with an old shrine on top. Continue across the pedestrian bridge from the island across the river to a nice Starbucks. The hotel arranged a trip to the famous pottery town of Onta, with it's numerous water-powered clay hammers. Nice small Soba restaurant there. Hotel offers free shuttle service to the train station.

- youngju (8/5): - 조용한 시골마을의 오래된 호텔 느낌이에요 다다미방이 오래돼서 그런지 쿰쿰한 냄새가 좀 나고 방에 있는 공기청정기를 계속 돌렸는데도 어쩔 수 없더라구요 하지만 그건 오래된 숙소라 어쩔 수 없는 것 같고 그 외에는 깨끗하게 관리되어 있다는 느낌을 받았고 직원들도 모두 친절했습니다! 잠도 많이 못 자고 이동도 많아서 많이 피곤했는데 대욕장에서 따뜻한 온천물에 몸 담그고 맛있는저녁도 먹고 미리 깔아준 이불에서 잠을 자니 대접받는 느낌도 들고 피로도 풀리고 너무 만족스러웠어요 특히 저녁식사 너무 맛있었고 저녁에 호텔 로비 테라스에서 강가를 바라보며 쉴 수 있어서 너무 좋았습니다 다음날 체크아웃 할 때 비가 왔는데 버스터미널까지 셔틀버스로 데려다주셔서 감사했습니다

- Vickisfbayarea (7/5): Reasonable price compared to surrounding hotels, but you get what you pay for in this older hotel - Set along the river, it can be a stunning sight during the golden hours right before sunset and after sunrise. A peaceful, scenic river path walk or bicycle route. You can even climb up to a forested shrine along the river path. The roof top onsen unfortunately doesn't look the photos because there are privacy screens on the womens side that block the view and the inside onsen windows are fogged up, also blocking the view. Meals were plentiful, we couldn't finish the generous sets. Reception staff were not welcoming, which is unusual as all our other stays in Japan the staff cheerfully greet you as soon as you walk in the door or step off an elevator. Very nice yukata and over jackets provided. I reserved the shuttle a few days prior, as required by the hotel, via Booking.com messaging and our shuttle reservation was confirmed by the hotel, but the shuttle never showed up, so we walked the 25 minutes with our luggage. When we got to the hotel and I explained it to them, they did not even apologize and simply shrugged it off. So if you are depending on the shuttle pick up, you will need to be able to call the hotel directly to remind them that you have arrived. Because this hotel is cheaper than surrounding hotels, you also get louder, more inconsiderate guests and noisy groups. A couple of women were so loud, endlessly squawking in the onsen, ruining the experience, and then again in the lounge area and footbaths, talking loudly letting their kids run wild as we tried to enjoy the sunset. Our room was older and it had a very strong stale smell, so luckily the weather was mild and we could keep the windows open to chase the smell away. Ensuite toilet is small and cramped (knees hit the door and I'm 5'4") and you have to step up into it. But the room was clean, as were the public areas. The self-serve kimono and fancier yukatas, keta wooden sandals, were very impressive with beautiful accessories that you could dress yourself in and borrow for free, which was great for photo taking. Free use of bicyles, too. These complimentary amenities helped to make up for the other shortcomings of the hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): 가격대비 가성비가 좋고 편안한 분위기 입니다 - 조금 낡긴 했지만 편안하고 좋았습니다. 마침 크리스마스 시즌이라 강가에서 진행했던 불꽃놀이를 바로 볼 수 있었습니다. 경관이 좋아요. 다만 가족여행이라 방 3개를 빌렸었는데 마지막 방은 웃풍이 좀 심하고 냄새도 좀 났습니다. 다다미방의 한계인 것도 같아요. 가성비는 좋다고 생각합니다

- Greg (10/5): This hotel is a refreshing oasis your tummy will enjoy in the sleepy town of Hita. - Our dinner and breakfast were delicious and had exceeded our expectations. I wish we had more time to purchase some of the local ingredients used in our meals. The river view from our room and the walk along the river were relaxing. The onsen is relatively small but it has a relaxing river view.

- Thalia (10/5): Lovely stay, wish I'd had more time to explore - Beautiful river views, room was not a traditional Japanese one but still got lovely tatami and shoji screens. Loved the onsen upstairs..the free bike rental, the lovely staff..only stayed one night, wish it had been longer. That at night it was difficult to find somewhere to eat. This has nothing to do with the hotel..just that, as a foreigner, alot of the izakayas and small restaurants felt inaccessible.
