Guest Reviews
- ralph (9/5): most enjoyable - excellent design - very attractive- well organised and efficient the beds were soft and my wife suffered somewhat in her back as a result.
the chair too was no longer well upholstered.
- Rosemary (10/5): -
- Mark (10/5): - Comfortable and easy to access, perfect for the reason for our needs
- Richard (7/5): Good but disappointed but a partial refund was offered and accepted - Very comfortable, well equipped but unfortunately hot water was broken so no hot shower or hot washing facility available. No hot water

- Anita (9/5): Great stay and I would like to apologise for 2 of our party contacting you regarding entry - Location superb and near the beach Would of liked another fan
- Frits (9/5): Zeer goed verzorgd - Rustige locatie, maar dicht bij het strand.
- Tom (8/5): Very pleasant stay close to the sea. - Clear instructions for obtaining the key, everything in the room was good. As it was pretty warm, an airconditioning would have been nice.
- Teresa (10/5): Perfect - The room was lovely. Comfortable beds. Great location . Local shops and close to the beach. Easy access for parking.

- Alessandra (10/5): - The room is lovely, comfortable and clean, it has everything one might need. Great location as well, just a short walk from the town centre and train station, and super close to the beach. There are no negatives that I can think of! I would highly recommend staying here.
- Kathryn (10/5): Lovely Stay – Felt Just Like Home - Stayed here for a local wedding and it was perfect for what we needed. The room was clean, comfy, and really spacious. Loved the little extras – tea, coffee, milk, biscuits, and even some chocolates. It had a really cosy, homey feel. Would happily stay again! Nothing, it was perfect for us.
- Barnaby (5/5): Ok, would stay again but at £90 a night probably £15 or so overpriced. - Access was clearly communicated and easy. The decoration was a bit tired. Mould on the shower tiles. The room was clean but there were cobwebs on the doorframe to the bathroom; nothing too unpleasant. The hand soap dispenser had not been refilled, which was annoying. Fortunately there was sufficient supplies of body wash to compensate otherwise it would have been really annoying.
- Stacey (7/5): Lovely lodge with easy access. - Comfy bed, parking right outside, close to the beach Damp smell in the bathroom.
- Glenn (8/5): Good location. Clean room and facilities. Easy access - Clean Room and Bathroom
- SIAN (10/5): Perfect stay - The location was 5 mins away from Quex Park where we taking part in a festival, on street parking was fine.
The room was lovely and cosy and the shower was amazing.
Check in was easy as the owners sent clear instructions on how to get the keys.
Would definitely stay here again. Hope next year if we're booked on at the festival again Could not fault anything.
- David (9/5): Short but very sweet - Wasn’t find. Plenty of parking. Accessing the property was easy and the room itself was ideal. Comfortable and clean. Location was fantastic for the seafront and local eateries Nothing
- angela (10/5): A pleasant surprise at such a nice room. - Very well maintained, clean, tidy and well presented. Nice little touches such as sweets in the fridge, box of tissues and a fan. Some thought certainly went into the room. Shower was very good and we were very impressed with the whole place. Liked all of it.
- Agustina (2/5): Filthy room - The room was fine for the money, very outdated but ok. The room was FILTHY. Everything was covered in a layer of dust (see photos of the fan and kettle). The room smelled of damp and when you, for example, lifted the glasses it got even stinkier.
On a 29 degree day, we couldn't use the fan because of how dirty it was. We also didn't want to use surfaces as they were all dirty.
- Walton Ingham (10/5): I had a very much needed good night's sleep in a clean, comfortable room. - I was so very impressed and relieved to find such a clean, cosy and comfortable room. My stay was very calm and restful. The Lodge is located very near a convenience store, as well as being a short walk from the beautiful sea-front. I cannot fault Bay Lodge.
- Gary (10/5): - Nice place to stay, liked it
- Terence (8/5): - Very clean room with a lovely shower. The treats left were a nice touch! Easy to find with good clear instructions, easy to get into the property. Felt safe there. A lovely little cafe just down the road (the bouncing bomb), def worth a visit and the locals were very friendly. A short walk to the sea, with a lovely walk along the promenade to Westgate on Sea (took us an hour but we’re not fast walkers!)
- Resham (10/5): -
- Pauline (10/5): - I had a most enjoyable stay at Bay Lodge.
The owner was most welcoming.
Very comfy bed, lovely white crisp bedding & luxury white fluffy towels.
Nice little unexpected treat in the fridge
(chocolates)
Great location for nearby beach or surrounding areas (via the train)
Good cafe, shop & chip shop close by.

- Louise (10/5): - Really did like my stay
- Amanda (9/5): -
- Lesley (8/5): Convenient Guest House on Cantii Way Cycle Route - It was clean. Close to the seafront. Great shower. I had no idea we wouldn’t see the owners. I mistakenly thought we had booked bed and breakfast so that was a disappointment. There was damp smell in the Chaucer bathroom.
- Richard (10/5): -
- Nicholas (9/5): - Room clean, bed very comfortable. Location ideal for me. Nothing.
- franklin (10/5): - We stayed in a lovely room with a kettle for tea and coffee. There's a small fridge to put things in. Beautiful clean hotel white sheets clean towels with daily service cleaning.
It's perfectly well located to the beach front for lovely walks. There's a great selection of local shops. Also restaurants, bars and coffee shops. Some with beautiful sea views. Easy parking outside. Our host Alan greeted us on arrival and said to contact him if we needed anything, but it was all provided in our room.
A lovely bright room with ample storage for our belongings.
Easy access to information for the WiFi in the room and an excellent welcome information book. Our shower was perfect. We also had beautiful sunshine 🌞 but would still be a great location for sea view walks on blustery days if you bring the right walking gear. We will hopefully come back and enjoy this spot again. Not the biggest of rooms, but it had everything we needed, and we were just using it as a base as we were out making the most of where we were.

- David (9/5): -
- Sue (9/5): Odd not seeing any staff, although they are available if needed - Very quiet and clean
- Debbie (10/5): - We, along with several members of our family have stayed at Bay Lodge over the years. It never didsapoints in comfort and cleanliness.
- David (9/5): -
- Francilla (9/5): A lovely night sleeping accommodation. - Comfortable soft bed and very clean room. The windows would not shut securely .
The gap in the shower door when opened, can cause the bathroom floor to be sprayed with water when you first try to control the water temperature.
- Robert (9/5): -
- Paul (8/5): - Comfortable bed & pillows. Good shower. Had a little fridge. N/A
- Terence (7/5): Was going to say very clen - Ok but was disappointed that it didn’t have food like breakfast? Luckily my family were nearby so I could eat there
- Louise (10/5): Pleasant comfortable accommodation with a superb cafe close by for breakfast. - Perfect location for our visit to Birchington. Some mould in the bathroom.
Bathroom towels could be bigger.
- Oliver (10/5): Beautiful accommodation..Great setting, clean, tidy and well presented.. -
- Tina (10/5): - The room was very clean, had everything we needed and the shower was lovely. Nothing
- Emily (10/5): Excellent - Lovely room, well presented and very clean. Great location and secluded. We enjoyed the night we was there, very relaxing. Easy to check in via a key safe. Lots of spaces to park outside on the street, right next to the property.

- Adam (10/5): -
- Elaine (9/5): Very convenient to visit my daughter who has the Bouncing Bomb café nearby - Nice and comfy. Would have liked a shower mat in shower.
- Janet (10/5): -
- C (9/5): - Prachtig kustplaatsje dichtbij Canterbury en Dover, op loopafstand van zee (zeezicht met je hoofd uit het raam), waterkoker en koelkastje aanwezig
- David (9/5): -
- Andrew (7/5): We were wonderfully cared for by our hosts - The Owners couldn’t have been more helpful and kind: both while we were there (giving us a homemade hot water bottle!) and after we’d left (sending on a jersey we had left behind, entirely without fuss or complaint) Nothing. It was all fine.
- David (10/5): -
- Matt (8/5): -
- Michael (10/5): Weekene break - Nice place to stay clean quite nice area but the room was very dark because of the high bushes in the garden did not see the iwners at all
- Dean (10/5): -
- janice (9/5): -
- Francis (10/5): -
- Leslie (9/5): Enjoyable stay, with comfortable and clean room within few minutes walk to the beach - Location was great. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Instructions were clear and all went smoothly. We had an enjoyable stay. Nothing - everything was good.
- Claire (10/5): -
- Alan (10/5): Excellent - Excellent accommodation
Good size room with all the facilities needed
The low rate for value for money is that I feel all accommodation is overpriced in the UK
- Richard (8/5): Great place for a night - Clean and simple. Everything worked ok Nothing really
- Verified traveler (6/5): OK for a couple of nights - The best thing about this accomodation is the location, it is very near to the beach and the wonderful Minnis bay Restaurant. The room itself is comfortable enough but as it is below street level, it is a bit dark even with the lights on. The fridge is a nice touch though not big enough to stand up a bottle of wine. Always nice to see tea, coffee, biscuits and little chocs on the welcome tray. The bathroom was clean , however there were a couple of drips (?) on the toilet seat which I cleaned before we could use it. I'm not sure I understand the daily housekeeping as the towels we used and hung up to dry were folded up by housekeeping and the damp towels were put on the downturned bed, leaving a damp patch. I have no problem re-using a towel however one towel was clearly dirty and should really have been changed. the cups we used n the morning were not cleaned, not a problem for us but i'd have thought housekeeping would address this?
Easy and clear access. No major issues. Loads of free parking. Bus stop across the road takes you to Margate or Herne bay in the other direction.
- Catherine (10/5): -
- Eva-Maria (10/5): Definitely coming back! - Everything was great!
The room was lovely and we really enjoyed our stay !
- Alina (8/5): - The check-in was easy, good instructions. We didn't see any owners, just entered the property and this is it. Convenient. Room is good, big enough, has everything what you need. But I "met" a lot of spiders. And it was dusty. Kettle, in toilet. Maybe because twin-room isn't much popular and there weren't guests for a long time. But overall it was a nice stay.
- Jonathan (8/5): A nice place well sited for Birchington and Margate will stay there again. - Lovely little guest house near the sea. Clean. Good sized room. Bathroom was lovely. Had a good TV and a fridge all I needed for my stay. The owner was lovely and he made sure we were comfortable. We had great weather that weekend so it was a bit warm at night but I did have a fan so ok..
- Jonathan (10/5): - It’s a very nice place to stay
With a smart TV
- Ian (8/5): Away for work - Room was cosy, good enough for 1 night stay. Good commuincation about how to get in, key safe, etc. There was an odd smell in the ensuite - not sure what was causing it. There was mould on ceiling above shower cubicle. Venue does not have any on-site parking, free parking in streets around venue.
