Guest Reviews
- Pioneer799675 (10/5): A warm Moroccan welcome - Long weekend trip to Marrakech spent at Riad Ailen. Was welcomed by warmth by Abdul with Moroccan mint tea and biscuits despite being late and dark.
Bedrooms comfy and clean, it’s not a 5 star hotel but has everything you need and team could not be more helpful.
Breakfasts were fresh and tasty with freshly squeezed orange juice, eggs, bread jam, honey, waffles and a pot of coffee.
It’s close to the city wall, for nearness to taxis but this can mean a 15 / 20 minute walk for main souks and square. If you’re arriving at night try and get someone to meet you but the locals are very helpful.
It’s not a 5 star curated westernised experience but rather a small, more personal experience with great hosts.
- DianThomlinson (10/5): Authentic morroccan stay in Medina ( maracech) - We had a lovely stay, night porter met us from taxi upon arrival , was very helpful, he made our breakfast also which was delicious, also booked further taxis for our day out plus evening restaurants , bed and room v traditional ,clean and perfect for our stay.
- joannewX9143CS (10/5): Marrakesh at its finest - We arrived at night, I felt afraid at first the dark little streets. But the raid was lovely. The night porter, and Elkhafor. Hasna. We're especially attentive. All the staff were very nice. They put our fears aside us and we had the best time. Seeing marrakesh at its best. I would recommend. It's overwhelming at first but throughly enjoyed the trip immensely. We are booking to go back next year for sure
- PaulDubai41 (10/5): Christmas Marrakesh - Hello/Bonjour,
We would like to thank you for your kindness and hospitality shown to us during our stay with you from December 20th-27th.
The bedroom and facilities were excellent and the decor was beautiful. We would personally like to thank Abdul and the housekeeper who provided breakfast for us and their daily warm greetings to us. They made us feel special.
We enjoyed walking through the souks and exploring the vibrant beautiful city. We appreciate you organising our day trip to the Atlas mountains.
We hope, Inshallah, to visit again.
Best Wishes, Merci, Shukran

- kem777 (10/5): Amazing Marrakech madness - Just back from a trip to Marrakesh with easyJet holidays. From booking to flying it was a seamless experience. Arrived in Marrakesh and found the easyJet rep just outside the terminal as expected. She showed us to our driver and he took us to our accommodation. On the way he contacted the Riad we were staying in. (A Riad is a house inside the walls of a Medina but you can’t get a car all the way in) the guy he rang was waiting for us at the walls entrance to guide us to the Riad which was about 200 yards. Accommodation was spotless and the staff really friendly and welcoming. The Savoy it’s not but our room was very adorable. Double bed, couch, wardrobe, toilet and shower. Oh.. and there’s a pool in the centre of the Riad, which I was in after a day walking the narrow streets.
The streets are incredible with hundreds of motorcycles and mopeds with the odd donkey and cart moving things around. You get used to it very quickly as they avoid you as they whizz past. The colours, smells and sounds are absolutely incredible.
Breakfast set us up for the day with different breads, jam, honey, coffee, omelettes and yogurt.
We were on the edge of the Median with easy access to the many narrow streets, shops and souks.
The manger arranged our return pickup and our driver was 5 minutes early to take us back to the airport.
This was a fantastic holiday from start to finish and considered it great value.
- Mangochica (8/5): A lovely short break with wonderful staff - This is a lovely Riad around 15 mins walk to the main square, about 20mins to the secret garden and about 50mins to the Gueliz. We paid £429 on easyjet holidays for 4 days B and B and we definitely had value for money.
The transfer dropped us at the gate and it was a 3 mins walk to the Riad.
Breakfast was a lovely spread of breads, pastries, juice, coffee and mint tea.
Our room was clean and fresh. It was small but more than adequate.
We requested a massage and a lady came to our room and it was amazing! Highly recommended
The roof terrace is lovely and the plunge pool is great to cool down.
The location is not in the main medina but for the price, this was expected.
Having been to Marrekesh a few times, this was a lovely stay for the price we paid.
Abdou, the 2 x female members of staff and the manager were so helpful and friendly and really made our stay. Many thanks
- MrsWackyT (10/5): Great find away from the main tourist traps - Just arrived back from a long weekend in Marrakesh. Stopping in Riad Ailen inside the Medina. A very hot weekend above 40 degrees but the joy of returning to our Riad to the small pool was welcoming. A refreshing paddle or dip was worth the hustle bustle of the Medina. A lovely weekend with the teenage kids one celebrating her 16th birthday. A good half hour walk to the main square maybe longer depending on people bikes donkeys cars stalls kids cats. All fun and lovely to see another way of life. Would recommend, rooms were inviting breakfast was good but would have liked some fruit options considering plenty being sold along the streets. Lovely staff their English was broken but they couldn’t do enough for you. A very pleasant stay.
- 282altafc (10/5): A fantastic experience - Spent 4 nights at riad ailen with my family visiting morocco for the first time. What a experience fantastic hotel and fantastic staffs (Abdul my son misses you). Hope to visit again .
Highly recommended , 15 mins walk and your in the heart marrakech
- sarahdell01 (8/5): RIad Ailen - We stayed at Riad Ailen based on good reviews and the great price.
The Riad was beautiful and we were welcomed with tea and cakes , this is where the hospitality ended really due to Eid a religious festival so we barely saw anyone for the rest of our trip. This is completely understandable but for this reason we couldn't get any help or advice on the area etc.
I didn't like the location , it is in a very local area which is quite dirty and the walk seemed long even though its only 25 minutes from the main square . I learnt after being there I would have preferred to be closer to the main area , we started getting taxis around the outside as it was too hot to walk there each day . Even though the description shows inside Medina the Medina is huge so that doesn't necessarily mean you're close to where you want to be. Also every morning at breakfast around 20 wasps would surround us as soon as the honey arrived so I couldn't eat my breakfast and nothing was done to prevent this.
In summary, beautiful Riad, in a peaceful location but not for me as I didn't like the wasps in the morning and prefer a more centrally located Riad.
- kellyr219 (10/5): I would recommend - Lovely Riad, clean and lovely staff and very helpful, lovely space where u can relax in the sun at the top. I would stay here again
- georgeoB3338RG (10/5): Wonderful break. - We had an amazing week at Riad Ailen. We were welcomed from our airport transfer at Bab Aylan, one of the entrances into the old city of Marrakech, by our hostess and manager Hassna who helped with our luggage. Whilst we signed in, we were treated to delicious Moroccan tea and cake. The riad was very homely and the staff fantastic. Hassna, Abdul and Neima couldn't do enough for us. The breakfasts and dinners were excellent and we would definitely recommend Riad Ailen one hundred percent.
- Rob2230 (10/5): Thank you - Hassma and the team are so friendly and helpful. A traditional riad, located on the edge of the inner wall of old town. Fairly, linear route to main square, around a 20 minute (ish) walk. Good for taxi pick up and drop off. Thank you Hassma for a wonderful stay 👍
- Min4615 (10/5): Amazing stay - Absolutely could not recommend enough!
At first I was really concerned due to the walk from the taxi drop off to the hotel and lots of alley ways and hardly any English people around, but I’m used to holidays in Tenerife so was very different for me!
The staff were absolutely amazing and couldn’t do enough for you, breakfast was delicious and fresh every morning, the sun terrace was a nice place to relax and chill!
There’s no restaurants around but if you’re hungry there is a shop round the corner selling snacks and the staff will order you a Pizza Hut if you give them the money.
She sorted out our excursion for us aswell which was quad biking and camel riding in the desert with dinner and a show, 100% recommend that too!
Rooms were a nice size with a safe and AC
- 152louiseo (10/5): Amazing piece of heaven in a very busy city! - Amazing hosts, very welcoming, breakfast was divine, all fresh, room had AC a beautiful bathroom, very comfortable bed. It was a 15 minute walk to the main square, not many restaurants close by but many in a walkable distance. I can’t recommend the hospitality of the hosts enough. Absolutely loved every minute.
- Katrin124 (10/5): Good value for money - Charming and peaceful Riad with lovely staff. Naturally old rooms, clean and spacious enough for us 2 travellers. Very comfortable beds, the shower was a bit temperamental with hot water. Breakfast with fresh bread or pancakes was nice. Once we asked for a dinner, which was Moroccan, plenty and delicious. Best we liked the welcoming, helpful and always smiling staff. Thanks a lot for some wonderful memories in Marrakesh!
- 167mteresas (2/5): Definitely NOT 4* accommodation! - It was not as described the plunge pool was covered with a plank of wood with furniture on top, the bathroom was filthy, there was no room for one suitcase never mine two. The room was smelly and damp. With 10cm either side of the bed to the wall. We were told it was situated 15 min walk to the square, it was a 15min ride in a taxi, with no car access. We left the next day :(
- souad (8/5): - Bel endroit
- Michael (8/5): - Gute Lage
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hard to find and shower was cold, but it was comfortable and air conditioning was nice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A fabulous Riad in the heart of the medina - Wonderful Riad in the heart of the medina. Superbly friendly and helpful staff. Delicious breakfasts and optional evening meals. Secluded Roof terrace / sun deck. The staff are happy to help arrange a variety of trips and visits - as well as transport to and from the airport. An authentic Moroccan experience
