- LUCIFER (9/5): Great location. - Absolutely beautiful building in a perfect location directly across from the Abbey. Our room had an amazing view of the Abbey and the surrounding equally beautiful buildings. We were lucky enough to hear not only bell ringing practice one evening, but also the choir singing in front of the Abbey one morning. The room was large and comfortable with the added benefit of a small fridge. The bathroom had a large bath with shower, unfortunately the larger shower didn't work and had a build-up of limescale on it and the smaller shower head kept falling down. The restaurant was outstanding with the most gorgeous and moreish Italian small plates menu and the staff were very professional and attentive. Apart from the bedroom and bathroom needing a little more attention to cleaning, we would definitely recommend coming to stay at this welcoming and comfortable gem of a hotel and restaurant which we are already planning to visit again. Bedroom and bathroom could be cleaner, and main shower needs repairing.

- Simon (6/5): Enjoyed our 2 day visit, staff were very good, restaurant & pub well worth a visit - Breakfast menu was very good, different choices were available. Booked a meal in the restaurant for the Italian Tapas menu, this was excellent, service was very good, would recommend this.
Location to visit the Abbey, Castle and surrounding area is very good. Did not know that the Pub & Restaurant were closed on a Sunday and Monday, this information is not available when booking and I believe it should be, although you are supplied with all the "self check in" information when making the final payment, there are other establishments in the area that were open however not all were open for eating.
We stayed in the Court Yard suit which are up some outdoor metal stairs, not easy to manage if you have any mobility issues, as this establishment is a very old building this is also portrayed in the rooms, some may like, some may not. We had a problem with the heating boiler (apparently it's situated in a cupboard in this room) making a dreadful noise in the middle of the night, this was reported to management the next morning, not sure what the outcome of this was as the heating was not "on" the next morning?
- Archer (10/5): - I stayed in room one that has a direct view of the beautiful Sherborne Abbey. The room is huge with loads of light from the two big windows. Immaculately clean and nicely decorated, with a large comfy bed, sofa, and chairs. The gorgeous bathroom is also large and spotlessly clean. The room has a small fridge with an icebox, which was very handy, and the fluffy robe was a nice touch The Abbey bells chime regularly, which is very beautiful, but if you are a light sleeper, you may wish to use some earplugs. I soon got used to it and did not cause me any issues
- David (9/5): We'll be back! - Breakfast choice was excellent. We tried most of the combinations and all were superb.
- Guy (9/5): - My friends stayed and I was next door but I know they were extremely happy. I got to enjoy a fantastic breakfast in the Plume and drinks in the Courtyard. The staff were exceptional - efficient and friendly and I hugely appreciated the flexibility shown around the booking.
- Bailey (9/5): -
- Trudi (10/5): Cozy quarters and convenient location - LOVED the location - rigth across from the abbey. Loved the courtyard, little restaurant with tapas, and the morning breakfast. We also loved the staff - so friendly and accomodating. The only thing that we did not expect - a winding metal staircase to our second floor accommodation. No lift.
- Cressida (9/5): Perfect - breakfast was superb/ sublime in fact
we felt totally at home and never rushed but v well looked after
bed was v comfortable
room really beautifully decorated clean the windows in the bathroom (but I'm being picky now!)
maybe some products I could use in the bathroom as I had forgotten conditioner and shampoo. (again picky!)
- Paula (8/5): Overall a lovely stay. - Excellent breakfast , staff were very pleasant and polite. The room was very clean and some nice Dorset touches. Bath was lovely and deep and the water hot which was great as usually lukewarm in other places we have previously stayed at, a real treat. Room was a little dated, It was noisy on the Saturday night but directly over the pub so to be expected, if you had a little one it may disturb them but they close at 11 and the Sunday and Monday they were closed so was quiet on them evenings.
- Mark (10/5): -
- Jeffrey (9/5): -
- Alex (7/5): Very pleasant stay - Excellent location to explore Sherborne. Strong, warm shower, and an excellent breakfast Difficult locks on the external and room doors was very frustrating. Bedding didn't fit and kept coming off. Woken up by the abbey bells several times throughout the night
- Andrew (10/5): Excellent location, comfortable, great service. - Comfortable stay. Excellent breakfast with fresh local ingredients. Top quality. Room maybe a bit gloomy but that is a personal preference. That's all I could find that I could fault.
- Rosenthal-Almirall (10/5): -
- Daniel (10/5): Great stay in a Great location - Location .view from the room .Great food and service
- James (8/5): Enjoyable. - Excellent.
- Jane (6/5): ok - The restaurant music booming in my room.
- jessica (8/5): Excellent stay in a gorgeous place with little extras - Beautiful, cosy place to stay, with attention to detail over little extras that made it feel like a treat - towelling robes, Cow shed products to use, selection of teas and fresh coffee in the room, Ferrero Roche chocolates!
Food in the pub was exceptional!
Great customer service - staff were happy to help with any issues, friendly and approachable
Giant bath! Great sized room with so much space The cow shed lotions were empty on arrival, and only one robe in wardrobe, but this was soon rectified by attentive staff.
Pillows a bit lumpy

- Webster (9/5): Observations! - Fabulous position. Lovely big bed and equally big room with spectacular view of the Abbey and bell tower Very comfortable indeed Very warm and loads of hot water in our very spacious bathroom! Only two tea bags for a 3 night stay!! (Over the Christmas period so no room service - which was fine by us)
No soap in bath dispenser! Rather annoying as we did'nt bring our own soap
Only one hand towel between two of us! Apart from those little inconveniences our stay was perfect.
A box of kleenex tissues or similar would have been appreciated!
However, we will definitely return as such a lovely big and light room and fabulous position.
- Mark (9/5): -
- Jeremy (8/5): Excellent stay - we will be back - Very clean and tidy - great parking Pillows on bed too hard
- Roger (9/5): -
- Graham (10/5): -
- Stuart (7/5): Good stop but need to address a lot of basic things - Lots of character and very cosy. Excellent breakfasts. Staff very friendly and helpful. A few health and safety things lacking. On return on my first , second and third night the courtyard where I went to my accommodation was pitch black as they had switched off all the lighting in pub (also shut) so trip to room upstairs involving invoking my phone lighting. Room never cleaned and given the coffee was for a cafetière ment empty spent coffee down the sink. Shower bath combo had no grab handle or mat to stop one slipping over taking a shower. Wardrobe door would not shut properly as warped wooden doors. Heating system very strange as randomly heated up room even when adjusted, needed better explanation. Lack of milk for coffee due to no refresh of room. Toilet when flushed carried on for a considerable time I guess due to a cistern fault. TV practically useless as Ariel faulty (comes from as socket which is always an issue with digital tv). One of the window blinds was broken and held with sellotape. Other one very tight so I suspect that is why other was broken. Confusing check in when they are shut Sunday and Monday as again area for remote key pick up is not illuminated. It is such a shame this place has massive potential and given I usually stop at the place next door as this I think is a new venture (my friends who live in Sherborne never new you could stop here). Sort above out and you are onto a winner otherwise I fear others will state similar and you may risk someone hurting themselves walking in the dark or slipping in the bath.
- Rosie (5/5): If you are in the right room, nice. If not, far too expensive for the rooms you get. - Location by the Abbey is good. We took three rooms. One was fantastic, overlooking the Abbey and decorated beautifully. The other two were off a fire escape in the beer garden and off a dark alley at the back of the pub. Both just had brown carpets and very basic decor. Toiletry pumps didn’t work. Mugs not quite clean. Not enough plugs. And both rooms were very noisy. The one off the back alley was the worst - several people tried to door handle late at night (drunk I presume!) and the toilet and basic shower were at the bottom of the full flight of stairs right by the street door - not at all suitable for my 80 year old Dad.
- B (8/5): Mostly very good - Room was lovely and cosy, warm and spacious.
Breakfast was delicious Pillows were too high. Not any other pillow options, lack of choice on pillows. Ended up sleeping without one.
Shower room never really heated up properly so was chilly in there when going to the loo. Didn’t use the shower as a result and stuck to using the bath upstairs.
- Stephen (10/5): We had a fabulous stay at the Plume. It has lots of old world character. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. All staf - The room was very spacious with a large comfortable bed. Large bathroom too.
- Williams (10/5): A quintessential location within a picturesque town. - A superb restaurant with a superb room . Nothing
- Jemima (10/5): Beautiful and comfortable stay - Beautiful accommodation, delicious breakfast, lovely facilities and excellent central location. It was all great.
- Rupert (9/5): -
- R. Mark (5/5): Not relaxing - very disappointing. - Lovely eating area - decent food and beer. Good table service. Room WiFi was a waste of time so impossible to work. Originally had wasted 20 mins trying to connect with what turned out to be the previous password!! No apology. Thermostat is in a different room so the temperature is completely unreliable. I was freezing one evening then boiling hot at 2am the next. When I politely complained it seemed perfectly acceptable - no apology or attempt at a solution. Room/windows were rather tired and needed a paint refresh. No phone in the room to call down to reception so called the number on the info sheet who appeared not to appreciate my call - come on!!
- Joe (10/5): Beatiful place to spend out honeymoon - Beautiful location and stunning room. The breakfast was honestly amazing too We didn’t get to stay there longer!
- Tessa (8/5): -
- Alastair (9/5): -
- Paul (10/5): Brilliant - Clean lovely room very comfortable and great for the location
- Louise (10/5): -
- Steffen (9/5): -
- Tracey (9/5): - Visiting family in the area and the location was perfect. Nothing, all good.
- Lesley-Anne (10/5): Loved staying here and can't wait to come back! - Loved the decor, friendly staff and excellent food - will definitely be staying here again! If I had to pick one thing it would be to have nicer (fluffier) towels. But this is really one very small thing in the overall experience.

- Beatriz (10/5): Excelente relación calidad-precio - Todo. Es ideal. Muy acogedor
- Tim (8/5): Really nice stay, let down by the breakfast timings - Lovely suite in a beautiful old pub in the centre of town. Staff very helpful when needed. Easy self check in procedure of their day off. Breakfast for business users is too late at 7.30. Management need to understand their guests and be accommodating where they can. Disappointing to miss out on 3 meals which I had paid for. Although the self check in was easy, it was a bit odd to be letting myself in. I understand why people need days off, but if the rooms are available for purchase, there should be someone there to greet incoming guests
- Lynn (4/5): - I had been advised by another traveller to avoid the Hayloft Room and made this request but guess which room I got!!….. the bathroom was very narrow and down a steep narrow flight of stairs not good if you need the loo during the night and over 60 !! - no plug near a mirror and the worse thing of all was the church bells directly opposite my room which rang on the 1/4 hr throughout the night so I got no sleep!! My friends joined me for breakfast (my treat) which cost me £41 for 2 x egg on toast with tomatoes and 2 coffees - needless to say I will not be stopping there again - on the upside the staff were very pleasant
- Janet (9/5): Excellent - Friendly staff very helpful and welcoming. Amazing food lovely location and room Stairs were tired up to the room
- William (10/5): -
- ssssss (8/5): Excellent location, excellent service, beautifully presented and seriously good italian food. - excellent breakfast and extended breakfast times. Staff were superb . Food excellent and right opposite a beautiful Abbey. Despite being a pub,all was quiet by 10.30 pm
Location is excellent The Hayloft whilst a quirkey and interesting room off the main building is a bit of a challenge in that the loo and wet room are accessed by a quite steep flight of stairs- well lit, well maintained but not ideal for people of a certain age.
The stand alone slipper bath was a fun addition and the room is entirely comfortable with separate seating area and overlooking a pretty courtyard. The only minus was thepillows which were magnificently overstuffed -and not to my taste - however that is a minor consideration.
- John (8/5): Very pleasant. - Courtyard suite was spacious and comfortable.
Breakfast was excellent.
Very good town-centre location opposite the Abbey.
Good value overall. Noise from the restaurant, although things settled by 11.00pm (midweek).
Placing of power points in bedroom and sitting area could be better.
NO GRAB HANDLES over the bath.
- Kate (9/5): The perfect place to stay in this beautiful historical town - what a treat! :) - Wonderful staff & accomodation. Breakfast ws the best I've had in ages! Perfect place to stay in this beautiful historical town. A little noisy with the restaurant & Abbey bells - but all part of the experience : )
- Rosenthal-almirall (10/5): Exceptional - Great room, great service. Regular visitors here, always a pleasure! What's not to like?
- Tracy (9/5): Perfect place to stay, thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights here, would definitely recommend it - Lovely big, clean room, easy to check in and breakfast was just superb. Excellent location right in the heart of Sherborne Only one slight (tiny) criticism, lead on iron is not long enough, it is connected to ironing board which made it very difficult to iron clothes
- Paul (10/5): Friendly staff, good food and a lovely location in the heart of Sherborne. - The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. On the first day, my autistic granddaughter struggled to cope with the normal table used for breakfast and the staff had to set up a different table for us in different part of the restaurant that is not normally used. I was delighted to see that on subsequent days the staff had already setup the same table. The breakfast itself was also exceptional and one of nicest I have had whilst staying away from home.
- Johnson (9/5): It was so good we will rebook. - The location and view of the Abbey were really good. It was excellent value for money. Our room was very comfortable. The pillows were very hard.
- Sandra (10/5): Exceptional - We enjoyed everything. The Plume of Feathers is in a beautiful location, wonderful room and breakfast excellent. All good.
- Karen (9/5): Fab place to stay in an excellent location for exploring Sherborne. - Excellent location
Great choice of freshly made breakfast
Lovely accommodation Only negative was that we didn’t have any normal tea bags in our room and by the time we realised it was too late to ask for some.
- Dr (10/5): Highly recommended - Fabulous location. I stayed in the Courtyard Suite, which was light, spacious & very well appointed. It was also spotlessly clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The pub itself has so much character. It was all good.
- Chloe (8/5): Very good - Lovely room and really pleasant staff. Breakfast was fantastic. My shower room smelt heavily of damp and the shower tray filled up with water very quickly. Probably just needs the drain cleaning out but other than that everything was lovely.
- James (10/5): - Great location s
- Andrew (9/5): Really Good - The restaurant was excellent The Abbey bells ringing every 15 minutes through the night
- Macneil (7/5): Met expectations with very friendly and helpful staff located in the heart of Sherborne. - The property met my expectations. The bathroom was very nice and large and it had a wonderful view of the Abbey. Be warned, the Abbey bells are active and loud.
- Matthias (10/5): Pleasant stay in direct vicinity of the famous Cathedral - Full english breakfast or different variations, combined with excellent coffee.
This is just perfect ! No complaints, even parking was provided.
- Dave (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (9/5): Superb - Breakfast and evening meal were excellent. It is not the first time I have dined in the restaurant but the food and service continues to excel.
- Elizabeth (10/5): The Plume and Feathers well worth a visit - We were very impressed with the accommodation, which was spacious, well equipped and comfortable. The food at breakfast, lunch and dinner was exceptional. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and pleasant. Thank you
- Alastair (9/5): Superb -
- John (8/5): Lovely stay, great atmosphere but the door needs attention - Lovely place with a great outdoor eating place, especially at night with trees & lights. Live music too. Parking a big bonus for me. Food was very nice but a tiny comment would be that as a solo traveler the menu was limited as it’s a tapas style menu designed to share. Very tasty though My one little niggle was the slamming of the door by patrons coming & going. My room ( Hayloft ) overlooked the courtyard with many people & there is an access door right under the room. Please think of putting a damper on the door as it rattles the room upstairs !
- Peter (9/5): The Plume is highly recommended for a stay in Sherborne - Excellent location in centre of Sherborne.
Food is very good, breakfast beautifully cooked with fresh locally sourced ingredients.
Comfortable and spacious room in the hayloft. Wi Fi isn’t very strong
- Diana (10/5): Perfick. Perfect location, perfect facilities, lovely staff, amazing food and wine. Just Perfick. - Perfectly situated within walking distance of the station (I walk with a stick), opposite Sherborne Abbey which has bells, we found them comforting. Room is up two flights of stairs, friendly staff carried my case for me. Room is nicely furnished as is the huge bathroom. All the staff were amazing. The venue is lovely and the food and wine excellent. We cannot recommend it more highly. It was a perfect stay for a School Reunion. Leaving, we really enjoyed our stay there.
- Christine (9/5): Beautiful location, staff, food, quaint shopping village. - Location across from the Abbey ideal. All great.
- Maria (10/5): The room was clean and nice, the breakfast - tasty. Thank you! Will be happy to come back. -
- Daniel (10/5): Nick and his team were all fantastic…. The room was lovely, comfortable, spacious, clean and well equipped. The restaura - Amazing staff, lovely room, great value, and the restaurant was superb. Nothing.
- Malgorzata (6/5): - We have recently stay in Family Room.
To be honest for 2 nights including breakfast we thought that is quite reasonable price to pay as the Room was spacious.
However need some TLC and good cleaning.
Window in bedroom broken-can’t close properly, lots of cow webs on the lighting and also good dusting is needed.Bulbs need replacing on the side table in the Tv room too.
Generally good and proper hover and cleaning would help .
On the positive note the bed was very clean and comfortable.
Bathroom needs repair/replace shower head as it was constantly moving around and hot water tub for bath is not working properly.
Also shower wall needs attention-silicone sealer.
Toilet seat needs good cleaning especially on the back seat -it was dirty with orange and brown stains on the silver screws.
Breakfast was mix results tbh as on Sunday morning we had perfectly served Full English breakfast however on Monday-sausage was undercooked-was red inside and water too.
When we call for service we received information that it was cure and good to eat and we said it was not cooked correctly.
Instead of going back and forth service should just say simple apology and admit the mistake,it was unnecessary and unprofessional ,also the portion size was much smaller than they before and presentation could be better.
Overall I think our stay wasn’t worth £250 for just 2 nights with all this issues which could be easily solved.
- Hammond (10/5): Nice stay in a good location. - Nice rooms, great location and the food at the Plume of Feathers was really good. Nothing
- Patrick (10/5): - Location opposite the Abbey was fantastic the pub restaurant was amazing best breakfast we have had anywhere will definitely stay again on our next visit
- Ananda (10/5): - We had a great stay. Hayloft Room was beautiful and special with all the small details appreciated. Breakfast amazing and friendly staff.
- Jo (10/5): Exceptional - The property is in a brilliant position, it’s central in the town and bang opposite the historical Sherborne Abbey. We could also bring our dog which was very helpful.
- Trlvrboots (10/5): Wow - Excellent location. Italian tapas were something unbelievable. All staff very welcoming and kind. One of the owners was serving us on Sunday morning and must say they are running a little gem there. ...
- Charmaine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ruth (9/5): Superb -
- Janet (9/5): Overall, very pleased we stayed. - Fantastic breakfast, cooked perfectly. Theresa was excellent at attending to our needs. Making sure my cup of tea was served with my hot food and not before as requested. Not so thin and frayed towels. The door under the hayloft slams loudly early morning & late at night.
- Paul (9/5): Wonderful location, outstanding staff and service. - The breakfast was excellent - great variety. The room was a great size, the shower/toilet downstairs is inconvenient but not a major problem (and there is a basin upstairs anyway). Plenty of space for the dog and she was welcomed throughout the hotel. No problem with parking and a fantastic location. Bottle emptying from the pub next door each morning at 7am a bit annoying!
- Katharine (5/5): Great location and restaurant, the decor could be better and carpets and sofa cover need a clean. - great location and good food in the restaurant dirty carpets and sofa cover. Threadbare towels.
- Sarah (8/5): Only stayed the one night but overall had a comfortable stay and staff were efficient and friendly. Would definitely rec - Quirkiness Toilet being downstairs
- Richard (8/5): Perfect place to stay if you're visiting Sherborne - Abbey room was large, quiet and very comfortable. Breakfast excellent, and staff very helpful, would thoroughly recommend
- Pamela (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was great
- Jon (8/5): Very good -
- Ian (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (8/5): Very good - Food
- Joanne (10/5): Welcoming, friendly and attentive - They are so friendly and welcoming and the whole property is just beautiful! Nothing!
- Paul (9/5): Surpassed our expectations! Friendly attentive staff, excellent food, generous room with comfy bed! - Lovely staff ~ attentive & friendly. Excellent food. Very generous and comfortable room with the added bonus of its own seating area, a larger than average bathroom and a stunning outlook over the Abbey. Really convenient too - plus free parking available nearby.
- Wells (7/5): Good value, cosy stay. - Very cosy and homely. Lovely comfy bed. Great value for a suite of rooms. Massive sofa. Felt very safe and secure. Only bbc channels on TV. Sensible heating arrangements but was a little cold at times. Noisy air vent from the restaurant kept me awake on the first night plus the Abbey bells ringing every quarter hour, however was used to it by the second night.
- Emma (8/5): Very good -
- Allyson (9/5): Always stay here! - Always stay here when I travel to Dorset, fabulous little pub with rooms, great food and service fantastic!
- Charles (9/5): Superb -
