Guest Reviews
- Susan (9/5): -
- Gina (8/5): A welcome rest in a beautiful location by the river - Perfect location for walking the Thames There was no simple food on the menu and after following the table instructions and ordering I was told I shouldn’t be sitting where I was.
Also the small roadside room with no view of the Thames seemed over priced
- Bonnie (10/5): -
- Isabella (10/5): - God mat och bekväma sängar
- Fiona (8/5): - There was a bathroom with hand basin and a separate toilet with hand basin in our room, very handy for two sisters travelling together ☺️.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast (included) was generous, and started at 7am which was good as a long day walking ahead of us. Lovely yoghurt and cereal. Then smashed avo on grilled sourdough with poached eggs. Top marks. Room was a bit small but understandable given the age of the building.
- Andrew (10/5): I liked “The Rose Revived” a lot. Not too pretentious but with high standards! Bit of a pity about that Wi-Fi router i - Chef & Brewer’s excellent standards, beautifully set beside The Thames. Sadly, the lights on the Ceiling mounted, in-room Wi-Fi router create quite a bit of light disturbance at night.
- Karen (9/5): Very good, slept really well! - Beautiful decor and clean. Lovely location. Room had a few annoying aspects - shower gel hard to reach, access to tap limited because if a shelf above sink. Kept walking into the TV when walking past bottom of the bed!
- MARK (8/5): Great stay, lovely hotel in a beautiful location - Beautiful location, rooms very comfortable and nicely decorated, understated but classy. Dinner was very good, staff were great. We had a minor issue with our room and the manager sorted it quickly and to our satisfaction, excellent service.
- Andrew (8/5): - Staff excellent, lovely location , decent enough Scruffy. Needs a refurb, found a lot of dust and cobwebs, outside area is old, stained and in need of overhaul.
Breakfast a bit cold.
- Rosemary (10/5): Such a welcoming place to stay. - The room was beautifully appointed.
- David (8/5): Functional - Location Choice at breakfast Locked in at night and release time at weekend v late (8am)
Rooms smaller than others on trip
- Guest (8/5): -
- Sue (7/5): Good location for Thames Path - Location Would have preferred a buffet breakfast
- Ross (10/5): -
- ronald (9/5): - Everything Poor app and auto answer telephone comms.
- JeffTaylor (9/5): Lovely stay right on the Thames path - The reception was great, the safety protocols were explained & I was shown to my room which was lovely. There were chocolates, & biscuits + tea & coffee in the room. The food was lovely & I slept really well The two knobbly glasses were stacked & I couldn't unstack then for fear of breaking them. I used a cup😂
- PENELOPE (7/5): Great location, nice old inn - Location, staff friendly, comfortable beds, very good coffee!
- Tamzyn (10/5): Good accommodation, just for what we needed. - Very clean, beautiful bathroom, good location.
- Amanda (8/5): Lovely room in a pretty location - Location for Thames Path walk. Beautiful riverside garden. Rooms well equipped. Nothing
- ADRIAN (8/5): -
- Tom (8/5): Perfect location for night away and river walks - Love location , ideal for walks along the river , pubs good value and range of drinks and food. Staff were friendly and helpful
- Flynn (7/5): -
- Louise (7/5): Food good but room small, hot and noisy. - Staff and food good Bedroom was very small. Noisy as overlooking the road. Pub noise coming up through the floor.
- Ciobanu (10/5): -
- Ewan (10/5): A great stay and very welcoming - The Hotel and Restaurant were very clean and tidy, the staff were very pleasant and kind Nothing, well situated and easy to find
Muchas salsas, comidas copiosas y nada ligeras.
- jonathan (9/5): -
- Abigail (9/5): - So fantastic Comfy and cosy!
- Glyn (9/5): Comfy room . Good value - Lovely location
- Gillian (10/5): Excellent stay. Comfortable bed. Great surroundings. Would love to visit in the warmer weather. - Location. Everything was good value for money. Didn't try the menu but the amount of customers spoke for its popularity. Staff very friendly. Hotel very attractive. Room although 'snug' had everything in it you would need. Only a very small criticism. The room was very clean but there was an almost overpowering smell of cleaning products or maybe carpet freshener? 🤔
- Rob (10/5): - All the team were welcoming and polite. The room was clean and tidy with a very comfortable bed. Really nice opening the curtains and seeing the river and would definitely recommend. Food was of a very high standard and reasonably priced.
- Hayley (10/5): -
- Carol (8/5): - Nice setting alongside river - breakfast was good large portion of English breakfast - staff very polite and welcoming + comfortable bed - neat modern bathroom - nice atmosphere in hotel bar area Bedroom needs a paint walls were badly scuffed in first bedroom - moved from another room whIch was more neat but still some scuffs
- Ethan (10/5): -
- Samantha (7/5): -

- Abigail (10/5): Beautiful, welcoming hotel in a picturesque Thames-side location - the perfect stay. - We stayed for one night while walking the Thames Path and can’t praise the hotel highly enough. The staff were wonderful, our room was comfortable and well equipped and looked right onto the river, both dinner and breakfast were delicious - an absolutely perfect stay. Nothing whatsoever - only that we weren’t staying for longer!
- Cecilia (10/5): Beautiful location - Lovely friendly place. Beautiful location.

- Angela (8/5): Very nice stay - Comfortable cozy room. Kat and her team were great 👍
- Malcolm (10/5): Beautiful Pub Stay On The River - The manager Phil was brilliant. Food was delicious, bar staff friendly. Ample parking. Right on the river Thames We had no issues but you need to carry your suitcase upstairs
- sharon (10/5): - Friendly staff on arrival and throughout the stay excellent food
- JUAN CARLOS (9/5): BONITO HOTEL RURAL - Excelente ubicación para explorar los Cotswolds. Buen desayuno.
- Nik (7/5): -
- Lucia (8/5): -
- Janice (10/5): Great place to stay. - Lovely pub, good location. Nothing
- Denis (9/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): -
- Jeff (9/5): -
- Robert (7/5): -
- Steve (6/5): - The breakfast was good and the staff nice The room was freezing when we entered it. We complained to the staff and they said the thermostat worked off the temperature in the corridor which didn't help us. They provided a seperate heater.
Despite paying extra for a river view the view was of the roof of the dining area and of a tree.
- Natalie (7/5): -
- Margaret (8/5): - The location, friendly and helpful staff. Good food and variety of menu.
- Anne (8/5): -
- Jennifer (9/5): We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and after a difficult journey, we’re made to feel comfortable and welcome - Relaxed atmosphere, helpful staff, lovely location, comfortable room We would have preferred a double bed rather than 2 singles pushed together.
A better mixer on the shower ..water could be very hot
- Debby (6/5): great location, friendly staff but needs updating. - The location was great , on the banks of the river Thames and within 15 mins drive to Oxford so great place as a base . Our room was very tired looking, plaster coming off in 1 place , wallpaper peeling off in another and the headboard behind the bed was all scuffed and had lots of marks on it. The pub and the room needed a really good clean , window sills , floors in the toilets and the stair bannister were really dirty .
- Marc (10/5): - Breakfast is the best and great value for money that includes premium coffee and orange juice etc.
- Roger (8/5): Lovely couple of days in a beautiful part of the country - Fantastic location on the Thames Menu typical of pub chains, lots of fried food but tasty none the less
- Judy (8/5): Comfortable, unpretentious and relaxing. Recommend . - Location excellent ..right by the Thames. Friendly staff. Good food at reasonable price . It was all fine
- Andy (10/5): -
- todd (8/5): good for one night - The room was cozy and bed comfortable. We did not get the room we booked but after some discussion they fixed this and moved us. Aimee who served us at dinner was so lovely, she will go a long way in Hospitality! In total contract to Aimee, the young man with the tattoos and beard behind the bar should not be ever in a public serving role. He is nothing but rude and dismissive. gave the impression he would rather be at home on his X Box.
- Daylesh (9/5): ideal for short break and stay for thames walk - great location friendly staff
- Graham (1/5): This 'hotel' is living on its past, overpriced and HUGELY disappointing. - Breakfast(full English) was pleasant enough - but no more than average. Location was fine.
Other than that, I struggle to find ANYTHING that comes even CLOSE to justifying either the price or the reputation of this establishment. - See below for my reasons. Everything. The double room was tiny, with barely room for two peopleto move around - certainly NOT worth £100+ per night. In addition there is a lethal step down as you enter (even though there is a warning sign outside the door), accompanied by a floor sloping away both sideways and forwards, which will help you fall if you miss the step - as I nearly did!
Generally speaking, the personal presentation of staff in terms of hair, tattoos and clothing is very poor indeed. The female staffmember serving it to some guests on the first morning looked like washerwoman from the nineteenth century. At lunch, one girl did not even bother to take her overcoat off, another looked like a dropout from the Addams Family - semi-Goth, with tattooos up both (uncovered) arms, whitened face, (like a clown), with black mascara dragged upwards from her eyebrows. - No attempt whatsoever t even partial uniformity (- unlike the Maybush pub across the road).
For Sunday lunch I ordered beef rump off the bone - supposedly pink, but actually grey (although there was a reasonable amount of it and it was reasonably tender). The vegetables comprised half a dozen very small boiled potatoes, two very thin strips of julienned carrot - not even half a mouthful - one very small, skinny parsnip cut lengthwise, a serve of broccoli that would not have filled a dessert spoon, and three shredded strands of cabbage that was supposedluy meant to be al dente but was actually raw - and cold!!!
At ANY price, let alone £20+, this meal was unacceptable.
- Paul (8/5): Great location and good food. - Great location. Lighting was all or nothing
- Jackie (5/5): Comfortable room for staying and quite but busy pub - Good view of the Thames Pub had been very busy quite dirty in toilets and restaurant and bar areas.
Not had time to clear tables and floors dirty either food.
- Ian (9/5): Great stay. We would return in fact we did! - Initial staff were a bit snippy. However they warmed up and we felt really welcome by the end of stay.
Food was good although not excellent.
Room was small but good. Good daily service. Decaff coffee in rooms was a bit tasteless. Toad in hole needed more hole!
Often meals or drinks were unavailable.
Slow service at front desk.
Too much verbal info at checkin.
- Helen (8/5): -
- Natalia (10/5): -
- Ashlee (10/5): -
- Joanne (9/5): Great value, friendly, helpful staff. - The rooms were lovely, good value for money. Central location to visit the surrounding areas. Need a mirror near a plug socket.
- Schatz (8/5): A pleasant start. - Good quality food, both breakfast and evening meal Situated on the banks of the River Thames in a scenic countryside. Well located for a variety of interesting places. Nothing of note.
- Malcolm (9/5): -
- michael (9/5): good accomodation and food .Enjoyable overnight stay - location right on the river good food and accomodation a welcome place after a long day on the Thames Path nothing

- Angalique (10/5): A Beautiful Location - Beautiful Inn with a magical location on the river. Couldn't have picked a better Inn to stay. We'll definitely return. Nothing! It was perfect!
- Ronnie (10/5): - A lovely room, very friendly and helpful staff. Very peaceful, had a good night's sleep. I liked that the shower room and toilet were separate. The bedroom was a very good size and various options for hot drinks were provided. Breakfast was excellent. Nothing. A great place to rest my head for the night.
- Julie (10/5): Gorgeous, great hospitality and location - Absolutely beautiful, fabulous location to discover the Cotswolds.
- Abby (8/5): Lovely stay on the Thames Path - Great location for the Thames Path, cosy room, comfy bed, great food and friendly staff.
- Margaret (6/5): - I defy anyone to be able to open the oversized sachet of coffee on the tea tray in the room.
- Anthony (9/5): - Located right next to the Thames Path. Really friendly staff. Lovely dinner and breakfast. Nothing
- ROB (9/5): -
- Anne (7/5): -
- Rebecca (6/5): - Perfect location for walking the Thames Path. Great pub and restaurant. Tiny bathroom, very hard to move around. Only gave us one towel.
Hot room, windows didn’t open enough.
Expensive but they are the only option on the river.
- Scilla (8/5): It was fine but expensive - Nice by the river Poor vegetarian breakfast fruit was an apple and a brown banana and a small croissant and it was quite noisy on the road
- Elaine (8/5): - Beautiful location, ideal for walking Thames path. Delicious good value dinner
