Guest Reviews
- Lara (10/5): A hidden gem!!! - Everything. Wonderful food reasonably priced. Staff were so lovely.
- Frances (8/5): Good food and a good night's sleep after a very long drive. - Check in was efficient and friendly. Rooms were well equipped - coffee pods and a kettle. Iron and hairdryer also available. Lovely view looking towards the Loch. My only criticism is that the restaurant was very dark making it quite difficult to see what you were actually eating, although the food was good, and the staff were very attentive and helpful.
- Hayley (9/5): -
- Kai (10/5): - These are professionals! We had a great time in a comfy room. Clean, window to the lake, big breakfast. Good location. Everything high standard.
- David (10/5): -
- Sheena (10/5): - The location was excellent. Beds comfortable, great shower.
Staff very welcoming and helpful.
We got dinner there and were not chased away from our table when we stayed and chatted for v ages with a friend who'd driven an hour to see us . Breakfast was included and was absolutely delicious. Nothing really, even when we couldn't get a park when we arrived, staff were easy going and just directed us to the disabled park.
- Suse (9/5): -
- Thomas (7/5): Good stop on way to Glasgow - Very quaint. Nice old pub in space A little tired and dated, no tv
- Rebecca (10/5): Perfect overnight stay for visiting the Loch Lomond area - Lovely location overlooking the loch, comfortable room
- Joseph (8/5): Picturesque Old Inn in beautiful location - Small, as advertised, room. Our room (#9) was organized to maximize the space. Bed and pillow were fine. Tub with shower was ok (though I prefer separate shower). I knew about the arrangement when I booked. Easy to find, parking available, nice paved walking path along the water to town. Bar and restaurant on premises. Many outside tables with view over Loch if weather cooperates. Breakfast was standard. 1 hour to Glasgow airport. Bit noisy from fire door slamming outside our room (don't think people did intentionally.) We could hear walking around over our heads so might want to ask for higher room if this is a problem for you. This is an old inn with character so less sound proofing is to be expected.
- alison (10/5): - Lovely place to stay
- Kateřina (10/5): - Everything was perfect. The check-in process was simple, and the staff were friendly and provided all the necessary information.
We had a lovely room for three people, which was spacious, including the bathroom. We especially appreciated the spotless cleanliness and the comfortable amenities, including a coffee machine.
The inn is surrounded by beautiful scenery and has a very pleasant atmosphere. The breakfasts were generous and delicious, with plenty of options for everyone.
- Hollie (10/5): Perfect stay and lovely staff - Lovely classic pub hotel with nice rooms. The breakfast was amazing. If you can book a room with a view it’s definitely worth the extra. The staff were so kind and accommodating and really helped us when we needed a last minute room. If you’re looking for a hotel in Arrochar this is definitely where to stay Nothing
- mark (10/5): Really enjoyed our one night stay - Great location great staff lovely food Apparently it was due to close on the Friday after we left for some refurbishment which was a shame
- John (9/5): -
- Beverley (10/5): Fab location with great food! - Fabulous location N/A
- Angela (9/5): Brilliant stay, would definitely recommend 😊 - Set in a lovely location, comfortable, clean, friendly and welcoming, the room was lovely and quiet. Hard to find anything I didn’t like about the property.
- Damerill (10/5): - Location lovely Building staff was great
Food and room was lovely Highly recommend.
- Ian (10/5): It was our third stay and we will be making it four. - Dinner was very good, well cooked and nicely presented a pleasure to eat.
The weather was good and sitting outside made the few days even more pleasurable. The only negative comment would be our bathroom could do with a little more shelving.
- Super gastvrij personeel. ‘s avonds heerlijk gegeten in de pub. Kamers zijn van alle gemakken voorzien en netjes schoon. Prima ontbijt. Niets.
- Nicholas (9/5): Pleasant overnight stay- steak pie was excellent ! - Position - cosy atmosphere and comfort. Poached eggs at breakfast were overcooked - seriously.
- Gouveia (8/5): Amazing. Next time I will make sure to stay for at least two days. Thank you so much guys - Staff was amazing
Location was beautiful
Cottage was impecable, warm and tidy
Bathroom was lovely as well The food @ dinner was not so good, lacked some seasoning overall
Desserts were disappointing
Breakfast was ok but again, lacking on some seasoning. We got in at 9h15 and the buffet table started to be cleared at 9h25, we felt a wee bit rushed
- alison (10/5): -
- ElfaP (10/5): - An amazing location looking over Loch Long. It was lovely to stroll along the lake in the morning and evening. Staff were excellent. Room was cozy and beds were comfortable. It was nice to get a hot breakfast included along with the continental breakfast. Nothing

- cazlin (10/5): Brilliant stay, brilliant staff - We booked The Village Inn for two nights as part of a special 70th train trip of Scotland for my husband's birthday.
The hotel/pub itself is a lovely old building that used to be a Manse.
There is a fantastic view over the loch so if you want that view you need to request a room facing that way.
The interior decor is lovely and the bar is particularly cosy. Our room was large, clean and lovely.
The staff are all friendly, helpful, and work extremely hard even when extremely busy.
We had one evening meal there and two breakfasts. The food is lovely especially the smashed avocado on toast.
Great choice, and they have a soup, pie, and crumble of the day.
I mentioned that it was my husband's birthday and they left some chocolates and a card in the room. This was a lovely gesture and really helped to make the trip special.
David the manager was friendly, efficient, helpful and went one step further to make my husband's 70th birthday trip really special by leaving chocolates and a card in the room. His email communication was also excellent. The only thing that was a bit distracting was on the first morning we arrived at 9.30am for breakfast the session finished at 10am. Before we finished our meal the staff member asked if he could clear the breakfast items away. He did ask and we said yes but we felt a bit rushed and we happened to be sitting in front of the breakfast buffet table.
- Allt! Läget, personalen, maten och parkering. Jag saknade yoghurt till frukosten.
- Varuna (8/5): Incredible location and welcoming staff! - Friendly staff and excellent pub level food. Nothing
- Field (8/5): Wow..what a place - Location excellent..rooms were lovely..comfy and clean.
Team was very good Television didn't work.
Restaurant was very busy during the day so evening menu was depleted
- David (10/5): - Great staff and service, evening food and breakfast excellent nothing
- Kacie (9/5): -
- Graham (9/5): - Helpful & friendly service, great food, excellent location Room was a little tired.
Niets
- Stephanie (10/5): - Location was great. Price was high for1 night
- Suzanne (10/5): - Het super vriendelijke personeel. Het ontbijt
- Thomason (9/5): - Comfortable, great location , friendly and good food
- Ian (9/5): - Location
- Randall (10/5): Expectation meets reality. - Just what we were looking for. Did not disappoint with a beautiful view of lake.
- William (9/5): Little secret hidden amongst lovely scenario and lot better than the large hotels by miles - Location Nothing
- alison (6/5): - Friendly staff Cigarette butts everywhere
- Larisa (10/5): - We had such a great stay hereeveryone was incredibly kind and made us feel so welcome. It’s also connected to a pub with really good food, which was such a nice bonus after a long day. Would definitely come back!
- Wayne (8/5): Would highly recommend this inn ! - The location was great, it’s a charming pub, restaurant was very good Rooms are very small
- James (9/5): - Position was good and the bar. Staff were good too Bed was a bit soft and gave back ache. Really hot in the night.
- Tracy (10/5): Friendly staff, great food, lovely ambience, stunning location. - Perfect location If I had to be picky the bed was a little hard, but that personal choice as I like a soft bed.
- Natalie (9/5): A lovely little pub with a great restaurant and a stunning location. Perfect for an affordable weekend away. - Location is 2nd to none. Right on the water in a beautiful and quiet little village.
The pub itself is a great little local spot and would invariably become my local if I lived nearby.
The food they do is also excellent. If not particularly interesting. It’s well made, good quality and filling. Also good value for money given the location etc.
The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was stunning and very well presented. The bed, was a little uncomfortable, but not out of the ordinary for hotels/inns/b&b’s so it was acceptable.
Sadly the safe in the room didn’t work and the fridge wasn’t on so wasn’t cold.
It was very hot and no way to open the window as far as we could tell (given how old they are I’m not surprised).
The toilet roll was rather poor quality. Basically tissue paper. (Again, fairly typical).
Rien.
- Diane (10/5): -
- David (8/5): -
- jacqueline (10/5): Perfect stay, absolute gem - We have had a fantastic time. All staff were so friendly, helpful & accommodating. Food has been excellent as has the service. As far as the hotel room goes, I have never stayed in a hotel room that has thought of absolutely everything before. There was honestly nothing that was missing or needed. This is 5 star accommodation, food & service. I would definately stay again & highly recommend 👌 There was not anything to not like
- Tracy (9/5): Fabulous overnight stop - Lovely breakfast. The location was good for us because it was an overnight stop on the way to mull. Had a lovely stroll along the loch.
- paula (8/5): - Comfortable room, with breakfast included.
Friendly staff Would benefit from shelf in bathroom, towel rail wasn't on.
- cyril (8/5): - Accueil excellent, très beau cadre
- Susannah (9/5): Perfect stay! - Location stunning, staff were so welcoming and friendly, made us feel at home from the start. Food was delicious, freshly cooked and great value for money, breakfast was huge and set us up perfectly for a day of walking. Rooms had everything we needed, a perfect stay and definitely hope to be back. Nothing, loved it all. Only suggestion might be to have a couple more veggie options on the menu for those of us staying more than a couple of nights.
- Ogilvie (10/5): - Create value for money
- frederick (7/5): Excellent staff Ally and comfortabkecroom - Good breakfast lovely location Nil
- Romana (8/5): -
- Annelies (10/5): Sfeervolle, gezellige en traditionele locatie. Tot in de puntjes verzorgd. - Fantastische locatie!! Heel typische, traditionele Schotse pub en restaurant. Geweldig sfeervol ingericht. Ontbijt was schitterend.
- Sarah (10/5): Value for money and reached our expectations - Really enjoyed our stay we were very impressed by the friendly staff, hotel facilities and restaurant. Room was exactly as pictured and booked. The bed was very hard.
- Fleur (9/5): Comfortable stay - We needed a 1 night stop off while heading further north and we're really pleased we booked here. It was a large room, very clean and comfortable. The bar area was nice, and the restaurant was good.
- Carol (9/5): -
- Tracy (10/5): Excellent value. Great bang for the buck……or pound. - Clean rooms and large bathtub. The food from the restaurant was the best we’d eaten in the UK. All was well.
- Swain (7/5): - Lovely views. Room noisy with fan downstairs and breakfast wasn't very nice so didn't attempt food in the evening.
- Leonie (9/5): - Super idyllisch. Niks, was top
- ALAN (8/5): -
- Marc (4/5): Disappointing - Pub with rooms Needing refurbishment and a good clean
- Kevin (7/5): Reasonable value, nice bar and excellent staff. Friendly welcome. Very untidy grounds with overflowing bins and rubbish - Location, bar area, staff excellent. Bedroom not very clean.
Cama confortável, chuveiro bom e quarto aquecido.
Atendentes muito gentis.
- Graeme (9/5): Great overnight stop. Everything we needed and would definitely stay again. Highly recommended. - Great location, staff very welcoming and helpful, very comfortable room, good atmosphere in bar and restaurant, with very good quality food and drink.
- Andrea (10/5): Fantastic and lovely - The staff was absolutely lovely! This place is amazing! Public transporting up there can be a bit of a pill but beside that - nothing bad to put my finger on
- Andrew (8/5): -
- Tony (6/5): Fine for one night. - Nice staff
Good cooked breakfast
Convenient location
Quiet room Room location was a bit grotty. Room itself disappointing and in need of renovation. Door to ensuite did not close fully. TV did not work. Internet mostly also off....Planters by pub front door full of cigarette butts.
- Anthony (10/5): -
- Holloway (5/5): - Room, location and staff. Breakfast
- Carrie (6/5): Ok stay - Staff were pleasant When we made the booking, it was asked time of arrival which is earlier than check in time of 3pm, all we received was an automated reply of “declined” with no follow up message, very impersonal! Least could’ve done was replied along the line of “sorry we’re unable to accommodate your request but if you do arrive earlier, feel free to enjoy a drink in the pub first while we get your room ready” or something similar?! It’s a hospitality business after all?
Also broken lock on door, no connection to TV, no one was at front desk when checking out- just left room key on front desk and off one goes!
