Guest Reviews
- Judata (6/5): - Check-in was interesting when the hotel didn't have our Expedia reservation. Staff were every accommodating by giving us an apartment across the road instead of the room that was booked. However, the apartment was unprepared for guests and some essentials were missing from the room which were provided by the night porter. Open louvre windows could have explained the insects and slight road dust in the apartment kitchen on arrival. The staff did their best but it was not the experience we were hoping for, though breakfast was great.
- Robert (6/5): - The hotel has potential but would benefit from improvements in several areas.
On the bright side, the hot water worked well, and the internet connection was stable throughout my stay. However, noise was a noticeable issue—sounds from neighboring rooms and above were quite audible. Adding soundproofing to the walls and windows would go a long way in enhancing guest comfort. While earplugs are provided, I found them uncomfortable to wear through the night.
The rooms are compact, which is understandable, but adding a few basic amenities like a mini-fridge would make the stay more convenient. A hallway water dispenser was unfortunately empty during my two-night stay, and no bottled water was provided in the room—something that’s generally expected in hotels worldwide.
Breakfast is offered through a nearby restaurant. I tried it once for breakfast and once for dinner, but found the meals lacking in both flavor and presentation. While the restaurant operates independently, it’s part of the overall guest experience, and the quality might be worth reviewing.
Lastly, the bed linens were quite worn out. Though clean, some old stains were still visible. Replacing them with newer sets would improve the impression of cleanliness and comfort.
- Jorge a.k.a. George (8/5): - I didnt like the traffic noise and the annoying barking dog. This is my second stay and found the same dog still there barking. I asked myself why the Hotel management doesn't talk to the dog's owner about the dogs barking.
I thought the price was reasonable.
- Janet (10/5): - Great view of city lights and sunrise from enclosed terrace. Friendly staff. Games available for kids. Great breakfast.

- allen (10/5): Good place and price - It was very clean and helpful staff.
It is just a long way to Cartago central. 4000 colones taxi. Good food and safe
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean, quiet place. No deadbolt or lock from inside so I didn't feel very safe. No amenities like refrigerator, coffee maker or air conditioning. The weather was comfortable though.
- Zsuzsanna (10/5): Great hotel - Great hotel to stay at with friendly staff. Room was huge, clean and comfortable. It's quite despite it's location along the freeway. Very good breakfast with options, on-site free and gated parking.
- Matthias (10/5): - A little bit far from Cartago center
- Christopher (8/5): Get a room away from the main road. - If you stay here, be sure to ask for one of the rooms to the right of the parking lot, NOT upstairs. Our first night was upstairs and miserable; the road noise is loud and continuous, you can hear everything that happens in reception, and the walls are paper thin to the point that I could hear the people in the room next to us using the toilet. We told them we weren't going to be able to stay the second night and the very helpful staff showed us one of the rooms farther from the road and it was like a completely different and we had zero issues.
Breakfast was delicious, the staff was wonderful, rooms were clean...just avoid the upstairs room like the plague.
- Daniel (10/5): - Cartago has very limited hotel options but Hotel Las Brumas was a great little place to base. They have 16 brand new rooms which we didn’t get but are much larger. I’d recommend asking for them. The breakfast was great next door at Mi Tierra which is also a great place to eat dinner. There are some fantastic restaurants close by that I’d recommend as well. Woods Pizza is absolutely amazing. The vibe is strong and the pizza is very good. Mama Lila is an Argentinian steakhouse in a 100 year old house and I’d argue would be at home in any world class city. Cannot say enough about this place and their team. Gubser Ticino is a really solid family run Italian style place with fresh pasta. The chef is from the very southern tip of Switzerland but has a great sense of Italian food.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Would stay again - Staff at the front desk were very helpful and friendly and spoke reasonable English fortunately. Car park with locked gate. Room and bathroom spacious but only a small ledge to put things on in bathroom. Restaurant attached with average food. This was early in covid before we found out we had to leave the country early and social distancing was practiced. Good advice on country road outside the Volcano which was closed down.
- Edward (6/5): Good place but there may be better - If you are going to the Irazu volcano, this hotel's location is perfect; however, the hotel is on a busy highway with many trucks using their brakes and horns. If you are not interested in their location, there may be better choices somewhere else in Cartago. The room was large and very clean, as was the entire facility. Security was also very good. I wish there had been an English speaking channel on the cable service so the evenings passed quicker. The staff was very helpful, even resetting wifi. Good breakfasts were provided in the restaurant next door.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean. Staff helpful and speak English. Quiet for this area.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location to circling there are in the food of Irazu volcano
- Lisa (8/5): - Good staff and service.
Not many amenities, but for basics it's good.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - For work, that set!. I have a project around the zone and that place help me to be closer.
- Gilda M (10/5): Great place. - Great place!! My family was very happy
- Rolando (8/5): Bueno - Muy bueno
- Verified traveler (8/5): Friendly and helpful - The staff and those at the restaurant were very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. May be the best view of Cartago. It was a little cold, but lots of blankets. Watch your step though - a lot of uneven surfaces on the grounds. Save money by booking directly with the hotel. Pretty quiet most of the time compared to other hotels in the area. Secure parking. Great restaurant, free breakfast with no cut-offf time.
- Robin (8/5): Nice staff - Hotel is close to the supermarket and not far away from Irazu volcano
- Debby M (6/5): Misunderstanding - I thought I reserved a room in a hotel that was pet friendly. When I checked in I took my small dog in with me and the man at the check in desk never said a word. The next night my sister went to the check in desk to get fresh towels and they refused. No explanation because they did not speak English. They told her to come back the next day. When I went back to the front desk the next day to get our breakfast card and inquire why they did not service our room and the toilet did not work, a different man told us we were not suppose to have pets. I told him I checked the "Pet Friendly" box but he said they were not pet friendly. He was very rude. I asked him why the first man allowed us to check in. Shrugged shoulders! Apparently that was why I did not get the room I reserved and were put in a room across the parking lot.
