- SONIA (5/5): outside brilliant, inside not so comfortable - The building is a beautiful majestic old building and right in front of the sea side , although we did not see from our bedroom. The restaurant staff were very friendly and so did the night recptionist Room clean but we request front room on the booking and we got a back room, when we complained the male reception attending simply chook his shoulder and blamed Trivago. We ended up with a view of scafolding. The window had brown marks on the edges, the bathroom door damage filled and painted not repaired. Although the bedroom was clean it wasn't that pleasant.

- Gordon (2/5): Not for me - The location of the hotel was excelllent, the room was quite small for 2 people, breakfast was good but too early for us As a traditionalist I thought that this beautifull old hotel has been destroyed by putting modern furniture and wall paper in it, the bar area looked more like a milk bar from the 60s with no atmosphere, if I had known in advance that it was a coach hotel catering for mostly old age pensioners and no evening meals after 6.30pm I would not have booked it.
- Lauren (4/5): Disappointing - Comfortable bed and great location. I have no doubt this was once an stunning and beautiful hotel, but... The interior is incredibly tired Our bath had hairs in it which we mentioned to the receptionist before we headed out after check-in but they were still there upon our return in the evening so we did the cleaners job for them. Breakfast - it's the first time I've been offered a continental option without pastries. My husband and I asked had cooked options. He specidically said no beans, but they were piled on anyway. There was a large coach group in the main dinind room so he opted to eat around them knowing the one person on breakfast duty was very busy. I opted for scrambled eggs on toast. The eggs were over cooked, dry and rubbery and were cold by the time my toast arrived. After breakfast, I asked reception for an ironing board. He gave it to me there and I then had to carry it up 4 flights of stairs with the iron - not great service at all. On 2 occasions, once leaving, and once returning to the hotel we had to help customers with walkers up and down the stairs. Considering the majority clientale of the hotel and the fact there is only stair access, I would expect someone to be on hand to help with this at all times.
- Michael (7/5): No Sea Views available. - Room and location for central Weymouth Couldn't get a sea view, although booked months in advance. Found out only once I'd arrived, that there was scaffolding from top to bottom all over the hotel mostly on the front for renovation purposes. Scaffolding was across the sea view windows, so I assume that's why there were no sea view rooms available, but was not informed of this.

- Jase (7/5): - The view from my room was perfect Because I came to watch the Weymouth Beach race. The breakfast wasn't very good though. It took ages to be served and when it did come out it wasn't very hot. The breakfast wasn't great. It wasn't very hot.
- Kimberley (10/5): Fantastic service - Staff were very friendly, room was very spacious and comfy and I was impressed with how big the bathroom was for a standard room. Facilities were excellent. My only criticism is small. I am a bit on the curvy side and the chairs in the bar and lounge were a but too small as I have wide hips so it wasn't very comfortable to sit down

Plenty of seats to relax on in the bar area. The breakfast buffet could have been a little more varied and imaginative, but the cooked breakfast menu was varied and good. The breakfast seating area being near the reception desk and opposite the hotel entrance area had a bit of a poor atmosphere - it was rather like eating in a hallway. The staff were polite and helpful though.

- Pauline (8/5): Enjoyed our stay at the Royal Hotel will definitely be visiting again. - Room excellent Bed quite comfortable though pillows were a bit firm. Lovely seafront view. Bit drafty by the balcony double doors though didn’t seem to bother us really as we had central heating in our room. Bathroom & shower modern and very clean. Excellent service with tea coffee making facilities. Just a couple of minor Our breakfast time was a bit early 8.40am. I take heart medication in the morning and need a bit of time to rally round but we still managed the breakfast time every morning. I did ask for a Alternative later time but Unfortunately that was not available.We still enjoyed our stay at the Royal we had visited in the past with Alfa Coaches. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Our breakfast slot made later would have been better for health reasons. And due to other health conditions softer pillows would have been better for me which would have given me a better night sleep.

When we sat down the lady came over and quite rudely pointed out that our breakfast wasn’t included and that we’d have to pay the reception the cost of the breakfast, which of course is standard when you check out. The way they made us feel was like we were going to do a bunk without paying. As for the breakfast it was by far the worst breakfast I’ve ever experienced.
- AMANDA (6/5): DON'T STAY AT THE ROYAL HOTEL, IT IS A B&B ONLY - Selected this hotel as wanted to take my 82 year old mother to somewhere that had a restaurant so we could eat in if required, was shocked to find that even though we were residents that they could not serve us any evening meals in the restaurant as were fully booked with a resident coach party. This hotel should be advertised as a b&b as that is all it is and would have been cheaper to stay somewhere else with the same facilities offered. Breakfast was passable but not a great selection and buffet not replenished so had to ask for bowls, butter etc. Would not recommend or stay here again, booked an evening meal at the nearby Rex hotel which was excellent and the staff actually wanted to serve you.

Breakfast was ok warm but considering it was included with the room price, good value. Parking was difficult to find however we found a space at the rear for £6 a day.

I was concerned that our room door did not shut properly . Just needs a minor adjustment and also the fire door on the top of the stairs did not shut fully. We love weymouth and often come for the day .lots to keep u busy in Weymouth but also surrounding area.lots to visit...... - Mark (8/5): Our Weymouth Trip - We arrived early so stowed our bags around reception area. The receptionist was helpful with a dry sense of humour. When we returned there was a different receptionist on duty who was not as helpful or friendly but it didn’t spoil our first day in Weymouth. The Superior Room was spacious and on the whole, very clean. It had an en-suite with a separate toilet area. The window and blind looked like it hasn’t been cleaned for a while yet we were comfortable with the room. We had tea and coffee facilities with a coffee maker too. There was no phone in the room to contact reception but apart from requiring extra coffee pods we didn’t need anything else anyway. The breakfast was sufficient and the staff in the restaurant were very helpful indeed. The hotel itself is just a four minute walk from the train station and is perfectly placed on the promenade for nearby shops and restaurants should you require them. We will definitely be back as we thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Weymouth and we would recommend this hotel too.

Issues with bathroom plumbing- I had to adjust ballcock to stop significant overspill from toilet tank, and toilet also blocked later in stay. Welcome at reception was not especially friendly. Overall, though, this was good value for money.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Most disappointing hotel - Unfortunately we opened our room door, the smell of musty/sewerage hit us, we opened the window which was left open for the duration of our stay which really is not the accepted done thing, at the beginning of February. The bathroom had peeling paint, dust and an plenty of loose hair on the flat surfaces and the sewerage smell prevailed in there. No hotel information pack in bedroom which you would normally expect in a very basic B&B. Had to spend sometime at reception as on my confirmation we had breakfast but they had as room only...so had to present my hotels.com confirmation to obtain breakfast for my wife and I. Very disappointed with this hotel and surprised its on Hotels.com list as the worst hotel I've ever booked through this site whether for business or pleasure, which is plentiful. Beautiful hotel from outside but very disappointing inside. I understand they have new ownership, i only hope they have what it takes to bring it back to its formal glory. Unfortunately for my wife and I the little break away with sea view was spoiled.

- Laura (8/5): Stunning Victorian hotel in great location - This historic hotel is an amazing building in a prime location. But like most Victorian seaside hotels, it needs work inside to bring it back to its hey day. The hallways have peeling wallpaper and damp spots, and some floorboards are a bit spongey. But never the less, it's charming, clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was a little disappointing, pretty standard fare, but the breakfast room itself was beautiful - overlooking the sea front. The staff were all charming and terribly helpful. We will be back!

- yvonne (8/5): Change to review - We had a lovely stay at the royal hotel .Was nice and comfortable beautiful xmas decorations .Staff polite. We stayed before ,last year and was confused about how they did breakfasts and no evening meal this time .They do have offer of food in a different part of hotel my the bar .We do realise it is out of season but this was one of the reasons we were returning. Perhaps should be included in there review of hotel .but we did have a lovely time and will be back x
- Michaela (10/5): - Great location couple of minutes walk from the train station. Great breakfast - plenty of choice. Hotel has a lift which made getting around in the hotel much easier. Dog friendly hotel, mention to reception when booking if you want a room away from dogs. We had a superior room which had a great view and was a good size. Would we stay again - yes we would!
- Les (10/5): Best hotel in Weymouth - Best hotel in Weymouth. Overlooking the beach. Near the shops and restaurants. Quays a short pleasant walk away. Hotel very old but well presented for its age. I always stay here if i can, when visiting Weymouth. Reception staff are very welcoming and friendly. Always willing to help too.

- Darren (10/5): - Sea front hotel, close to the attractions and harbour where you can find plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. Friendly staff who were helpful, clean large room with comfortable bed, good breakfast. I would say the windows could do with cleaning and refurbishment but this doesn’t spoil your stay. All in all I would recommend staying.
- Angela (10/5): In-laws' favourite hotel! - Stay was for in-laws, who have stayed here several times before, and this hotel is always their first choice. The rooms are lovely, the food is very good, and the staff are incredibly welcoming & helpful. Plus, you cannot beat the location!! I have no doubt they will be back again in the near future!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Overnight stop - Entrance and building superb, views from front and side are amazing. Some rooms have been updated whilst some not. Shower was not good, very slow. Staff extremely efficient and friendly- breakfast very good.

- Verified traveler (8/5): We would recommend. - Our stay was good. The restaurant and bar staff were very friendly and polite. The cleanliness was good. It is an old hotel could do with some updating on window sills and painting. All the furniture we found too heavy to move and not very comfortable. Breakfast was good there was a pretty good variety of items, except for the scrambled egg which looked and tasted like egg custard. The evening meals you had to wait to long for the menu to go up and if you were staying for a week or more the menus repeated twice. The selections on the menus were very simple. The chef could do with being more creative with meals. The portion sizes were great. More entertainment would have been nice, we only had one night. I know it was out of season but the hotel was still quite busy. The rooms were nice and big we had a sea view and it was great. We would stay there again. The location of the hotel is great for the beach, town and harbour.

- Les (8/5): 2 night stay - Room large and comforable. Had some heavy rain one day, and bathroom extractor fan started leaking water through. Soon sorted by great friendly staff. Was even offered another room in case of re occuring. But was fo e after that. Very helpful.
- Stephen (10/5): Perfect Location - We stayed here and found the location excellent for walking along the sea front or shopping, we managed to park our car right outside the front door and because we had Blue Badges we could park indefinitely as long as we only displayed the blue badge information and not the clock card, receptionist told us this, she was a great help with information, we had a Sea view room and would recommend it for the spectacular sunrise and sunsets we saw, even watching cruise ships passing, breakfast was great, more then enough choice for us, Weymouth was a place we had never been too but really liked it, if you like Italian food just a few doors on the esplanade up is Enzo restaurant which is excellent, will definitely stay at the Royal hotel again

- Sophie (10/5): - Nice hotel. Stayed in a twin room with a sea view. The sea view was definitely worth it as it was a picturesque view from our room. Hotel is dated with wallpaper peeling in some places, but the room and bathroom were both clean. Staff were friendly. Only issue is that the hotel is lacking a storage room for bag drops. We were told to put our bags in the restaurant, which didn’t feel very safe. An allocated locked room would have felt more secure.
- Shirley (8/5): - Our rooms were very spacious and we had a sea view, which was great. It all needs updating and we would have liked fresh water and hot chocolate with the choice of drinks. Otherwise 👍
