Guest Reviews
- Lee (10/5): - Everything
- Ashley (10/5): Great - Nice
- Randy (8/5): -
- David (9/5): -
- Pittman (10/5): Wonderful stay - Everything was very clean. The woman that checked us in was also very accommodating and friendly. Maybe a couple of towels.
- Martina (9/5): - the rooms are very spacious dirty carpet in the rooms
- Diamond (2/5): My experience was poor. - The bed was comfortable Room hadn't been cleaned thoroughly and needed repairs, poor communication with staff over the phone concerning reservation
- Blocker (2/5): Never again - The looks of it and had a indoor pool The bloody pull out bed the water down eggs the sausage they served looked under cooked
- Sameera (6/5): -
- Matthew (8/5): - Nice accommodations but needs to provide better towels, wash cloths, and body soap.
- Ernette (8/5): - The breakfast was delicious, I had trouble using the stove over 360 temperature 9
- Mary (Bette) (4/5): - The property was fine. However, it seemed to be run by a family with many of the desk staff being insufficiently trained to respond to common questions. I asked at the desk if they could help book transport to the airport and was told no. I asked again, later, due to difficulties with booking transport with a Canadian postal code and was told that cabs are obsolete. After providing a number, the manager did call, eventually. Then, I was overcharged on the bill. I travel often and haven't experienced this lack of willingness of staff to help, previously.
- Sandra (10/5): - It was very clean and it was quiet!
- rebecca (8/5): - The breakfast was the worst part of the stay. Not many options and wasn’t even utilized at the end
- John (10/5): - Love it
- Michael (8/5): - Nice hotel, but the breakfast was a bit lame this time
- Humaira (9/5): Great experience, highly recommend - The cleanliness
Enjoyed the bed and the room
- John (10/5): - Awesome
- Martina M (6/5): It was a good fit for our family while staying in the area. - Location and up to date. Shannon upgraded us to a larger room. She was so friendly and helpful. Getting us extra towels and toiletries. The staff was nice, friendly and helpful. Our room had mold on the air conditioner in the back bedroom. The pool was cloudy. Appeared dirty. After going in once, my family didn’t go back in.
- John (10/5): - Friendly staff great room
- Stacy (8/5): - The hot tub was not working and that is the reason I booked the hotel.
- D'Andre (8/5): average - facilties was nice customer service was horrible. Manager was very rude
- Dauja (4/5): - Multiple issues with this property. The first was not their fault, it was through Expedia. When I explained the issue with the lady at the front desk, she was a bit rude. Next, I was put into a room that did not look cleaned at all. The bed sheets were dirty, the room smelled and there was hair/dirt in the bathroom. They accommodated and moved me to another room where I heard what sounded like a mouse or rustling near the vent. I checked out a day early. I was uncomfortable staying.
Heads up:
The jacuzzi is not in use! Looks like it may be under construction.
It was not worth the money honestly.
- John (10/5): - Great Hotel
- Vanessa (2/5): - I accidentally double booked this property. I stayed May 30th And online accidentally booked the road for June 13 as well. I used Travelocity by Expedia, who I have traveled with many times. And forfeit my Marriott points.
- Seema (2/5): Very poor -
- Patrice (10/5): - This was a great a Mother’s Day weekend, we had a good time in this hotel.
- Lorna (4/5): Room overated and very small - Good location So small it was like living on a boat
- Kevin (2/5): - .
- Jacob (10/5): - Great
- Patrice (9/5): Comfortable, and quiet! - It was good and quite
- leong1961 (2/5): I am disgusted in the uncaring attitude of this hotel. - My daughter is currently at this hotel. She checked in yesterday and let me tell you, this is the most incompetent staff I have ever seen in my life. Instead of charging one night, which is customary, they charged her entire stay ahead of time on her Debit Card and is now going to have overdraft fees in the $100's of Dollars. I filled out and sent them a credit card authorization for her entire stay, but they then continued to put another authorization on her card for incidentals after they charged her for the entire stay on her debit card. They could care less. I worked for Marriott for 15 years and have been in the hotel industry for 35+ years and have never seen anything like this in my life. I have been a full Service General Manager for 400+ room properties and this is the most uncaring group of people I have ever seen. Whatever franchise runs this property needs to rethink the managers here. Customer care is not that difficult. This needs to be taken care of immediately.
- J (10/5): - Very clean and nice.
- China (6/5): - Room smelt like smoke and didn’t feel clean. Walls looked run down.
- Tanisha (5/5): Visiting - Offer me towels staff is very unfriendly. I won’t be returning to this hotel in two months for my visit to Detroit.
- Nevette (8/5): - I stay at this hotel each time I’m in Canton for work. It’s close to everything.
Love the hotel. Not a fan of the $200 to $300 hold on my card (the guy said $300 on the phone but they charged me $200)
And they could definitely use better towels but I’ll probably stay here again
- Joshua (10/5): - It was good
- Charles (7/5): Good - Not good Never will deal with booking .com again never had a prepaid room
- Eulanda (2/5): - Not much good about my stay. The pool water and jacuzzi was dirty. The front desk worker was rude to me and I witnessed her being rude with another family.
- Michael (10/5): Nice Marriott - Nice Marriott location
- Daniel (2/5): - My booking was cancelled as Expedia didn’t give them a good credit card. They wanted to charge me near double and basically said it sucks to be me.I had no idea my booking was cancelled.
- Shakaila (6/5): Not the best, not the worst.. - The room itself was okay, could probably be updated some. We had an issue with the tv volume which wouldn’t go down, front desk tried to help but was unsuccessful. I did complain about kids making a ton of noise in the next room & front desk immediately resolved the issue. The breakfast area was very clean but the food itself wasn’t the best. Wasn’t the best stay but wasn’t the worst either.
- Desiree (8/5): Almost perfect - Room was lovely. Coffee pot cracked they replaced it right away. Bed was one of the most comfortable ive ever slept on. Very friendly staff.
The only issue was our room was right directly over the lobby, they played music all night long very loud it was instrumental nice music but too loud. There was a speaker outside which made it louder for us right above them. I called the front desk at 1 am no one answered. I had trouble sleeping all night. I was very very unhappy I had N early morning flight and am exhausted.
- Lorenzo (8/5): - Nice place
- Lynn (1/5): Terrible, rude staff - The breakfast was subpar they were out of alot of items at first but when they did bring it the food was not great. The sausage was under cooked and the eggs were runny. I bought two suites for New years eve. One of our rooms had a non working tv so they actually jad to move us, the other one door actually stopped working. We were supposed to have king size beds they were no kore than queens possibly fulls but told us they were "hotel kings" (I have a king size bed at home I know what a king size bed looks like). The room was dusty and looked like it hadn't been deep cleaned in a while. We cleaned the room when we left better then it was when we got there ,granted we had a good time, played games, exchanged gifts, had some drinks, so there were 4 bags of garbage and a bag of bottles all lined up at the door, used towels were all stacked in a pile in the bathroom nothing was left out of place. There was 8 of us for the 2 rooms so it did get a little loud a couple times they came and talked to us 1 time and we kept it down after that and they charged us an extra $100 for "noise complaints". The staff was rude and unhelpful. We hand some teenagers with us who brought towels from the pool to the room and the they were yelled at and told to bring them back to the pool like it they were going to steal them or something. I spent over $600 ($700 with the extra charge) dollars for 1 night of fun and the staff made it a horrible experience for us by being so terrible. I do not recommend staying here unless you are just as uptight as they are.
- Beverly (7/5): Nice but expected more - Loved the checking in and out process
Bed was comfortable Lighting in bathroom was dim
Whirlpool was not working
Draft at window and unable to sit near it
When running water in bathroom sink, you can smell mold
- Ricky (10/5): - Great amenities, very clean. Heater was noise. But would stay there again
- 482kathyh (2/5): Horrible - The facility cancelled my reservation for no reason. All of a sudden it was gone. No reason. When I arrived they told me that my credit card was denied. No such thing happened. The front desk staff were rude and the manager on duty was inconsiderate because I had just arrived in the city.
- Irene (4/5): - This hotel is over priced. You can find comparable hotels in the immediate vicinity for less. The room needed an update, the tv didn’t work, we had a pet room with carpet😯, we ran out of toilet paper. Felt like it was a cheaper hotel brand that Marriott bought, put their name on and raised the prices. Also pet fee was $120 for a 2 night stay.
- Jasmine (5/5): My stay was awful, my son birthday was a disappointment due to these different complaints - I did not like anything. I didn’t like the staff customer service. I didn’t like the fact the pool room and a bad feces odor that was very potent and very foul smelling. The guest and the children were unable to enjoy the pool. My son birthday was a hassle because of this. The staff was very unprofessional and ignorant about the situation. The room has stains on the bed, the continental breakfast had only 3 different selections. The staff were sleeping in the rooms next door to us and their family was eating in the lobby. The customer service was HORRIBLE. Front desk staff were never available. They didn’t have garbage bags for us to clean up, towels for the children to dry off nothing . My service was terrible and my son birthday was awful due to the services at this hotel.
- Reier (10/5): Exceptional - check in was smooth. Staff friendly The heating unit only dispense cold air. It said heat but warmest was 69 . That was not warm. Also had issue with door. It would not unlock. Took 2 employees to get it unlocked.
- Nevette (10/5): - I have stated here a few times when I come to Canton for work and I love it here. I haven’t even bothered to try any of the other hotels in the are. It’s clean and quiet. Great location from almost everything.
- Dennis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Miguel (10/5): - Staff is great. The facility is clean and looks great. Room was up to date.
- Keli (10/5): - First time staying there and I was pleasantly surprised and very happy with my experience.
- Charles (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rima (7/5): Good - Clean room I booked this hotel through booking.com where I paid for the room and Taxes online. Once upon arrival, they claimed they cannot take a different form of deposit for the room. They needed the original credit card that was booked under. The staff was rude and not helpful in resolving this issue, the manager was supposed to call to resolve the financial stress they have caused on my credit card, and it has been a week and no one has called me. Now I am disputing the double charge on my credit card. This has caused me me a great stress. I wouldn’t be staying here again
- Felicia (10/5): - The staff here was very friendly. Each time I needed anything they got it right away (towels, extra plates, etc.) This hotel was also clean and noise free. Not to mention the free breakfast wasn’t too bad either for a quick bite to start your day. I’d recommend this hotel for business travelers or family travelers!
- Paula (6/5): Staff requires much more customer service training immediately! - Clean Staff tried to place me and my daughter in a queen sized bed suite when I booked and paid for a king sized bed suite without inquiring with me first. Then when we informed the staff about their error, the staff was exceptionally RUDE and LOUD!
- Kenneth (8/5): the room made up for the terrible parking arrangments - the room was awesome! parking lots were full or closed for work and no arrangements were made for overflow parking. The staff on duty said "I don't know what to tell you" when we asked what other options were available with all lots full. We wound up jumping the curb and parking on the grass with our suv. It was the only option open to us at the time.
- Tracy (8/5): - I have stayed at multiple TownePlace Suites in the Detroit area. The location is the best for me. However the stock of items in the kitchen were minimal. When I asked the front desk for more glasses (we only had 2), I was offered the paper cups used for coffee. Granted this serves drink purposes, but I am in town with family and I like to offer a glass drink as I have at the other TownePlace Suites locations. There were only 2 spoons as well. There was no dish washing soap as I have had at the other TownePlace Suites locations. I really like the indoor pool.
- Keith (10/5): It was a great Hotel I will definitely stay there again. - Breakfast and Location was great.
Continental Breakfast had a great selection.
Location was in the heart of canton area. There was nothing not to like.
- Nevette (8/5): - Hotel was nice and quiet and in a great location
- Christopher (10/5): - Place was clean and had amenities available.
- Cynthia (10/5): Nice option for extended stay - Nice area, nice hotel, pleasant service!
- Lisa (8/5): - Pool hours but hot tub was cold until last day.
- ALICIA (2/5): Terrible - Most terrible hotel stay I have had in a while. Hotels near by have crime coming in and out. The hotel had no pool towels, only 2 towels to a room. You could not access the pool without the master key and key machine was down at first therefore you needed to be escorted every time you went in and out of your room. You also needed a key card for the lights in the room to work but no one was told during check in. The breakfast was also not heated up prior to 7am when breakfast was supposedly to start. They definitely are short staffed and have limited resources. The coffee bar was covered in ants and the guy at the front desk showed NO care in the world. This all was only in a two nights stay!!
- George (10/5): The staff was very helpful - Plenty of restaurants nearby. Central location. Good spot.
- Jesse (3/5): woke up to a tick on arm, avoid this hotel - good location and comfortable beds for the price i paid for the room i got, i feel extremely ripped off. my family and i stayed in a two bedroom suite for one night. when we checked in and got up to our room we immediately found pretzels on the floor. it should have been a sign but we were all so tired we just got ready for bed and went to sleep. my husband woke up in the morning to a tick crawling on his arm. after that we all just felt dirty and couldn’t shake the feeling of stuff crawling on us so we packed up and checked out. have stayed here a few times before but will undoubtedly not be returning. i suggest you avoid booking here, there’s much nicer hotels in the area that aren’t astronomically overpriced.
- Sungho (9/5): Superb -
- Brealyn (10/5): Awesome! - Frankly was amazing and really helped us with all our needs and made us feel so comfortable! Probably there friendliest and easiest check in we've ever had traveling!!
The room was clean and comfortable!
- Richard (8/5): - Nice clean room. Great beds. Spacious room. A little pricey. Tv remote didn’t work. Had to be let into pool as I’d cards didn’t work to get in ourselves. Price toooo high for room. Pool ladder step broken and cut my foot.
- Martina (10/5): Exceptional - I didn’t eat breakfast
- Alexander (9/5): Great Hotel for the money. - The stay was just for a brief overnight. The location was just what we needed. The room was comfortable and cozy, and the bed was perfect. If I had to lodge only one complaint it would be about the pillows. They were a little flat. Everything was as expected. The location is perfect, close to food and shopping. Everything was clean. And everything worked. You cannot truly ask for more than that from a hotel.
- Lori (10/5): Great staff and property - will stay again! - This property is clean and well-appointed. The amenities are complete for a real studio room - everything you need to cook and store food. The staff was very friendly and responsive. Location is perfect -centrally located in Canton and close to getting to the surrounding areas. There was nothing we didn't like!
- Michi (10/5): - The staff was wonderful!
- Traveler02092021 (10/5): Five day stay in Detrroit area. - Staff was very helpful. Hotel was quiet. The room was a bit small with little space to maneuver with two people. The desk provided pleanty of space and good lighting. Only one set of towels per person and not of high quality, needed replacing. No towels or dish soap provided for kitchen area.
- fida (8/5): - I like the location, staff is friendly, didnt like the sound of the cars all night.
- Thomas (9/5): It was very pleasurable - They charged $4 for small pops
- Ogrodnik (5/5): Passable - First impression was very bad. We came to the hotel at 5 p.m. with the children sleeping on my arms but the lady from the reception told us to wait because the key to our room disappeared (something like this), after 10 min after my husband intervened that they could open the room for us with the spare key, we managed to get into the room.
Breakfast was really poor: toasts and waffles, there was also additional disgusting scrabble eggs and muffins but it was really very bad. Together with my children we spent 15 days there so I prepared the breakfast in my room with vegetables.
For 12 hours there was no electricity.
Personnel in the reception and the lady who "prepared breakfast '' were really not pleasant. She was all the time on the mobile phones, speaking very loudly during the breakfast.
Few times I was asking to clean my room, after my fourth request, somebody came, but I was vacuuming by myself.
Laundry issue - they were giving back to us partially, we were waiting for my husband's clothes for 4 days.
Maybe for one night, somebody doesn't care about quality, but IF You are looking for a hotel for more than several days, for sure i don't recommend this hotel. Localization.
- Mohamed (2/5): Awful and disappointing spend your money somewhere else. - NOTHING As soon as I walked into the room, I was hit by this awful smell that made me want to bolt. And you wouldn't believe what I saw on the pullout couch – a nasty brown stain that looked like it could be straight out of a horror movie. I mean, seriously, who doesn't clean their furniture properly?!
To make matters worse, the bathroom was no better. There was a used towel left hanging there, like the cleaning staff couldn't be bothered to do their job.
I'm so bummed out. I thought I'd get a great experience based on those reviews, but it was just a big letdown. My advice: don't waste your money on this dump. There are definitely better places out there that actually care about being clean and comfy for their guests. Keep searching, folks!
- Paris (2/5): - I am writing to express my deepest disappointment regarding a recent experience I had at TownePlace Suites by Marriott Detroit Canton.
I had made a reservation for a room at the TownePlace Suites by Marriott Detroit Canton for July 26 - July 27 due to losing power in my home as a result of a thunderstorm. I was eagerly looking forward to my stay as advertised upon booking with my 3 young children. Unfortunately, upon arriving at the hotel, I was informed that there was a power outage on the property defeating the purpose of my initial booking resulting in the inability to check into my room. This was extremely frustrating, as I had made the reservation in advance and had not been notified about any potential disruptions.
What compounded the situation further was the treatment I received from a staff member named Joseph. Despite my valid concerns and frustrations, Joseph was dismissive and refused to provide me with his last name when asked as well as provided me with the incorrect contact information of the General Manager. He provided me with the business card from an entirely different hotel. This lack of professionalism, lack of integrity and transparency only served to heighten my dissatisfaction with the situation.
Adding to the inconvenience, the location of the hotel required me to drive over 40 minutes in adverse driving conditions. Never again.
- Jill (4/5): Doesn’t deserve the 8 rating. - Close to the airport. Booked this hotel because they had cribs. Booked a two bedroom suite through a third party, for four adults and a toddler. Got to the hotel and no cribs could be found. Took 45 minutes to get switched to two king rooms so the toddler could sleep between her parents because the manager kept calling and talking to the check in person. The carpet is coming up in the doorway of the bathroom and I stepped on the carpet tack. Fake press on mail in bathtub. Closet had falling down shelves sitting on the floor. . I was one of the first down to breakfast in the morning. There were chicken wing bones in the elevator. Food was already cold and gross, bagels were stale, and with very few options. I chose this hotel because of the crib, and because it had higher ratings then many others. Not sure why or how they rate more than a 6.

- Teressa (8/5): Very good - How friendly the staff was and how clean the room and facility was overall. The room right next to the ice maker and the pool area was out of order.
- Nelson (9/5): Superb -

- Verified traveler (4/5): Dirty and rundown - For being a fairly new hotel the room was dirty and the sheets were worn and thin. Some members of guest services were rude and barely spoke English. They charged us for high speed internet when we only signed in for free internet. Didn’t clean room our or even exchange towels during our 3 nights stay. I don’t recommend this hotel.
- Ruthann (10/5): - Front desk staff was friendly and lovely and went above and beyond to make sure we had a quiet room
- Lisamarie1138 (8/5): Nice place for long stay, enjoyed the hot tub - We usually stay in a Courtyard in Livonia when we travel to Michigan, but this year we were informed their pool/hot tub would be out of service during our trip over Christmas.
So, after lots of searching for another Marriott property in the area (since I have a rewards membership) we found this one. I was a little sad that due to the short notice we couldn't get a suite room (we have two kids so it's nice to have the separation) but we were upgraded when we checked in. The suite was nice, although a tad cramped (doors can't be opened all the way, etc). The kitchen was decently equipped, there was a nice dining/living area, two separate (if a bit small) bedrooms and a full bathroom. We stayed there for a full week and it was comfortable.
We also made heavy use of the pool and hot tub, which were very enjoyable.
In the lobby there is a bit of a convenience store area, and stocked coffee/tea/hot cocoa. Other than that, there are plenty of restaurants around for food.
There were a few little things that might have been the result of Covid in terms of the cleanliness in some of the common areas, as well as no housekeeping until we actually asked for it which was a bit annoying. There was also only one working remote for 3 TVs.
When we checked in there were some issues with their billing/credit card system, and then the sutie we were given was occupied despite their system saying nobody was in the room. Thankfully this was all fairly easily resolved by the staff.
- Lynn (10/5): - I want to recognize Franci? We wanted to cancel one night and have a late check out for the first night, as we wanted to get back on the road. He was very accommodating in working things out, as we had booked with Expedia. He called his Manager at home to ensure all was ok to allow this. Thank you
- Diana (8/5): - Bathroom was off... it was like someone has just used the toilet when we arrived. There are streaks of urine in the toilet bowl. Saw some dirt on the walls of the bathroom, it was like accumulated dust hanging, lacking of towels supplies and bath supplies. We got one of their biggest suite 2bedrooms , 5 of us are staying, but the supplies are very poor. YES WE CAN REQUEST , we have to walk to the front desk and asked. Still , isnt it hasstle to our part ? They have good guest relations, BUT rooms are very poor when it comes to cleanliness and supplies
- Shirley (10/5): - Other than finding the hotel which is tucked back behind other hotels everything was great.
- claudettes853 (10/5): Excellent for long term stay - Excellent staff and easy accommodation for long term stay. Location great, quiet even though near freeway. Highly recommend.
Room had all kitchen amenities and convenient workplace. Smart tv for streaming.
- Heidi (8/5): Quick stay - All very good - Advertise free shuttle from the airport but no longer offered - had to use Uber
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Franklin and Tony at the front desk were very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed the patio out front and the room was perfect for 2 people for a few days. Bathroom was a little small. We would stay again!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The front desk didn’t know anything about the hotel. Told us our room was on the opposite side so we had to walk with all our luggage. Breakfast was disappointed. Our room wasn’t clean
