- Yong (10/5): - Very nice room and convenient.
- Daiyi (10/5): - Well maintained property with high quality facilities. My family did enjoy the serenity and beauty of the surrounding and the convenience of walking distance to Gion and many places of interest.
- Sally (10/5): - Beautiful property.
Really enjoyed the use of the hot tub.
Very comfortable bed and relaxing bedroom overlooking the garden.
Thank you 🙏
- Jamie (10/5): - Really great space and location
- Mike (7/5): Lovely house but facilities could be better - A lovely wooden house close to the subway station. A genuine Japanese experience. Lovely big bath with doorway to the garden. Great lounge area with views over alley to neighbouring gardens. 25 minute walk to main nighttime area with dozens of bars and restaurants. 10-20 minute walk from many shrubs and temples. The wardrobe in the upstairs bedroom is locked. Staff responded promptly to our email querying this and suggested sharing the downstairs wardrobe, which would be inconvenient and incase our fellow guests privacy. So we had our stuff spilling out of our bags onto the floor which rather spoilt the sparse Japanese atmosphere!
There's a kitchen with a cooker but no saucepans and no cooking equipment, so not really usable. Luckily there are many excellent restaurants in Kyoto!
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kelly (10/5): - What a great immersive experience to have a little house for our stay in Kyoto, so close to many temples and other areas of interest. The house was cozy and warm in the cold weeks of winter and the large bath and zen garden were a nice touch.
- Wilson (10/5): - Good place to stay, though a little overpriced. Need a light outside the door as it was dark during winter and hard to find location if arriving after 5pm during winter. Apart from this, super and nice ambience at the property. Timely response to email replies.
- Leo (9/5): Superb -
- Kirstie (10/5): - Had a lovely stay, really enjoyed the whole experience! Highly recommend.
- Kyle (10/5): - Fantastic ryokan, we had a slight issue doing virtual check in but staff was immediate and provided prompt assistance. The ryokan was beautiful, the was amazing. Breakfast was delivered in the morning and was nice. Would stay again.
- Butler (9/5): Great for a family to feel like you really are experiencing an authentic stay in Japan. - Excellent location just a couple of stops outside of the main tourist centre of Kyoto. Very nice quiet neighbourhood with a nice wine bar down the road and an easy coin laundry a few minutes walk away. A really great property to have that authentic Japanese feel and of course the hot tub is a very welcome addition after a long day exploring the shrines and markets. Perfect for a family. The Japanese breakfast was so expertly presented each morning and extremely well done but unfortunately did not quite fit with my Western palete first thing in the morning. This is totally on me though and my presonal preference. If you like authentic Japanese then I recommend the breakfast but if you prefer cereal or eggs and bacon then there is a local convenience store 2 minutes walk away or other bakeries in the area.
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Dauchy (9/5): Superb - The location is great, near all in Kyoto, we could walk to Gion, take the subways and train to visit this amazing town really easily. The atmosphere of the house is so peaceful and beautiful. The kitchen is not well equipped, only a microwave. But there are a lot of restaurants around so it was not really an issue for us.
- Valeriia (9/5): Superb - It’s really nice Japanese style house Overpriced
- Edwin (10/5): Awesome - It was extremely convenient!
Short walking distance to the train stations and some nice restaurants.
- Bree (8/5): Very good - The breakfast was exceptional. So much care and so delicious. The property was lovely, very traditional but comfortable. The onset was wonderful The shower water wasn’t very hot though the Ibsen was lovely and warm.
- Jeremy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jieping (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matthew (8/5): Nice amenities, but it would have been worth the price if cleaning were better - The property is beautiful. It’s most attractive characteristic is the open air bath. The couch in the living room needs to be cleaned more often, since it had a smell. For the price (JPY 100,000 for 3 people), we expected better cleanliness.
I felt like it was too expensive versus the other Nazuna properties, if one were to compare internal amenities.
- Quynh (10/5): It is definitely worth it and highly recommended to try. - The house is very cute and cozy with all the amenities and conveniently located in the center for easy transportation. The staff is extremely quick to respond and very helpful. It is highly recommended to try when visiting Kyoto. The water faucet in the sink takes quite a while to switch from cold water to hot water.
- Cathryn (10/5): - Staying at Kiraku is a truly memorable experience. This is our favourite location in Kyoto and is surrounded by beauty. The house is impressive and immaculate. A truly special stay.
- Enkhzul (8/5): Very good - Really spacious and beautiful house Could not make the record player working. To early checkout and too late checkin times.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Rossene (9/5): Superb -
- Marc (9/5): Superb -
- Susana (8/5): It was okay but not great - I liked the space It was pretty run down, walls were in bad condition, carpet was dirty, windows couldn’t be opened upstairs making it stuffy, récord player was not working, no washer-drier, no stove or cooking utensils and no change to order breakfast or any meals… it wasn’t a good deal overall, staying at a hotel or ryokan would have been better and cheaper
- Lundeen-goldschlag (9/5): Superb - this was super comfortable house and loved the open door onsen. fairly good location to cool spots in kyoto. a bit far from the nature part of kyoto
- Taylor (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pedro (10/5): Very pricey but it delivers. It is the perfect place for a weekend away in Kyoto. - Beautiful house.
Great location.
Very spacious.
Classic vibe yet very modern.
Bath was massive and filled up very fast.
WIFI was great.
Fully equipped with everything you may need.
You cannot cook but they provide you with a big list of online and nearby restaurants.
No need to fiddle with keys as all you need is the keypad code. Only thing I can think of is the lack of a bathroom upstairs by the master bedroom.
- Ahsan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tom (9/5): Overall, I really loved it and would definitely stay again. - Very comfortable. Gives you that feeling of a traditional Japanese house. Staff was attentive and friendly whenever you needed help. Open air bath took a little getting use to but it was very pleasant. Saw some spiders in the bedroom area. Although it didn’t bother me, it can be concerning to others.
- Rune (10/5): Beautiful traditional house - Great location close to «everything».
Beautiful house with garden view.
Nice hot tub.
Great traditional breakfast option.
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ryan (9/5): A very good and enjoyable stay overall - nice traditional house with a huge and enjoyable bathtub No on-site staff
- Ghadah (7/5): not bad but not the best at all - The Japanese traditional vibes Only two real beds, towels for two only although we were four. check out was toooooo early the cleaning staff entered at 10 AM sharp althougthe check in is at 3 pm. dirty stains on the sheets of the futon beds.
- Hajime (10/5): - Clean safe
Little far from shopping and restaurants
- 慶琪 (9/5): Superb - 1. Asked questions through this app, staff always replied really fast and polite.
2. Have a little living room and kitchen with microwave and refrigerator, really nice and relaxing.
3. Whole house really beautiful, and 2nd floor even got a phonograph recorder with the instructions of how to use it. Really cool.
4. Got welcome drinks in the refrigerator, really nice. Bath tub take a long time to fill up.
- Christine (10/5): traditional house in a convenient area of Kyoto walking distance from several metro stations. To our surprise we had a f - This little house was a gem - full house for the four of us which was a pleasant surprise! Spacious for Japan with all basics you need - onsen, tea kettle, refrigerator . special attention to toilet products as well! No complaints
- Niquita (10/5): - The property itself is absolutely beautiful. The small garden that you could see from the tatami room was gorgeous and everything within the home was clean and lovely, great quality.
The area around the property was calm when we went. It has a lovely feel and there are some nice restaurants and shops within walking distance.
Besides that, the ones managing the property were very helpful and kind. There were a few matters where I didn't know how to do something and messaged them and got a reply in a very reasonable time. Very good customer service.
- Miki (9/5): Superb - close from the station It wasn't pajamas
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great stay! - Great "hotel". It is a full building separate from the main hotel elsewhere in the city. As such, there is no reception area. Having to call to be let in the first time was the only drawback form an otherwise amazing stay. Having a private house, complete with a soaking bath tub is great. There was little to no foot traffic and as such no noises at night. HIGHLY recommend getting breakfast included. It's vegetarian, but delicious! Housekeeping shows up every other day, depending on length of your stay. Can call the main reception area to ask them to help book reservations for restaurants.
- Stephan (10/5): Home away from home - great Kyoto experience in a very typical house that is more a kind of a perfectly decorated private home than a hotel room
- Brian (10/5): Loved it! - Amazing stay! We loved everything about Nazuna Kyoto. The location was just a few minutes from the subway, in a quiet part of Higashiyama. Super clean, quiet, modern, yet traditional Ryokan style two story townhouse with tatami mats and a beautiful garden. Roomy and charming! Fabulous bathroom and tub! Luxurious toiletries, the softest pajamas, and the beds were so comfortable. We didn't use the kitchen much, but it was well equipped and clean. We specially loved the quirky and charming vintage record player with vinyls for our enjoyment. With a cup of matcha prepared for us upon arrival, we felt so welcomed. Would definitely stay again if ever in Kyoto.
