Guest Reviews
- Saffia (8/5): - The property is above/next to a pub. The pub in itself is a great atmosphere and everyone there is friendly and welcoming and they have a sister property at the Shepherds rest which I have stayed at previously. The rooms at the Bull on the Bridge are decorated really stylishly and they have blackout curtains. I got put into a room and one thing I noticed was the available plug socket was mid wall without a shelf, originally placed so In reach of the TV, I managed to balance my chargers. I also couldn't seem to make the hot water work in the shower, I messaged the accomodation account and later in the day Jamie kindly moved me to a different room quickly without fuss. The new room was 10/10, very spacious, and cosy with a fireplace and I managed to get a good night's sleep and a hot shower. the place overall Very accomodating and a great place to stay.
- Mr J A (10/5): - Excellent for the price I paid. Rooms have recently been renovated and it showed. The only niggles were that the extractor fan in the bathroom was very noisy and probably needs replacing (room 10) and there was no hot water: I tried to have a shower but couldn't: No matter how long you ran the tap for or in which position the water never got warm.
Would definitely stay there again. Big thank you to Jamie who so very kindly let me check in early.
- Ladda (6/5): - Need big for rubbish bin
- Tracey (2/5): Absolutely the worst experience - It was the worse’s experience I have ever had. Very loud, Karaoke u could hear in your room. A drunken customer smashed the fire alarm, going off 1am in the morning. My granddaughter was staying with me who was very distressed!. After that People drunk then outside very loud to the point i told the to be quiet then go get abuse. Windows not safe as they were old sash so dangerous and could hear even the busy road even when they were closed. Contacted the management who would not answer my call or move us to another room. Got a txt message to say he had told them to move. The room was disgusting bathroom so small you couldn’t get dryed without opening the sliding door. The room was unsafe Peice of wood put under side table to stop from falling which had a kettle on for tea and coffee!! No tv but a bracket on the wall which I banged my head. I could go on. It should be shut down I am absolutely devastated and spoiled my break away. Do not book!!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient location - Pleasant stay in a beautiful old building. The bed felt like it was missing a mattress but otherwise all very clean and comfortable.
- MARCO (4/5): - Camera sporchissima e bagno sporco. Ho chiesto di pulire tutta la polvere . Hanno tolto solo quella evidente ovvero le piume di piccione.
- Gareths (8/5): - Really nice place, but the double bed was shocking. No support in the mattress soft and spring sticking in to your body. It was a shame the bed was so poor and let the experience down.
- Bernie (2/5): Pack your sense of humour! - I didn’t stay here although I had booked and no one notified me that the hotel was actually closed! I booked it as it appeared on the website to be close to the station, so I walked with my bag and suitcase from the station… I sat in the derelict beer garden on the pavement side of the hotel. I phoned the number on the web, to be told by a polite young lady that her colleague would call me. He did call to say I had been “upgraded” to the sister hotel due to flooding in some rooms. He tried to explain how to get to the “sister” hotel… which was the shepherds rest. He ordered a taxi, the taxi driver certainly could not speak or understand English 😳.. I told him the hotel would pay, but he insisted that I paid, and wouldn’t accept Scottish currency despite the fact that it is legal tender in the UK. The Shepherds rest only deserves a mention because Jamie tries his very best! If I ran a business I would employ someone like him!
He did give me a complimentary drink, considering I paid for the taxi. I asked if I could have supper there.. he asked if I had brought food as they have no restaurant!! I certainly did not have the energy to walk into the Center of town at Sowerby Bridge… so I gave supper a miss. The smart TV was good… I couldn’t close the velux style window and hoped it wouldn’t rain on the newly refurbished “upgraded” room. If I didn’t have a sense of humour I would be furious… cest La vie!!! Highly recommend Jamie… niether hotel though, sadly…
- robin (4/5): beware - the bed was rock hard , the access to the room which wasn't very clean and had cardboard blocking off the open fire place ,was up two narrow flights of stairs . You could hear all the road noise through the single pane windows. parking was on the street behind the hotel ,on a fist come first serve basis . when i first looked at the hotel im sure it was £ 83 . but when i went through all the confirming stages, paid and then got a reciept it was £100. I wont be using Hotels. com again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Robert (10/5): - Craig the host was very friendly and arranged taxi transport to & from Piece Hall to his new hotel as The Bull on the Bridge was overbooked. Excellent customer service & both hotels were v nice!
- Gary (10/5): Fantastic value for money - Great hosts and a warm welcome. Fantastic communication throughout and we will definitely book again for our next event at Piece Hall
- karen (6/5): - Really basic room. The shower is in the corner of the room and it's shared toilet. No wardrobe. Just a few kitchen cupboards.
Location is excellent and the staff are lovely.
