Town centre was about a 5 minute walk away Requested rooms together but we were on different floors. Requested a cot in one of the rooms and this had to be organised after Check In. There was no hot water for an evening shower. I found out the next day that there had been a problem and the heating engineer had been called out that night. This information had not not passed on to the guests the previous day even though the hotel was aware of the problem. Apparently it's ongoing due to the age of the building.

Fabulous room, very clean and lots of space. Great pool and facilities. Outstanding customer service- really accommodating. We return every year- my children love this hotel! The boiler was down- it couldn't be helped, and the staff were very apologetic; however, the cold showers were not fun.

The bed was comfortable Room was spacious Improvement to facilities in the swimming pool are definitely needed. Dropped something on the bedroom floor and noticed under the bed could be cleaned a bit better.
- Ziggyrosa (10/5): Excellent - Always a joy to stay at The Palace as the staff are exceptional. Most of them being there for many years so its lovely to see the same faces. It is a lovely old elegant hotel with a lot of charm. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the beds are lovely to sleep in. Big white towels, tea and coffee making facilities and lovely en suite bathroom. The meals in the restaurant are delicious and hot in the evenings and breakfast is plentiful with a very good choice of fare. I think some of the appliances in the rooms are getting a little old. The tv in room 31 was so glitchy it was impossible to watch, although I'm sure not everyone does watch tv when away. Also the windows were impossible to open or close. But having said that, these are minor issues that are easily rectified.

Das Andere ging direkt zur Feuerleiter, das macht man nicht auf. Laut und Licht die ganze Nacht. Also das Zimmer würde ich niemals wieder nehmen... Es war für eine Nacht-aber wir haben uns nicht wohlgefühlt.

Drinks very expensive, watered down orange juice in morning more like orange squash. Scrambled egg looked and tasted like pre-made, only one toaster for all you had to queue! Run down does need updating! Badly chipped sink!

- Net (10/5): - Every think was amazing the grounds of the hotel the hotel itself having a lift was a bonus for my partner. Staff were very polite and hard working 10 star service. Felt the menu was a bit small for choice but what I had was very nice and simple ☺️ The sauna was broke and the changing rooms need updating but the ladies in there were very lovely and helpful the masarge was amazing.

- ANITABEN G (9/5): Nice hotel, close to Paignton pier - Nice big room got upgraded to see view room, nice restaurant staff Check out at 10am is bit early, should be 11am, Sunday breakfast could be extended too Swimming, steam and sauna could be open until a little later until 9pm would be nice. Last dinners served 7.45pm that’s really early! Claire is a little hard with her time of voice she could be a little kind and gentle Breakfast coffee is really bad, yogurt selection is limited, hash browns were really cooked in bad oil

Short walk to shops and bars Pool area was warm and clean, very quiet for a chilled swim. Our toilet stopped flushing so we had to use the one downstairs. The shower was boiling hot and not usable. Breakfast was decent, although came in a busy weekend so the dining hall was very busy, coffee wasn’t great either. The health suit is only available free to guests who are full board, we were bed and breakfast so had to pay £10 per room to use the facilities, which were great, the pool/whirlpool was warm and clean.

Room was big, good sized sleeping facilities. Beds were comfortable. Shower was powerful and warm. Staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. Complementary tea / coffee on arrival day. Grounds looked clean and tidy. Room view was amazing!!! Room was stuffy upon arrival. It appears that food was left in the outside dining dome overnight and was there present in the morning and has not been cleaned up. Could have done with more tea/coffee in bedroom, only 4 creamers in room was only enough for 1 cup of tea / coffee but plenty of tea bags/coffee were left over.

- Michelle (5/5): Location is best part of stay! - Location was excellent for what we wanted- close to seafront and easy access to most places. Unfortunately the room was dirty when we arrived, most particularly the toilets had skid marks and poo splatters it was terrible!. Additionally we stayed for 4 night and 2 out of the 4 nights there were issues on night one some guests were drunk, cursing and fighting- it felt unsafe and like they would be coming through our door- this lasted for what felt like hours... and on 2nd night there were a fair few children running up and down the corridor and parents seemingly unbothered as they were very loud as well- this was around 11:40-12 pm - this went on for at least 1 hour and half. I can appreciate that you have no control over guests but it was uncomfortable
- hannahm1232026 (4/5): Musty rooms, overpriced pool, inadequate breakfast - Changed rooms as first stank. It was musty, had not been cleaned properly. Very dusty. Second room was slightly better although tv connection was poor.breakfast was poor. Coffee lukewarm. Ordered poached eggs, avocado on toast. Bread was cheap, quality and quantity both poor. Advised that pool was family friendly. Height was 1.2m. Daughter couldn't touch the floor. Charged additional £10 to use the pool. Overall, poor stay. Location good but hotel in need of an upgrade

- Sweething69 (6/5): Very disappointed with our stay - We came here for a weekend getaway . The hotel is in a lovely position on Paignton seafront. The hotel seems like it’s trying hard to have the grandeur of yesteryear but sadly looking a bit run down. The room was small with old fashioned furniture ( especially an ancient hairdryer) definitely could do with being remodelled. Some of the problems we found , We couldn’t get the window to stay open. The bathroom tap moved around a lot and something very sticky on the headboard ! Everything seemed a bit grubby. We went to the pool, spa and steam room again felt like it all needed a good clean . Also very very small . We didn’t use the gym so can’t comment . The breakfast Sunday morning was horrible. So busy we had to wait for a table then pre bought pancakes with cheap hard bacon . Even the coffee was bitter . Mondays breakfast was slightly better with a lovely gentleman serving us .
- probson183 (2/5): Stay at the Grand Hotel. - Would not recommend as under staffed, after complaining as there was no heating or hot water was told yeah there is a problem with the pump (no apology) uncomfortable bed and the extractor fan in the bathroom sounded like a generator. When I said I was going to complain just got a ok.

- Island_girl (8/5): Traditional grand hotel - Large comfortable bed in a lovely large room. Breakfast staff were very friendly. No staff at the bar to serve drinks. After waiting 10 minutes we left for a local bar.

- robertmJ2534NM (8/5): Excellent staff - We have visited the palice hotel from time to time over the last thirty years and although we have seen many changes with the area we were pleased to find that the hotel has still nineteen its focus on service unfortunately my wife was taken ell during our visit and the manager and some waiting staff had to come to our rescue i just can't praise and thank them enough for their help and kindness I would recommend the palice to anyone excellent staff thank you

I do not recommend this Spa to anybody . Members of the spa were complaining I. Front of us there was to many people today . Food was like a child party plate Sandwich cut up for a child to eat Water given at table was from the table Waiting staff didn’t listen to us We booked for brown bread got white Glasses not clean Need a good make over of spa and staff Would not recommend it to anyone else

- rt259 (10/5): Friendly and relaxing stay - Warm comfy quiet room with a great grounds and sea view. Comfy bed, bathroom with bath and plenty of hot water. Reception staff really friendly and helpful. Great restaurant staff and bar staff. Inclusive 3 course dinners were very good, served and cleared quickly. Very good breakfast, continental was buffet, hot was ordered via waiting staff and arrived quickly. Bar prices very sensible. We had a great 2 night stay and hopefully will return soon. Thanks
- Amanda (7/5): Very good value for money on the whole though the room was rather small - Wonderful building and position, helpful and welcoming staff, great parking and a handsome foyer. The one evening meal we had was excellent, though lacking in a choice of wines. We could not turn on the heated rail in our bathroom and so the room was cold and although the bed was comfortable there was very little room to squeeze round it.

- jimN263EL (2/5): Failing on the basics - I booked on the day and stayed in room 9. Check-in was friendly and the same member of staff served me with personality at the bar. This is the only positive that I can come up with unfortunately. The chairs in the bar are worn and stained. Room 9 is small with a very uncomfortable cheap-feeling bed with noisy springs that gave me backache the next day. I was woken by noisy floorboards above me and outside the door. The shower-curtain kept sticking to me, which was a horrible experience. The room and bathroom are dated. When I arrived for breakfast a disinterested young lady told me I could sit wherever I wanted to. I was not shown to a table. I chose a large table set for four by the window to get natural light and settled down with a coffee. I was approached by Josh who did not greet me but asked if I was dining alone. He then told me that he would need my table for families and moved me to a table for two in the middle of the room. There were six of these larger tables and no others were in use. By the end of my breakfast two had been taken. Perhaps they would all have been needed, but the issue is in the manner of the approach. At no point was I greeted with a basic 'good morning' or in any way treated as a valued paying guest. It is either a lack of training in hospitality or poor recruitment. This is not a hotel that I would return to or recommend.
- Pauline (8/5): First time stay. - Lifts were good. The staff were friendly. The view was great. The bar was well stocked with plenty of choice. The bed was comfortable. The fire in the lounge was nice. Luke warm shower. Not hot enough. Tap water was very hot but not the shower. The full English breakfast was below average. The bedroom was very dusty.

- Paw (3/5): Unsuited for business travel - Staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating. The bathtub was too small for an average-sized adult male, and the food was bland and not very good. The showers for the gym and pool were terrible and the pool and shower facilities in general were not very nice and the deteriorated facilities made it look dirty. The restaurant had a very short opening time and was not well-suited for business travel with the earliest breakfast time at 8am.
- Hirst (10/5): Lovely hotel - Loved the hotel. Room was great. Loved having a bath, good sized TV and comfy bed. I was surprised to be provided with a kettle but no tea bags or coffee. I also brought my swim suit but didn't realise I should pay extra for wellness centre. No tea bags or milk provided in the room. Additional cost for wellness centre
