Guest Reviews
- Ryan (10/5): - My wife and I just returned from a trip to Bali for our 25th anniversary. This was our second hotel out of 3 which we stayed at during our week there as we traveled around the island. We both had a wonderful experience here and would highly recommend this homestay to any others coming to Bali. In retrospect thinking about the 3 locations (Ubud, east side, and southern peninsula) this location was our favorite. The peaceful quite setting looking out over the rice fields, the friendly owners, and the wonderful food, not to mention the nearby water temples, were all amazing. If we get to come back to Bali, this is where we would spend our time rather than all the bouncing around wanting the experience it all in a week. Be sure if you go here to take up the offer for the key to open the gate and wander down to the creek below. A small temple is there among the banana trees, and if you stroll down the path along the creek you will come out along a gorgeous scene and right into the community where you will find the big water temple. You won't be disappointed!
Just a side note about the food - they have a very nice terrace dining area and prepare food to order from a nice menu assortment. We tried as much variety as we could from their restaurant in the time there and everything was perfect. If you stay elsewhere, you are still able to wander on over to eat here as it isn't just for homestay guests. Sit a spell and have a great conversation with the owners as well while there!
- Verified traveler (8/5): very atmospheric - --clean, basic room
--amazing view overlooking the terraces, very relaxing vibe
--in general, helpful/pleasant interactions with the staff
--the staff will cook up basic meals from a menu
- Tim (10/5): - This is an amiable, small, simple, low-key place to stay. What makes it different are the peacefulness, beautiful views and helpful staff. It's a 5 minute walk from the road, up a hill, so it's remote from any external hassle. Your outside garden look down over a valley of terraced rice fields and distant forests. The beautiful water garden is only 10 mins away down a steep hillside track. It's a bit spartan; the rooms have plenty of space inside, and a fan, but not much else. Mine normally had cold showers, but in Bali that's not such an issue. The food too is basic, but sometimes could be surprisingly tasty. And the people are nice, and they're always there for you. It won't suit everybody, but if you just want to relax and read and go walking, it's a great place.
- Katie (6/5): Rocky start but lovely views - When we arrived at Pondok Batur Indah we were told that they had not received payment from us, despite us having multiple pieces of evidence that we had paid. Instead of sorting this problem out themselves, I had to spend an hour getting hold of hotels.com for them to ring the guesthouse to say we had paid. During this time they offered us tea, which we were then billed for. Not a good start.
Despite the rocky start, the views from the rooms are lovely- looking over rice terraces, it is a 10 minute walk to Tirta Gangga, and they can arrange a driver to other places of interest for a charge. Restaurant on site and free breakfast.
- Victor (10/5): Stunning view of volcano and rice terrace - This is a nice, little, family-run home stay. The room was very nice and very clean. This is where we had our best night of sleep in a long time. The view you wake up to is to die for!
The food is good and homemade (probably the best Balinese food we've had on Bali) and you can enjoy it with the view over the rice field and the mountain.
It's very close to Tirta Gangga, where you'll also be able to rent scooters or book a tour for going to Lempuyang. However, you need to be fit as the trail has a steep descent. It is not handicap-friendly.
