• Russ (2/5): - Room is severely outdated. None that i was shown match the pictures online. To get an upgrade to a decent clean-ish room, was told i would have an extra 900 baht a night. Mattress is rock solid and covered in plastic, making it incredibly uncomfortable. Also was chasing and catching cockroaches each night, handing them to staff to be told ‘i will get you a new glass’. This was all done by google translate as no staff spoke a word of English It was my second time in Kamala, and highly doubt i will be returning
• Ms Dawn S (8/5): Fabulous location- Brilliant view. - Clean and comfortable stay. Peaceful nights in a quiet area on the beachfront. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby and a couple of 7/11 shops. All in all a fabulous stay.

• Ingeborg (2/5): Disappointing Stay at a So-Called "Resort" - We booked a 9-night stay at this property after seeing attractive photos on Hotels.com and a reasonable price. Unfortunately, the reality was far from what was advertised. Upon arrival, we checked into our room on the 4th floor, only to discover there was no elevator. This was an unpleasant surprise, especially as we had luggage to carry up. We had specifically booked a room with a balcony, but the "view" turned out to be a solid concrete wall. The room itself was dirty—there was sand in the bed, and the shower didn’t work. When we complained, the staff simply brushed the sand off the bed and wiped the showerhead with their hand. No further action was taken to address these issues. The property claims to be a "resort," but it doesn’t come close to meeting the standards one would expect. Daily cleaning was non-existent; the floor was occasionally swept, but no proper cleaning was done. Basic amenities like instant coffee were not replenished, and we had to repeatedly ask for clean towels. To be honest, calling this place a "resort" or even a "hotel" is misleading. It’s more akin to a poorly maintained hostel. It’s unwelcoming, dirty, and offers substandard facilities and service. I would strongly advise against staying here. Save yourself the disappointment and look elsewhere for accommodations that live up to their descriptions.
• Gemma (4/5): Mixed bag - Room / 'balcony' was not as photos showed on booking. Our room was ground floor, which meant great access out onto the beachfront along the corridor, but our 'balcony' was a patio into the alleyway. The room overall was clean, but had a strong (unpleasant) stale smell which hung around for two days despite trying to ventilate. Room decor was outdated and tired, but the bed was very large and comfortable. Would have been nice to have a thicker bed cover available (only a sheet on the bed), as the aircon was either very cold or blew out warm stale smelling air. On the third day, we came back to find a cockroach in our room, which wasn't nice, but the staff were very good at dealing with quickly. There were beach towels available from reception for guests to use, towels were threadbare (beach and bathroom) and some shed clumps of black pubic hairs when using. The location was amazing, right out onto the beach and the Beach Fusion cafe does exceptional food and drink (breakfast, lunch and dinner - paid separately). Overall we would not stay again because of the hygiene problems, but the location was what saved it for us whilst we were there.

Impossible de dormir avec la climatisation car beaucoup beaucoup trop bruyante !! Selon la chambre que l’on vous attribue vous avez un mur à un mètre de votre balcon !!!

• Herbert (6/5): Gute Lage mit hörbarem Nachtleben - Das Hotel liegt angenehm nahe am Strand, allerdings sind auch Nacht-Bars in der Nähe, welche bis lange in die Nacht laute Musik ertönen lassen. Tagsüber hatte ich eine Baustelle im Hotel und es hämmerte und bohrte durchgehend. Vielleicht nur Pech, aber an sich störend, wenn man nicht mal tagsüber seine Ruhe findet. Im goßen und ganzen jedoch empfehlenswert, wenn man mit Lärm ein bisschen umgehen kann ...
• Caren (4/5): - The Benjamin “resort” is a hostel. Please only book this if you are looking for the most basic accommodation. It is in an extreme state of disrepair, however the staff keep the rooms as clean as they can & it is not dirty. The staff are very friendly. The location is right on Kamala beach. There are great restaurants at the back and front of the hotel. It is the best location. However as stated above it is budget accommodation and expect to see cockroaches. You may ask why I ended up there. Well we booked an apartment’s on the Expedia app 1 year ago. It was transferred over to their sister company VRBO. The host did not turn up so we had to hurriedly find accommodation because Expedia left us stranded in Thailand. We had no where to go. We original booked 4* accommodation and we had to book quickly or else we would have been on the street. We didn’t read the reviews and we ended up at Benjamin. Every day people came in screaming at staff and demanding a refund. YOU WILL NOT BE GIVEN A REFUND. This is not the hotels fault. This is Expedias fault. Expedia can see the terrrible feedback on Benjamin but still keep the hotel on their site. They can easily remove but they rather keep it and gain profit from commission. Expedia has become a very unscrupulous company. I have used for over 20 years. After this trip I will never use Expedia again.
• Caren (4/5): - Do not book this property. It is infested with cockroaches and you will not get a refund. Expedia is to blame because they see the bad reviews but still keep this accommodation on their website. It’s not a hotel and it most definitely is not a hotel. It’s rooms on the beach that are in a very bad state of disrepair. Kamala beach is beautiful and the accommodation is in the best area of Kamala beach. But probably the worst accommodation in Thailand. Staff we absolutely lovely and helpful. This is a very honest review.

• John (8/5): - They are in the process of upgrading rooms so our room did not have a wardrobe or safe. While we were there they installed a shelf in the bathroom. We were on the forth floor and had a balcony/patio with a nice view of the beach. We would stay there again.

This was very disappointing as it was my first time in Thailand and I wanted to wake up to a sea view. The room, bed, bathroom etc was all looking different from the pictures advertised. I want a full refund please.

• Susanne (10/5): Budgethotell med perfekt läge och skön säng 😊 - Benjamin Resort är ett i mina ögon budgethotell, men rummen är rena och det ligger så fantastiskt bra till alldeles vid Kamala Beach. Rummen är lite slitna och handfatet lagat med 10 tuber plasticpadding, men det funkar 😂 Vi hade special balkong Room och tyvärr var det fullbokat efter våra 3 nätter, så vi var tvungna att flytta till annat hotell. Men vi har bokat igen om 3 dagar och kommer förmodligen stanna 5 veckor.

• Susanne (6/5): Slitet med bra läge till stranden - Ganska slitet men AC funkade. Låg nära stranden och de bjöd på väldigt enkel frukost trots att det inte ingick (20-års jubileum). Balkong men med Utsikt på bakgård och AC-utedelen på balkongen. Man får vad man betalar för så helt ok men slitet.

• Will (2/5): FRAUD ALERT - This hotel is completely fraudulent. I am not sure how it is even still on Hotels.com. What you book is very likely not what you will receive. The two rooms that they show in their listing are actual rooms that are in the hotel, however it is unlikely you will be staying in them. Most of the rooms are nowhere near what you are on the site. Think you're getting a nice ocean view? Wrong, you get a view of the side of a building. Think you're getting a double bed to sleep in? Wrong, you're getting 2 twin beds pushed together. Think you're getting a non smoking room? Wrong, you're getting a room that smells like smoke and has a dirty ash tray. Think you're getting a refrigerator? You do, but it's unplugged and probably far away from an outlet. Think you're getting a cabinet for your clothes? Wrong, you're getting a cheap wire shelf . Think you're getting adequate blankets? Wrong. Think you're getting a safe? Wrong. Think you're getting a headboard? Wrong. Think you're getting daily complimentary water? Wrong. Think you're getting a refund after all of this? Wrong. They know that they're a scam, that's why all their rooms are non refundable. We were only there 5 days and in that time we witnessed 3 others try to refund their room because of these reasons. We also witnessed the owner literally choke one of their employees, right in front of us. So if you want all of this at a price $40 higher than it's worth, look no further!

• Mark (10/5): Budget. Clean and Tidy - Excellent. Staff were friendly if you were friendly. Old-style Thai Hotel with basic amenities. If you're expecting 5 star go someplace else, but clean, tidy with terrific location on the beach.

The walls were at least two different colors. But, it was not all bad. Our balcony overlooked the ocean, and we were mere steps away from the beach. For the cost, it was tolerable.

• Verified traveler (2/5): - Room was dirty, bed had plastic on it. soon as we arrived. the lady told us to follow her. she disappeared up the stairs 3 flights up expecting me to follow with 2 suitcases...no lift. no1 2 help. evetually got up and 1st time in my life i checked out within 10 mins and lost money for the 3 night stay i booked. immediately booked elsewhere and got a taxi out of there!

• james (6/5): - This place is a bit more run down then pics show, booked the best room they had and it was in very poor condition, bath tub had a hole that had been patched poorly, water leaked from under the Tub a lot, Balcony door latch was broken out so there was no way to truely secure the room, Bathroom ceiling had a big square hole cut in it but bathroom had no exhaust fan, Balcony light didnt work and was hanging by a wire, the list goes on..

Balcony was dirty with the only views being the building right beside, room was not anything like the photos and the air conditioner in our room wasn’t working so we had to move to a room with two twin beds which were extremely uncomfortable. Not worth the price you have to pay. The only bonus is being right on the water short walk to the beach and the bike rentals, staff were really nice but rooms are outdated and nothing like what we expected. (Holes in the celing, no water was provided, uncomfortable bed and pillows, only a sheet for a blanket, window in the door to enter the room-limited privacy)
• jess (10/5): Outstanding location and value - Excellent location. Steps away from beach. Everything is close by once you discover the shortcuts. Hotel shows it age with ac leaking onto bed a couple of times. And water leaking from ceiling in bathroom twice, either from leaking pipes or upstairs bathroom. But front desk on top of things as best they can. Saw bugs a couple times, can't fault hotel as it is the tropics. Room was sprayed and cleaned, spotless and smelled great. Can't get a better bargain. Only problem was poor Wi-Fi, but it was being overhauled as I was leaving.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasantly surprised - Compared to other more expensive accommodations I was impressed with the room and it's location. On the second night I was bit by bed bugs and when I complained I was immediately offered another room. And within minutes they started the fumigation process. Needless to say they take hygiene and cleanliness very seriously. If you want to travel on a budget and somehow still get your moneys worth I would recommend this hotel in Kamala beach.
