Guest Reviews
- Alexander (6/5): It‘s a nice propery but not worth the prices they charge. - Nice swimming pool, nice rooms and very clean.
Restaurant staff were obliging with special requests. - the rooms aren‘t cheap for what they are and you are staying at the property but have to pay 28 dollars each way to the airport which is a rip off. Should be included in the price or a rather reasonable amount. 28 dollars is charged per person for a full van and same is charged if you have car to yourself and booking agent tried convincing me to leave earlier so they could out me in with others to maximize the profit. I didn‘t go earlier.
- staff annoying you to book tour packages
- late check out not being accommodated
- card machines not working in restaurant and then expecting to leave your credit card details at reception as a deposit for the inconvenience you‘ve been caused and insist this is their policy. Any other hotel would be happy to add the bill to your room without any stress.
- tour packages are a disgraceful unreasonable price for what is actually offered
- restaurant staff some were not friendly at all (others were super friendly)
- reservation office closes 5pm which is far too early could stay open until 8pm
- breakfast is advertised 7-10am but should be advertised open 6-10am because victoria falls opens at 6am and other activities open early. You can request for early breakfast but why not make it standard across the board? To facilitate tour groups and disregard peoples needs that are not part of a tour?
- if this place would charge 50 dollars per night i would‘nt say a word but it‘s most certainly not worth 100 plus dollars per night
- towels are 1/3 of the size of the sunbeds
- for the amount of people residing on the property there are not enough sunbeds.
- tour packages have fuel surcharges and government surcharges which is added to everything - why not just include it in one price instead of making it unattractive to guests.
- i‘m very honest with my feedback and hope it‘s taken constructively to improve and grow.

- Donna (9/5): Lovely place to stay - Great location for Victoria falls.
Clean and comfortable thatched villas.
Lovely food but slow to arrive.
Lovely pool area Long wait for food.
No fridge in room
Niets
- Sally (10/5): We loved our stay there. Many thanks - The staff were very friendly. The food was very good. A beautiful dining and swimming area. It’s easy to get to lovely shops and restaurants and to get to the falls

- Dale (8/5): -
- MARTIN (10/5): Great place close to the falls - Great location, helpful staff and comfortable rooms, good breakfast and nice pool. The activities centre is on site aswell to book trips. We went on a boat cruise, safari to Botsawana and a helicopter flight over the falls. Nothing
- Gilles (10/5): - The lobby, the bar/swimming pool Area, the restaurant Nothing
- Anne (10/5): -
- FIONA (8/5): A wonderful experience in Vic Falls - The friendly and very helpful staff. Asking us how our daily adventures were and going out of their way to assist with anything we needed. The Smell of the thatch room as it was damp after the rain.
- Gilles (10/5): - Environnement, decoration, calme
- Sivakumar (7/5): Nice place with friendly staff - Friendly staff Rooms are small. Breakfast is the same everyday
- Dangens (8/5): Good option for Victoria Part stay - Breakfast was good for the price. Location quite OK even for walking to the falls. It was good so see that some of the border walls were being changed to see-through panels to open up the view over the bush from some of the rooms.

- Sophie (8/5): Good value hotel with lovely communal areas and in a fabulous location for visiting Vic Falls. - Stunning communal areas - pool looked lovely but sadly didn't have time to try it. Nice room, and pretty good facilities to help get dry after being drenched at Vic Falls. Super location in town - very easy to wander out to explore and great location to visit the Falls. We were hoping to have dinner at the hotel but after sitting down the wine list was so disappointing we couldn't find anything to drink - the offer was extremely limited - so we went elsewhere. I would say breakfast was adequate.
- Yolande (10/5): -
- Jean Marie (7/5): Alles ok - sauber aber übrfüllt Zimmer sehr klein
- Lunza (10/5): - It’s beautiful and clean, the staff are really friendly and helpful. It’s also very close to the falls, you can hear them at night and it’s so beautiful.

- Eva (10/5): Perfekt 👌 - Allt. Vackert hotell. Vänlig personal. God frukost.

- Aurelio Enrique (10/5): - The staff are exceptional and so caring. The facilities are beautiful and close to everything. The beds are extremely comfortable!
- Muriel (9/5): My parents enjoyed everything about the village. They had a wonderful time and a truly relaxing vaca - My parents enjoyed everything about the village. They had a wonderful time and a truly relaxing vacation. Keep up the excellent work.
- Chernenkov (5/5): - Check-in took a very long time. Upon arrival, we were given a form, which we filled out in two minutes, and then sat for another 15 minutes waiting for our keys, but no one handed them over until I went to reception. The hotel is nice, with lots of greenery, a pool, and an on-site restaurant, where everything is very expensive.
We had breakfast included, but to our surprise, the only free snacks in the restaurant in the morning are fruit, toast (jam), and pastries. Everything else is paid.
- Viktoria (10/5): -
- Noel (8/5): - Friendly staff Average breakfast selection
- Nina (9/5): -
- Kate (8/5): Great place. All that you need, not luxury, but all that you need. - The Staff were just incredible. Nothing was a problem at all. Very helpful.
The Location was close to all that we needed to see and do.
The Breakfast was great. Our room, albeit a nice room, was right beside renovations that were happening. We were a little disappointed that the hotel put us here and didn't mention this to us prior to us booking in. The room wasn't up to our expectations and not really like the pics.
- Louis (10/5): -
- Majakwara (7/5): Average to ok - generally ok, nothing spectacular no tv, no fridge, no bottled water, only two sachets for tea, no sweeteners
- Martin (8/5): -
- Mary Ann (10/5): - Great location for visiting the Falls. Activity desk very efficient and so easy to book helicopter flight etc
- Silkecol (10/5): -
- Brian Smith (9/5): Good base to explore Vic Falls - Lovely property with beautiful pool. Good restaurant with friendly staff
- Dan Danarda (10/5): Quite, clean, awesome grounds, works are very helpful and friendly. - The breakfast is the only thing for me and the dinner. They need more seafood options and veggies, plus veggie burger. Other than that excellent Just the food selections
- Sarah (9/5): -

- KIM HACKER (6/5): -
- Ruxandra Maria (10/5): -
- Caroline (8/5): Great stay for my family - Really friendly and helpful staff, everyone said hello. Maintenance man "grandpa" Mike made it for my kids. Thanks to Sharon in the resteraunt too for your kindness. I had requested interlinking rooms (as have 2 young children) and had this confirmed. When we arrived they did not have any. However they did rectify and we stayed 1 night in 2 separate rooms then were moved to interlikning for rest of stay.

- Ashleigh (8/5): - The location and the atmosphere The rooms are so small
- Jeremiah (10/5): -
- Vibeke Reinseth (9/5): - Meget venlige, smilende og livlig personale
- Westley (8/5): - They do the basics well.
Staff very helpful.
WiFi v good Breakfast wasn’t brilliant.
- Meloni (9/5): Amazing hotel and staff - Stunning property and amazing staff
The location is amazing, you can walk to the Falls and all the restaurants. They have beautiful gardens and the breakfast is very good The shower is a bit cramped and the whole bathroom floor is wet when you shower.
I ordered a kiddies milkshake that came in a shot glass and was $3
- Ngwenya (10/5): -
- Mbula (8/5): Great place overall - Good variety Plates too small
- Ross (9/5): -
- Sylvia (9/5): -
- Masimba (9/5): Amazing stay! - The property is very well located close to the nice restaurants in the area. The rooms are a reasonable size and were cleaned two to three times a day which was awesome.
Although we didn’t get time to use the pool, it was very well maintained and clean.
The staff were amazing especially Sharon and Fanuel. Nothing
- Julie (8/5): Great place to stay whilst in Vic Falls but overpriced given the size of the rooms. - Breakfast was very good: not a huge choice but delicious.
The location in Vic Falls is good. There are shops and bars within a few minutes walk. The rooms are very small given the cost.
The checking in process is unnecessarily long: we didn’t need to be told what we would find in the room before we got to the room.
- Claudia (9/5): -
- Rachel (8/5): Great - Excellent location ans staff. The pool was closed for maintenance which was disappointing Closed pool
- Babs (8/5): Noisey, but charming - The building was fantastic and the staff were overall polite The helicopter flying overhead for 8 hours every day. The breakfast was average and the onsite restaurant and bar were very expensive.
- Kevin (10/5): Good value. Great breakfast and pool was amazing! Loved our time! - We loved the pool
And the restaurant area. Grounds were well
Manicured and beautiful! Everything was great.
- Marius Botha (8/5): - Good position
- Marius Botha (9/5): - Very good hotel, can recommend
- Hazel (10/5): Great - The staff at Shearwater Village are absolutely wonderful - polite, helpful, and incredibly attentive throughout my entire stay. They embody the best of typical Zimbabwean hospitality, going above and beyond to ensure every guest feels welcome and well-cared for. Their friendly demeanor and willingness to assist with any request truly made my stay fantastic. The hotel's village-style architecture is breathtaking. The thatched roof design creates an authentic African atmosphere that immediately transports you into the heart of Zimbabwe's cultural heritage. My room was immaculately clean and well-appointed with excellent air conditioning - a real blessing in the African heat.
The showers work perfectly, providing strong water pressure and reliable hot water.
The food at Shearwater Village is outstanding. Every meal was delicious and beautifully presented. A particular highlight was enjoying the traditional Ndebele singers during dinner - their performances added such a rich cultural dimension to the dining experience and showcased Zimbabwe's beautiful musical heritage.
The location is absolutely magnificent. Being situated right within the national park means you're surrounded by nature at every turn. The beautiful pool positioned in front of the dining hall offers the perfect spot to relax while taking in the incredible natural scenery. The setting feels wonderfully authentic and exotic - you truly feel connected to Zimbabwe's wild beauty.
Shearwater Village is perfectly positioned with fantastic shopping opportunities right on your doorstep. The local artists create the most beautiful paintings - I couldn't resist purchasing one as a lasting memory of my stay. The convenience of having a bank and ATM facilities nearby made managing finances effortless during my visit.
The 24/7 security throughout the entire property provides complete peace of mind. a lizard appeared during my shower. that was very scary but staff were very helpful. It is a national park after all
- Halleluya (10/5): Fantastic - Fantastic customer service
- James (6/5): Wonderful bar and pool area, picturesque buildings but disappointed with mosquito issues - excellent breakfast
relaxing bar and pool area, pretty grounds When we checked into the room around 2.30pm we noticed we were feeling a bit itchy, possibly with small flying insects/mosquitos.
We were not aware the window was open , the curtains were drawn. This may have been how the insects were getting in. We were made aware the rooms were being sprayed between 5 and 8pm but I was not expecting to have to spray myself with mosquito spray on arrival to my room. I ended up going to the bar area as I was finding it quite unpleasant sitting in my room. There did not appear to be any issues around the bar area.
- Odette (5/5): Shearwater is overpriced given what you get if you a regional visitor knowing prices and quality - Staff at the breakfast/ dinner / lunch excellent
Clean
Nice pool 1. Confusion and the usual blame game between accommodation service provider and booking.com.
Booked and got confirmation but someone kept checking and reporting my credit card details as incorrect which required me to stop whatever I was doing and reenter and reconfirm the accommodation. That and 9 emails later we finally got them paid without any hassle not sure why shearwater or bookings.com created such an inconvenience.
2. Unlimited WiFi as advertised- not true you get 1 token for 1 device
3. Booking Half board - that includes $30ppp lunch per their policy BUT help Shearwater read their own policy. It didn’t state you will eat from a set menu option. school hostel style piece of paper looking like it’s 1month old, when they hear you on a half board package - pick a starter of 2 options/ pick 1 main from 3 options and dessert from 2 or 3 options, whilst others eat from a big laminated menu with various options. So I refused to eat from a set menu - I read policy for a living so it was a no for me.
So that $30 was a waste of money there are other places much cheaper and better value from the 5 star Victoria Falls Hotel to the Victoria Falls Brewers around the corner.
4. Victoria Falls overall is a tourist trap for regional visitors- why are we paying in USD - coming from South Africa Zimbabwe suddenly became 20 x more expensive? Inexpensive wine becomes the value of a great expensive wine etc. is it worth it I asked myself….it was only the Zim Parks which gave regional visitors a lower rate not much but at least….
5. There is a 3% add on to accommodation etc. when you use your credit card. No one tells you this. Why are we then using bookings.com?
- Haatsari (9/5): -
- Raika (8/5): It’s was amazing and the stuff were very friendly and accommodating - It was close to everything easy to get around It should have tvs on the rooms and more or a variety for food options
- Michael (6/5): It was okay I wouldn’t stay there again, but it was okay - Location was reasonable and the place was clean. Some of the staff were in the wrong industry by which I mean, quite rude.
The food was generally good.
The breakfast however was okay at best, coffee was terrible.
The beds in the twin room are too narrow although comfortable
And finally they are completely terrible when it comes to finances
I paid my Bill before I got there and they were still asking me to pay my bill and for additional money no particular reason only when I challenged it did it become a clerical error on their side I was not happy and this happened twice the night before I left in the morning of me departing.
- Marina (10/5): Amazing place. Close to all amenities. Clean and food amazing. Staff most professional and friendly. Made us feel so - Amazing place. Close to all amenities. Clean and food amazing. Staff most professional and friendly.
Made us feel so welcome.
- Melody (10/5): - Everything was lovely and it was so cool to see families of mongoose running around! Love the wildlife! Love that they were accommodating for earlier breakfast and the food was good too. You can also book tours from there which we did. We stayed 2 nights, could have stayed longer.

- Victoria (10/5): It was fantastic, we loved the open air markets and restaurants nearby, the pool was fab and the property beautifully ma - We loved the little thatched cottages, the location, the pool was sensational (although more shade would be beneficial) and we loved breakfast and the lounge and bar area, it was all fabulous The rooms had a strong musty smell
- Mareledi (2/5): -
- Thembelihle (9/5): Convenient stay in central location - The accommodation looks good inside and outside. The facilities were clean, the breakfast was okay. It’s close to the falls, activities and shuttles can be arranged by the team onsite. Not too far from Vic falls airport. The rooms were just okay, not terrible but not matching up to the price. The WiFi in the rooms was terrible and a bit more stable in the shared lounge space.
- Hazel (10/5): The perfect base for enjoying the Victoria Falls and an authentic Zimbabwean experience - From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the genuine warmth and hospitality that defines Zimbabwean people. The staff are - polite, helpful, and incredibly attentive throughout my entire stay. They embody the best of typical Zimbabwean hospitality, going above and beyond to ensure every guest feels welcome and well-cared for.

Shearwater Village Hotel is simply the perfect base for enjoying Victoria Falls! nothing

- Charity (8/5): - Beautiful clean rooms. Comfortable beds and very tasty meals. Their oxtail is to die for. A lot of things on the menu unavailable. The same with the bar. Menu says you can buy by the glass but they tell you that you can only have the wine by the bottle.
- Hervé (9/5): -
- Michele (10/5): Exceptional service in an in- town location - Nice rooms with mosquito nets, A/C and comfy beds. Quaint landscaped grounds. Friendly staff. Great Activities desk! All was good
- Desmond (10/5): Absolutely fabulous - I was there with my wife and 2 kids. Our stay was nothing but amazing. Friendly staff, clean rooms, and awesome bar/restaurant area. Theres a beautiful pool right in full view so having a drink while watching the kids swim was easy peezy. I highly recommend Food a bit on the pricey side, but otherwise delicious
Lighting the room wasnt as bright as I wanted but thats just my preference
