- Danielle (10/5): Absolutely fantastic - Everything 😊
We loved how traditional it was and its closeness to the ski lifts.
The staff were great and friendly and made our stay so enjoyable, definitely can’t wait to go back 💜

- Bronwyn (5/5): Good location but room unsuitable for 5 people and luggage and should be clear that a shared bathroom means using it wit - Location Did not have any suitable area to store luggage and was not aware the bathroom for women was shared simultaneously with other women. Also had to book breakfast 2 days in advance.
- Christine (10/5): - Friendly, great location, traditional Japanese lodge. What a wonderful experience.
- Andy (9/5): Absolutely love the place still & Marcella & her team are amazing - always attentive & communication is 100% - Was close enough to the main shops & the main gondola. Everything was clean/tidy & had a nice homey feel. The communal area was great for chatting with people & having hot cocoa. Even though the toilets & showers were shared facilities it was always maintained.
The buffet breakfast was the best!! For the amount of people that the place can fit & price you pay, there was always a good selection to chose from. The Onsen in the bathrooms weren’t working unfortunately (not the fault of People running the place) & maybe blinds for the sliding doors as the light shines. Even though there is quiet time by 9pm you can still hear footsteps etc so if you are a light sleeper, invest in ear plugs/face mask.
- Lynley (10/5): Nozawa Dream exceeded our expectations! - Everything was amazing! Nothing

- Ben (10/5): Nozawa Dream is a homely and welcoming place to stay and a 5 minute walk from the Gondola. The staff are lovely and the - We loved the accommodation, the staff, the atmosphere and the fellow guests. Nothing
- Tim (10/5): - Location Not too big
- Jennifer (8/5): Such a boom - The slippers didn't fit and it was hard walking in then keeping them on. The lighting in the room was florescent.
- Jeffrey (8/5): Very good -
- Jung (9/5): Fabulous budget stay with shared facilities - If you want a good quality budget stay and don’t mind sharing bathroom and dining facilities, this is a great option.
- Lynley (9/5): Really nice good value accommodation in a great location - Good location with easy walk to local onsens and main village. Nice lounge area - is better then the photos. Kerosene heater in the lounge - strong smell
- Tahnee (10/5): Fantastic staff! - Firstly I would like to commend the staff at this establishment. They were so accommodating and friendly. On the first day, I busted my knee and broke my leg on the ski field and they went above and beyond to drive me to appointments, book taxis, allow my family to bring me breakfast in bed, help me up and down the stairs and be fine with me taking over the lounge area when I could finally get down stairs. The accommodation itself was clean and very well maintained. The breakfast was different every day and catered to western and Japanese palettes. The location was handy too.
Turns out I actually completely busted 2 main ligaments in my knee and required surgery when I got home and I will never forget their kindness. Highly recommend!
- Jennifer (10/5): Excellent, great location, would stay again. - We stayed for 3 nights, and every breakfast had loads of options (Japanese style breakfast plus western style breakfast that changed every day - sausages, bacon, omelette, waffles, salmon). Also fresh fruit and yogurt offered every day.
Rooms and bathrooms were very clean.
Some of The public baths were less than a 4 min walk which made it super easy to ski and then come home and go for a quick soak.
They also have a dry room to hang up coats and gloves.
Loved the guitar in the common space - a guitar pick would be amazing !! The shared room offered tea and instant coffee, but I would have loved just plain black instant coffee as opposed to the blended instant coffee that was way too sugary sweet.
- Amy (10/5): - Lovely breakfast & super friendly staff who were extremely helpful! We loved our stay.
- Amanda (1/5): Staff is awful. Location is fine. - The one communal area was nice. What ruined it was when the unprofessional staff members used it (instead of their 3 or 4 staff rooms) and left us nowhere to sit. The staff. Two of the women were attentive and helpful, but the rest were lazy and unprofessional. It was evident that they had no idea what a ryokan was, and were running the place like some sort of budget backpackers hostel. My partner and I tried to send our luggage to Tokyo in advance of our departure date so we didn’t have to drag it all onto the Shinkansen and we received three different stories from three staff members about when they needed to call the company to pick the luggage up, how long it would take and how much it would cost. We ended up driving back to Tokyo purely for the fact we couldn’t trust them to get it right (we had been traveling around Japan for weeks and knew how it operated better than the staff it seemed).
None of us ever used the onsen, as it was always stone cold. We were always told it had ‘just been turned on’ but this was at every hour of the day.
When we asked if there was a kaiseki restaurant they could recommend for us to go to, they directed us to a Spanish tapas restaurant.
Worst of all, there was one communal area where my family and friends could sit and talk after a long day of skiing. This seemed to consistently be taken up by staff members instead of them sitting in their own dedicated staff rooms (of which there were at least three or four). Judging by the dates of positive reviews, it seems as though the place has changed hands since COVID and the current managers have not done a good job of keeping up with the prior owners’ exemplary hospitality.
- Liam (10/5): Highly recommended, great staff, location and atmosphere - Loved the welcoming hospitality of the staff.
- Liam (6/5): Pleasant - The location was convenient It was less quiet, comfortable and convenient than Nozawa Peaks.
- Clare (7/5): Loved our stay. First time skiing in Japan. Loved all the onsens and the family one. Food great staff super friendly. De - Great location, nice breakfast, friendly and very helpful staff. Comfortable relax home feel The beds were a little hard but got used to them in time we stayed
- Nadia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (8/5): Amazing place , great location , breakfast was perfect and carol is a great host - it snowed the whole 8 days we were th - Friendly staff and great atmosphere No open fire 🤣
- Richard (10/5): We love Nozawa. Nozawa dream is - Nice and close to everything
- Tom (7/5): Good -
- Shammi (8/5): Very good -
- Stuart (10/5): Very Special experience!! - They couldn’t help enough!! Large dry room
- Elise (7/5): Really Great - Great location - lovely staff Cooked breakfast could have been replenished more frequently during service
- Lawrence (6/5): Think of Nozawa Dream as a luxurious hostel... but two-star hotel - Good breakfast; Friendly staff; Strong heater; Strong wifi Small room; Shared toilet & bath
- Word (7/5): Convenient location to walk into town - Location - easy walk into town
Comfortable beds - mat plus padded thin extra layer makes a big difference
Breakfast was good and sufficient
Friendly staff
Good hearing in rooms and double glazing means the outside noise is reduced
Lovely staff member accompanied us to purchase the lift passes Rooms have traditional sliding doors which are very thin into communal hall so you hear each coming/going all night and morning as guests go to the toilet etc. Bring your ear plugs!
Onsen in the shared bath is tepid.
Disappointing that hotel management refer guests to a PDF info sheet ie restaurants and taxis etc. when you sometimes need more if things aren’t clear. Personal touch missing that we have always seen in other hotels in Nozawa for less money.
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jason (10/5): Exceptional - Staff were fantastic. Breakfast was a great way to start the day. Location is ideal. Facilities excellent. Not a criticism... but know that all beds are traditional futon on tatami.
- Laura (5/5): The staff were not really that friendly.. it - The lounge room space to meet others.
- Paul (8/5): - Shared amenities can be an adjustment however it is part of the cultural experience. Great for families.
- KIM (10/5): Thank you, NOZAWA DREAM! - All the staff at NOZAWA DREAM were so amazing. They were all kind and always treated me and my family members with a smile.
It made my trip with my family very very memorable.
Thank you, NOZAWA DREAM!
- John (10/5): Exceptional - Kindness of staff, social aspect of communal areas. Perhaps some western style seating for older / less flexible folks
- Nguyen (9/5): Excellent price for the service - The manager is very helpful and understanding. The rooms is clean, quiet and comfortable enough. Breakfast is included in the price and offers Western or Japanese style food for you to choose yourself. No bathroom inside the room, no parking, no rental, the location is a bit inconvenience to reach the ski slope. But then again the price is really good so we cannot complaint.
- Dimitri (6/5): Pleasant - The personal speaks English very well and was very friendly and helpful with recommendations. The duvet and the pillow weren’t very comfortable.
- Michael (10/5): Perfect, cosy, simple little place right near the slopes with amazing staff. - What made this property stand out the most was the exceptional attentiveness of the staff, who were so kind and thoughtful in ensuring we had everything we needed. The breakfast was good too!
- Tony (9/5): Great value for snowboarding with families - Extensive healthy breakfast options. Very comfortable futons. Perfect location within a short walk to town or lifts. Good for families Shared baths, hot tub was not working
- Birgitta (10/5): Mysigt och genuint - Härlig vibe. Fantastisk personal. Toppen läge. Bra frukost. Tyst, rent och enkelt. Vi gillade stämningen och hang-out place som fanns.
- Julie (8/5): Very good -
- E. (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (10/5): We stayed two nights and only wish we could have stayed longer. - Staff were absolutely amazing and very accommodating.
- Charlene (7/5): Good -
- Roxanne (8/5): Great location, quiet and very good breakfast. - Breakfast was excellent. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Great hanging space availability. Pillows were very flat and our room with four adults was crowded which was to be expected.
- Ilse (10/5): - Amamos quedarnos aquí
- Nicholas (10/5): Awesome snow trip and stay at Nozawa Dream - Staff were amazing - thank you for taking the time to book our lovely dinners - it made all the difference Nothing - highly satisfied.
- Merran (8/5): Very good - The staff and the breakfasts and it was super clean and quiet Nothing
- Fonsecab (9/5): Conveniently, located in town and close to the ski .fields. Comfortable, spacious accommodation, sta - Conveniently, located in town and close to the ski .fields. Comfortable, spacious accommodation, staff were very hospitable.
Fantastic all-you-can-eat breakfast each morning with a variety of foods.
- Lillyb_ (9/5): Everything you need is at Nozawa Dream! - This was our first time visiting Nozawa Onsen. The accommodation was an easy 5 min walk to all the restaurants and maybe 10 mins (uphill) to the snow. So it wasn't the closest to the snow but was easily accessible.
We were travelling with a toddler coming from Europe who was extremely jetlagged and often up and ready to play in the middle of the night. The staff were so patient and kind with us. For a young team we found them super professional and helpful.
There were many onsen close by and we found the rooms nice, cosy and spacious for a family with big luggage. We met lots of lovely families in the common space and you had lots of options for the included breakfast. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back. The really annoying toddler traveling with us waking up in the middle of the night 😂
- James (7/5): Good traditional lodgings, staff supa friendly and helpful - The staff are really nice and helpful, for all your needs, and this was a standout and made the stay at Nozawa Dream great. The accommodation rooms are traditional and nice, the bathrooms and toilets are clean and well maintained. The communal area is a little small, and a little dated, and could benefit from a mini makeover.
- Alicia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joshua (10/5): Small friendly nice spot. - Staff were really friendly and helpful, we loved the intimate vibe of the whole place. Great to see everyone in the morning at breakfast, and nice common areas. Didn't mind, but heads up the showers are shared. One has a curtain that closes it off, but the other 2 are exposed to others, in a traditional Japanese way.
- Nathaniel (5/5): Location great, the rooms are tiny and the place has really basic amenity - Great location and the staff were very helpful and friendly Rooms are so small, the shared bathrooms are all open showers (only 3) and a tiny bath tub with no privacy or space. No space to really get changed or dressed either. They use a kerosene burner inside the property in the lounge area to keep hot water for tea coffee etc. the whole place smells of kerosene and has very poor air quality inside the property. Surely this would be a long term health hazard for staff. The breakfast seating on the floor is not really traditional Japanese and a poor set up. better to just have chairs and tables and be a lot more comfortable.
- Mathams (8/5): We'll be back! - Great central location with a fantastic buffet breakfast and very, helpful staff. Unfortunately the walls of the rooms were paper thin meaning not the most restful sleep.
- Samuel (9/5): Comfortable stay in a nice quiet part of Nozawa Onsen - Great location, friendly and helpful staff, comfortable beds and rooms (well heated, lots of blankets and pillows), great breakfast and coffee Not too much! Location could be closer to the gondola but I'm really just reaching here.
- Duncan (10/5): Would definitely recommend this to others - It was very comfortable. The location is great. The staff were really nice and the breakfast was great!
- Lauretta (6/5): Pleasant - Position great, staff friendly, breakfast good. We have stayed here 3 times now and have been happy until this occasion. No fault of the property or staff… just very noisy guests this time. Room at the top of the stairs was very noisy due to a big group with kids staying… running up and down the stairs late at night, slamming sliding doors shut and just not being respectful of other guests.
- Jo-ann (8/5): It was a pleasant stay overall and we would definitely consider going back again. - Staff were friendly and helpful :)
Breakfast was good. Location was also good, within walking distance to the gondola. Corridors outside our room was very cold, would have been nice to have some heat
- Peter (10/5): Fantastic vibe. Highly recommended. - Great staff. Good communal area adding to a friendly vibe. Could easily use the dinning room to heat up our own food.
- Adeline (8/5): Very good - It was a cosy and friendly atmosphere. Has a backpackers vibe. Beautiful breakfast every morning. Cosy communal family room. A couple of nice onsens nearby. Toilets were shared and washbasin is also separate. A good 15mins walk uphill to the moving platform. Not that close to ski slopes.
- Brigette (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional - Delicious breakfast buffet, warm and clean, lovely space to meet other guests, good location to onsens, slopes and the village restaurants, fantastic helpful staff. Felt at home.
- Cathie (9/5): We enjoyed our stay in this quite location. Comfy beds and yummy breakfast. - Perfect location close to the slopes. Excellent breakfast and a nice quiet family atmosphere.
- Luke (10/5): Exceptional -
- Danielle (10/5): Brilliant stay, if we return to Nozawa we will book again! - Our stay at Nozawa Dream exceeded our expectations with respect to the staff, facilities and location. This was our first stay in Nozawa Onsen and we had an easy walk from the Shinden bus stop, up the hill to Nozawa Dream. The information pack received from Nozawa Dream before our stay was so clear with its directions and information, this helped with our arrival. When I first booked the accommodation, I did not have a clear picture of the bathroom facilities and was a little anxious about how we would be washing throughout our stay . . . In reality there are three toilet cubicles for females and two for males, both with wash basins outside the bathrooms, located upstairs where the bedrooms are. Then downstairs, there are separate showering rooms for females and males. The female shower room has three showers in it (one with a privacy curtain) and an onsen. On each night that I used the showering room, I had it all to myself. My husband and son had the same experience with the male shower room. The breakfast is on offer from 7:30-9:00am with a good range of options. This is a shared space with other guests and you sit on the tatami mats. The staff were always so busy with replenishing the eggs, bread, juice, coffee etc. Nozawa Dream was an easy walk from the village centre, as well as from the Nagasaki Gondola area, and also to the Kongo Night Market for dinner, we found the location very convenient. We enjoyed chatting to the staff and other guests in the shared lounge area, where we could treat ourselves to a hot chocolate at the end of the day. Thanks Nozawa Dream, we had a great stay! On a different note, if you are looking for ski lessons, Javier from Kaizen Ski School was amazing and I found his details via the Nozawa Dream information pack. Via Booking.com, this was a pay up-front, non-refundable booking.
- Su (9/5): Superb -

- Petra (9/5): Superb -

- Yip (10/5): It was a fun and enjoyable stay - The lobby Nothing
- Kim (7/5): Great value for money. Comfortable beds (low futon style). Great breakfast - low tables may be difficult for persons una - Friendly helpful staff make this accomodation so well liked. Shared bathroom was difficult to work out, three showers and a bath in an open room. One shower had a curtain.
- Ben (10/5): Nice location with helpful and friendly staff that make sure you enjoy your stay. - I arrived in the morning and was greeted by staff who already knew my name and let me check in early. Staff was attentive and eager to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Breakfast was great too.

- Jordan (9/5): Superb -
- Emma (8/5): Easy and quick stay - Wonderful welcome, easy check I’m, central location. We are grateful for our short stay. Noise of other guests into the evening was hard with younger children needing to get to sleep
- Jasper (9/5): Cute ryokan with lovely staff and an excellent breakfast - This was a great little ryokan with a lot of character. Location was excellent for the slopes and the staff were super kind and helpful. The facilities are pretty good as well and the breakfast was delicious with a lot of choice, both western and Japanese. It was hard to fault this place to be honest. It was a little expensive but perhaps to be expected in a popular ski resort town.
- Curtise (8/5): Super friendly, very helpful staff and a wonderful experieince all round, see you all again. - The staff were super friendly and very helpful, nothing was a concern for them and they offered lots of advice and even made booking for us around town. The rooms were clean, the shared bathrooms were also very clean and the hot showers/onsen were excellent after a long day on the mountain. Can't say there was anything I didn't like.
- Jay (10/5): Great stay for skiing - Amazing service from very friendly and helpful staff
- Annabelle (10/5): One of the best friendliest places to stay in nozawa! - We loved breakfast and the location. Honestly everything. We were sad to leave and want to come back already!! Max especially was super accomodating when we missed our train from Tokyo and arrived late. The beds were really comfy and the rooms were warm, all facilities clean and convenient. See you next season :) Nothing
